Celluloid Galbanum

Gucci Envy stripped of something significant. As a big Envy fan, I may be biased, but I'll try my best to stay objective. This frag smells green, clean yet lifeless - guess it lives up to the celluloid part of the name. Lifeless isn't a bad thing, at least we don't get any decaying white flowers here. Like @jeca has pointed out, it's pleasantly synthetic. I love the galbanum but the scent feels somewhat too simple overall, its linear and does not get any significant development. Not sure if I should be complaining about this since only two notes are listed in the pyramid, it's not like we were left expecting something else. I wanted galbanum and I got it. Still hitting the love button because we don't get a lot of great galbanum frags these days, but I'd never buy it if Envy wasn't discontinued lol. Surely not a complete dupe, but it's still something.

Like the others in the "Clash" series, a very literal composition of the opposing notes. The result is very (very!) clean. On paper, it veers into air freshener territory. BUT on skin, the fragile, plastic smell of celluloid film shines through, making it much more interesting, if not very complex. I don't read floral too much here, just green galbanum and transparent film. Think bouquet of clean greenery in cellophane wrapping. It's easily the most approachable of the series but still retains the unexpected emotional quality of most of the CDG line. Celluloid Galbanum won't stand out, it won't leave an impression, but it's there to remind you (and only you) of an austere, antiseptic, and fictional memory of brittle plastic and snapped stems.

This is an amazing fragrance! I expected something sharper and greener since it's galbanum, but it turned to be very rounded and very floral. I even thought that I mixed it up with Chlorophyll Gardenia, but not, Gardenia is like a high pitched scream, not very floral and very strange. This is one pleasantly synthetic, very floral and nicely green. Totally safe.

I really like this fragrance; it is very clean and floral smelling. It does kinda smell like laundry detergent though.

I like it, but I don't love it. Got this as a gift and I probably wouldn't buy this myself but it's an interesting fragrance. Celluloid is the material used for old school film, so it definitely fits into the "weirdness" of CDGs notes.

The galbanum in this just makes me want to wear Untitled by Maison Margiela. I think it’s the synthetic floral that’s putting me off to this. Reminds me of cheap laundry detergent as others have said.

This is the one of the three that I don’t care for. To me, the galbanum is overwhelmed by a synthetic floral. Smells like cheap laundry detergent. 2 out of 5.

It smells like the cheap flowery perfume the old woman who lives next to me wears when she has a special event. No thanks.

This is a strange one that lives up to the "clash" moniker. I can actually smell the two scents side by side. It's like the olfactory equivalent of looking at a ribbon of two colors that don't blend into each other, yet instead have a distinct boundary. Not for me but, a bit fascinating.

I wasn’t sure if I knew what celluloid would smell like. Turns out I knew exactly, it’s the very nostalgic smell of film photography. Sweet plastic on a dark green base. Another CDG synthetic with a surprising emotional resonance.
