Comme des Garcons 2 Man

@Deelecto I've never really had a noticeable headache from using fragrance but I have had contact dermatitis, even though I hardly ever spray liberally. It hung around for about a month and to begin with it was a bloody pain. Mine wasn't due to any of the usual suspects--the fragrance was on the turn and had changed chemically--but, though I love mossy fragrances, I absolutely accept regulation intended to spare people anything up to at least a few weeks' discomfort. I imagine there are people out there whose reactions are far worse. On my skin, something in 2 Man smells like banana peel, banana leaf, plantain leaf--something along those lines. Perhaps it relates to the mint--I don't know how that might be--because there's mint in Beach Hut Man too and I get a similar banana-type scent (among many others) from that one as well. There's also the possibility that this relates to particular woody notes, as, of course, both fragrances are very woody. Perhaps it's mint *and* woods?! Anyhow the combination of this banana-type scent and aromatic woods always makes me think of the Tropics and Subtropics--so while I can absolutely see why some say that this fragrance reminds them of church, a second-hand bookshop and/or possibly a showroom full of well-polished teak and mahogany furniture, it perhaps causes me personally to recall a coach trip I once took through the Yucatán rainforest. The coach stops at a tiny Maya roadside lean-to of a settlement along the way. There may or may not be some turkeys gobble-gobbling and trotting around. It's a dry, sunny day above all the exotic, aromatic trees. There's just the one modest little general store-cum-shabby little diner and inside it, in the rainforest climate, yes, the old wooden furniture smells a little like this scent. In the kitchen, someone is steaming some inobtrusively fragrant, sweet banana leaf or plantain leaf tamales. The thing is--and I do realise that it's almost ridiculous to say this--everything about this scent is just so... woody. Even the banana thing has rainforest ties. And most of the wood is dry, brown, dusty, hard--not even any temperate-zone conifers to juice things up. It's a lovely fragrance but, as is often the case with these super-dry-woody scents, I find myself wishing that it offered ever so slightly more--that there were just a little more top-note zest or zing to lighten or refresh the scent (without making it smell like furniture polish). It's not at all a gloomy fragrance but it can seem almost totemically wooden. It reminds me of being handed a block of wood in the workshop at school and being encouraged to--make something, anything out of it. Also, this fragrance's performance is only average--but in my case, that may be a good thing. It has just the right amount of sweatiness as it is.

I have a great deal of respect for Comme Des Garcons, they are one of the better "niche at designer price" houses at the current time. IMO, CDG 2 Man is the best work of Mark Buxton to date, although Sander scent 79 is really good. CDG 2 Man is the best truly "multidimensional" fragrance in my possession. To my nose Buxton structured this so that waves of varying notes and intensities would waft about concurrently throughout it's evolution. I guess I would say this fragrance charts a "wide olfactory swath".While I suppose many fragrances try to accomplish this, Buxton with CDG 2 Man nailed it so well that it caught me off guard, and when a fragrance does that to me, it is a very good thing! Initially I dismissed this fragrance as weak and unusual. But I rapidly turned from uninterested to infatuated. The execution of this fragrance is complex and interesting. Do not underestimate the role mint plays in this fragrance. It is brilliant. CDG 2 Man seems insanely strong initially only to play a bit of hide and seek a few hours later. I would describe the effect of this fragrance as initially confused, like the notes are all looking for a seat and bickering over who gets to set in the first row, slightly herbal and a little bit dirty/sweaty for a few minutes, only to quickly morph into a lovely multi layered incense driven, barely sweet, chilly white smoke, slightly peppered, hot balsamic infused wax, all contained in slightly minty crusted olfactory package. All the while faint "wisps"(I suspect the aldehydes)of perfumes past swirl about in your personal space. It brings so many things to mind, like my college girlfriend (years ago!) chewing mint gum with Aveda scented hair, new leather luggage, fine furniture, etc. It also has traces of Avignon, Zagorsk and even CDG Black to my nose. Though I think it is better than the aforementioned fragrances with the potential exception of CDG Black which is probably a tie with 2Man. I sometimes layer 2Man with Loewe 7 and the effect is quite pleasing for me with more than a few inquiries and compliments. I think easily worn by anyone who enjoys the fragrance, man, woman, It does not matter. If your properly moisturized skin seems to eat this fragrance, garments and hair seem to hold it quite well. To my nose the similarities to GPH1 are not that significant and I appreciate CDG 2 Man much more that GPH 1, not to say I don't also love GPH 1, because I do! You will never smell the same twice wearing this genius scent from Mark Buxton. 10/10

For sure, one of the most underrated perfumes. Amazing and I consider it as the “fresh and happy” version of Bentley absolute. I really regret not trying this, or any CdG for that matter, a lot sooner. This stuff is absolutely gorgeous, wearable, and masculine. It stands out without ever feeling brash or out of place, and is blended so perfectly that you could smell like this 24/7 and never get annoyed or bored of it. The industrial, grey, aldehydic opening that CdG and Buxton is known for is very prevalent here, but it doesn't come off as soapy as the original CdG 2. Paired with that is a fresh-spiciness that smells extremely similar to Blackpepper by CdG. Since black pepper isn't listed as a note, I assume this is the caraway. And like caraway, I've never smelled a kumquat either, but there is a subtle unique fruitiness living in the top that comes across as mild and complete, being pithy and juicy at the same time. It sits right in the middle of citrus fruits and rich, sweet fruits. I adore it and pick up on it the more I wear this fragrance. As it starts to dry down, you get hit with a ton of vetiver. I'm generally indifferent to vetiver, as I often find it to be too raw and earthy for my taste. However, I really enjoy it in this context. It's light and abstract, a creative take on vetiver that's extremely polished. Balanced with that is a touch of dark hardwood and this intoxicating, cold incense resting at the base. The iris and mint serve as a nice textural "bridge" between the clean, almost sterile aldehydic top and the darker base notes, with them both shining through more as the fragrance settles. Performance is alright, most CdG fragrances aren't powerhouses but it's definitely adequate for daily wear and lasts quite a while. There is Iso E in here, so yes you can go noseblind to this very easily. With this, and many other fragrances, if it just "disappears" in 30min it's often from overspraying, or even applying too close to your nose (chest or front of the neck). Also, it's worth noting that this is a pretty well-rounded and mass-appealing scent, so don't let the people saying it smells like a church deter you from trying it. The incense is actually pretty subtle and I wouldn't call it "churchy" at all. Some people make this sound like a Sorcinelli-esque creation that the pope would wear... Obsessed with this absolute work of art, perfect 10/10 in my books.

I was initially disappointed with 2 Man because it’s so different from CDG 2, which I adore—I felt like labelling this as a flanker is misleading since it’s almost a completely different scent. I also found this one to be less adventurous and original, its masculine flavour a bit too close to more commercial mens’ fragrances. After spending more time with it, though, I have to say it’s grown on me. I’ve come to appreciate how it *does* share some of the same DNA that I love in CDG 2: mainly the interplay of aldehydes, spices, and incense, though it subtracts 2’s complex cybernetic florals for a subtle iris and does away with the tea accord. Though it doesn’t include “ink” in the official description like 2 does, I find it still gives a hint of that “magazine-page” scent that I like so much in the sister fragrance. Plus, as the weather cooled into fall and winter, I really started to appreciate its leathery, slightly smoky spiced-amber drydown, which is satisfyingly warm and resinous—a lovely twist on the signature clean-incense base of so many CDG perfumes. I find it to be a sophisticated, somewhat bookish masculine fragrance that’s neither too loud nor too conservative. My only complaint is that the aldehydic top notes are both fresh and powdery in a way that reads a bit too much like deodorant (which is what initially put me off)—I prefer how it smells after an hour or two, but the longevity is actually not tremendous, so the drydown phase doesn’t last that long. I also eventually discovered Eris’ Scorpio Rising, which feels like it took the drydown phase of 2 Man and made it sweeter, richer, and more powerful—it’s three times the price, but (unfortunately!) I think it might be worth it.

Wooooow, this stuff grew on me very quickly. I gave it a try after watching an Urban Dweller review (he's great at describing fragrances, I recommend his reviews).. It is somewhat familiar, I gave a thumbs up to Black Afgano as a "reminds me of" but doubt is smells at all the same side by side, that just popped into my head (I only sampled it). This stuff is awesome though. I got a couple compliments at work, which was a little surprising even though I think it's great, as it's a niche type smell as opposed to a crowd pleasing designer type of fragrance.. but I guess good smelling is good smelling, and this one is definitely that. Incense, leather and vetiver are listed notes that I can probably say are fairly good descriptions vibe-wise; however, wouldn't say it was dominant in any one of those exactly. Instead, I'd say it has all those plus some other notes that really just mesh well together. Very dark, mysterious vibe on one hand, but also somehow has a fresh element, which is why I felt ok wearing it to work. Like all things smell and taste wise, you can't really know what something will smell like until you actually do smell it, but some are more predictable based on note lists and descriptions. This one though, you really just need to smell it to understand. I wouldn't recommend a blind buy, or to anyone under 30 generally speaking. On the other hand, anyone who has ventured out for a while with trying a lot of things and who likes fragrances in this general category would most likely love this one. Nice projection, nice performance. Nice price for what you are getting, quality wise it's fantastic.

Well it was a matter of time. This is my 4th bottle of this beauty. What confused me is that, this smells much more linear, smoother, richer, not like all the previous ones which has some more direct harsh opening. I can't smell much of that incense note and that ink opening, but i can notice now the iris note. I bought this from flaconi.de, first time ordering fragrance from this site. I don't think that is fake or etc, it's just definitely some reformulation or different state of the perfume. This is my first time to look for batch code, I know this sounds boring, but, batch code on this one is 01181, on my still owned previous version is 92871. I am spraying them both on separate hands, there is definitely difference. If you had any similar experience or have some info please let me know in pm. 10/10 forever UPDATE: Compared to previous one which is more intense, fresh right from the opening, this newer version to me smells more discreet, better blended, feels like someone has imputed a tobacco leaf coated with honey, which makes this one even more pleasant and adds more complexity to the scent, the projection (1 - 2-feets) and longevity(3-4 hours, after that becomes a skin scent) are maybe a bit weaker, but those who wear this just cannot escape from this CdG indescribable DNA, and are aware of this magic feeling. Please don't compare this beauty with Encre Noire, doesn't make sense at all.

God knows how much I love this cologne. I'm finishing my third full bottle and have two more in my wardrobe cause in my country there's no CDG fragrances at all and once I got hooked, I had to stock. Many reviews will tell you about the connection to GPH1 and it's real. Until 5 years ago it was the most similar perfume out there but then Bentley Absolute appeared: Both of them (BA and GPH1) were formulated by the same perfumer Michel Almairac. Despite the differences between the 3 (GPH 1, BA and CDG2) I think all of them are excellent fragrances. GPH1 is discontinued and the Bentley made it unnecessary to pay crazy money for it on Ebay. At the very end, the battle is between BA and CDG2. To me, the latter is the winner: It projects better, has better longevity and an Iris note that makes it smell like an aromatic candle in a church. Instead, BA has a papyrus note that makes it smell like an old book; it's fine and I like it but not as much as CDG2 and I really can't understand why people say BA it's a monster in projection and longevity: While I'm writing this, I have both of them side by side and CDG2 performs the best. The only complaint I have is that in it's final stage it turns into something similar to Encre Noire because of a charred vetiver note and I'm not sure to enjoy that.

This is by long shot the best parfum that CDG ever created, and IMO one of the best 5 wood fragrances in the market.It's like walking in woods after rain while stepping on tree shells freshly torn apart.My nose gets the percentages of the ingredients differently than listed though: First of all there isn't any single shred of insence inside , none of the 5 insence sorts at all, and no leather either. Insence+Leather lovers, this is not the one you are looking for, believe me. What I get is 70% mahagony,but also other trees like cedar, teak and driftwood if my nose doesn't mistake me, then definitely nutmeg and caraway (cumin), some vetiver yes, if saffron is also there then very well disguised behind caraway, but I didn't get any qumquat , iris or basil (which is fine because the composition is already complete and perfect as it is) My nose is extremely sensitive against all synthetics including aldehydes, but do believe me, you don't realize this aldehyde at all, exactly as you don't notice the one inside CDs Dune. Extreme longevity even on skin (4 puffs in the morning, and in the evening I still can notice it in every moment of my torso) Projection excellent, people around me asking the entire day what I was wearing.I hope CDG never changes the formula or dilutes the concentration.

This is legendary! I cannot add anything new to the praise that this fragrance garners. Comme des Garçons 2 Man is what I feel is the scent cloud that hangs around the cool, wise, stylish world traveler. And to be perfectly honest I love to wear this fragrance on specific days; either rainy days or book shopping days (It is even better if these days coincide!). This smokey, woody masterpiece is just so beautiful on the skin and creates an aura of calm and intrigue around you instantly. The incense (CdG does incense better than any house!), leather and vetiver just frame the richness of the mahogany so well. The iris, kumquat and the caraway give this fragrance a beautiful floral earthiness that simply acts to accentuate the richer notes. The aldehydes do a great job of giving CdG2's notes atmospheric amplification. This fragrance performs fantastically and projects just enough. Comme de Garçons has created a real gem here and a statement fragrance for sure! For me this is a very ritual experience when wearing this fragrance, so I tend to keep it out of the office. This is for the 25 and up crowd and deserves to be worn when you are outdoors or out on the town exploring. Give CdG2 a few sprays when some calm and enlightenment are needed against a relentless urban setting.

Oooooooooh I treated my amazing hubby to this fragrance As prices for his beloved Gucci pour homme (2003) Are going crazy now. Well it's very similar. A wonderfully rich aroma of expensive incense,spices and wood's. His bottle is from 2012 and has great potency for a couple of hours , but is softly still there a good few more hours in. I really love it , masculine, sweet, wonderfully smokey And perfect for his skin as he seems to bring out sweeter notes and if I'm not mistaken some adorable leather too there is an interesting ink note i kinda like very much. Comme des garçons is mostly vetiver and incense and I c why it is called simply man2. Sexy or what ! All man ! Perfect for winter nuzzling by the fire ( i dont even have a fire lol ) and a great replacement for Gucci in some ways. Also it is modern and somehow retro too, very beautiful sexy Fragrance, a favourite. This has been beautifully crafted even if there are some differences to a more trained nose, to me they are both amazing real manly fragrances, I'm unsure about it being unisex , I see it as all man , pencil shavings and all ! Would recommend this and I'll definitely be buying it again ! 10/10

My local Sephora now carries some of the Comme des Garcons line, so naturally I got samples. This is one of the relatively few incense-based scents I like. It's complex... my first take on it was woody-spicy, but then the stuff settled down and the incense came to the fore. But I read this as sort of piney-smokey. Like aromatic burning wood. Somebody made a comparison to Encre Noire, and I agree, although this seems to be a sort of second counsin to that popular fragrance. This is more of an incense-smoke scent rather than EN's vetiver-smoke scent. I don't detect mint at all, and any leather is very subtle. Weird bottle! Longevity is about the usual thing these days: disappointing. On me it's nearly gone in a few hours. On cotton, very faint. Can we please go back to making scents that last? ------------ A second test: This and Wonderwood are two excellent woody scents. I like Comme des Garcon's use of incense... this smells mysterious and somewhat campfirey. Dry, too. Austere. And I can detect the nutmeg. I like it. Problem, though - it doesn't seem to last at all. A pity.

Comme des Garcons 2 Man is an ambience seldom captured in perfume. Opening damp and cool, it dries down dry and waxy, flourishes of peppery woods, with Iso E Super used effectively by Mark Buxton to exalt the elements. It feels like an outdoor to indoor transition, and when we come in from the external landscape into the internal hearth, it gets warmer, and aldehydes settle ever more waxy, with that snuffed out candle sensation seizing the heart. The nutmeg accord interacting with vetiver further fleshes out the woodiness here, making CDG 2 Man feel so textured to the nose, rendered powdery by ionones and irones further into the development, a touch of blue to contrast with the mahogany hue. It simmers down to a still incense until it slowly fades from the skin. Perhaps more nuanced than certain noses desire, CDG 2 Man requires perhaps more patient noses who aren't so concerned about what comes next, how noticeable it will be, and how long it will last. Just let it do its work, and enjoy it, moment by moment.

Early in my perfume learning I bought Man2 for my scent-averse boyfriend. I'd loved it on a tester strip in the store and wanted to smell it again. He never wore it. For months it sat in the cabinet next to his deodorant until one night I got brave and spritzed it on before bed. It's not overly smoky, and the incense is not overly harsh. The drydown is smooth and very very sexy. But because it was a "man" scent and I was new to perfume wearing, I confined my enjoyment of it to my house. Then one night my boyfriend nuzzled my neck and told me I smelled wonderful. It had never occurred to me that a masculine scent on a woman could be sexy! Now I'll wear this out and about when I want to feel hot. I've since dabbled in more masculine fragrances, and though the core of what I wear definitely leans toward the feminine floral side of things I find I do enjoy a good smoky woody scent every now and then. None I've sniffed so far pleases me like Man 2, though.

To me, this starts out very similar to Gucci Pour Homme, as everyone suggests, but much quieter. It's not as strong, but the top notes are smoother, with less cumin and sweat, probably because it has less cedar and more of a variety of exotic woods. It's also less sweet, so altogether more realistic so far. It starts to get more resinous and piney, not to mention stronger, and I agree that it's smoky without going overboard as some do (I haven't even gotten to their Incense series yet!). Later on, though, I start to find a funky acridness...maybe a bit too much of the campfire smoke is finally getting into the tent? Still, the base provides some smooth, sweet wood of the type I usually like. Regarding the question that people ask (whether to buy Gucci PH or CdG 2 Man), I think it's about a toss-up. Both are a tepid thumbs-up, though I'll give this one the edge for being more natural.

A little dry ink in the beginning as aposed to wet ink with SMW. This makes me think of Green IrishTweed though smells nothing alike but transforms the same way .. maybe an "in the middle" with GPH.. kinda like vetiver incense take on it .. also reminiscent of the way issey miyake dries down into a fuzzy smoothness or bleu de Chanel and gets better with time.. but this is done way better and completely smooth and non offensive or harsh like issey can be.. It takes a minute to get it but after you do it's all love from there.. very unique yet safe and high quality! If I could say I made any fragrance at all it would be this one as of now.. and it's been a long long time.. If I had to choose one this would be it. I plan on having a narrow quality selection soon and this will always be there.

To my nose 2Man is a very complex scent, i mean not only the smell changes from one main accord to another, the smell also changes from cold to hot weather, but one thing is for sure: incense, and more incense and more incense. It's a very realistic religious sort of incense, not only smoke from woods, as in Encre noire or even Wonderwood. No, it's almost as one could smell and hear the turibulum swinging in front of the altar during mass, Catholic mass. I agree that it's a bit difficult to feel in the mood for 2Man, or Blue Encens for that matter, because of the rites atmosphere, but apart from that is a very nice scent, it works just right in hot/warm weather and it changes all the time, apart from the frankincense, of course. I might not be for everybody. Yes, but I like it.

#1303 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. Caraway is not a note I hunt for. I associate it with cheese, though it's a note in many scents I own. Seems to be a go-to for Jean Paul Gaultier. I haven't actually detected it in any scent before now. It's quite prominent in this scent and makes this blend unique. I'm also an absolute devotee of Iris as a scent note, also nicely detectable here, but you can easily pick out all the notes. I haven't found that to be the case in but a handful of fragrances All-in-all the this is very nicely done, leans masculine, moderate but acceptable performance. Won't offend anyone, so you can get away with this any setting. I would even consider this a potential signature scent, and I'm definitely adding this to my collection.

Until recently, CdG 2MAN has been my signature frag for about 5 years. Whenever I wear other frags and come back to 2MAN, I'm amazed at how much I still love it. I'd read a 2MAN review where someone stated that "this is my crack". Now that might be a bit of a stretch, but I do get it. As far as a good fragrance goes, I suppose that I too am addicted to this gorgeous, masculine scent. To my olfactory senses, it's one of, if not THE best fragrance I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing...thus far anyway. I will absolutely NEVER be without a bottle of this incredibly gorgeous, sexy juice! CdG Wonderwood is another good one, as is the silver bottled inky scent of "2". In fact, I find several CdG's offerings to be quite exquisite. Good stuff baby! :-))

I love fragrances that have a lot going on, and 2 Man definitely falls into that category. It undoubtedly confirms the genius of Mark Buxton. This scent evokes strong emotions, and it's impossible to remain indifferent to it. During testing, I took an abundance of notes, and I can’t remember the last time I wrote such a lengthy review. These perfumes also possess an undeniably masculine character — they're sharp, bold, and thick with smoke. Personally, I recommend compositions like this especially for autumn. I should note that younger guys might find its richness a bit overwhelming. However, it has fully won me over. Could a bottle soon find its way onto my shelf? We’ll see. My rating: Highly recommended! (7/7)

I am so annoyed!! I love the scent — on a blotter, it's sweet caramelised nuts in a wooden bowl, maybe with a tiny bit of warm spices. It's called "man" but for me it feels more androgynous. I would instantly trust someone if they were to smell like that. I want to smell like this myself. But. On my skin, it's gone not after hours — but after minutes. I reapply again and again, and I'm curious what is going on. Unfortunately, there's no one around to tell me if i smell like anything. Maybe I'm going crazy and just loosing some very specific nose buds, and people around would feel it. Or maybe it just doesn't stick to my body. Anyway, I'm going to empty the sample bottle now and check if it gets better.

This is very easy for me, beeing in the past my signature fragrance for quite a while. What really compells me about CDG2M is Buxton's ability to give it an overall incensey waxy feeling that's at the same time very realistic and completely synthetic. Let me put it in a different way. CDG2M smells like smoky-frankincense but it's clearly not made out from frankinense. It has the same astringent citrusy feeling but it's somehow smothered by a large dose of aldheydes that add an odd and barely sweet touch to the overall effect. Unique, abstract and very distinctive. In my opinion, they just made one mistake at CDG, they should have named it Odeur 72! Rating: 8.5/10

I LOVE this scent! The reviews here do it justice, churchy vibe, woody, bit of incense, bit of spice, caraway, burning wood and smidge of vetiver. The aldehydes, give it that slight synthetic touch that remind you its a CDG scent - something that I now like and hence why Ive become a CDG fan like so many - its that kinda smell that when people in the know smell they go - yep def a CGD. Like so many its not my normal kinda go to but its got me hooked... respectable longevity and silage for an EDT. It seriously, seriously reminds me of Johnson and Johnsons No Tears baby shampoo though i'd need to double check that lol... any body else think so?

A unique, complex, rich, masculine, and seductive fragrance. It opens with an explosion of kumquat combined with strong spices and smoke, perfectly capturing the photorealistic scent of an expensive scented candle being blown out. Over time, you can catch hints of Coca-Cola, but with added depth. This is an example of a beautifully blended perfume where the incense base doesn't lean churchy, balanced by a complex profile and added sweetness. It becomes a skin scent after a few hours. Imagery it evokes: a modernist apartment interior, a vintage barbershop, a luxury wellness spa, high-end hard soap, Patrick Bateman's office fragrance. 8/10

I went in to buy Comme's Wonderwood and tested 2 Man on a whim. My girlfriend and I both agreed the opening note was just like chrysanthemum tea. Slightly sweet, a little minty and floral. I went home with Wonderwood (which I equally love) but couldn't stop spraying the tester before bed. It evolves from tea to more of what most people smell—incense. But not heavy, smoky incense. It's ephemeral, vaporous, more steam-like. A truly calming, meditative, spa-like scent. The only "downside" is that it is rather intimate, not very projecting or strong sillage, but I think that's how it was meant to be.

Freshly blown out candle smoke. A snuffed match. Burning incense. All of the greatest bitter nuances of these smells are captured and yet it is never too austere. It remains completely wearable. To me it smells both familiar and new at the same time. Vetiver keeps it grounded and likable. And yet a moist, noticeably cologne-y DNA keeps it freshened up, prevented from becoming too dark. It is just so perfect for me. Supremely good balancing act. Unmistakably masculine, bold, dark, mysterious, creative, and unique. And somehow, you can wear it anywhere without ever second guessing it. 9.8/10

When some time ago I bought this fragrance I thought this smells very strange !, but I soon came to mind the smell of incense in the Catholic Church and in the processions of Holy Week in Spain . In the head during the first minutes of incense notes , leather, aldehydes , and even kumquat vetyver are noticeable . After an hour the smell changes and becomes a combo of incense , mahogany and leather something with a little vetyver . A masculine scent of incense and woody , mystical , strong and durable enough although the sillage is normal. Worth the price. Perfect for winter and fall.

I love what one of my friends said about this because this house does this very well. He said "This is like an avant-garde version of gucci pour homme(2003)!". It is a weird masculine sexy vetiver, some what metalic and inky opening supported by the brightness of the aldehydes and later turns into a woody leathery incense driven masterpiece. I love the house of comme de garcons, and idk if this was there intentions but I love their weird representation of gucci pour homme. Plus it's a cheaper alternative sense gucci is discontinued! :(

Knew I had to try this when I saw it equated to the smell of a snuffed out candle, that’s one of my favourite smells in the world. And between the prominent smoke/incense and the waxy quality that’s exactly what I’m getting! I also pick up pretty strongly on a sweet fizz buzzing through the opening and middle stages, like the candle was extinguished by an accidental spill of cola. Projects enough that you know it’s there without blasting everyone in the room, settles closer in the later stages. I get around 8-10 hours on skin all up.

Man do I need a bottle of this. After using a 1ml sample of this, I can confidently say this is one of my personal favorites and I was devastated that the decant ran out lol. The incense paired with the leather adds such a comforting and alluring touch. This woody and smoky scent reminds me so much of fall, that it would even feel wrong to use it in any other season. This is THE fragrance I would always use on a rainy fall night. It also lasted around 7 hours on my skin, pretty solid. Very underrated fragrance, in my opinion, 9/10. 🍂

This instantly reminded me of Bentley for Men Absolute. This one is a little bit more sweet and less dry than Absolute. Coincidentally, I got a sample of this the day after I sold my Bentley bottle. The differences are very small, but this one is very addicting. I keep wanting to smell my wrist over and over. It might be the iris in this, since this is a note that I love. This is the perfect fragrance if you are still a young chap, wanting to dip your toes into the world of dry woody gentlemen fragrances.

The incense in it is not as dominant as I expected after reading some of the reviews here. Which is a good thing in my opinion. It’s woody and aromatic. The incense is in there, but to me it doesn’t smell like a church interior, albeit it does have a Christmas or even nativity vibe to it. I am surely going to wear it on Christmas Eve supper and then throughout Christmas, I have nothing better suited in my collection. The longevity seems above average and the projection is just right. Overall I love it.

My very first reaction was that it had something which reminded me of Antonio Puigs Quorom and then I saw on the bottle that even this bottle was a product of Antonio Puig. Are they similar? No, this one is smokier and more refined and has some similarities with Byredo Accord Oud. Quorom is louder, more classic and in your face. I prefer this one over Quorom but Accord Oud beats this one easily. Longevity and projection are quite poor. Scent: 7.5/10 Longevity: 6/10 Projection: 6/10

Really nice manly frag. If there was a threesome between Montale Full Incense, Gucci pour Homme I, and Juicy Couture Dirty English, this is what would be created. Brash peppery woods, churchy incense, and some of that nice pencil shavings feel make a very solid scent. I had gotten rid of Dirty English because it smelled kind of cheap, but this is such a nice upgrade, I may have to get a bottle once my 9ml is done. Btw, notino has the 9ml for less than $10, at the time of purchase.

I love this. One of my top 5 ever. The strong incense is definitely churchy, snuffed out candle like. However, its tempered by a heavy dose of spice, a rich mahogany and a hint of leather. It was a fragrance that for the first year I kind of wore really for myself as I thought it was a bit much to unleash on the public. I couldn't care less now. I wear it a lot through the winter. (Wouldn't dream of giving it an airing in summer heat). Sacrilegious.

I had the CdG #2 and enjoyed it very much.I bought this one and" WOW ;this is something else."..Very very heavy opening.Masculine and sharp.a very bolt opening.and after 20+ Minutes it tunes down to a pretty much the same scent as in the opening.lasts all day, but after a while it becomes a skin scent.Incense and leather all the way to the end.This is a cold night out scent. 7.5/10 for my rating.I enjoy this one too....

A very good, high quality masculine scent from the 2000s. I like the spicy composition in connection with sweetness and a piece of dirt that defined Obsession for Men in the 1980s, but in this case it is not as heavy but rather laid underneath by leather. Beautifully composed and manly in a likeable way, in this category I prefer Costume Nationale Homme nevertheless. ****

Great blend ! It smells totally masculine! kumquat incense and woods mixed all together the better way they could! The only issue with that one is that on my skin doesnt last.. Maybe cause its summer now but i can barelly smell it and after one two hours i cant smell it at all.. Maybe new batch is reformulated and its a pitty cause i love the way it smells...

I was mesmerised by Le Labo Vetiver but couldn't wear it on myself, it was too strong for me and causes a headache, but I loved the scent itself as a fan of Incense. Also, I noticed that CGD 2 man is very similar and bought a sample. So now I'm happy with it! It has the same scent as Le Labo, but not so intense, a way softer and I can wear it any time.

Blind ordered and was not disappointed. Just taking a whiff of the cap it smells luxurious, stand-out, indie in a good sense. The only downside is that after applying it to skin i get a bit too much incense and sweetness which can give it a sense of uncleanliness. I don't know what to think, people either hate it or love it. I am still addicted to it.

It was my signature for more than 10 years. A creative masterpiece. The opening has a buzz of woody citrus (kumquat) and a hint of smoke. Then, you get the spices, rich woods and the cleanest, airy incense. There is also some kind of an inky stuff in it. It ́s really complex, warm and dry. I truly feel like home everytime I wear it. A piece of art!

One of my favorites in my collection, something I wear year round for special occasions, usually at night time. Sort of has a mature generic drug store cologne smell mixed with incense and some earth. The incense is the star of this fragrance, reminds me of the smell of a catholic/orthodox church mixed with the leather and woody notes.

I walked out of a sauna in the bleak midwinter and then into a tiny old church. It's dark. It's empty. Matte, fir hardwood floor. Six candles still burning in the altar. My skin smells of crisp vetiver and iso-e-super, and I can tell they were burning incense in here a few hours ago. Hosanna in excelsis!

When I smell this, I wanna throw on an early 90s paper thin Slayer shirt, wear loose, ankle high Giorgio Armani trousers, coarse feet in heavy-soled leather sandals, slick my hair back, smoke a spliff, listen to John Lee Hooker, ride my bike and let the fresh springwind put it all back in perspective.

I love this scent. I have been wearing it since it was released. Personally I don't think it smells like any other scent on the market. This scent along with Wonderwood and Black are my go to scents. Thank you Comme des Garcons for making the world a better smelling place. This is my trademark scent.

One of my favorite from CdG. Incense, wood and saffron, not too heavy. Can be worn any season any time of the day in my opinion. Longevity is not ideal, around 2-3 гhours on me I would say.. Would love for it to be more lasting, but I love the scent and wouldn't mind reapplying. Might buy again.

What a hidden gem. Its woody, fizzy and yet somehow light - very hard to describe the scent but I do get doses of the leather, mahogany and vetiver with some mint/aldehydes. If the Le Labo is close to this, I need to try because this has just become a staple and seems I may need to stock up.

Been using this for a while but never noticed that this smell like Encre Noir (which i love) but a bit brighter than it . My only problem with this is that it turns into barbershop around the dry down which i dont like so much. Overall, a wonderful fragrance.

such a strange, liminal, refreshing yet cozy scent. like terre d’Hermes but much more playful & relaxed. I definitely get the mint / kumquat/ aldehydes in the opening. addicting to me in an abstract way, on the cusp of youth & manhood. unique in so many ways.

I get a blast of waxy aldehydes, like a snuffed candle that gives way to incense and vetiver. Further down the polished wood comes through to hang round with the incense. I get a slight churchy vibe countered with a bit of dirtiness. Feels a tiny bit risqué
