Flute

Ok I love the concept of this perfume brand because the founder uses their synesthesia for the scent ideas! I wonder what flute pieces or flautists were the inspiration for this perfume? My take is that this is supposed to be sickly sweet and fresh. Flute is often orchestrated with melodies that are shrill and piercing... but also free and natural. Perhaps that was the idea? The magnolia kinda balances the other sweet notes which I think would make this a good scent for daily wear. I think some of the other sweet scents from colornoise could be a bit much for some people. This might be the right option if you like sweet but are sensitive.

Flute is meant to evoke the sound of the instrument through the medium of scent, an interesting conceptual approach to scent making! Like a true artist, the creator of Flute has found a way to make me think critically before I even inhale- how might the presence of the flute translate to an olfactory experience? What does it mean for a scent to be 'clear,' 'piercing,' 'high pitched,' 'or 'nimble?' Can we use scent as a wordless vocabulary that mediates between sensation and concept? Notes listed by the creator: sweet silver magnolia, fresh blackberry jam, sugar crystals, and the sound of a flute. At first application, flute is sharp- acidly sweet, like Hawaiian punch, or sour taffy. Airheads: white mystery. Some kind of candy mania that sticks around for about an hour before deepening into something sweet but blessedly more grown up (though still youthful), juicy, tart, pretty, and mouth-watering. I can understand why this is the smell of the sound of a flute: it's acid that cuts through any richness it meets, silly, fast moving, supported by nothing but air, graceful but grating, direct, solid, slender and ridiculous. Moderate sillage, impressive longevity, amazing price. I like the way it smells, but love the implications of the project more. Can't wait to try the next one!

continued pattern from my colornoise experience, great concept and scent but poor longevity. it IS beautiful for the like pitiful >2 hours it lasts though. the blackberry jelly is SO bright, sweet, and clean <3
