Wow, can’t believe I’m the first review! I’m guessing this is a little rare? The bottle itself is somewhat weird and unexpected, it appears to be a glass bottle with a plastic casing that looks like a red bell pepper. I had been expecting all glass like my cdg 2 bottle, but I guess this at least feels pretty sturdy for a drop. It’s glossy and fun to hold. First spray smells exactly like DS & Durga’s Bowmakers at the opening. It’s a distinct, heavy, natural pine that projects MASSIVELY. Watch out, this is the kind of thing that likely only needs one or two sprays to be smelled by others. It sweetens up shortly after, I can smell cinnamon/spices and honey sweetness really distinctly under the pine. Sandalwood definitely grounds the pine and keeps it refreshing, I can also detect a bit of rose and lilac—in fact, everything in the note pyramid is recognizable. This is a complex and unusual perfume and I think I love it. There’s a hint of that cdg spiciness—warm and unisex. This could definitely work for a man or a woman. The sweetness reminds me A LOT of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille from a distance. This is good news for me because I love that frag. This might just be my skin, so don’t expect a dupe here, especially since the pine is also so prominent. Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache is more abrupt, more harsh and less natural but also shares a fleeting similarity. Estée Lauder Sensuous Noir is more subdued, more feminine. Longevity is outstanding. Be careful about blind buying—I love this, but to someone who doesn’t, it might be crazy making. Eight hours after application and I’m still catching whiffs of this guy. 9.5/10
