Gold

Commodity's Gold is a masterfully blended resinous, aromatic vanilla; one of my favorite fragrances of all time. This is comfortingly sweet yet not cloying, and a super classy pick. The star of the show here is obviously Commodity's scrumptious vanilla note. Though this is a very distinct fragrance from Commodity's Milk, the powdery, gourmand vanilla note is carried over; it reminds me of the powdery coating store-bought marshmallows have. This vanilla is beautifully combined with aromatic juniper notes and powdery musks which makes this fragrance far less gourmand than anticipated. The mid and top notes are complimented perfectly by a bed of airy sandalwood and a sumptuous yet unobtrusive benzoin note. The sillage is completely adequate, about a 6/10 strength, but it is noticeable as this gets me heaps of compliments. The longevity is good enough as well, I get 6-8 hours of weartime. This is aromatic enough to be worn throughout most of the year, but I think it shines in cold weather. Overall, this is a fantastic, unique vanilla fragrance that is super comforting yet classy. 10/10. Side note: If you are looking for something with better projection, I would NOT recommend the Gold+ Bold iteration, as I find that fragrance to be completely ruined by an added note of screechy, cardboard-like saffron in the Bold scent space.

I really really love this perfume. I don't know if it just reacts really well with my skin, but it's addicting to smell on myself and one of the very few perfumes I don't get very quickly anosmic to. It's pretty simple, but not in a way that's boring. I am a true gourmand lover, I want to smell stupidly sweet and edible like you just walked into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. This is a much more mature and elevated version of that, Gold sits very sweet and vanilla-y on my skin but without being a sucker punch of sugar. I loooove the slightly spicy, woody, incense base from the sandalwood and benzoin. A lot of people here are saying the longevity is quite weak but I haven't noticed that at all, it definitely doesn't last all day long, but certainly 5-6 hours and I can smell it faintly on my clothes the next day. As a lot of people are saying, the juniper note doesn't really come through, but that hasn't dissuaded me lol. This is a very warm, comforting, sweet fragrance that I would absolutely recommend to any gourmand lovers looking for something easy to wear and elevated from a typical sugar bomb.

There are so many Gold Commodity fragrances on fragrantica that I get confused on which one is which. To be clear - there are three different versions: Gold - (Personal, white bottle), Gold (Expressive, black bottle white lettering), Gold + (Bold, black bottle bronze lettering). The notes on this page align with the Gold expressive, which is Commodity's first rendition of Gold. This is a beautiful fragrance for cooler weather and winter time. The sweetness of the benzoin is very prominent throughout but it's not overbearing or nauseating in any way. I get zero powder from this at all. The vanilla in Gold reminds me of the vanilla I get from from Nishane Ani without the ginger and cardamom. If I could rename this one I would call it sweet balsam or sweet winter, because that's what it reminds me of. The sillage and longevity are moderate, but I have received compliments on this from men in the winter. Especially when laying it with by the fireplace (ultimate winter bomb). I don't reach for it often, but when I do it makes me soooo happy. Good memories of the holidays and snowcapped pine trees :)

I had first tried the Gold + (Bold) and fell in love with its creaminess and that subtle nutmeg note, so I was delighted but sceptical when I received this in my Ipsy box as a Choice item. I had to try it immediately! It doesn't disappoint - I love this scent as much as the Bold version - it's unique, creamy, slightly spicy, and definitely not overly vanilla-heavy. This fragrance is an incredibly well-blended fragrance, and I applaud Commodity for busting out and away from the typical perfume notes that we're seeing through the 2020's which seem to be no more than throwbacks to the 80's/90's perfumes. This scent truly sings when the weather is more wintery. Projection is good but a safe office scent. Longevity is decent, but with proper moisturizing prior to application, this can last all day, and it certainly lasts all day (and night!) on clothing. A beautiful breakaway from your typical perfumes!

When I smell this perfume I get a very mellow creamy sort of green scent. I have never smelled any perfume like this, so I would say it's unique. I feel like this is the type of perfume that I would likely spray more times because of how mellow the scent is, I usually do about 4 sprays. However, I think this perfume could use about 6-8 sprays. To me, this perfume is unisex and doesn't lean in either direction. The scent is cozy, and comforting and sort of reminds me of going on holiday in the mountains during the wintertime. It's creamy, sweet and green and there's a good balance between all of it. Sometimes perfumes will be heavy leaning in one direction, but the notes in this perfume blend well together.

Oh I love her!! She’s unique and beautiful. At first, the juniper top note on my skin was a little more aromatic than what i remembered, and not what I was expecting... but I knew to just wait and trust the process! It certainly warms up on your skin and becomes a warm, addicting and aromatic dream. It’s a beautiful contrast. As it dries down, the juniper hangs on in the background while the vanilla and amber come out more. It’s a vanilla fragrance with a trick up it’s sleeve. The vanilla is not cloying or overly sweet, it’s just pure crushed vanilla pod. I can definitely see the similarities between Gold and Eau Duelle, not sure if it’s necessary to have both. I think I’ll fly through my sample.

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. It's gorgeous. I have the expressive and it's my signature scent. I over spray and it's just the perfect amount of oomph without being overbearing. Sweet light airy vanilla but not cake vanilla, an ethereal vanilla. I imagine wearing a flower wreath and bounding floatily through a meadow of flowers...but they smell like vanilla.( is floatily a word? It should be) I definitely recommend commodity gold expressive and if you like scents like Gypsy water, Vanille Insensée by Atelier BCR rough or gentle fluidity gold this is not only a safe blind buy but a requirement for your future happiness 😊 jk but it is very good and if you like those you will love this one

I loved this fragrance the moment I sprayed it on the blotter. It is almost edible on my skin. It is luxurious and warm. It dries down musky, woody, and sweet on my skin. It lasts forever. I can even smell it on my clothes days later when I'm doing laudry. It is warm and does project pretty well, but I wear it lightly sprayed to work. I do wear a lab coat over my clothes so that could buffer it some. I get compliments every time I wear it. I love it. I wouldn't say it is blind buy safe exactly. It is a warm vanilla fragrance though so it is probably one of the safer scents from Commodity if you like that profile.

I simply love this fragrance. It's slightly woodsy and fresh at the begining then evolves into a comforting warm blanket of vanilla and amber. I have a whole bottle of this as I was in love at first sniff. Yes, it is a simple fragrance, but I think it does the simple notes perfectly which is just what you need sometimes with all the complex fragrances on the market. I do not sprits this lighlty, I drown in it as it definitely does not have strong projection, which would be my only critique.

It has a very clear, slightly spicy, and green opening. Its drys down into a very creamy and smoothy vanilla. It has an overall woody undertone. There is a clean element to it. The dry down is like an ice cream: vanilla, smooth, milky but not overly sweet. Its a interesting vanilla since it goes cold rather than amber. It's one of my favourites but the bold space added more amber and musk notes so that version loses the cold aspect which I really enjoy from the expressive.

Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's totally up my ambery-vanilla alley :) I love the fresh juniper combined with the creamy/lactonic vanilla and amber notes, it's not overly feminine due to the herbal opening, but the drydown is to die for. I love the way this fragrance develops on my skin. It's not super similar to Dedcool's Taunt, but it gives me the same feeling in the way that it combines green notes with vanilla and deeper resinous notes.

I like this formulation the best out of the three, it’s really nice! Creamy, musky and a bit sweet with a slight aromatic edge. All three also have this paper-like quality on my skin, in a good way. Maybe it’s the musk/woods combo. It reminds me of perusing through used books at the market I go to every summer (makes me wonder what Paper & Book by Commodity smell like lol). A very nostalgic & sophisticated scent :)

This is such a cozy scent that has become my everyday fragrance. I can wear it without feeling nauseous or get any migraines which I get really easily. With vanilla frags, I believe you can become a little anosmic to them. I can spray this in the evening and still smell it on my clothes the next day. It doesn’t have crazy silage but it doesn’t disappear. (My unpopular opinion but I enjoy this much more than GW)

love soft, crisp, breezy vanilla, but still has weight and depth. i reached for this almost everyday of autumn and winter 2023-2024. it lasts all day on either my clothes or my skin. inoffensible but still interesting i think it smells cool and expensive. i use this to spray my room/ closet a few days before a date hehe pretty straight forward blend, nothing really changes or shifts along the scent journey.

Wow! Ordered a sample and upon initial spray I was liking... then as it sat and I kept smelling it I got a sense of nostalgia ... it’s basically Herve Leger!! I absolutely loved that scent back in the day and it’s been discontinued for many years. I’m so happy I’ve found a scent that brings back the memories of Herve Leger... needless to say, I purchased a full bottle immediately!! Post haste 😄

I really love how this smells. It’s vanilla without being sickly sweet vanilla. I do not like vanilla that gives off sugary cake vibes. This has a freshness to it I can’t explain. Crisp, cozy vanilla. I am thinking about trying a travel size first. I would probably wear this year round personally. It reminds me a lot of Colette by tocca which I love but that one has horrendous longevity

This smells now like gypsy water and the steel grey tocca more than l remember. And the notes have changed. If you have either of those just that and maybe 1 squirt of mix bars vanilla bourbon body mist and you def don't need this. And what are all the plusses and minuses and what do they mean as they all have the same notes. Concentration maybe wtf knows

Instant love!! Sweet warm woody fragrance with warming vanilla undertones. On the edge of gourmand but still more woody. Also with juniper berries you’ll get a bit of freshness. So good but so overpriced. If you like scents like Gypsy Water and Rosie Jane Lake, this is similar but with more vanilla. It doesn't last very long (like four or five hours) but while it lasts, it has noticeable sillage. I didn't love Milk because of the smoky note but I loved Gold instantly. I recommend trying this if Milk didn't work for you.

I adore this fragrance, it smells amazing. The scent smelled so familiar to me, and I couldn't place it for months. Finally I realized that it smells similar to the Tokidoki Donutella perfume that Sephora sold years ago. That was a really special fragrance from my childhood, and it makes me happy that I can relive it with Commodity Gold.

This scent is like slipping into your favorite pair of jammy pants. You know those pants, they are buttery soft and they fit your body in the exact way you like. They’re worn in and comfy in a way that just makes you feel safe and at home. This is just pure comfort in a bottle. Fluffy, soft, sweet, and utterly cozy.

For me this smells musky and glamorous, effeminate in a powerful way. The projection was strong and it lasted most of the day, clinging to clothes after. I don't think it smells high quality enough to warrant the price, though the sillage might justify it, and likely won't buy a full size unless it is discounted.

This was one of those love att fist sniff perfumes for me. It just feels so comforting with its almost burnt sugar, warm spicy vanilla and creamy woody goodness, it reminds me of something from my childhood but I can't put my finger on it. It's just love, instant love. A full bottle is on my wishlist.

i love this a lot. the vanilla and amber go so well together with the benzoin and sandalwood , so warm and cozy and perfect for a cold winter day. reminds me of bare vanilla by victoria’s secret a lot on the dry down. perfectly encapsulates how gold would smell like. sweet and sexy.

I do get a slight baby doll head. But I mainly get a powdery sweet vanilla warmed up with amber and some light pine trees on the background . If you want to try a woody vanilla but don’t want it too woody, this is it. I might try layering this w Diptyque Eau Duelle or Liis Bo

I absolutely adore this vanilla scent. I love the name gold because I see it as a bougie vanilla. The only issue I have is the sillage is very minimal, I was hoping Gold+ would fix that issue but to me its a totally different scent and I don't love it the way I love Gold.

y'all are crazy for calling this a grandma perfume. It's so sexy and luxurious?? Specifically the expressive gold. I also dont think it's weak at all! IT personally lasts a while on me, checks off my warm vanilla notes, and makes me feel hot. What more could you ask for

not a huge fan of most gourmands because i like things to be more ‘gothic’, but this is honestly lovely. it feels so deep and almost mature? feels like it fills a room. vanilla not toooooo sweet and gourmand-y, just with enough other stuff to make me hooked. lovely.

a cozy, sexy vanilla. soft & intoxicatingly sweet in a grown up kind of way. creamy chai lattes, crinkly fallen leaves & soft skin under an ivory knit sweater come to mind when I smell this. obsessed with this during the autumn months especially! 🍂🍨

Warm amber with a powdery, cozy vanilla . That’s mainly what I get. Very pretty , not heavy , a bit light1 I can pull this off in summer but it does tend to evaporate. But I love sleeping with this fragrance on! So cosy and warm

Slightly unisex vanilla with a hint of woods. Very sexy. Woods make it more wearable year round, not too sweet or cloying. It lasts alright but sillage and projection are intimate. Overshadowed by Milk but at least as good.

I'm clear some of these reviewers have never smelled this fragrance... yes fragrance IS subjective... but unless your nose is covid broken. We all are going to smell similar things it's just the nature of the composition!

I am obsessed. Woodsy, spicy, slightly sweet. Considering one of the top notes is vanilla, I was not expecting this scent to be as complex as it is. It is cozy, comforting, and kind of sexy without being over the top.

This is a perfect rainy day fragrance to wear when you don’t feel like suffocating yourself in aromatics. It’s a nice warm hug that smells like an old wooden chest dusted in vanilla, in a good way. Almost nostalgic.

beautiful for a crisp december day. it’s woody and warm and ambery and perfect for winter. my only complaint is that the projection is so small and the price is way too much for how weak it is.

this one grew on me quickkk. sprayed myself in sephora and my initial impressions was of metal. not super satisfying but it dried down into a sort of smoky scent. i love this so so much

Bought it almost a year ago and NOW I am obsessed - this one needs to macerate. Excellent layering perfume. Kind of reminds me of Byredo Gypsy Water at times but a far better perfume.

Oh wow, the combination of vanilla and freshness really pull this together nicely. Puts a twist on the generic vanilla scent. It's unique and refined while still being super cozy :]

It's nice. It's soft, office friendly. I don't think you can go wrong with it but it's one dimensional IMO. It's almost identical to Gentle Fluidity Gold so you don't need both.

Woody vanilla with a little sweet, no spice. But not gormand, just the right touch of sweet. Easy wear, Dumb reach for the fall!

What happened to the gold with the camphor in it? I believe it had a release date on it. I know it was before COVID

Warm, woody, amber-y, sensual, aromatic, softly sweet, sophisticated, cozy, comforting, and with a soft spicy freshness. I find the vanilla, amber, juniper, and sandalwood to be the most prominent notes. I do get a bit of a spicy freshness from the juniper, especially in the opening. As it dries down it becomes more warm and cozy. It has a really golden feel from the warmth of the molten amber that swirls throughout the rich vanilla and woody Sandalwood. This is one of the very few fragrances I like that is much more of a unisex fragrance as opposed to being feminine. This feels like a fragrance that’s going to work best during fall and winter. The coziness of it will really shine in the colder weather. It’s a nice casual yet sophisticated scent that will make an easy reach when you want something with warmth and that cozy feel. I get great performance with Commodity Gold. The longevity is really good, it lasts the entire day on me. The projection is nice too, it radiates out at least a few feet from me. I only need a few spritz’s to get these results, so I think this is a good value for its price.

This scent is a true ambery-sandalwood. On the initial spray you mainly get the musk and fresh notes like the sandalwood and juniper, and there is a certain sweetness to this fragrance even from the first spray. On the dry down after it’s sat on the skin for an hour or so, the amber and vanilla start to peak through and the sweetness of the fragrance gets stronger. This is definitely NOT a gourmand though by any means, this is a clean-adjacent fragrance with a subtlety of vanilla. The real star of the show of commodity gold are the musk, sandalwood, and amber which really are the strongest notes in this. It’s a beautifully blended fragrance and is very smooth and sophisticated, I personally really enjoy this! However if you’re not a fan typically of sandalwood heavy perfumes (most generic being a scent like le labo santal (bad example I know but most popular)) i will say this may not be a safe blind buy for you and I would recommend sampling first! But this is a winner in my book

Gold ☀️ This fragrance has the energy of someone whose life is already in place. No parties. No drama. No flirting. Just a beautiful morning in a dream house, a vanilla latte, white clothes, palm trees outside the window and a vacation that never seems to end. Expensive, polished and quietly luxurious. To my nose, it leans a little masculine — like a well-dressed person with excellent taste, wearing a white polo and clean sneakers on a sunny weekend. There is something calm and successful about it. Nothing loud, nothing attention-seeking. A fragrance for people who don't need to prove anything. My rating: 9/10 ✨
