Odeur 71

newer niche perfume enthusiast here and this is my first proper public review of a fragrance that i have posted because this scent is so, so deeply intriguing to me that i need to say something about it. i will say that i am typically a photorealistic earthy/woodsy and/or dirty aquatic kind of person. i eagerly use up any realistic, nature-evoking perfumes that come my way. Odeur 71 is basically on the complete opposite side of the perfume spectrum. i discovered this while on a search for scents to make me smell inhuman in a "biblically accurate angel" sort of way. Odeur 53 was a recommendation, which led me to 71. while looking through a perfume decanter website i asked a friend to make a decision for me between a sample of 53 and 71 and they chose 71. i don't regret the choice, though i wouldn't say this fit my original goal (it was a welcome detour). this is my first avant garde scent and i was not let down (i do fear that this will lead me down a rabbithole of similar CdG and adjacent perfumes, however). i am deeply infatuated with anything 2000s and i will say that Odeur 71 feels so Of Its Time to me but in a retrospective, romanticized/nostalgic way. it's like sitting by the fountain of a dying mall and playing with the leaves of the plastic plants. it also reminds me of my father's old office building... if someone had spruced it up with more plants so that they would cover up the faint scent of printer ink on warm paper, droning machinery, and kind of musty carpet. a liminal space full of life. i really wish i got more of the synthetic/inorganic notes but i'm fascinated enough without them. but man, i wanted more of that hot lightbulb note! i'd love to get Warm Bulb by Clue Perfumery to compare notes, and also because it feels like up my alley. i noted that though i applied it to my wrist, i got some of it faintly on my finger and from there it almost smelled like a mainstream men's cologne but in the best way possible (as i dislike most mainstream masculine colognes). it's like if a man were Not Quite A Man. like if you had seen a man in the distance and upon drawing closer to it, realized it was some sort of entity pretending to be human. in more definite terms... overall, the perfume comes off as just a bit bitter to me, but mostly green. the green is barely medicinal/herbal, almost tea-adjacent but not quite. i thought that i might be turned off by the lettuce juice and bay leaf notes but it adds just a slight bit of humidity that i really enjoy and evokes some sort of "sterile" greenhouse, which feels like an oxymoron. i have smelled Odeur 53 on paper and i remember feeling like it was similarly bitter and synthetic (in a pleasant way), and more ozonic and sort of like drinking tasteless sparkling water (i may revisit this thought when i get my hands on a sample of 53). 71 is like if you crushed and mashed a bunch of leaves into that sparkling water and got the juice from the leaves all over and heated it up, which sounds deeply unappealing, but i enjoy it. wearable? definitely, though it's not conventional at all. it's an intimate scent on me, and i typically prefer fragrances with more projection, but any stronger and i could see myself getting a headache. longevity is okay (and better than i expected), but i wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't make it past the 6-7 hour mark on a wonky spray unlike some other perfumes i own. a 7/10 perfume, one of the more Me scents i have in terms of aesthetics, and i could see myself wanting a larger size of this in the future.

Since as long as I could remember, I have had a curiosity for the banal, the overlooked. I clearly remember the peculiar little things I did as a child: pushing my Matchbox cars alongside the baseboards and imagining they were the walls of freeway underpasses, enjoying the rhythm against my hand running along wainscoting, using the shelf under an end table to hide small collectibles and charms, and playing a spring door stop protruding from the wall as if it were an instrument. Boing! This extended to smell as well, of course. I noticed that distinct aroma of disturbed dust as the carpet was vacuumed. I'd poke my nose in the battery compartments of electronic toys and note the oddly acrid smell. There were distinctions made between the smells of Crayola, Avalon, and Prang crayons (I had become quite the crayon connoisseur. I was quite fond of the odors emanated from cassette and VHS tapes as well. There were clear signs of a lifelong fascination in those earliest years of my life. Odeur 71 may be regarded by some as an oddly natural-meets-synthetic incense by way of drop ceilings instead of cathedral arches, or a rather indistinct farrago that never really materializes into recognizable perfume. Indeed, the notes listed are rather dippy, but yes, in fact I do sense hot dust, and yes, there is that odd battery compartment smell, and Xerox fumes, among the smell of ball-point pens and even ditto ink (those over 40 may remember that). Yet there is also the fascinating smell of the natural that is rendered artificial: think plastic hyacinths coated with the scent of real hyacinths, or a true geranium-scented fake geranium plant. What immediately popped to mind from childhood was this flowers-in-a-pot decor made of lucite, with distinct wire stems that were pliable, so that the flowers could be arranged differently. The flower pot part was a translucent dark orange. I will now reactivate my childhood imagination and pretend that Odeur 71 is the specific smell of that flower pot part.

I got the chance to blind buy this at a very good price and jumped for it as it had been on my mind for some time. Though this fragrance is very subdued and gentle with something of a formal Japanese aesthetic, it is also revelatory in its associations (if not it's rather limited development). For me, right from the outset - and this was a real surprise for me - I get immediate associations with Yatagan (of all things!), which a very light metallic and 'burned out electronics' vibe begins to permeate through. I should add that were it not for my knowledge of the notes, I may not have had these associations at all. With Odeur 71 the success of the marketing may well have added to a subliminal appreciation of the fragrance. I would concur with other reviewers that this is not as Dadaist or 'anti-perfume' as the notes suggest. In fact this is an eminently wearable fragrance - though clearly with only barely reasonable longevity and projection. The concept can't help but remind me of Japanese cosplay teenagers in the Akhihabara district of Tokyo. There is a fascinating and enthralling juxtapositon of ideas here, but there is also a lot of light-hearted fun...and everyone gets home safely at the end of the night. Alongside this, what I get from Odeur 71 is green bamboo and incense...and some more green. (The bay leaf may be understimated in the note votes.) Sometimes a whiff of smokiness comes through, but this is very light. All said, I think the associations with Yatagan come from the green/incense combination both have, though they go in different directions. I am looking forward to wearing this more in the Spring and even Summer because I believe it will project more. It deserves this. A very good fragance - not just a concept - and well recommended for men who want something different in the warmer months.

Here’s the deal with this stuff. If you look at the note pyramid above, you'll see natural smelling components except the ink (but, even then, I feel ink note is not petrochemical, but rather derived base of some plant extract). This exactly what the perfume smells like—very natural. However, there is another aroma I get. There is airy fresh quality to this perfume which can at times be like sweet smelling plastic or light floral... Is that you hyacinth? Ligh bulbs? Uhhhhh? Not getting that yet, but my nose will be on ‘lookout’ for that one. I would say this fragrance is biased towards the masculine end of the spectrum. The first day I wore this in my biology lecture class someone said I smelled really good. So fellas, this may not your first choice as a panty dropper but women do like it. If you spray lighty, longevity and projection will all be low. Circumvent this by over spraying. Then projection is good to excellent and longevity is good (around 6 plus hours). NOTES: • This perfume does not really take well to clothing. Spray it on your skin. • The sprayer has a very short squatty travel resulting in so-so sprays that can sometimes dribble. • I paid 140 USD from Lucky Scent, but you can get this from Barney's for 135 USD. In any case, the price is fair considering you’re receiving a 200ml bottle with fabulous complexity and originality. • Perfect for all seasons and occasions. If you need something dramatic, spray more. A soft intimate moment? Spray less. • Personally, I feel fresh but manly; yet comforted, while modern. Avant-garde? Sure. But not because its so sci-fi, rather the combination of mainly natural accords is rare. This one is not as bananas as its hyped to be with wacky Dadaist accords, but if you want a clean floral woody fragrance this is a must try. —Enjoy

Countains: electricity, metal, office, mineral, dust on a hot light bulb, photocopier toner, hot metal, toaster, pen ink, pencil shavings,, the salty taste of a battery, freshly mowed grass, incense, wood, moss, willow, elm, birch, bamboo, hyacinth, lettuce juice and many more... It's like an experience of walking through an industrial frosty landscape or being in a sterile white and green room. Basically, it is a reformulated version of the previous "Odeur 53", bringing the aseptic clean and cold notes of it, and, simply blending them with more "down to earth notes", more physical and less ethereal, but never natural. Odeur 71 is the sweetness we all smell when we smell things we feel silly about smelling and liking in our everyday existence: the funny sweet smell of cellotape or a hot computer or tv. The opening is very similar to "53 " but this time, the same present fake lemony note in the previous, is much more prevalent, rounded off with the same grey yet clean aura. There are too, hints of ink and hot dust accords. The composition is much more variable in this version, getting more natural, with green light notes (lettuce juice and bamboo) , ghostly woody notes, and a nice soft touch of sterile hyacinth. It’s even has little vague hints of sperm too, ( I didn’t recalled it, my partner did eventually), I don't even dare to keep striping it anymore. A lot of things that aren't typically fragrant have a smell now and we know those smells are here. We just want to sit down and enjoy them.

I don't really know what this perfume is, and I absolutely love it for that reason. I mean, is it even a perfume? I don't think it is. To me, it is more of a specific scent profile than a perfume. Certainly not a perfume in the traditional sense, but in the modern world of orange bastards in charge of countries, it has an odd little place for it to exist. Somewhere between a grey, dull insurance office and a well-used lightbulb in a sterile hospital cupboard, is where this scent profile dwells. It came along at just the right time, when the anti-perfume movement was really starting to chuck it's weight around, much like a certain orange bastard that runs a country. The pure idea and audacity of this scent is what made me buy it. I expected it to be so boring that it becomes very interesting, and that is exactly what happened. It is the perfume equivalent of a really shit punk rock band; one that is so shit and talentless, that it transcends all music and becomes an artform. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SCENE - GO AND WATCH YOUR FRIEND'S SHIT BAND. I don't know how the perfumer has made such a well considered, beautifully boring thing. I take off my dusty old hat to them. It clings to my skin like cellophane, lasting well beyond what a scent profile like this should. It is definitely intimate rather than loud, but that only adds to it's mystique and it's downtrodden receptionist-esque combination of scents. Great work, Comme Des Garcons. 8/10. I just can't go higher as it's not really a perfume.

When this came out back in 2000 it was totally revolutionary and I'm not talking about the provocative marketing concept behind the fragrance notes, but the scent itself. It was incredibly recognizable, unique and absolutely stunning. I always try to avoid hypes but couldn't resist Odeur 71. In the end, we can spend a lot of words and time talking about really well crafted fragrances, filled with top quality ingredients, and super professionaly balanced aromas but we should never forget that first of all, a perfume has to give you sensations and feelings and whether you'll like CDG's Odeur 71 or not, it won't leave you indifferent. My suggestion would be, just for one time, to try to avoid any description, comment, notes pyramid and and just smell. A very distinctive mix of clean incense with a minty vibe and a strong xerox-toner note. Abstract and airy. An all time favourite. Also, this is one of those scent that really needs to be collocated in its historical period to be properly appreciated. It surely belongs to the chemicals fragrances family, modern in a "contrapposition mode" to the classic, provocative and avanguardist, unconventional, but you can appreciate Odeur 71 and at the same time go mad for a Santa Maria Novella's original scent from the early 700. It was one of the first "barrier-braking" scent to (almost) make the cross-over from niche perfumery to the mass market as it became an huge cult for a whole generation. Rating: 8.5-9/10

Futuristic, metallic, exciting, but sadly ephemeral. This smells like a church for robots on my skin. Starts with a sharp metallic tinge that quickly calms into something very "electronic". Shortly after this soldering phase, things smooth out and it becomes surprisingly naturalistic. What follows is green in a very unique way. It sits at the meeting place between pine and ink, with an occasional waft of some smoke, possibly the incense? It conjures up images of technology meeting meditative nature. Maybe this is the scent of a robot built solely to meditate? Maybe this is the scent of getting trapped in the internet? You be the judge. But judge quick cause this lasts 3-5 hours at most and it is definitely no projection beast. Overall i really like this strange, fleeting work of art. The only con being performance, but one gets the feeling that a scent like this really shouldnt be a powerhouse. Its quiet like the hum of a computer.

Oduer 71 is an ethereal avant-garde fragrance that is (almost) ineffable. When words cannot directly describe a sensation, we can either apophatically or analogously paint a picture aptly representing our experience. I believe the latter will make this review more concise. My friend explicated this eau de toilette as the photorealistic scent of a person experiencing MoMA–I am compelled to agree. Its freshness is linear and familiar, yet you cannot put your finger on what you are sensing. The nascent museum visitor can scoffingly and rhetorically inquire, "isn't that just badly drawn squares and rectangles? I can do that." At the same time, the seasoned member would be able to identify and appreciate Rothko's "Untitled (Black Blue Painting)." In short, Oduer 71 is less a flourished etude of Chopin and more a dionysiac melody of Debussy. It is deceptively simple and elegant––something that will be with you for a long time.

pure joy. this one did not disappoint. it smells exactly like the burning hot lamp they put over your face at the dentists. actually, a lot of the facets of this perfume can be found at the dentist- the vase of flowers in the waiting room, the whirring fan, the strange tasting mouthwash, latex gloves, the hot lamp... i just love it. as it dries, it gets dustier but still remains smooth. odeur 53 is so peppery i nearly coughed! but this one is a little kinder on you, although it retains the same inhuman (posthuman?) vibe. a good work perfume if your career title is noise musician. i'm addicted. i smelled this one at a shop and subsequently bought a bottle. no regrets!

Electrifies me when I need. Makes me feel clean, hyperactive, synthetic and creative at the same time. Someone trying to forget about it's nature or situation, trying to focus on something. It feels shiny, sharp and clean like broken lamps almost cutting the tip of the fingers. I couldn't be able to sleep while using it. It really feels like electricity. River>machines>metal>power>earth>your body>air. All at once. A little soothing medical soap bar with a pink subtle flower as a gift comes with it. A scent for creatives (and those who need a pump and hyperactivity) Almost like a drug.

The comment below me made me laugh lol. Anyway, this fragrance is lovely but I'd imagine it's quite divisive. I'll say it right away, there is a mustiness/dirtiness present in this one (in the background) that kind of reminds me of cigarette smoke, but as a whole the fragrance is beautiful. It kind of has a similar "old t-shirt" smell like in CdG 2, but with that added touch smokiness or dirtiness as well as a slight spiciness and maybe a tad bit of Iris? I'm bad at writing about scents lol but I can't get enough of this one.

Got a tester of this stuff from luckyscent's "avant garde" section because it looked interesting and was only $5. Odeur 71 is like static electricity in a bottle. It's sharp and metallic but in a really tangy, fresh way. Very unique. Wish it lasted longer and smelled stronger! Maybe it was just the tester I got, but it barely even lasts half an hour. Bummer since a full size is so expensive!

As usual, fragrantica members do an excellent job pinning down notes. And Odeur 71 is indeed a curious/sexy to some/clean to others gem radiating simultaniously of old electronics and greencrispy plants. But my sister and mother tried it on today and both agreed on one prominent note: dandelions! My sister felt the sun-warm yellow flowers and my mother the green stems. And yes. Dandelions.

This fragrance must have come to us from the future Saying this in 2023, when I first got familiar with Ganymede/Bois Imperial - this year or a bit earlier, ... it is actually something really similar (direction, not the way it smells), I am that much impressed! What's the way to describe this? Probably "bamboo ink with some violet/metallic undertones" :)

It reminds me of my old pediatrician's office. Not just clean, but sanitized. The inky and metallic notes stand out, and when you walk in a wooded area the smells of the forest blend in with the artificial notes...it's a wonderful smell. It's almost otherworldly, and will definitely make you stand out.

I cant figure out why people hate this fragrance. Its lovely. It smells lightly floral and soapy with a warm embrace from a hot xerox machine. I wish it was a pinch stronger and lasted longer. It dries down powdery to a fantastic skin scent that feels like a little secret.

After sitting on the skin it becomes light and airy, very pleasant. It really does smell like the inside of a fresh magazine, one that has floral perfume sample tabs inside of it. And incense comes through for me. It is pretty unisex but leans a little masculine

It reminds of of the smell of ballpoint pen ink on skin. (As a young artist I would often draw on myself) Artificial, light floral, light musk. Like the pages of a new magazine. Reminds me of Ghost in The Shell but less screechy and soapy.

I got strongly incense initially, with some darker, smokier depths. Smells like a cold church to me, high ceilings, marble and glass. On the dry down i started getting more of the inky notes, but it's incense all the way down for me.

The mysterious fragrance that I have smelled somewhere sometime that there is not at all it despite a good fragrance, but feels nostalgic for.

I wear this futuristic scent because when aliens destroy the earth they will let me live because I smell like them.

my husband says it smells like a book store. i think it smells like freshly picked magazines. its wonderful

Smells like a smoker. Not like in a nice smoky way, but as in like straight just-smoked-a-cigarette smell

Newborn kewpie baby doll. Clean, skin-like, and a bit synthetic. One of my all-time favs.

This is so liminal space-core. Backrooms, dusty and cold but so wearable.

Somewhat dusty, yet contemporary clean at the same time. 9/10 Amazing

After reading all the reviews on here, I made a blind purchase out of overwhelming curiosity and my love for CdG. Upon first spraying, I was met with a strong chemical soap scent. Laundry detergent mixed with ink. It was very unnerving, but I thought I'd ride it out and see where it takes me. For scientific purposes.... I also sprayed my bf before he headed off to work. Then watched him wale and and moan about the initial scent. He said it smells "really gross" and that "it smells like cleaning fluid". I waited a couple more minutes and sniffed.... Lots of bamboo and hyacinth, with a touch of burnt out electronics. Honestly, the electronics part was my favorite. I was hoping this frag would be the smell of robots and incense, as other reviewers seemed to describe... but for me there was no incense or fir resin. Nor did I get any wood notes. Just a clean, ice cold, quite soapy scent. After barely an hour, the scent was almost completely gone from my wrists. I could barely smell it at all when I lifted my wrist to me nose. When I did, all I could smell was slightly bamboo scented dryer sheets. It's about as much scent that lingers after using a drugstore bar soap. I imagine this would be the scent, if Dove made a bamboo scented bar soap. Not nearly as out of this world as I would have hoped. The smell is fairly feminine. I'm a girl, but I prefer heavier oriental scents for myself. However, I could see this smelling good on my brother's tiny korean girlfriend. The bf's take of it on him: "I kinda like it. Still a little on the fence. Definitely a slight ammonia smell. The words fresh and artificial come to mind. Colors yellow and grey. I definitely detect some fir resin"

This is one of those fragrances where words alone cannot adequately describe this fragrance entirely! I will try my best. Odeur 71 is... A high-end car. Luxury. Streetwear aesthetic in a bottle. The kind of scent you’re sure you’ve smelled on someone before, yet still somehow feels different enough to stand out. It doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly why it works so well. Odeur 71 is, to me, a timeless urban unisex fragrance, a beautiful synthetic, extremely wearable perfume, tilting slightly masculine, but not in a way that excludes anyone else (I love wearing this as a woman). It’s the kind of scent that feels natural on anyone bold enough to wear it. It's bold yet subtle with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. Describing the mood is easier than pinpointing its notes. Early 2000s, skateboarding, late night drives, FL Studio, chasing thrills and spending cash. Maybe a little cyberpunk. The mental image is of sitting in a freshly detailed Lamborghini with a soft undercurrent of cigarette smoke as if you're a smoker who quit long ago but could never truly get the scent off of the leather seats. When it wears off, I find myself wanting to reapply without even thinking about it. Similar to Odeur 53, but also completely unique from it. It's easy to tell that Martine Pallix is the one who created both. Mixes well with 53. 10/10! EDIT: Had to take it out of the love category only because compared to Odeur 53 I don't love this as much. Still pairs incredibly well with it though. Ironically, despite having a summer vibe to it, this warps in scent unfavorably in the extreme heat and should be worn in cooler temps.

A paradoxical mixture of warm and cold, dusty and clean. This one has much more presence than Odeur 53 which I can barely smell. Magazine pages, florals, school supplies, freshly printed ink, etching symbols onto your desk then using hand sanitizer, the metal pencil sharpener at the front of the classroom. A cold building with hard surfaces and lots of stainless steel. I definitely get the aromatic/woodiness, there’s some bamboo, pepper and moss. Makes me imagine a futuristic eco city ~where everything is chrome~ but there’s lots of greenery as well. It’s definitely avant garde but not offensive, I don’t think the average person would have a “WTF” reaction to this! I love the liminal, otherworldly vibe, it’s not incredibly transporting or something that will make you go WOW, but like a memory or something you can’t quite place. Like a more reserved combination of Ghost in the Shell, Ganymede and Warm Bulb. Dries down close to the skin and smells like you just used Softsoap from the fish bottle which is very fitting

I never really "get" any of the Comme poetic descriptions on my skin ̄\_(ツ)_/ ̄ No red-hot bulb, no freshly toasted bread, no electric batteries. I'm guessing there's a lot of aromachemicals in here to have these effects, but they're just not there for me. Well, what is there? I smell hyacinths first and foremost. There is a metallic zing to the perfume that I like. I can smell a LITTLE burnt rubber kind of smell, but nothing is especially "inky" on me. This is somewhat similar to Odeur 53 in how much I wanted to love it, and how ambivalent I ultimately fell towards it. I will say this is a lot more complex than 53 for me, or maybe it smells a little more masc, while 53 was more femme for me, so I'm inclined to like 71 better. So yes, ultimately, I'm a fan of this one, even if it does feel pretty ephemeral and fleeting on my skin. I don't think I'm a fraghead, but I wish this one projected a little more on my skin and I could smell stronger hints of the notes marketed.

cold, fresh, earthy clean greens with a metallic tone that works really well, and there's something very slightly spitty/saliva-like deep down that comes out more on the dry down, but it's pretty enjoyable, like a french kiss but slightly dusty at the same time. pretty futuristic and avant-garde, and if I could picture a visual style, this would definitely be Gen X Soft Club, it fits that aesthetic so perfectly some elements of this also slightly reminds me of L'Eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake as I mentioned in my Ultrae review, I do a lot of analog VJing and artistic work, and I've been looking for fragrances that could bring cohesion between what I do visually and my scent bubble, I was expecting something more unique and intriguing, like with Odeur 10 and Odeur 53, but it still might be a good candidate if I want to tone it down for an office in the creative field or a more formal context

This one has the pretty same pros and cons than Odeur 53. It smells incredibly good, a pure love at first sniff... Kind a perfect balance between natural trees/plants scent (fir, bamboo...) and synthetic ones (ink and metal). Making a weird but lovely meeting between nature and technology, an ode of the Earth from past to future. Like a cyborg-nymph on its tree ! And then, the cons... Ah... bad cons, pity :/... Its sillage and longevity are lame, very very lame. 3 hours later, I can barely smell it and it is very close-skin (but more stronger than 53, fortunately !). Well, oddly, it enhances its magical and mysterious side but... If you have to spray it over and over through the day, what's the point ? :( So. A very odd, mysterious, magnificent BUT ephemerical one. If you're against the fact to always spray it again to renew this experience, don't pay attention to it.

Twice now this perfume has smelled absolutely wonderful to me day 1 and then if I try to wear it a second day or too soon afterwards it has the chemical cleanness of Softsoap--it literally gives me visions of the fish-themed Softsoap bottles. Whatever, I respect the discipline it requires to space out wearings. When it's smelling best it's like the cool dustiness of shaded concrete or the underside of a rock on a hot day--pure metallic relief. I get some of the lightbulb muzziness that other people describe as well. This doesn't so much evoke one particular memory for me as it gives me flashes of scenes- looking for lizards under rocks in Arizona a kid, crossing the line into the shade of an open warehouse, stepping into a bar with lots of exposed brick. I look forward to picking the days that I reach for this carefully.

Comme Des Garcons Odeur 71 (2000) - metal jungle - This perfume is probably the only one that I own that uses some Natural accords trying to recreate a perfume entirely inorganic, in-concept. Technically, there are “natural” elements that I’m able to get: Starts with Bay leaf mixed with a sharp-green Hyacinth. I get spice from the Pepper and smoke from Incense on a base of resins, oakmoss and cedar. But, that’s not the fun part, but what you perceive. Reminds me of ink cartridges, paper & books, metal shelvings, freon from the air-conditioner and an office worker just finished from his smoke break, trying to chew a mentholated gum. Now this is perfumery.

Detaching from the abstract, artistic fragrance descriptions, Odeur 71 smells to me not unfamiliar, and certainly not alien or robotic. It smells like clean, fresh, crisp, dry air. It's the smell of still air on top of a cold mountain. I'm surprised ozone isn't listed in the notes. I notice there is some disagreement on whether this scent is masculine, feminine, or unisex. To me, it smells masculine, but only because I would find it far sexier on a man than on myself. Of course, any scent can be called unisex if one really wanted to wear it. While I don't think 71 suits me, I'm giving it a 'love' because I would love to smell it on other people.

Literally reminds me of what I imagine liminal spaces smelling like. It made me envision being in a vacant room that was left as a time capsule from the 80’s or 90’s of someone who only used incandescent light bulbs. When you enter said room there’s a dusty wooden chair getting warmed up by the sunlight coming from the window with the faint scent of incense that had been burned all those years ago. You get these feelings of melancholy, nostalgia, and comfort all at once. It’s not a scent I’d consider an everyday sort of smell but if you want an intriguing conversation piece this fragrance will definitely sparks some conversations

Based on the reviews on here I had marked this fragrance to try, and surprisingly had the opportunity while visiting an exhibition of contemporary Japanese fashion at the local gallery of modern art. It was hard to describe at first; my firs timpression was smokey rubber. Within a few minutes I could smell the incense and strong smokey smell. This dried to a smokey soap smell. Lots of smoke really. It was really great to try this while seeing the commes des carcons fashion too; it put it into the context of futuristic, avant garde fashion. I could wear this, maybe paired with all black, origami-folded cotton and trench boots.

weirdly evocative of taping movies off TV in my grandma's bedroom when I was a kid. fresh laundry waiting to be folded, uncapped ballpoint pen on top of the puzzles section of the newspaper, windows open. I can see the trees outside sway in the breeze and the smell of the garden on a perfect spring day is so tempting, but I can't take my focus off the TV for too long because I have to keep pausing and unpausing the VCR so I don't tape the commercials. the most wearable plastic-heavy fragrance I've ever tried, even if it might be too memory-loaded for regular use.

Ok this perfume lasts like shit for how much it was but it smells soooo good its like ok whatever. it smells very lightbulb at first and then it dries in to the incense it is so crazy like whattttttt i was not expecting that! in an awesome way. they were really clowning in the lab but they struck gold fr. The scent of those magazines in supercuts with the perfume samples already ripped out. maybe they should have tried a smaller bottle and just given it more longevity like it is depressing. comme des garcon put me on your team i know better than you.

This one shows up in compilations of "liminal" scents a lot and I now know why. You know when you dream of places you know and they overlap and become a strange hybrid setting where everything is both familiar and foreign? Odeur 71 is that space. It's the department store in the mall bleeding into the Best Buy staffed by freshy showered but blurry faced employees, perfume and waxed tiles next to hot printers and processors. There's a generic soapy aspect to it that permeates everything- Perfectly unisex in every way. Just like the mall.

Graduated from this one. Despite giving it a trial through Luckyscent and believing I fell in love with this one, the more I wore it the more it just smelt like men’s pomade on my skin, and while it’s a great smell, it’s just not me. it definitely brightened up the smell of Odeur 53, but I think that it wasn’t worth owning just to bolden 53 when I already like that one on its own. I gave this one as a gift during the holidays.

Distinctive, fresh and futuristic. On me personally it’s very ink and bamboo forward. It smells how you’d imagine eco-brutalist interiors to smell like - clean, cold, metallic and stone like - simple, but interesting to experience. The scent sits decently close to the skin and despite it’s one of a kind profile it’s perfect for the office, or spaces where you want to smell clean, but not basic

Oh, my this is weird. It smells like ink, like someone mentioned before, but good kind of ink, actually I feel burnt rubber as well. Weirdly it's not unpleasant. It's rather addictive. I can feel incense and fir very good and then other notes I can't actually understand. Is it bamboo? Bay? There is a slight touch of flowers. Actually I kinda dig this. It's strange, but good.

Petrichor scented soap bar. Then you're washing your hands with it using cold/fresh water after just doing some gardening. One of the best scents from the house imho, it's like Prada managed to do for a long time they made clean cool instead of dull and boring. It's clean and fresh but it's earthy and dry.

i love the soapy, cold, metallic and light scent this gives off but it leaves a cigarettey, almost sour scent on the skin which i'm not a fan of. If the post apocalyptic/eco-brutalist aesthetic was a perfume it would be this one. it's mossy and earthy.

If Odeur 53 is office siren with an emphasis on "siren" this definitely is office siren with an emphasis on "office". Metallic, inky, bamboo, incense... and somehow wearable in a cyborg way. Not too loud but different enough.

Update: This smells much better on my boyfriend. Very unique and intriguing on him, but boring and soapy on me. I really like this on him and it's definitely a scent that draws attention.

this smells like a sharper version of Big Red gum to me... i like it, just not sure if i can cop a whole bottle of it..
