Radish Vetiver

I like this unique take on vetiver. Like almost all CdG fragrances, this stuff is just a little bit odd, but here the oddity is the result of a component listed right on the cute little (30 ml) bottle--radish. This radish is watery, ozonic and refreshing at the same time it introduces a clean, processed earthy note to the composition. This earth is reminiscent of the sort of thing you'd buy in a bag at a garden center, not what you'd find on a forest floor, and that seems appropriate given the fact that, at least in my admittedly limited experience, radishes are the stuff of gardens and are rarely encountered in the wild. If you are familiar with CdG's Vettiveru, you'll recognize the vetiver here. I suspect that it is mostly artificial, since it also reminds me of Molecule 03 from Escentric. In any event, this vetiver has a vinyl note that is most likely conjuring the natural iodine found in the plant and this note clashes with the radish, just like the label says it will. But this clash is more semi-harmonious dissonance than harsh crash, particularly when the interesting way in which the radish dovetails with the vetiver's green, grassy notes is considered. It works wonderfully and I love this stuff. As the scent dries down, the radish fades away, leaving vetiver and woods. Longevity is moderate (about 5 hours on my skin in hot, humid conditions). So is projection. This fragrance is unisex, safe for work, and well suited for warm days in spring and summer. If you like vetiver, you really should try to smell the innovative approach to the scent presented in Clash: Radish Vetiver. Recommended.

First impressions - the sharpness of this green fragrance cuts like a razor; super intense green notes paired with dirt/soil. The dirt/soil was almost a turn off but for whatever reason it works well with the sharpness and borderline bitterness of the fresh green aroma. As someone that adores the weird and wild arrays of fragrances, this was love at first sniff. After a few hours- stayed fairly green, radiant and radishy for hours. Eventually, it simmers down and vetiver and woody notes arrived and created a clean, soapy skin scent. The soil/dirt compound of this fragrance died away which I appreciated since it had an almost dirty feeling to it when I smelled it (at the same time, I kinda got into it because it was so unusual). Sillage and longevity - impressive longevity; at least four hours before it quieted down from the sharp and green initial blast that I encountered when I first applied it. Sillage was moderate; this is one that radiates but won’t fill a room and offend anyone. Would I buy a bottle - Yes! As a lover of green and especially “weird” fragrances, I may have to add this to my collection. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the radish note but I think it adds a dimension of sharpness, dirt and bitter vegetal edge to this. 3 words to describe this scent - sharp, garden, soil

Does what Amazingreen was too afraid to do - the bitter, crushed vegetation-esque note that disappears woefully early into Amazingreen is finally allowed to take the centre stage it deserves. The result is earthy, refreshing, and so "natural"-smelling that it ends up feeling somehow alien (it might be better described as a "smell" rather than as a perfume). Yes, that sounds like two halves of an oxymoron, but contradiction seems to be the name of the game with the Clash series. As far as actually wearing it goes, so far I find Radish Vetiver stays noticeable all the way through without having to huff at your wrist to get it - more than can be said for certain CdG releases. I would probably stop short of saying that a little goes a long way with this one, but despite the smaller bottle volume it feels like it should last for a while, so the price feels fair. Eventually it dries down to a more traditionally wearable scent but refuses to completely lose that cool, vegetal edge. TL;DR - If Amazingreen left you wanting more, this is the one for you.

"Radish Vetiver" is a unique take on vetiver that is sharp, dirty, and root-like. Imagine a muddy, brown color mixing with a dark, juniper, green color...Now, imagine both of those colors transforming into a beautiful, emerald green color. That's what "Radish Vetiver" does. It takes you on an artistic journey from an Earthy, dark, muddy, root-like smell turning into a fresh, clean, green, and slightly woody scent. It's amazing. I love it! I love it so much that I bought a bottle of it after sampling it. It's an absolute treat to ppl who want something different from the usual smells. I would recommend it because I like it, BUT I would suggest sampling it first. Because YOU need to like it. DO NOT base your buying option on the opinions of others. You miss out on great fragrance when you do that!!!

I loved this fucking frag. Was my go-to for special occasions or when I wanted to feel “different” during the week. Green, fresh, icy cold, with hints of a fresh roll of duct tape, rubber (?), and a childhood memory of walking down the bicycle aisle at Walmart. I can’t explain it better than that.... Felt very grown up at the time in my late 20s but still believable to wear casually. 4.5 years later I wanted to replace and found out it’s currently out of production. CdG, will I ever forgive you for discontinuing? The rest of the clash series is fine but this radish elixir was something special. Always got compliments with just 2 sprays too 💔

A Radioheadian comparison of Clash: Radish Vetiver (CRV) The Bends:Amazingreen, In Rainbows:CRV Amazingreen is classically entry-level. It is approachable and memorable, but not entirely unique amongst its CDG's fragrance peers. CRV on the other hand takes the Amazingreen's approachability and muddies it, turns it up a notch, and makes it strange. Nevertheless, it remains very pleasant––just like In Rainbows. SiCK HEAD's succinctly puts it, "If Amazingreen left you wanting more, this is the one for you." Except you can only buy CRV in 30 ml, while Amazingreen up to 100 ml. The solution is to have both in your collection––you won't regret it.

Upd, i ended up obsessing and finally got this. While on skin this is a normal ~2-3 hour greenish vetiver, on hair it lasts for Hours, i sprayed in the evening, went to bed and still caught the cold scent on my hair 20 hours later, it's monstrous. And i absolutely love that it is cold and stays cold on you, there's almost no change in it. Old review: It's lovely in a wet green way, but it's also very sharp and repellent. I feel it would make me smell cold and unapproachable, and sort of undead. I think I'll get it eventually but this is definitely a scent to consider and weight against your skin before blind buying.

i love radish vetiver. how to describe? RV smells like dirt, but there's nothing dirty about it. in fact, it smells so clean that it's practically synthetic, someone's ecological-utopian vision of life on earth. terrestrial but anti-nostalgic, bright and lively but anti-anthropic. consequently, it takes a while for the scent to transition into something more complementary to human skin. great, if you appreciate the disjunction, uncomfortable if you don't. radish is a contradictory scent by itself -- peppery, yet cold and aqueous (i'd even say damp), it counterpoints the dry warmth of vetiver very well.

It breaks my heart to hear that this one has been discontinued :(((((( I just love how this one captured a fresh, yet intriguingly complex scent. To me, Radish Vetiver whiffs off a salty sea breeze meeting more dirty notes from moist soil and newly harvested radishes. Does anyone have recommendations for perfumes that can replace this little gem? I already have Acqua di Sale and Paula’s Ibiza, but I’m looking for something summery but with a dash of a more surprising element like this one has with the dirt / radishes.

You are strolling through a mossy forest at twilight. You encounter a man with glowing eyes. Next thing you know you are rolling around in the dirt. A moment of passion, heat and cool, earth. You can feel the soil as it pushes under your finger nails. The slight smell of rubber/latex induces a kinky essence. I’m not sure how else to describe. Sexual but earthy.

Just received my bottle..wow...just wow...4 sprays...It starts very dirty but after 30 minutes or more it develops in a very fresh scent..I met my girlfiend after 3 hours and she asked me if i just did a shower..Its really very fresh and unigue..But wearable for such a unique creation...Its my first experience with Comme De Garcons and im already excited...

This is a high quality perfume. Vetiver and radish (peppery and green) alternate nicely, they come in waves one ofter the other, alternately, several times as the perfume develops. Vetiver is the strongest, radish is not as prominent, unfortunately. Because when the green peppery notes come forward the scent is heavenly.

This has become my favorite spring scent. It smells like fresh green tendrils unfurling out of wet earth, tight white unopened flower buds... all the rich sweet promise of the biomass explosion around the corner. Just add sunshine.

Easy choice for people who love the smell of dirt. Reminds me of a CB I Hate Perfume release. Wearable and refreshing dry vetiver with a vegetable green edge. I like it. 3.5 out of 5.

God it’s like super dry dusty dirt that somehow progresses into a fresh, almost sweet radish/melon scent - like the veges have been washed and prepped and ripe as hell. Obsessed.

If you’ve ever pulled weeds under a tree-covered, shady patch of flowerbed on a hot summer day, you’ll recognize this scent immediately.

I just adore wearing it on warm days, it's like a harsh sea wave of bitter and cold freshness. Mind-blowing, mind refreshing.

A bright, lightweight fragrance with a lot of utility. A great pick whether I'm projecting "avant-garde/artistic" or "straightforward/grounded"; monochrome clothes or chambray. I found out about this one late in the summer while auditioning a bunch of "fresh" options, and intend to buy a full bottle soon (even if the MN winter is rushing toward us and I probably can't use it 'til next year). Despite the aggro name, this is a thoughtful combination of the two listed elements in careful balance. The radish component is really interesting, smelling to me like a cross between melon and pepper. This sweet, watery *roundness* and nasal kick dances nimbly against the grassy half of the composition. I get wafts of this interplay all day, giving me an "Oh hey, what's *this*?" sensation every time. It's delightful.

Just received this fragrance direct from DSM Ginza. A really fresh and earthy fragrance; it smells like you’re digging through damp soil while weeding a garden. There is a wavering note of freshly cut radishes that adds a pungent sharpness that can only be described as crisp. I’ve never smelled anything like it before. This scent really encompasses Comme des Garçons’ experimental approach to scents and I can’t wait to smell the rest of this series.

Sampled this from curiosity and it really does smell like freshly cut radishes in the opening. This disappears pretty quickly and you're left with some green wood base notes. It was a fun experience and props to the perfumer, but I can't imagine wearing it.

Crunchy fresh picked raddish that dries down to a nice vetiver. Not sure who wants to smell like a freshly picked veggy but the dry down is nice. When do you wear this?

This is a miss for me as someone that likes a good vétiver and generally likes geosmin and petrichor notes. The two directions do clash and while the lean towards radish is unique and in a sense a green gourmand, the end result is not something I have reached for since purchasing. Who and when could wear this for a good fit? Workers at natural juice shops, attendees at farmer's markets, produce managers, organic vegetable farmers.

Radish Vetiver opens with quite a particular vetiver note, super green, rooty, moist, synthetic - it's upfront, and I am reminded of other unique vetiver appearances as in Route du Vetiver or Goutal's original 80's vetiver. This vetiver is accompanied by 50 % something else, also green, vegetal, rooty: so whatever stands for the radish component in the composition. Relatively soon this 50/50 constellation balances into a linear mixture that stays without any further dramatic development. In this phase, Radish Vetiver can be read from two perspectives: that of the vetiver + 50% something else vegetal, or as something strangely aquatic, which would well resonate with the recently re-gained interest in this field. In some instances this phase makes me think of the cooling, mentholated, moist aspects of Hermann A Mes Cotes Me Paraissait Une Ombre. Either way, I find this lovely, reduced to the point, much in line with the history of some Comme releases, a la Series 1 Leaves, or Series 6 Synthetic - however, more restrained, seconding the dualist theme of the two-component couples highlight here. Recommended for anyone curious in current takes on vetiver and aficionados of Comme's Series over the years!

Love this one - it is exactly how it sounds. The fresh, almost bracing scent of a newly cut radish with the earthy, grounding scent of vetiver. Very wearable for something so unique! As time goes on the radish fades a bit, and you're left with a lovely warm vetiver and a slight camphorous vibe. I'd say it is suitable for men and women - all fragrance is, sure, but this one specifically doesn't have a very conventionally masculine or feminine facet. It is a purely unique experience. CdG is my favorite fragrance house, and stuff like the Clash series is the reason why. They're willing to take risks, but always try to keep it balanced and wearable. ELdO is risky...but is less concerned with every risk being 'wearable'. CdG has just the right balance, and Radish Vetiver speaks to that playful nature. Also, what a steal for the price!

@radish note...I don't like you, you don't like me, let's get that out the way. I was agog for about 8 wonderful vetiver seconds then everything turned into wet soggy leaves. Kooky is clearly the goal here. I can't escape the feeling of plant life on my skin. At one point, it felt like there was a struggle for supremacy between the woody and green accords. Later it becomes more apparent that the vetiver is the crystalline centerpiece of this peat moss perfume. The puniness of this fragrance brings joy to my heart. I can't imagine walking around all day smelling like a Fuji Apple Chicken Salad from Panera. I find this to be more show and tell than something to be taken seriously. This is a smell from my childhood. Running barefoot in the grass after summer rain or when the sprinklers have been on and getting wet and muddy, not a care in the world. This is what I expected from DS & Durgas 'Steamed Rainbow', but that is a prettier, more romanticsed/wearable version wheread this one is a photorealistic geosmin (wet soil/mud) scent, soothing down the soul. This is the closest i've smelt a perfume replicate something after Solstice scents. I can smell the same inky vetiver in this that is in encre noire, a sort of sharp Metallic inkiness but this is wetter and greener and I can actually enjoy the vetiver in this. I think this would be a really fun one to layer with moody florals or anything you want to add wet earth to.

Before I get in to - let’s give those ridiculous story telling reviews the boot. What are you talking about making love in a forest with a man whose eyes are glowing, Radiohead is playing in the distance, the geese are roosting. Enough LOL! Now, the scent - hyper realistic earth and vegetation. The clean radish is there, it’s crunchy. There’s fresh earthy scent to it. A green wood as well. It’s quite an avant garde scent. I see this as CdG’s take on gourmand scents, however going in the complete opposite direction of the other perfumers typical scents of fruit, berries, spices. My issue with this one is that it doesn’t really go anywhere. You’re stuck in the earth with radishes. Maybe it’s my skin type? But this scent did not evolve.

Literal radish and vetiver/vetiver-like woody accord I'm always surprised by how interesting CdG fragrances are. Radish vetiver starts unmistakably radish-y, fresh and vegetal green, like smelling a freshly cut, turgid radish. Soon after the vetiver facets start peaking through the radish illusion, slightly rooty and earthy, but mostly clean sharp green woody, a bit smoky, not a particularly accurate or naturalistic vetiver representation, more so an abstract evocation. is this a must own for anyone or a particularly functional fragrance? probably not. But if you enjoy fresh spicy green modern vetiver interpretations its worth checking out.

Beautifully earthy, crisp. Hands elbow deep in dark, wet soil. Smell of gardening in the early morning, while all the edible plants are still covered in morning dew. Absolutely no flowers in sight in this garden, this is the one in the back of your grandma's house, not for show, but to provide organic nutrition. There's some inky undertones and a little bit of that akigalawood sharpness, but its balanced well by the dampness of the soil. There's absolutely nothing sweet about this fragrance, so definitely for people who enjoy more savoury scents.

Yay, it's back on the shelves. Review below is for the 2025 bottles. Radish: Check. Vetiver: Eh. Crunchy green, mineralic earthiness, peppery, watery, yup, that's radish alright. There's even some mustardy components present, typically found in horse radish, although it might just be my brain auto-completing the concept. Nonetheless, the radish is done very well, but the vetiver is having a difficult time making itself known due to all the soily notes. Dries down to mostly Geosmin after an hour or so.

Muddy walks in the great outdoors, dusty attics, and yes, radishes and other root vegetables. Great earthy and green smell from CdG. The perfumery industry has lots of interesting aromatics and bases with earthy-rooty character, besides geosmin and verdoracine, but they rarely reach the retail arena. Congrats to CdG for bringing us this beauty which is actually wearable, too. Superb.

The 80s in a parallel universe. "Hi-tech" yet retro beautiful, earthy greenness. So simple, and yet so complex in its dimensions. The layers aren't so much deep as they are broad, much like Saturn's rings. My favorite of the Clash line and worthy of a full bottle. Nathalie: well done. I salute you.

I think this is a good option as a better sillage alternative to amazingreen. However it definitely has a stronger aquatic sense to it. Overall I like this scent a lot, however it is very bright. I wish the vetiver aspect was stronger.

Smells exactly like radish in the opening, then exactly like wet soil. Smells like gardening, but very dirty, not crisp freshly cut grass but hands in the soil and worms and compost.

For anyone interested, apparently all 3 scents from Series 10 are back!(Said by CDG Parfums on Instagram) The collection has also been rebranded as "Series 10: ACCIDENT"

Weird, ozonic, metallic vetiver. Olfactory art, but I don't want to wear it. I'd either reach for the citrus ozonic Vetiver Extraordinaire or Terre d'Hermes.
