No 32 Blue Oud

This is a raw, minimalist oudy fragrance. Initially I have an explosion of blue cypress and an oud of black berries EARTH, PENCILS and MOLD omnipresent, with a sandwich of moist tobacco and a dusty, slightly smoky finish of fresh vegetation and a clean thread of fern if I put my nose on my wrist. Subtle, calm, with a lightly seasoned smell, inclined towards the masculine, in the evening and more suitable for indoor if used sparingly. NATURAL

I was relieved to read the review below mine and see that I was not the only person who smelled sweet tarts. I'm not a big fan of this one. There is something pungent in it that seems like it could go in a bit of a urine direction, in the same way that ceder does on some people. It is extremely sweet. I'm not getting the vetiver or tobacco at all. This seems to have very good projection. I wish I liked it better because it does perform well.

I can’t tell you anything about No. 32 Blue Oud by Cognoscenti that makes any amount of sense. Remember Smarties, those small, sweet pale, chalky disks of nostalgia, stacked in rolls, wrapped in crinkly cellophane, and which probably made up the bulk of your Halloween haul when you were a kid? Ok, well, imagine a confection along those lines, crafted by enterprising small business owner witch Peppers McGee of the Whispering Hills (patent pending) and flavored with proprietary woodland essences of violet and bluebells and meadow rue, brambleberries, cypress and fern and a fuzzy snippet of flowering lichen that only blooms in the shimmering light of a blue moon. The candies are painted the intense velvety shade of midwinter nights, deep resolve, and slow truths, and emblazoned with silvery scenes of celestial significance. She was inspired by Zeus, the blind, starry-eyed screech owl that she saw on Boing Boing, and wanted to create a tiny treat that evoked for the user what Zeus awoke in her: a brief moment of universality, of wholeness within oneself and one’s connection with everything. As you can imagine, such visions, however exquisite or fleeting, come at a steep price–but Peppers McGee now accepts Afterpay and Klarna.
