Bois

I wasn't looking for any new fragrances but I happened to sample this at Sephora and was quite intrigued. On their website it's currently marked down to 40% off so I ended up paying $63 for it (original price being over $100). This fragrance is ALL WOODS to the Nth degree. On my skin, I smell mostly sandalwood and Angelica with a soft dry down of vanilla and it makes me happy! Bois (wood in French) is a very light, subtle fragrance (and the sandalwood IS very creamy). Non-offensive, elegant and smooth like the description says. Bois is very much an appropriate name for this perfume, but it's almost lacking. Bois just sounds so unimaginative and boring - this fragrance deserves something more creative. Not a great selling point if you ask me but that's just personal taste. I think you can wear this in the evening and during the day, as it sits close to the skin and doesn't leave a cloud of sandalwood around you, though not necessarily a bad thing. My only complaint with Bois is that it's longevity sucks. For me, one spray isn't enough so that it'll last all day long. No. It drys down fairly fast and settles almost immediately. Faded quickly. I guess, the only thing to mitigate early fading is to spray a few times before leaving the house because the fragrance is so light. It could also be my skin chemistry too. Iv'e noticed that Cedarwood and sandalwood (any kind of earthy, woody scent really) specifically tend to blend in with my natural smell and are masked easily. There's floral notes in here, but I honestly barely noticed them. The orchid and freesia appear briefly in the opening, along with pink pepper, and disappear after a few seconds. Maybe because it's a cruelty free mix? You can probably layer this fragrance underneath other warm scents. Nonetheless, it's completely sold out on Sephora's website right now, so that should tell you something about this fragrance. If you live in Cleveland/Akron Ohio area, I picked up my bottle at South Park Mall in Strongsville. Beachwood Mall sold out of their stock. If you're contemplating buying, just go for it (it's ON SALE!). Pleasantly surprised.

I'm surprised this was rated largely as feminine, since personally I find it as unisex, leaning masculine. It conjures up a scene of a romantic hike in the woods. It's an alluring, warm woodsy scent. Initially, you are hit with a spiciness that comingles with the earthy wood notes. As it dries down, a warm floral blanket embraces you. Finally, you're left with a musky sweet marriage of sandalwood and vanilla, but the cedar still politely lingers. I would love this as a candle which reading, or a comforting scent to wear to bed. As a girly woman, I wouldn't wear this during the day, but I could see this as a daytime scent on my partner. - IG@GoodBuyBonjour

Smelled this fragrance years ago in Sephora and decided not to get it. She was kept in the back of my mind all that time and I was so happy when I found out Commodity was back! Purchased a full size during Black Friday sales. It’s a perfect daytime scent, unisex with some woody floral notes and pink pepper. Layering this with a subtle vanilla bodylotion really completes the fragrance to make it lean a bit sweeter. I do wish the scent would linger a bit longer.

I was surprised with this scent. I expected it to be more woodsy but it's not at all. The wood notes are very mild on me. It's like a spicy floral, with a sexy vanilla and a hint tropical to me. If you like dark floral scents, musk, and sandalwood - then this is for you. Longevity is weak unfortunately, but it is a lovely attractive scent!

Smells very peachy to me & super fresh. Got it on a clearance. Definitely worth it on discount. Projection is very med but it’s more like a skin scent that I constantly bring my arm to smell. It’s soo good. And worth mentioning it can be worn year round as it’s not offensive nor strong
