Gin

It opens with a blast of lime and tart grape fruit, which last maybe 15-30 mins and then reveals the juniper and ginger for a short time 15-30 mins. On my skin the whole opening is right under 30 mins or less and then a really smoky oak wood starts to come through i get a very little hint of the labdanum and patchouli but very light to my nose. I then get mostly a very dark woody smoky oud like smell After a hour it really reminds me of a oud base fragrance, in fact to my nose it smells alot like tom fords oud wood at this point the ginger lime opening is completely gone. It doesnt have the strength of amouage but it also reminds me of that to for a couple hours. Performance seems to be lacking but i just bought the bottle , maybe after a couple months on my shelf and some maceration it will get better but right now im getting 4 hours ish... Is it a safe blind buy..? probably not, why is it call gin..? i drink gin, Seagrams and bombay sapphire ,my favorite . Bombay sapphire does have some herby notes and i think juniper but to be quite honest i dont think this a gin fragrance

"Dark, moody and intense"?? Not even a little bit. Gin feels a bit boozy to me in the opening (more champagne than gin, really), but that could just be the power of suggestion. It fades immediately, though, into a sparkly, fizzy, ginger and citrus fragrance that is perfect for summer days. It feels carefree and casual, toes-in-the-sand, nothing to worry about except what to do this evening. It's light enough to be safe for the office, and even has a mood-lightening effect on me. I would absolutely make this a signature scent if it lasted more than half an hour. Unfortunately, I put it on at 8:30 am and it's already gone by the time I get to work at 9:00. I got a 10ml sample as my August pick in a perfume of the month club—that was a birthday present!—and much as I like it, I won't be buying a full bottle (unless I can find one for $35 like dogmeat, below).

This is really nice, smells like a gin and ginger ale. Perfectly refreshing, fizzy, and citrusy all while being surprisingly classy. I was not expecting much from this one, but I am pleasantly surprised. I think this is unisex but leans masculine for sure. Performance seems to be quite nice and will last 8 hours easily. It projects about an arm's length but keeps a nice classy bubble around the wearer. Very nice, interested to try more from this house! NOTE: There are 2 listings for this fragrance. My bottle looks like the one listed here, I am not sure what the differences are between the two.

I'm glad others have compared to G water because when I first sniffed its what I thought of. I did do a day long side by side (well, one on each wrist) comparison and water is far more linear and woody as opposed to aromatic on my skin, and Gin far outlasts G water and has more powerful sillage (for a citrusy fragrace) Fragrant and aromatic to begin, i smell freesia and msuk as well. Dries down very pleasantly, to my nose its a musky, aromatic and slightly smoky skin scent. Enjoyed it, not my thing really (vanilla gourmands for life) but it is a good one!!!

I can definitely agree with the most reviewers that this is very heavy on ginger and woody notes. This heavily leans masculine, and unlike Byredo's scent, I don't think this is easy for me to wear, as I prefer more unisex scents. This scent is not light, nor do I find it "safe" and inoffensive. It's a very strong ginger-heavy opening and it dries into herbal woods notes. I do consider it dark and intense. For me personally, it's not my scent.

I can see the idea of Gin in the opening. However, after 2h it settles more like a less bright scent, like a fresh dense scent. It does remind me of Under the Lemon Trees after 3 hours. Glad I bought it during the sale, because €45 is a great price dor what you get.

Strong juniper with ginger and citrus to open up. Quickly becoming more woody as it dries while retaining sort of coughdrop-like aromatics (not menthol) that helps open up the nasal cavity, if you know what I mean. It doesn't take long to not notice the scent anymore, but I have gotten compliments on it hours after application, so it's still there, just going noseblind to it. I like the notes, and it does remind me of gin, but this perfume as a whole is mediocre to me. It feels like it's missing something.

Sharp, fresh, and undeniably masculine leaning. The opening promises something bright with juniper and citrus, but on my skin it quickly softens into a faint, watery scent that disappears faster than expected. Within 20 minutes it felt like it was almost gone. Longevity is poor and sillage very light, at least for me. If you enjoy crisp gin-and-tonic inspired fragrances, it may appeal, but personally it didn’t live up to its name or hold my interest.

i would say this smells alright, smells good but doesnt blow me away i think, i get mostly ginger and mild while florals, there was citrus in the opening but its mostly gone i think. its like pretty mild smelling in general a few hours later it started smelling strange like leather or clay... so thats weird. must be the smoke and musk for the base notes, whatever it is im not fond of it

I took a little gander of this one and was like pause. What is this. I mean immediately my synapses were firing. It was like a sparkly sweet bitter juniper berry beverage. Maybe gin, maybe more like tonic water or something. I was very much into it. Unfortunately my enthusiasm dissipated when it dried down, because it was then way more masculine and way like a car air freshener.

This is a very masculine leaning scent when first putting on. Its very overpowering for like the first half hour. Then it does settle down. This overall last maybe 4 hours?

Opening: fresh squeezed lime, zesty and natural Dry down: hmmm, I forgot I was wearing scent Nice opening, but that’s all I have to report. Pass.

Why are there two Gin listings for this house? In any case, my official sample came from a coffret, half white and half black spray mini bottles. Whatever positive elements there are to this scent, those are drowned out by the massive use of aroma chemicals (definitely something wood-like), though I don't think this is as rich in iso e super as some other "chemical scents" I've tried are. Coincidentally, I wrote up a long post on the Basenotes site about how recent niche is of little interest to me, and this is a great example of that (their Whiskey scent is also highly chemical/synthetic but for me this one is even worse!). So, if you smell this scent and think it's natural smelling, then I guess you can totally disregard this review. If you are like me and require something a lot closer to the vintage greats, in terms of "naturalness," then I don't think you'd want to own a bottle of this one.

I just scooped this at TJ Maxx for $35...clear bottle, white label, white cap, which is how it currently appears on the brand's website. At first spray, there is a strong, fresh lime. As it dries down, it's a woodsy musk with juniper berries and ginger. This is super clean without being soapy. It comes off as classy and upscale, while still being really simple and easy to wear. This is giving me real country club vibes or maybe Robert Redford in The Great Gatsby. Gin wears pretty light, but it's good for days you don't feel like wearing anything too heavy and want something refreshing instead. I don't know if I would pay full retail for it ($135), but for the price I paid, it's a no-brainer.

See the review below, it's definitely worth the recent pricetag. I do get a similar vibe to Lacoste's L'homme Intense for some reason but there's a quality lime there that permeates everything really well and maintains a natural freshness that Lacoste doesn't have in it's ambroxan heavy aura. The lime never goes away for me, even a few hours in, but the woody notes definitely surface a bit more and overtake the gingery/juniper combo that rides in with the lime on the opening. I don't know, for 40 bucks, it's a no brainer and I am glad I found a bottle before Commodity ends up officially at the bottom of the sea.

I truly do understand the Aventus comparison. My husband has aventus and wears it pretty often, and me spraying this on my hand, all I can think once it dries down is him wearing aventus. However, this has a sharper and stronger cocktail aspect. If I see the big bottle of this, I’ll definitely snag it. It’s sexy, dark, mysterious. “You don’t know me” type of attitude.

This smells so good! A strong hit of lime which fades into a spicy, woody scent. I was afraid it might actually smell like gin, but it’s wonderful. I don’t know how original it is, but it sure is good, I would classify this one as leaning masculine, but could definitely be pulled off by anyone who wanted to smell like sexy lime wood!

Got this on sale at Marshall's for $34.95! Pretty straight forward cocktail with lime and ginger. Smells very natural and longevity is above the average "cocktail" fragrance from, say Demeter or Tommy Bahama. HIGH quality ingredients can be smelled here. Totally worth $34.95!

Too bad this company is discontinued!! I’ve come to love this one! It smells like the crispness of opening a nice ginger ale, that sweet, tart, lemon/lime feel!! It is really nice and fun, great for spring summer!!
