I didn't realize until looking to leave this review that this Commodity fragrance is listed as a men's and not a men's and women's fragrance, which is odd to me. The way it dries down on my skin reads very reminiscent of scents I've smell on grown women before. Classically, my body chemistry plays different with scents than the mass market. I get very little if any of the opening notes and go straight to the heart and base. This on me is a very well done vanilla wood, with just a bit of edge (from those opening notes that are indiscernible but just barely there). This helped me learn that benzoin is probably something that plays well with me, because I have loved amber and musk. I recently decided to layer it with just a tiny bit of A City on Fire from Imaginary Author and after dry down married so great and lasted for a very, very long time. I am not interested in what other possibilities they are if I think of this as a vanilla forward scent. (For myself)

This one is a must have for me! I wore this today and received a few compliments on how good I smelled. Vanilla and the tonka wood plays with honey and a light musk. It's a good combo!

Opening notes are a bit harsh (camphor, juniper, no doubt), about 10 minutes later, it smells like a mild version of Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s Vanille Ambre (except Comptoir’s is all natural). Normally, I would like that. Unfortunately, we’re not yet finished. That vanilla amber goes away in about 45 minutes and the sharp, pungent benzoin comes in and ruins the party. Benzoins and aldehydes are old-school additives, no longer needed, nor wanted (I prefer aldehydes if I had to choose). Benzoin makes it cloyingly sweet, just awful stuff and has no place in modern perfumery. Some of these new fragrance people like to experiment by revisiting old ingredients, perhaps to increase sillage or longevity, or, maybe, evoke nostalgia. Did not work anyway. *Note to them: Leave out the fake stuff. And the musk, too, while you’re at it.

Possesses an antiquated quality. Its projection lacks potency, which is perhaps fortunate as it is not entirely pleasant as it progresses into its dry down phase on my skin. The scent further triggers an irksome sensation in the throat, leading to an unpleasant experience. Notably, it bears a resemblance to the scent of plywood.

This house has some great scents, this being one of them....but the most important factor, at least one for me, the LONGEVITY sucks on ALL of them. I have some edc and edts killing them. Oh well....pass
