Commodity's Leather definitely captures the uItra-shiny, thick, luxe scent of leather-- but if you're thinking traditional 'cowboy boots and saddle' leather, or even 'shoe I bought from the upper market' leather, this is another kind of leather altogether. For starters, it lacks the earthiness that comes in actual leather. However, the very slight wood note from what I think is the Styrax, adds the warmth of actual leather to Commodity's scent which is a plus. The kind of leather you're looking for here? Hot, burning car tire leather. Kinky, NSFW, BDSM leather. The packaging you open from your latest eBay transaction containing a replica of expensive clothing made of leather. Straight-out-of-the-factory, manufactured leather. (And also scotch tape.) If you're looking for something sexy, but are also the type who likes to challenge people you meet with something stimulating, check out Commodity's Leather.

Gorgeous - like 2nd cousin Donna Karan Black Cashmere is hanging out with Leather’s sister CDG Quarzazarte. Brother definately Barbados Dark Rebel Rider. DRR has more smoke and leather. Dry spice - oregano there but in a very subtle way, juniper a bit more present. Dry spicy incense, touch of smoke, whisper of resin. Nose would parse this as a very lightly leathered fragrance. Not quite the throw and last of DRR and you might well not need both - although I’d want at least one. As with DRR I wouldn’t in any way call this a cacao fragrance - it is barely present as slightly sweeter element of the resin base.

I have a mini bottle of this. I wanted to give it a limited trial before committing to a full bottle. A while back, I purchased a full bottle of John Varvatos Dark Rebel Rider. I love that fragrance, but the longevity and projection are both weak. I got a sample of this as part of the Commodity Storybook. To me, this is almost the same as DRR, but it lasts longer and projects. Rodrigo Flores-Roux is the nose behind both of them, and the same idea was applied to both. As for the leather, it is stiff shiny black leather, not the soft supple kind. That influences the mood... definitely dirty.

Awesome scent. I cant get enough. Its not like Tuscan Leather at all. Tuscan Leather is a clean corporate board room or day in court scent. Commodity leather opens up with a dark, dirty, smoky leather that reminds me a little of John Varvatos Dark Rebel but much better in quality and longer lasting. Masculine and a little rough around the edges. The smell eventually fades into a nice warm sweet Myrrh. If you have a bit of dark past or want to hint at a darker aspect of your personality, this might be the scent for you. Big Love for this one!!!!

Another great leather cologne. A bit like Tom Ford's, but less old lipstick / lady purse smell. More spice and candle, especially at first - it dries iinto a very authentic leather smell, not new leather car seat or leather jacket outer, but like a raw leather coat interior. Not as old chair as Gucci Guilty Absolute or sweet and creamy as Santal 33/Commodity Book, but a very good cologne. Well worth the price. My #3 favorite, after Commodity Book, then Juice.

This reminds me of an old cabin the woods. There's handmade wooden furniture with worn leather seats, and there's a lake outside the window. Woody, and the leather note is very prominent in the beginning. It's not a clean leather in any sense of the word. It leans masculine, but I think that someone who loves a dry, woody scent would deeply enjoy it.

Everyone is saying that this is dirty and rough. I find this extremely luxurious with big amber and myrrh, giving the gorgeous leather a semi sweet round texture and scent. It is one of my fav leathers next to Bel Am I and Knize Ten. Modern and beautiful.

Starts out dark and animalistic, but in a great way. It dries down into a beautiful ambery scent. A lot of reviews say it’s masculine, but as a woman who wears this I find it very sexy and have received compliments while wearing this. It’s a love for me.

Leather is deep, dark and sensuous. This is more a labdanum scent than leather, though. Leather is in the backdrop while the syrupy, printer ink-like qualities of labdanum shine through. Quite beautiful.

I found the initial hit deeply spicily sexy, then when I went for the drydown sniff it had already faded. Within a very short time there was barely any scent at all. I had been tempted by a bargain price for 100ml, then decided to be sensible (for once) and buy a 10ml to try it out, as I have a fair few leather fragrances. It was definitely the right move. This differs from all my others as the leather, to me, is the soft suede underside of a new leather jacket, earthy and raw, but it's a fleeting moment of bliss. It wouldn't matter how little I paid for a 100ml bottle, it would work out expensive for the very short time the fragrance lasts. It's so disappointing as I also have Gin, Paper and Tonka by Commodity and they all last at least 6 hours.

Leather babywipes. The softest, most intimate and inoffensive leather fragrance I ever tried. Projection is intimate first 15 min, then it opens up and become moderate for about hour, and after that it is skin scent for another 4 hours. It requires a lot of overspraying and/or layering with Molecule 1 (all Commodity Archive and Discontinued series do!).

Quite an easy to wear leather scent for almost any time of year, day or night. Polite but noticeable sillage. One thing I can't quite reconcile is an accord I can only describe as a collection of 'makeup-like' notes that invariably push this more towards being feminine rather than centrally unisex. I still enjoy the scent very much tough. :o)

Very animalic leather! Borderline fecal/decaying on first spray but like, only a little bit and it doesnt smell disgusting. Settles rapidly into a very smooth spiced leather. I found this a very masculine scent. Loved it on my BF but only after a few hours.. it was more mellow on my skin. Genuinely smells like a real processed hide.

To my nose, I get LEATHER! Smacked in the face with LEATHER! I like it, but be careful with it. It reminds me of when I break in a new pair of leather roper gloves at work. I'm struggling to break down the nuances behind the leather, but it is very smooth. There defintely is a subtle complexity hidden beneath the LEATHER! Though.

Got this in the commodity 15 peice storybook set. Ill be honest I would not buy this; but I still cant "dislike" it. Opens with very heavy stinky dirty leather. Then lightens just a bit into woody tobacco and fineshes in 7 hours with benzoin. If you LOVE intense leather this could be your thing ⛤⛤

Smells like a church, which is probably due to the myrrh note. Hated it at first but as I smelled it I started to appreciate it more. I wouldn't consider it wearable for me, but its not awful.

man.. i think this smells like clay. i hear women tend to not like leather scents too so lol. i may be just unable to smell very well after getting covid 2 weeks ago

This isn't your typical kind of leather. It's not a smooth creamy leather like Ombre Leather or a rich dark leather like Tuscan Leather. This one is in its own element. Commodity Leather is a very dense but but not offensive to the nose, dark, and personally mysterious. It's like a Blacksmith's leather apron thats been around flux and a forge. I've seen comments where people say it's not really a sophisticated leather, which I agree to an extent. It's more of a very commanding leather where I can see a decorated general wearing it. A scent where the silence can speak for it self. But overall it's a lovely scent. I layer it with Rain by Commodity where it lowers it down and makes it's a powdery leather more inline with a clean leather seat.

This was another $35 pick-up from TJ Maxx...dark bottle, black label, black cap. That is how Leather currently appears on Commodity's website. At first spritz, I get a strong hit of oregano, which I do not like. Fortunately, it fades out pretty fast. I get a robust, new leather at first, but as it dries down, it turns dusty and sweetish on my skin. I get the light touches of labdanum and vetiver as well. Leather has a refined quality, but still has a rough-around-the edges feel to it. Overall, I get a dark/sexy vibe from this, but I wouldn't feel out of place wearing this anytime, anywhere. At $35, this was a steal and one that I will enjoy wearing in the upcoming months.

This is NOT a sexy leather, this is neither soft leather gloves nor strict new car leather seat... Commodity leather is more of a regular shiny leather coach, that you try on in the store: like you want to give it Another chance because something is not 100% satisfactory. I would assume it would be nicer to layer it with Another scent, but on its own, Leather is quite boring. This scent does not tell me any story. Try Before you buy.

I like this. It lives up to it's name. It reminds me of a new bag plus something plant-y, woody, almost like cedar but not, slightly church incense-y but not in a bad way. It smells like a place. After a while I'm getting a lot of the myrrh and styrax, it just mostly smells like incense in a thurible being swung around an old wooden cathedral maybe decorated with christmas trees.

Dirty leather with wood and some sort of cocktail therein. Got this at Marshall's for $34.95 ! GREAT quality ingredients and nuanced enough to keep things interesting . Like the other have said "does NOT smell soft & wealthy , like a TOM FORD leather". This is hard leather.

This smells like someone who works on cars in the best way possible. like imagine you just got your car fixed and the mechanic is explaining and they just smell like vehicle and tools and whatever that smell is. just so good scratches the scent itch.

Woody dark brown leather, perfumed with a resin-patchouli blend. This is heavy, but smooth and pleasant. I am not a fan of patchouli, so I don't care for it. The myrrh note is fairly noticeable as well here, gives it a touch of sweetness.

One of the beast leather options out there. Highly addicting, extrait version needed. Smells 1 to 1 to the discontinued Dark Rebel Rider. 10/10 for the great smell that only the Rebel Rider has been able to duplicate.

LOVE!!!!! this smells like fresca soda and kalamata olives. dries down into something smooth and pleasant. this is what jacob from twilight would smell like. i can’t explain it

The drydown is full of cacao, the transition between Leather, Myrrh and Cacao is GORGEOUS. 9/10
