Floriental

My oh my! This is stunning. I had a feeling I might like it but wow...I'm blown away by it. Started out beautifully enough with a strong plum note which even my girlfriend identified (I'm finally rubbing off on her...not a euphemism..) it's like aspects of my favourite perfumes rolled into one, then released by one of my favourite houses. Floriantal is a perfect storm if you like and it had to happen sooner or later. I'm giddy with excitement about this perfume...anyway as I was saying that lush plummy opening is mixed with the sweet spice of pink pepper and incense. I was thinking if this just has an Ambery warm dry down it will be great...but it's better than that folks. Now that this has dried down its pure Labdanum/myrrh and high quality sandalwood it smells very much like Aramani Myrrhe imperial...seriously. What a transition though because as great and incensy as the opening is I didn't think it would end up here? It's like a two (or more) for one! Really this is not just mindless hyperbole....I adore this fragrance!!!!! All this is a fragrance called floriental and it has almost nothing to do with flowers!!! Well actually no, the heart and top notes do have an exotic floral essence in there and this reimagining of a flower (reminiscent of some kind of blossom like plum Japonais) actually works really well. I'm going to say it...masterpiece. Pure and simple...I'm fairly easily pleased but don't take anything away from the high praise I'm giving this fragrance because it deserves it. It doesn't quite have the devestating power of Blue Santal but even has a little bit of the same feel throughout and performance is excellent...truly excellent. Please do yourselves a favour an check out this fragrance it's an ultra modern surprise package which I am more than happy with....as you can probably tell.

I just try Floriental from CdG when I pass through the shops, I like it because it is very close in DNA to CdG Wonderoud/wood. If you can't take the full throttle dry woods and spices of Wonderoud/wood, but appreciate that distinct cashmeran-sandalwood-peppery DNA, then you should definetely try Floriental. It comes in a metallic-red box as in other CdG line, and marketed as more feminine. However in my opinion this is as masculine as Wonderwood and Wonderoud, only more floral. Ofc charming on a woman as well. I think it's very underrated, perhaps in the shadow of other successful CdG fragrances. In my opinion this is the 3rd best after Wonderoud and Wonderwood. I like it because it's not so different than WW, but just a bit more powdery, balsamic and slightly floral version. I do not get the plum note distinctly. Maybe my nose is not trained for that. All I get is a very close floral variation of WW and WO. Top fragrance IMO. Update: Just doing a side by side comparison of Floriental with Wonderwood and Wonderoud. I was wrong by not getting the obvious plum note in my earlier tests in the shop. Now doing this in home environment, no other smell distractions, and I clearly get the difference of Floriental. The DNA is the same with WW and WO, however there's significant difference and Floriental smells more rosey powdery, could be the damascones, kind of dried plums/prune plus a powdery iris effect a la Prada frags, and it definitely has some pink pepper freshness whereas WW/WO has strong black pepper/vetiver notes. Vetiver seems to be toned down in Floriental, maybe a little in the opening.

Given the name I did not expect this to be of much interest to me - I'm not usually particularly keen on floral scents. The notes and reviews indicated otherwise, so I bought a sample. There is a scene in an episode of the Simpsons where a Yoko Ono-esque character orders a single plum, floating in perfume served in a man's hat. This is what I imagine when I smell this. I will echo the others who have mentioned Plum Japonais, I find Floriental very reminiscent but WAY less overbearing in the way TF Private Blend frags tend to be. I find this to be rather unlike most of CdG's offerings I've tried so far, and despite featuring incense, it does not exude the typical incense note I associate with this house. It might not be an entirely original scent, but it's certainly unique standing next to your average department store fare. Overall it's a really nice unisex fragrance, spicy and fruity (not fresh fruit, more like the Serge Lutens sort of heavy stewed fruits) with a woody base that comes through pretty strong (Sandalwood, I suppose). I don't pick up much Vetiver but I don't doubt its presence. Performance seems good from the sample I tried; good longevity (especially for a CdG) and projection seems appropriate for such a heavy fragrance (ie. it's there, but it shouldn't choke anyone sitting next to you). Price is mid-range, given the performance and quality of scent I think it's reasonable. Scent: 8/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 8/10 Price: 7/10 Overall: 7/10

Wow. I'm so glad I gave this a second shot. I fell backwards onto this fragrance trying to find a sweet spicy floral oriental fragrance, and on a whim I searched for 'Floriental' and added this decant to my list at Perfumed Court. The first time I tried it on skin, I was immediately put off because I had so many spicy fragrances that were far too masculine. You know that sharp spicy ozone of like Burberry men's cologne's? I kept getting that in a lot of my 'spicy' fragrances. And the opening of this fragrance is.... powerful. I almost immediately discounted it. But the drydown. OH but the DRYDOWN. Friends. Come to me. Sing the praises of the drydown of this fragrance. The sweetened spices and warm jammy plums... I just want to spray this on a wool jacket and sit by a fire outside next to some Christmas trees. This is... magic. Pink pepper with Sandalwood and incense gets you that warm sticky spice without being straight up cinnamon, which can read so badly sometimes. I LOVE cinnamon but it can read as almost sweat or BO, or get way too gourmand and remind you of pies... But this fragrance nails it. Sweet, spicy, dark. The opening is HARSH but it's what creates the longevity, and the drydown is where it lives. Don't get me wrong, it's in the same zipcode as the Burberry men's line (Brit, Mr. etc...) but the drydown takes a gorgeous left turn with a sweet plum. Loving it. I get the comparisons to PJ by TF but I like this better.

Like many of the Puig CdG's (the ones in those flat oval bottles), I find Floriental to be nothing overly earth shattering in a creative sense, but still very pleasant to wear and it certainly distinguishes itself enough from the mainstream to allow the wearer to feel a little unique and mysterious. The name may be a tad misleading (I know people have been surprised that it isn't at all floral), but that's another story. The scent itself to me is luscious and basenote heavy but also really lovely, with an extremely wearable plum note and wafts of labdanum, framed by that famous CdG incense, pepper and wood base. It reminds me a lot of Tom Ford's Plum Japonaise and also somewhat of Bond No9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory, but it's still different enough to be a viable alternative, especially to the Bond. It's 100% identifiable as a CdG scent, despite any subjective similarities to those other two. It develops quite well, revealing more of its incense and sandalwood heart as time passes. Longevity is quite good and I find its projection to be fairly subtle, which is perfect for what is a reasonably dense or 'heavy' scent. Overall I think it's an eminently likeable, unisex, all seasons (but leaning towards cooler weather), fragrance that whilst being only slightly left of centre in a designer world, is still daring enough to make you stand out amongst a lot of the beige nothings worn by many humans. And that's a good thing!

I blind bought Floriental based on the fact that I love incense and plum notes and Commes des Garçons Series 3 shows that the brand knows how to make incense perfumes well. And I wasn't wrong, I absolutely love this. At the opening it smells a little like Dr Pepper soda (and even looks like that colour wise) and male sweat (in a good, sexy way). Later it settles in a gorgeous fruity sandalwood. It's a little dark but still playful. I can sense plum and frankincense most but all the notes indicated are present too. It's a very well blended composition and I freaking love it. I was worried about sandalwood in this because someone mentioned similarities with Chambre Noire, which on my skin was nothing but pickles. Floriental's sandalwood turned out great, nice and soft woody blend with labdanum, which reminds me of Encens Roi's dry down rather than Chambre Noir. All together this smells like a guy who just came out of a gym, poured himself a glass of Dr Pepper and went with it to a church. And it's fantastic. I love Comme des Garçons for their courage to experiment. Despite the fact that I mentioned a sweaty guy, this will work well on women too because of its fruitiness and sweetness. Very sexy scent, good all year around (in my opinion), much recommend for incense and plum lovers.

Delicious! Went from a decant to a miniature only to get a big bottle later, so here we are. Gorgeous plums drowning in incense with a dash of pepper and some rounded sandalwood action going on. It does not play around trying to come off as some pseudo-oriental scent. I do get some synthetic notes but that's what makes CdG for me. This sounds weird but this frag feels "cold", despite incense and labdanum, yet I'd call it an incense plum liquor if this was a thing, not home-brewed but AI-generated. Thick but not cloying at all. Performance is average, sillage is light to medium. As for the comparisons, Plum Japonais smells really similar but I feel like it's somewhat heavier on the spices. I have a friend who's a fan of PJ and there was one day when we met with her wearing it and me wearing Floriental, the similarity was so obvious! I made her a decant and now she's got a FB of Floriental, admitted this stuff is addictive! All the upvotes on Feminité du Bois make sense too, but I would never label them as dupes, Feminité feels lighter, it's musky and I get a lot of cedarwood, it feels more feminine while Floriental feels totally unisex. I'd define Feminité du Bois as plum+cedarwood while Floriental would be plum+incense.

Brooding Red. Floriental is a gorgeous yet serious scent. Juicy, barely-fruity plums combine with melancholic incense & softly woody sandalwood, & completed with a light dash of pink pepper. The plum is not very fruitily sweet but it still has some leathery fruitiness. The labdanum and vetiver are not overt notes in here. Woody, soft, musky, serious, dark, spicy, lightly-fruity. This is a great release by CdG. I get the comparison with Tom Ford Plum Japonais. There is a similarity with the woody plum smell. However, I prefer Floriental. The notes are perfectly balanced, & it doesn't come out too fruity nor too woody - just right. While Plum Japonais leans more on the cinnamon and woody notes, make it heavier and louder. This woody/spicy fragrance leans much more masculine than feminine. It is a perfect romantic fragrance for cool nights. The performance, like most CdGs, seems to be quite average. I "Love" it.

East meets West - a perfect balance of oriental spiciness and more mainstream designer sweetness. Floriental opens up with a beautifully juicy plum note combined with a spicy punch from the pepper. True to its name, it has an oriental feel throughout, and for me, the plum lasts right through into the dry-down which is nice. As it dries down it becomes softer, and you get a sweet, smooth sandalwood vibe which actually reminded me of PdM Layton a bit. The incense also comes through fairly subtly, but enough to give it more depth and intrigue. For me, the performance is good but not great. This is perfect for those colder days and nights, and I think this would be a great fragrance to bridge the gap between designer and niche as it is different and unique, while still being mass-appealing and likeable. Floriental is the first Comme des Garcons fragrance I've smelled, and it's made me want to try more!

The other day I was driving home from work with the windows cracked and I could smell the fall air seeping in, or at least the scent I associate most strongly with season: the crisp, woody odor of a forest floor dense with bright reds and yellows and every shade in between (I swear the woods/trees have a slightly different smell as they're losing their leaves), the the smoke of woodstoves flaring to life after laying dormant all summer, and the fruity, almost cider-like tang you get as you pass an apple orchard. Then I realized I don't drive past any orchards when I go that way, and that what I was actually smelling was the Floriental I'd put on that morning. Or maybe it was the fragrance mixing with the fall air; regardless, the point is that they were so similar and blended together so seamlessly as to be effectively indistinguishable. What more could you ask for from a fall scent?

This is like an impressionist painting of a perfume; CdG's homage to a genre, painted from a distance in an abstract way. Plum and woods swirl around Japanese cherry blossom incense and burning oud. The vetiver adds a somber smoky blanket like a coat of varnish which finishes the perfume off and seals it in some kind of grey box. If I had to paint a visual rendition of this fragrance, I'd take an enormous canvas and paint it grey and then add a stripe of dark purple and another of turquoise. Most of the canvas remains grey, dry and barren. This is indeed suitable for either gender, although it smells "dressy" so it wouldn't suit the gym or anything too casual - particularly for a guy. Longevity and sillage are both good. This beast certainly has tenacity. For me, Floriental is a real winner. It layers extremely well with attars also, particularly mukhallats.

I have no clue how I've managed to overlook Floriental all these years - this stuff is nuts! The opening is a fruity and dense. Can't miss the plum note. Drying down, the incense creeps in in the background, but never in a suffocating or overpowering fashion (which incense may do occasionally). Rather, it balances the fruity aspects beautifully, giving the scent some dryness and airyness. After an hour, you're left with a soft, creamy, and elegant and scent with some oriental floral undertones. I wouldn't call Floriental a dark scent, but it has certain mysterious qualities to it. Like most CdG creations (both scents and the clothes) it's certainly unusual and intriguing. Can be worn up or worn down. Day, night, office, leisure - really, almost any occasion! Sadly, in typical CdG fashion, the performance leaves something to be desired.

I am very surprised that this does not get the attention that it deserves. Managed to pick it up at £50 which is a steal, it is my favourite of any CDG fragrance. I get a blast of sweet natural plum, tobacco, wood, incense and spices which is strong but not overpowering. This smells "rich" (literally like a rich, eccentric, confident guy), unique and intoxicating. I just keep smelling the bottle as this smell is too good. I find it more on the masculine side because of the tobacco and incense and even young guys can pull this off in the day or the night. Can wear this semi-formal, formal no problem. To me the plum smells like Tom Ford plum japonaise, and this IMO is more interesting and for the fraction of the price. Only for the colder seasons or summer nights. for me 9/10

This has a lot going on. It's fruity,smoky,and ambery. Too bad I only had a dab on vial but the dry down on this is heavenly. I am a big plum lover to begin with but mixed with the smokiness from the incense and amber touch from labdanum this is a must try for anyone looking for a great Fall/Winter scent that won't break the bank. I do get a metallic vibe as well which has been a trademark in previous CDG offerings but it's not as pronounced. Don't expect a beast mode scent as that is a Mancera/Montale/Tauer/Amouage trademark but not CDG. Do expect a well blended scent with many phases that is completely unisex. Extra kudos to whoever the perfumer is for making the plum note lasts the duration of the scent and having decent projection.

Got this as a complete blind-buy bargain. Which feels like such an amazing deal now that I know what this is. It is a warm, approachable, woody scent with that nice plummy top that lingers for quite a while. I find that even though the notes make it out to be sort of a "night scent" - the airy quality and the spicy character with the wood base makes for a great office-wear. Not that compliments are at all a focus of mine, but this one has garnered me a lot of attention. Knowing that you can no longer get a hold of this here in Norway makes it even better. If you're on the fence - don't hesitate. Pull the trigger. It is an amazing scent. I can't see anyone not enjoying this one. (Bold statement, I know. Fight me.)

Beautiful stuff. I tried a sample of this on a strip card at a retailer along with several other fragrances. This is the one that stood out the most. The next day most of the other samples had faded beyond recognition however the Floriental strip still smelled strong. Pepper is strong in the opening along with plum, incense and sandalwood. I get a boozy, whiskey vibe from it as well.It settles nicely into the drydown. Longevity is great, lasts a long time. Projection however is strong initially but settles. Probably the best from the CDG range. Recommended! Ratings Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Scent: 8.8/10

This is my signature scent. I see girls on tiktok recommending “rock star girlfriend” scents that all smell like cherry or tobacco and they’re so contrived and inaccurate. This smells like effortless rock and roll. Like you rolled out of an opium den. It’s smoky it’s enigmatic. It smells like leather. There’s the slightest sweetness on the opening from the plum combined with spice of pepper but the remaining notes are mysterious, grounded by sandalwood, and unisex. But. Do not blind buy this. Everyone loves it on me but it does not suit any of my friends. Otherwise. Highly recommend.

This is real nice! I have and love WonderOud, and WonderWood, now gonna be needing a bottle of this. That's 3 for 3 for me, and becoming one of my favorite houses! Yeah, it seems to have the CDG dna, but different enough not to be redundant to hace these 3. I get a slightly sweet beautiful plum note that has been soaked in wine, incense, maybe a hint of leather. Don't really smell very floral to me, maybe extract..? Projection not too good, longevity is about 7-8 hrs on me. Definitely worth the price!

Absolutely unisex, relatively feminine on women's skin, and masculine on my skin. Crazy high quality niche vibe, extreme lasting power, unique, and very pleasent scent. Can't wait to purchase a bottle. Woods and incence strike me at first spray, soon enough it develops a plumy sweetness and in the middle of this composition blooms an imaginary flower I can ́t name, probably the combination between labdanum and sandalwood, similar to a violet-orchid-peach flower bouquet, heavenly! Vetiver gives it a perfect contour. The sillage and longevity aren ́t as good as wished for, but I can ́t take my nose from my wrist. Hypnotising beauty!

Blind bought this one after it got a very good discount (70 euro). Unique, seductive, masculine, and potent scent. It is very creative and different. longevity is good for me (10-12 hrs ). After that you can still feel it but weak. At very Late dry down I got a similar vibe of Reflection man. but totally they are different scents! for that price, it's absolutely a steal! Best of CDG for sure so far!

Just bought it, just gorgeous smell the pink pepper blast in the beginning will open your senses then its starts balancing off with the plum base and the incense. Very creative scent to say the least, very contemporary feel. I don't consider this fragrance to be a signature scent — more for very special occasions a night out with group of friends, lounge or simply a very elegant night. Love it!

Yeah this stuff is freaking incredible. Such a beautiful woody, boozy, sandalwood with slight smoky notes from the incense. Absolutely gorgeous. And the longevity and projection is a lot better than what some people below me are saying. I get 8 hours with this easily. Spray it a few times and let this macerate for 6 months and it will definitely become stronger. 9.5/10!!

This one is very innovative and the similarity to plum japonaise is very minor to me the fragrances uses cold incense in an amazing way, blending it with dried plum that yet carry some freshness the sandalwood is present yet subtle to support the incense furthermore it is a very lovely fragrance not very talked about but it deserves a much wider recognition.

This got me into cdg fregrences, very likeble and grown up, my friends love it but my gf hates it she says it smells like old bulding full of homeless peapole, but i really want to have full bottle, its just too expensive for me rn. I love the plum note, its not jucy but dry and smokey with loveley wood and peper 8/10 Great winter fregfence

Dried plum or plum jam used to make biscuits (translation: cookies), and those CdG characteristics of incense/vetiver. I love it. An easy wear for me. Extremely sweet and fruity but somehow not overly, or perhaps just the type of sweet fruity that I like, leaning to the warm side, incense in the background. Brilliantly done.

got a 2ml tester of this and I'm in swooning in love. the spicy, floral plum opening took my breath away, and the smokey incense that blooms underneath only made it better. this somehow feels niche and magical to me. I would buy a FB of this based simply on how gorgeous it smells alone

Floriental is one of the more amber/woody fragrances I have that I really really love!! It's a woody oriental perfume through and through. I feel like a mysterious woman when I wear this, and maybe it's just me it pairs really lovely with a black outfit. Love it, truly <3

Wow, for me it's a heavenly blend of sweet floral and smoky woody notes. The name fits it well. I'll just wear it to test out the longevity, as this is a common issue with CDG frags, but otherwise I'm happy wearing the scent and I will add it to my bottle list.

I can't wait to get my nose on this.Comme des Garçon are brilliant and the notes look like my wet dream. Seriously everything in here is my favourite...Labdanum, plum, sandalwood, incense, pink pepper...I've gotta have this...I just hope it's not awful.

$152 CAD is a small price to pay for a small piece of heaven. Revisiting this from the past and got a new bottle. Such a stunning perfume. A rich, sweet, slightly smokey. I smell warm spice, a tiny bit leathery. It's good. In my opinion underrated.

What a stunner! It is thick, incense-y, floral and spicy, woody. This does not go by without being noticed. How anyone can describe it as a "faint oriental" is beyond me. Lasting power is bomb! Quality absolutely surpasses the price in this case.

Plum. Incense. Wood. This became a fixture in my collection from first sniff. It reminds me of relaxing on a hillside in Kyoto, on a nice warm evening. It’s such a nice compilation of notes. Definitely recommend snagging a bottle.

Irresistibly gorgeous plum and amber, sandalwood, and smoky incense. A pepper note that doesn’t punch but doesn’t hide either. Pepper usually turns me off a fragrance quickly, but this is truly lovely.

spicy incense that dries down to the wonderwood base. plum and opening notes are great and different. really enjoy all phases. full bottle worthy. only negative is moderate longevity 3-4 hours on me.

Super sexy perfume. On first spray it is very masculine but it soon dries to a soft feminine sandalwood, which on my skin is the dominant note. I do not pick up any vetiver

Loud, boozy, woody plum! Personal: 7/10 – I like this more than I expected to. It's dark, sweet, and unique, and there's something compelling about how bold it is. Though it has a rubberiness that I'm not loving. Mass appeal: 7/10 – This could divide people. It's wearable for niche heads, but not quite crowd pleasing for casual noses. Performance: 7.5/10 – Solid longevity with moderate projection. It sticks around long enough to fully develop its uniqueness. Value: 6/10 – Fair for CDG pricing, especially given how distinctive and experimental this feels, although it can be hard to find online, so pricing is inconsistent. Uniqueness: 9/10 – Loud, boozy plum with dark woods and spiciness? I've never smelled anything like it, for better or for worse. SCORE: 73/100 Full bottle buy? NO, fascinating and artistic, but not something I want to wear regularly. Blind buy? NO, this is too strange and divisive to gamble on. Recommend? YES, but only to people who actively enjoy dark, woody plum fragrances. Date night? NO, unless your date appreciates olfactory oddities. Or plum. Office safe? NO, far too strange, dark, and confrontational for work. Pros: Extremely unique, dark and atmospheric, bold concept, unmistakably CDG Cons: Challenging, rubbery opening may repel, not versatile, hard to find Floriental is a very unique, but ultimately simple, CDG execution that bears the trademark 'odd' CDG stamp. It opens with a rather rubbery incense/woods note, and a loud, dark, brooding plum note that's rather dark even when compared to other plum executions. It evolves to slowly lose that rubbery note, and the depth of the smoky woods expand at the right hand of the commanding plum note, to envelop your nose with a warm but almost unsettling veil. Despite maintaining darkness, it opens up in the drydown quite a bit. You get the full body of the plum, as opposed to just the dark overtones, and the smoke, while present, will almost lift to cast more of a shadow, than a smog. It's a genuinely interesting fragrance. I don't think I would ever make moves to own it, but it's pretty cool in its own right. CDG never fails to amaze with its avant garde, but still wearable, fragrances. I think it's well worth smelling, especially for anyone who enjoys plum notes, or pursues dark, almost gothic seeming, fragrances. I agree with some of the other members saying there is a disconnect between the name (a gorgeous name albeit) and the actual fragrance experience. You would expect a harmony of Oriental and Floral notes but it's not quite as you expect it to be. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful composition. I've wanted to own this for months because I thought it was going to be a possible signature, so I finally gave in and bought myself a 100mL bottle. Now that my tastes have slightly changed, I should have opted for the 50mL. But since I have it, I'm going to wear it as often as I can. In the opening, you can detect the spiciness of the pink peppercorn enveloped by creamy sandalwood, with a shot of boozy liqueur. After about an hour or so the shy fruity plum comes out of its shell with the incense blooming through. It’s a wonderfully done incense that’s not too punchy. If you step back from the painting, you can see the vetiver frame. And of course, my favourite scents typically feature a nice warm amber labdanum. I only wished the longevity lasted longer than 3 hours because afterward, I’d have to really sniff my wrists to detect anything. Sillage is quite moderate. For that, I spritz generously which chokes me at first, but it settles nicely about an hour after. It’s a good scent for a fall/winter wardrobe. A solemn and sophisticated individual who isn’t priggish. Sensual and exotic, clouded with darkness and edge. I could be quite polarising - definitely for people who have a more particular refined taste. If you’re a Scorpio, you might like to try this!

For me there is a bit of a disconnect between the name of this fragrance and the scent of this fragrance. On my skin, this is primarily warm, spicy, and woody. A review lower down mentions Christmas, and I definitely get that. Floriental reminds me of a candle you’d burn around the winter holiday season. I pick up cozy, winter spices – nutmeg and cinnamon (neither of which are listed as notes, but perhaps this comes from the sandalwood, pepper, and incense). I also catch a hint of sweetness, but it’s relegated to the background. Presumably this is from the plum note, though my nose does not distinguish it as plum. Overall, Floriental is a comfortable, homey scent. When I see the name Floriental, however, I imagine something a bit headier and more opulent. I imagine deep florals and lush spices. I imagine something more decadent than cozy. And when I see plum listed as the first note, I definitely expect a fragrance to be far sweeter than this. I also imagine a “beast mode” fragrance, and this is not that. Floriental has fair performance, but isn’t overpowering. It’s a decent middle-of-the-road fragrance in terms of longevity and sillage. I quite like Floriental, but ultimately it comes off a bit too timid for my tastes. It’s also not dissimilar from other warm spicy fragrances in my wardrobe. I’ll happily keep my sample and bust it out for the work holiday party in December, but won’t be adding a full bottle to my collection.

This is SUPER woody and definitely not for everyone. A fragrance like this has a very specific time and place to be worn by specific people; if I were walking down the beach in the middle of a hot Summer day and smelled this on a 19 year old guy in a tank top and shorts, I could immediately tell that he knows nothing about fragrance. This is for older men who enjoy playfully rich sandalwood fragrances. I could almost see this as a slightly sweet flanker to Sauvage. Speaking of sweeter, I do enjoy that aspect of this fragrance. The plum note actually saved this cologne for me. I smelled the thick sandalwood pouring out of the bag my sample came in and almost threw it straight in the trash. However, I decided to give it one more try and realized that the woody notes stay on surfaces and project better. The sweetness, however, provides a sort of duality that I couldn't describe better than with the appropriate name, "Floriental". Sweet, spicy, playful, but NOT an everyday scent.

This is soooo hippie! This is a sweet, leathery,sirupy, resinous sandalwood that reminds me of pencil shavings, wooden jewelry boxes and Moroccan tea salons. Nice but nothing especial.I just got a sample of this on the mail today and I'm wearing this now. It's not sexy nor clean, it kind of smells like a room inciense cone. It is a bit on the heavy side thus not office friendly and unwearable in hot weather. Unisex, but I think it would fit better on a man. In spite of the name, I can't smell the flowers here. Note: Sprayed myself with this early this morning and now, at 22:05 I still can smell it very well. This is really long lasting. There ́s a cheap hippie oil by Tree of Life called Shalimar that does not smell of Guerlain ́s Shalimar, but in fact is a sweetish, sirupy, pencil shavings sandalwood that smells very similar to this. If you like Floriental but want a cheaper alternative, try Shalimar perfume oil by Tree of Life, only 3€.

The name says it all. Opening with a plummy, fruity incense. This is a great quality scent, featuring (very little) florals, dry cedar and sandalwood, incense, spiced fruits and some sweetish vetiver. Unisex indeed. The base and drydown somehow seems to be based on the Wonderwood recipe. Without being biased, this smells like the ultimate simple pleasant template for a unisex oriental to be used by any gender, that would never offend anyone. I'm not saying it's boring at all, it's just a total allround oriental people pleaser in my opinion. Moderate projection, but long lasting. Comes off resinous and bittersweet with an excellent drydown. I imagine it would be excellent for colder fall temperatures.

Incense fragrances tend to overwhelm me, but I gave this one a try because the other notes intrigued me. I'm very glad I did. It is definitely incense-forward, but it isn't too strong. It's not at all gourmand, just a hint of sweet/tart plum hovering in the background. A dreary Christmas morning. A lot of others seem to have issues with performance, but it lasts around six hours on me and projects enough that I get regular compliments when I wear it. I don't know if this will end up being something I wear regularly, but I might break it out for the occasional party.
