listen. this scent changed my life. i'd been a fan of commodity from the moment i smelled Milk+ in a sephora. i ordered the bold discovery set excited for scents Gold+ (very mature, sickly sweet; a little disappointed) and Paper+ (delicious, but not as much depth or longevity as i was hoping). i'd been considering how i'd love to experiment with more herbal/spiced fragrances; reading the Moss+ description as "a masculine-leaning citrus", i wasn't excited. but i have never been proven more wrong in my life. immediately jaw on the floor, had to stand up and walk away out of disbelief. how did they do it??? it smells like the color hunter green. the citrus only serves to balance the depth of the oakmoss and patchoulli, not to be the star of the show, which i greatly respect, and juniper berry fits so perfectly in the middle like a puzzle piece. every time i smelled the tester paper again it got better. had me moaning like a wh*re. it smells like the sexiest person you know put a fresh houseplant on the kitchen windowsill with the window open on a drizzly day. how they managed to extract this memory i've never had into this bottle is beyond me, and frankly i would not care any less. i want to bathe in this. i would sell my soul to commodity for this incredible experience. it changed the way approach citrus scents, and it's one i compare all other herbal scents to. i would DIE to experience it again for the first time again. technically it fits the spring-daytime category, but i would wear this throughout the year, any time, 24/7. Moss+, i love you more than i can say. thank you, commodity <3

dude i love this idk what the hate is about. best masculine fragrance from the line IMO and develops beautifully. Beautiful modern take on a herbal barbershop style fragrance that develops into an uplifting yet dense woody spicy scent. Something powdery about it. Sits closer to my skin personally but just enough lift to get noticed by those around you and lasts 12+hrs on me. When I say barbershop, let me clarify this does NOT smell too mature or old but definitely not for teenagers or young bachelors in your early 20s. Imagine a man who has grown up beyond the youthful sweet/blue/woody designer colognes and graduated to something less loud and more classy that still leaves an impression. You just smell like a man that has your stuff together. You got something going on and you got places to be. FYI—If the opening puts you off, give the dry down an honest review. All these scents seem to develop quite well but this one is particularly alluring. I wasn't crazy for this at first but came around from the overall wearing experience. I'll be pickin up a full bottle unless I have a change of heart and end up liking another fragrance from the line more.. from the "bold" line of scents this is my personal favorite as a 25 y/o male.

Love love love this scent. It’s unique and fresh and woodsy. It even smells a little clean. If it smelled a tad more crisp and fresh it would be perfect, that would pust it more into the unisex category rather than the masculine scent it is. It’s still a great complex woodsy scent. You get the crushed branches and juniper berry in there the most clearly. Patchouli comes through in the drydown. But even though it’s the “strongest” of the scent family the lasting power is terrible (like 2 hours max) and the silage is average, this seems to be an issue with all the Commodity fragrances.

A freshie, easy, clean scent that performs well. Perfect warm weather fragrance. To my nose, this does feel like a unique, masculine leaning fragrance that is year round friendly. I get the citrus blast up front and the more earthy oakmoss and patchouli as it dries down. Like all commodity fragrances, it also layers well. I like to layer this with TF Oud Minerale on days I want more of an aquatic vibe and have also layered it with Electimuss Perephone's Patchouli for a more grounded, earthy vibe.

It's in the vein of the million other Aventus style fragrances out there but this is darker, earthier and greener, more focused on the oakmoss and patchouli. The bergamot gives it the citrus pop in the opening but is carried throughout by the oakmoss, musk and patchouli through the life of the fragrance. Better than the oakmoss dominant Hawas Black, not nearly as powerful but I like that its different than the others. Good quality. Recommend trying at least unless you are aventus-ed out.

I fell in love with this fragrance immediately from my friend's discovery set and I keep mooching it off of him because it's not really in his taste. This is such an appealing, fresh yet really deep and aromatic scent. The citrusy note in this one compared to the other moss variants is perfectly subtle but just refreshing enough. This is what i want every summer day to smell like. I'm getting my hands on a full bottle some day TRUST.

I LOVE this scent. It leans a bit more masculine than I typically prefer, but I could see layering it with a simple floral scent to balance it out and bring it back to unisex. What I did instead, however, was give it to my partner - and he loves it! It's earthy, it's fresh, it's bright - reminds me of foggy walks in the forests of the Northeast. It's definitely more cologne than earthy, but it still smells amazing.

smells like Irish Springs bodywash mixed with men's Brut aftershave. fresh, clean, safe, inoffensive fragrance. it's definitely on the masculine side so i don't find it particularly unisex, but i say wear whatever you like. can easily be layered to soften it up a bit but on its own it gives barbershoppy vibes to me.

Reminds me of CK Obsession. Not saying it’s the same, but that’s what it reminds me of. I absolutely adore this. Warm, spicy, fresh and mildly sweet. This pleased me with addictive wafts for 10 hours. I love it on its own, and also layered with Rebecca Minkoff’s namesake fragrance mist. Pure love.

Fresh from the bottle it has a lot of green notes but on my skin it dries down to musk and juniper with just a little of the patchouli. I wish it lasted a bit longer though. I sprayed it before going out and it's basically gone after 3 hours. I can smell it only where I applied it to my skin.

It’s hard to put my finger on what I love about this scent, as it smells very unique. It smells earthy, mossy, but not in an unpleasant way. It smells more masculine than unisex, but not inappropriate for women to wear (not that I care). Very nice!

Wore it for my outdoor wedding, height of summed, but maybe it's more of an autumn. Not overly complex. I don't know all the fragrance words.

All the good reviews are right. Stuff is amazing. Would be great on a man, but I love it on me. Layered this with Milk Bold. Holy smokes.

Given how Commodity is doing the whole personal (-), expressive, and bold (+) thing, it makes sense to compare them side by side and provide one review for all three. While I prefer to test blind it's hard not to notice the names, but I haven't looked up the suggested notes or read any of their literature. With MOSS the expectation is green and earthy. I find all three to have less of an earthy feel, and more or a damp green plant feel with a bit of morning dew coolness. Minus opens up more sweet and citrusy, with a mild coolness. The expressive has an element of citrusy but not as bright with a tinge of herbaceousness. And the plus shifts to an ambery opening with a hint of wood. All three are lovely and the green element is like a fresh tea leaf. This makes me think of bright green moss in the morning, where water droplets coat the vegetation. Moving through them in sequence you do very much get the sense of approaching, walking into, and walking deeper into a moist forest. Looking at the notes now the bergamot in the minus stands out the most with the green laying underneath. For the expressive, it is the orange blossom and eucalyptus that add some nice layering that is not (as) present in the minus and plus. Similarity, woodsy tones are added but they are not obvious. The plus clearly adds a resinous bass, a bit more wood, but stays within its roots. The oakmoss is clearly the scent keeping all three tied together. Their overall effect providing a more clean and fresh damp forest vibe that is pleasant and unisex. You could argue the plus begins to lean a bit masculine, but only such. The longevity was ok. Not bad but not as expected. Only plus hung around a bit longer. As much as I like MOSS, I can't decide if I just like the fragrance for myself or just want to smell it around me or where I live.

Each Commodity scent exists in three iterations, depending on sillage, denoted by minus and plus symbols, with the medium version having no demarcation. I have a discovery set of six Commodity perfumes, all distinct scents, so I cannot compare the different versions. Moss+ is my first "bold" Commodity scent to try, though I genuinely don't find much difference in sillage between the various scents from each category I've tried. I was particularly keen to try Moss+, being a lover of chypres and a good oakmoss note. It is one of the better Commodities, though is more masculine than I expected. Moss+ is an aromatic, fresh scent, mossy, woody and herbal throughout. It opens with a bright, refreshing juniper note, evocative of a G&T on a hot day, with the mossy base slowly developing in the background from the early stages. The oakmoss note is synthetic, like evernyl or similar, but is still pleasant and effective in giving a mossy effect. The petitgrain follows, adding its distinctive green woodiness, and there is a citrus quality up top as well thanks to the bergamot. Some patchouli emerges as it develops, adding to the mossiness, a predictable but pleasant inclusion. It remains earthy, woody and aromatic throughout, with soft, clean musk blurring the edges as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a masculine-leaning scent, somewhat fougère-like, and is a transeasonal daytime scent. A simple, pleasant aromatic masculine scent, Moss+ is nicely-composed and well-blended, an easy reach for everyday use. It is made with synthetic materials, as is the case with Commodity in general, but Moss+ is one of the better Commodities. 3.5/5.

It's striking how dramatically different this smells when compared to the original, "Expressive", Moss by Commodity. In this version of Moss, there has been an addition of patchouli and juniper berries which takes fragrance in a slightly darker direction. The opening is very juniper berry forward. But an earthy juniper berry backed with the patchouli. After the initial burst of juniper, the bergamot starts to pick up and smell more like the Expressive version of Moss. As it dries down it takes on a robust woody aroma from the oakmoss. I have seen a comparison to Aventus on here. In the opening, this is nothing like Aventus. But in the dry down, the combination of citrus with oakmoss does lend itself to being in the same family as Aventus so I can see why the similar is being drawn. That said, they are worlds apart and have completely different scents. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I can see this being worn in both a casual and semi-formal situation. While I think this could smell great just running errands throughout the day, it could also work well at the office or for a romantic dinner with a loved one. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it is so different than what I was expecting from the Expressive Moss version as a slightly darker and woodier take. I'm definitely enjoying it and can't wait to give it a couple of wears this spring/summer to see if my thoughts change on it.

I *think* this may actually be my favourite of the Moss trilogy. I just love the juniper, and the fact that it’s so refreshingly green without leaning too dirty or earthy. To me, this scent is literally a breath of fresh air. In the initial spray I get eucalyptus really clearly, which adds a cooling cleanness to the underlying musk and patchouli. After a few minutes there’s lots of oakmoss and petitgrain, and I even get hints of bergamot which I couldn’t really find in either the personal or the expresssive. It’s a fresh, bright, citrusy wonder, and does feel reminiscent of its namesake. Although neither the personal nor the expressive are particularly feminine (the expressive has the most floral undertone of the three in my opinion), I would say this is the most masculine-leaning of the three. It’s still undeniably sexy on a woman, though, and by no means difficult to pull off. It also has the best projection and longevity of the three. Moss+ is a beautifully aromatic scent, and perfect for a day when a fresher scent is just the ticket. I’m considering adding a bottle to my collection now that my sample is almost gone.

Testing Moss + from a Commodity 2 ml official sample... I normally find oakmoss very masculine smelling in perfumes and I am not the biggest fan of it, but in Moss + is different and surprisingly, I really love this oakmoss forward fragrance. The blend of oakmoss with lemon juice, juniper berries, petit grain and patchouli offers the perfect balance of freshness, citruses, greenesss and earthyness. It’s not a damp, wet patchouli and oakmoss combo centred perfume, but a clean, crisp, fresh spicy, slightly resinous one. The juniper berries have a strong presence and make Oakmoss + very likeable and appealing to my nose. I would categorise Moss + as a unisex fragrance and I would use it, if I would have it gifted. But I wouldn’t buy it for myself because it’s quite pricey, I don’t like the overly simplistic aesthetic of the bottles and the performance is not that great. Moderate at best with minimal sillage on skin.

Honestly, I get Montblanc Explorer light out of this. Not as masculine leaning as Explorer but, it still hints towards the masculine side. Very clean & crisp with a nice green undertone that lingers during the life of the fragrance. It does carry a slightly sweeter vibe from the start and not as astringent as Explorer is in the opening. This is really well done as it isn't very strong yet it has enough to radiate off of my skin for about 90 minutes then becoming a skin scent that lasts for 6-7 hours. A subtle sweetness with a soft muskiness that is calming and quite comfortable. As I said, on my skin it leans a bit masculine but, not too much so that a woman can't wear this and do it quite easily and comfortably. Clean and crisp is universal for both sexes and Moss+ Bold is just that.

Bold, green, heavy on the oakmoss and petitgrain on me. Reminds me exactly of the types of colognes my father used to wear when I was a little girl. Because of this, I find this scent to be very masculine leaning and personally very comforting, fatherly, but it could also be *very* sexy on a masculine/androgynous woman. The Moss and Moss- scents are more feminine, but equally as sophisticated and earthy-green as Moss+. I don't get the juniper berry notes, but perhaps that's just me. Lovely, clean, earthy scent that I might just have to buy for my father as a gift. Could make a nice, modern update to his collection of 30+ year old fragrances...

I quite like this scent. It's earthy and fresh and I've worn it several times now without getting tired of it. The smell is unique but not something I could imagine a layperson having issues with. I think it would be perfect as an outdoor scent, maybe to a farmer's market or a botanical garden. I will say, though, that the longevity is not great on me— about 3 hours. I don't really mind since I like having the option to change my scent, and I can always reapply, but I know to some people that's important.

I like it! In the beginning it’s VERY photorealistic mossy green, wet forest, after about half an hour the juniper berry rlly comes through and it turns into more of a peppery woodsy scent. It has this really nice depth to it. Definitely more of a masculine scent, but would be very intriguing on a woman. Ugh wear what you want it smells good. But yeah dries down to a slightly spicy wood which I love. The wetness of the oakmoss definitely dissipates after about an hour

Opens with a bright and dewy green scent. Absolutely gives me Pacific Northwest vibes. Almost soapy on the initial spray, definitely hits the classic chypre men's cologne genre, but still unisex. Very appealing. Dries down to a more subdued woody/green scent, with less brightness/freshness, and the juniper berries come out to play. Abstractly, this scent gives me, tall handsome man wearing a cable-knit sweater in a temperate rainforest.

I don't have much to add as others have done a good job describing this.one. Opening is bright citrus and prominent petigrain followed by some earthiness. It starts off really strong but loses a lot of steam in 15 minutes and remains a skin scent. I like this one and I'd consider a bottle around around 40% of retail. Scent 7.5/10 Performance 5/10 (longevity isn't bad but poor projection after 30 minutes)

Definitely fresh and green! Could be mistaken for some sort of toilet cleaner to begin with if you're sensitive to pine-like frags, but give it chance to settle as it becomes quite mellow after an hour-ish. Dry down -Mainly masculine feeling frag, hints of bergamot, patchouli and musk. Does have vibes of a forest in the rain. Smells nice on me and even better on my BF

I LOVE this opening- fresh, green, and dewy. Like walking through a damp forest after a rainy night. Is it incredibly unique? No. Is it appealing and sexy? Yes. I think I would enjoy this more on a partner than on myself. If I smelled this on a man, I would absolutely swoon. I’m curious to see how this compares to the expressive version.

Definitely a masculine-leaning fragrance. I tested my sample and really enjoy the fresh, green, citrus with some patchouli depth. But I want to give my sample to a guy friend. This would be lovely in spring and summer and would work well for the office, I'm sure. Sexy, but definitely more masculine leaning for my taste.

This has a really interesting berry opening, and a trail that reminds me of cologne. It has a “come hither” aura to it that’s really interesting. It’s quite masculine, but kind of reminds me of Aventus. It’s somehow both aromatic and warm? And almost a little sweet? Fascinating. I want my boyfriend to wear this.

I was excited to try this one as I have really been intrigued by green and chypre scents recently. I was in love with this one on paper and on my skin. Its green, dewy, earthy, and a little woodsy. Definitely one I will be adding to my collection!

Very foresty smell. The scent of pine is enhanced by the less dominant bergamot. This is more of the fresh and green scents of forest - it’s not really a woody forest smell. Makes me feel like I’m in the fresh air of the mountains.

Fresh and clean, perfect for a man. Office compatible. Oakmoss is the star of the perfume. Green and aromatic, it is very well done.

In a fan of Moss expressive but the bold version gives me toilet refresher. I think it’s the juniper berry and its pine like scent

So i tried this at the store. One spray on wrist 2 on neck. Smells great but 170.00 and only lasted a few hours.

I have the full exploration kit, which consists of three scent spaces for each of the six fragrances. I'm writing my first review for Moss+ as it is (currently) my most preferred fragrance out of the 18 sample vials. First, I want to note that I've had this set for a while and had to revisit the entire line several times. I hated every single sample when I trialed them first upon receipt. In fact, I was so repelled and disgusted that I thought I had a bad batch or something was wrong with my nose. I'm still not in love with any of them yet, but the fragrances have become more tolerable as they've matured for a while in my closet. With that out of the way - This bold version of Moss is the ONLY one that smells like "moss." The other two scent spaces are pleasant citrus fragrances with hints of woody notes and are not unique in any way. In fact, the personal and expressive versions are very similar to each other in that they are very citrus heavy, smell green (but not mossy enough), and have poor longevity as with most citrus heavy fragrances. The expressive version projects a little better. As a HUGE lover of cyphre fragrances with juniper berry, I knew this was going to be my favourite one. The oak moss is not too strong but is definitely the most dominant note. The patchouli is a bight green one, not the heavy/dirty kind. Personally, I would prefer more oak moss (within regulatory limits of course) and a stronger punch from the juniper berry. I think a higher dose of naturals vs synthetics would have made the entire line more "niche" and interesting, especially for a fragrance called "Moss." It's a nice enough fragrance but not full bottle worthy for me.

Moss+ is my first dive in to Commodity and I've got mixed feelings on it. When I was younger I preferred fragrances marketed to men. Bright, green, spiciness was more alluring and fresh feeling compared to more sugar sweet florals that were advertised to women. I’ve since broadened my horizons and a lot of these citrus heavy “woodsy” scents for men feel Axe adjacent. Moss+ doesn’t induce the Axe headache or suffocate any scent within a five mile radius, except apparently the very body odor they’re wielded against, quite like the body spray does. But it has the same roots. Same foundations. Patchouli, ripe zesty citrus, a damp juniper base. It’s a rich kids Axe I suppose. Maybe that’s a bit harsh but when there are so many great fresh, woody, green fragrances out there it’s hard to compete. And at it’s price point I’d never go for a full bottle. Though I’ll admit I have reached for it when I’m lacking a preferred fresh and bright summer scent. Not terrible, not a go to.

Moss+ comes across to me as more of a quasi-marine, cold, mineralic scent profile than a "authentic, earthy, dewy forest aroma" profile promised in one of the AI "pros". I wasn't expecting that. Maybe this is more Baltic sea lichen-covered coastal rock than moss-covered forest floor. A comparison to Every Storm a Serenade by Imaginary Storm comes to mind, maybe with the slightest addition of the sea salt of Heeley's Sel Marin. This is not among my favorite uses of oakmoss. I'll take the oakmoss of vintage masculine fougères, or a Chanel No. 19, or especially my current favorite oakmoss fragrance, Bortnikoff Moss Cologne, a sumptuous moss/citrus/frangipani scent, which I often pair with a vintage 1950 Avon cheapie with "Mossy" as its top accord, To a Wild Rose (this latter a fragrance my Grandmother wore!) Maybe Moss+ will grow on me, which it may just do.

Very green and aromatic when you first spray it, it's not so citrusy as the expressive and personal. After it dries down it just smells like a men's cologne, well a very nice one at that, but I don't really get moss from it, in fact I don't smell moss in any of the versions. Smells more masculine than I thought, but it's nice, I can't complain, I just wouldn't wear it. Edit: after smelling this on my boyfriend I really really like it. Will probably get a bottle for him.

The patchouli here is heavy to my nose and this leans quite masculine as well. It smells literally like dirt and moss - like you’ve just dug your fingers in the wet ground and brought a big damp pile of soil to your face. The bergamot gives it a brightness that keeps it from being too dirty, but this is one of the earthiest fragrances I’ve smelled so far. Dries to a pleasant citrusy musk. This one is just okay for me - I much prefer Moss (-). 6.5/10

Breakdown of notes (as I am writing this) is different on the company's website so will go with what is there not here. Opening is sweeter that in the Expressive version and less grapefruit leaning. There is more citrusy sweetness in the opening. It's still green and earthy though. Moss Bold is more mossy to me than Expressive version is. Because of patchouli in a base, it is a pinch more on a masculine side but I still would wear it myself.

I got moss + in a sample set and while I don’t think the scent is bad, it never fails to give me a headache. I love a good forest earthy scent but the initial blast of this hits me in the face like no other. I also love a good unisex scent sometimes. I would potentially like to take a step down and smell the expressive one and maybe not the bold (+) one.

By far my favorite of the Moss fragrances from Commodity, I don't like either of the expressive or personal so the fact that I actually don't mind wearing this was a complete surprise. Still not for me though. It's earthier och more woody, but still a fresh perfume that evokes the feeling of being outdoors.

lovely initial cloud (I basked in it) but the bergamot & other fresh notes fade fast into something reminiscent of whatever products they use to clean the petco on union square (unbaskable, ridiculous sillage at this point), wears down into the scent of soapy male (not into it)

This one is really a masculine perfume. I’m a woman very much into unisex scents but this one I couldn’t wear easily. I would enjoy it in my boyfriend, though. It’s a dark moss, sexy but somehow also trivial. Middle projection and sillage.
