Paper +

Wow, I love this scent! I already loved Paper-, but it disappeared too quickly. This one is better but I wish first 20mins would last for hours. Although it is Bold, the projection is weak and it stays very close to skin. But it has this intimate, molecular character so I think it shouldn't be very loud. Can't really detect individual notes, I think it's the first time for me to try Iso E Super note, but I love it. It has something similar to Orris Tattoo, or maybe it is just this molecular thing that bolds my skin scent. Cannot imagine someone would find this repulsive.

I love this. Wasn't a fan of Paper or Paper-. They're both very sharp and cologne-y. But Paper+ has an ambery warmth that makes it very soothing. It's still a dry woods fragrance, but it doesn't have that off putting sharpness of the other Papers. Commodity just raised their prices, so this is now $145. Considering how weak of a fragrance it is (especially for the bold line), I think it's overpriced. But I do love it. It's a perfect easy summer reach for me, because it's so light and simple.

i found the travel spray at tj maxx and was so excited! i have to say this might be my new favorite. it is the perfect day to day perfume, smelling like fresh clean skin with a slight spicy aspect? i can smell this on my skin all day and on my clothes the next day. it’s subtle and not overpowering. i get headaches from strong perfumes but i like them to last. this is the perfect darker take on a clean scent.

This still has weak sillage for being their bold version, but moderates within arms length. I really enjoy this scent. It transports me to a rainy hike I did in Olympic national park - mossy, wet, woody, fresh... It’s comforting and clean. Like others said for the price point I’m okay with having to spray a bit more for good sillage. If you like a closer perfume it’s perfect.

Beautiful woody cozy wintery warm scent with a little freshness peeking through. It has the sort of je ne sais quoi of a molecular scent. You have to spray a lot though, and it doesn't smell very strong on clothes. But for the price point, I don't mind having to use a lot. Very calming and natural smelling but the wood still comes through. Im not sure I get much vetiver

I love this fragrance. It’s woody and so soothing. I got told though by an employee that her grandmother would love it and then another employee said it smells like a church lady. 🤷🏻♀️ That was disappointing considering I really do love it but who cares I’m still going to wear it!

I find the Personal and Expressive versions of Paper to be pretty underwhelming. This one, I love though and reach for often. It's ISO E Super with a warm edge, and I would venture to say some iris as well. Woody, cedary with a sheer warmth and even a hint of sweet chalkiness.

Paper+ is a really pleasant creamy woody molecular scent for daily wear. I prefer this to the expressive version which I found frustratingly light wearing. The performance is better here. I like it!

I adore this. Perfect when layered with Milk+. So comforting. 😍

Iso E Super Cedarwood Sandalwood Vetiver

There's no amber in this blend.

This one smells just like a gentle, warm breeze in a pine forest in summer. The scent is molecular, woody, dry, soft and mild, and stays close to the skin. Paper + would be great perfume for layering; I imagine that it would add nice depth and woodiness to, for example, vanilla fragrances. The scent doesn't undergo significant development on the skin, but remains quite linear, gradually becoming perhaps a touch sweeter. This is a perfect "dumb-reach" perfume: it’s suitable for all situations and weather conditions, unlikely to irritate even sensitive noses. This is the first Commodity I've tried and based on this, I'm curious to try their other offerings. The downside is that the scent doesn't linger on the skin for very long. In two hours, it’s gone. If this is "bold", I wonder how weak the expressive and personal versions are.

I bought a discovery set from Commodity with all the bold versions, and Paper was the only one I liked. It's one of those molecule fragrances, in the same vein as Le Labo Another 13, JHAG Not a Perfume or pretty much everything from Escentric Molecules. Paper+ is a little more interesting though. It's a your-skin-but-better-scent, but it's not just Iso E Super, it has an ambery warmth to it that none of the other molecule fragrances have, at least on my skin. It’s warm, clean and smooth. Usually Iso E Super is extremely loud and overpowers everything else, but here it's been dialed down and just adds a woody touch to the fragrance. Paper+ is completely unisex. Can be worn alone or as a base to add some depth to lighter fragrances. So far Paper+ is my favorite molecule fragrance. 8.5/10.

I like it.. when I can smell it. Opens with a crisp clean paper like scent, creamy and a little sweet like sun kissed skin in a pleasant way. Slightly synthetic while still smelling natural. Then it basically went away. 2 sprays and I was convinced this was a rip off. My wife came home and immediately asked what that smell was. I had almost forgotten I was wearing something so I didn’t think anything of it.. but she asked again hours later. She was smelling it over 6 feet away. She explained it as a pleasant unique woody scent, but was strong to her nose. ISO E super is known for being difficult to detect. It comes and goes, but I go anosmic to this fragrance quickly. To my nose it has a mild projection, may be loud to others. Hope this helps.

This is the ISO bomb of the set. I blew hot and cold on this and changed my mind several times whilst trying - I never hated it though just more not sure if its really worth having in the line up. Its a lovely musk skin scent and the first time I tried it I LOVED (my notes just say 'WOW they described this perfectly on the website' because I smelled EXACTLY what they said I would) it but the second time not so much, and the third time it was just OK. It could be the vetiver - having recently tried Fat Electrician and being unable to decide if I like it or if it repulses me lmao. Did get compliments from others and I need to try it a few more times to decide for sure I think!

Very similar to Paper expressive, but sweeter and with more of an ambery warmth. Feels like it would be a great complement to a lot of vanilla perfumes. I personally prefer Paper expressive because it comes off slightly cleaner to my nose, but this one is nice also and stands out from other “your skin but better” scents because of its additional warmth. This version projects really well (as you might expect given it’s the bold version) and lasts all day. It’s an easy one to reach for; suitable for all weathers, seasons, situations, and genders. Whilst it’s noticeable, it’s also not so overpowering that it’s likely to offend anyone. In my view, an easy scent to love.

Was totally expecting more from this version of Paper considering it’s the bold one, but I thought it was even more undetectable than Paper (-) (Which I love by the way - my favorite out of the three versions). This is a very soft, dry Vetiver/Sandalwood combo and a little bit of Iso-E. Generally comforting and cozy, but boring. There are much better perfumes in this category, so I’d recommend sampling around before spending the money on Paper (+). It just doesn’t last at all and you can barely smell it. I recommend Milky Musk from Parle Moi if you’re a Sandalwood lover. 5/10

This is a really unique scent. I’d say it leans a little masculine, but it’s definitely unisex. It kind of reminds me of spicy wood—like warm spices mixed with freshly-sawed pale wood. Honestly, it smells a bit like the lumber section at Home Depot, but in a good way. There’s also a slight sweetness that keeps it from being too dry or sharp. It’s clean, woody, and just a little cozy. Makes me smell like a lumberjack... in a nice way.

on my skin, this comes across very clean. i get all the Iso E Super and a hint of supporting vetiver. leans masculine ever so slightly. but there is a freshness to it that i can’t place on any of the notes listed. maybe some sweet sandalwood? it’s lovely, but hard to describe. regardless, i love it more than i thought i would. not a fantastic performer, more of an understated scent, very skin-scent.

Paper+ starts off smelling like a ream of printer paper and then morphs into dryer sheets with an ISO-e woody base. This would definitely be for those who prefer intimate/skin scents. There's no whoa factor for me here.. it's simply pleasant and underwhelming. I suppose I wasn't really expecting a fragrance named Paper to blow my socks off anyway, so... touché, Commodity.

Picked up at Marshalls. Very satisfied - does smell like the brown paper towels found in a restroom but a bit sweeter. Nice office/work scent. Lasts quite a bit on me up to 8 hours, when i get home i have to sniff my wrist and i can still faintly smell it. Projection is mid. Need to try the personal and expressive versions.

it sorta reminds me of laundry detergent but that's probably coming from the iso e super. it's soft, it's cozy, very inoffensive, a touch of floral, little bit of a dry smell coming from the sandalwood. it's overall great. you could layer this with something like ginger or tea notes, it would compliment it so well.

Mixed messages with this one. I smell it as a dry, musty library book on myself. It feels a touch masculine and comforting. I get the sandalwood and the woody notes. On the other hand, everyone who smells it on my skin says it is a warm brown sugar, milky and sweet. Very interesting.

I enjoy this soft, musky, creamy sandalwood. 8 sprays on this morning and it's still a skin scent before lunch. Pity because it's really pleasant. I cannot fathom how this is considered Bold. But maybe Paper Bold was always an oxymoron.

very fresh and true to the name. it really captures paper with authenticity. gentle, sweet, crisp, and light. i think this would layer gorgeously with vanilla or gourmand sort of scent. i look forward to trying it.

I did not think I would enjoy this but I actually do! It’s a nice woodsy scent that pulls warm on my skin. Definitely one you have to try on skin to know if it’s for you.

nice for an everyday wear for men or women. it makes me think of a man's sweater. comforting and cozy and not overpowering. like a nice warm hug would smell

Year-round light and simple wood and florals. I don't perceive the uniqueness, complexity, or book evocations others mention. It's nice though. Overpriced.

for a bold fragrance i'm getting very little. a soft cloud and not much else. i enjoy the fragrance, a little perplexed at what the house defines as bold

sweet, warm, creamy, woody. i didn’t like any of the other paper scents, but this one is delightful and imo very comforting.

Given how Commodity is doing the whole personal (-), expressive, and bold (+) thing, it makes sense to compare them side by side and provide one review for all three. While I prefer to test blind it's hard not to notice the names, but I haven't looked up the suggested notes or read any of their literature. With PAPER the expectation is clean and maybe starchy? Or processed? I'm not sure. Regardless, I find all three to have a slight musky amber inkinesss opening with a bit of floral tone. Minus opens up more sweet and almost gourmand-like with a tad of tang at the top. The expressive dries down quickly and I get a whiff of vetiver laying underneath. While the plus has an ambery opening with a touch of gourmand sweetness, even with a sense of vanilla. A bit later they all have a similar gourmand sweetness to them, the plus more deeper. Hours later it is much the same. The inkiness in the opening is long gone and the paper light gourmand-like caramel-vanilla musk moves ever so slightly deeper as one moves from minus to the plus. Looking at the notes now, the "ISO E Super" (woody cozy ambery musky note) seems to be the dominant note throughout all. I'm a little surprised this is all woodsy notes as none of them come across as a categorically intense woodsy fragrance. More surprising is that vetiver doesn't appear in the expressive notes where it stuck out to me the most. Overall, they are ok. Nothing off-putting about them, but they somewhat smell like generic scented candles. To me there's a soft gourmand-amber-vanilla that even for the plus doesn't capture much in my imagination. Longevity is fine, the expressive being the shortest lasting. Sillage seems more moderate far all, even the plus.

a very simple formula of ISO E Super and woody notes. This is fantastic as a base for layering (especially with Gold) or after a campfire to mix with the smoky smell. It could also be a good pick in minimal fragrance settings like offices. or when travelling to countries where lighter fragrance is the norm. However, this is not a great scent on its own as it can be easily overpowered by just the ambient scent in a room. The longevity is fine and it smells quite nice, but the sillage sits closer than anything else, even single-molecule ISO E Super.

The breakdown of notes is different of the company's website so will go with what is there not listed above. On a tester strip the opening felt sweeter and less woody, got more vetiver. It also felt lighter and greener than Expressive version (Expressive was strong on Iso E Super). Then I got a bit of cashmran. So overall bold version is a pinch greener but still woody. On my skin it ended-up being more woody so there was a difference between a tester strip and my skin.

This is stronger than the expressive version yet softer than the personal version. I do think this has less of a chemical/lacquer like opening and somewhat of a sweet undertone somewhere underneath the woods. It is not a photo realistic paper fragrance. It also lacks longevity and for the bold version, in performs pretty poorly. Still an intriguing smell, I think it's one for a specific kind of taste. I do prefer it just a bit more than the expressive version.

I liked this fragrance, It's quite an accurate representation of the recomforting smell of a dusty old book sitting in an antique wood bookshelf, albeit without much muskiness. It's an easy to wear smell that I think anyone can enjoy but that still maintains a certain class and depth. My issue is that this scent is not "bold" at all, you have to glue your nose to the skin to be able to smell it, and it evaporates rather fast. Sillage was non-existent.

Strong Iso Super E with a little bit sandalwood - like pencil shavings. Within 2 hours it was almost gone on me. It's an wet and cool autumn day, when you expect perfumes to last longer than usual. Overall I think Commodity perfumes are overpriced for their quality. I got the big exploration set with all 18 of them. That's quite a waste, but I'm glad I don't have to waste any more money on the brand.

This is my favourite of the paper style from commodity, still by no means would I be inclined to buy a full bottle. The + feels like a little bit more of a clean, soapy take on the other two, which I think means a little sweeter. Again, would not buy a full bottle, projection is virtually zero on my skin and I believe there are many other houses that do this scent profile far better.

Paper+ was not what I expected. I thought it would be woody, and clean, like a crisp white printer paper:D but I find it sweet and warm.I even sense some faint oud and amber which are not listed at all. In all fairness, it's quite unique to the typical sweet woodsy scents ,but isn't full bottle worthy for me.

it's a very faint fragrance. it's a whisper of vetiver and cedar, a very skin-like scent, which might appeal to some people. very different to the rest of the Bold line. it's clean-smelling and woodsy. i adore Paper - , but Paper + and Paper don't have that cozy & comforting synthetic note.

I found this very similar to the expressive version - the wood aspect is slightly stronger and I get a hint of that dill from the sandalwood. I wouldn't call this "bold", it sits very close to the skin. The longevity is good though, but the same goes for the other versions of this scent.

Not big on this one. It could potentially be down to my skin chemistry as I can’t see anyone else noting this but it smells very car interior & masculine to me. I prefer the softer scent spaces of Paper (a rarity as I prefer a stronger fragrance)

Thankfully this one does not have the alcohol smell that the other two have, when I first sprayed it I still wasn’t very impressed though, but later when it dried down and I caught whiffs of it when moving my arm it did smell nice.

This is almost, but not quite, what I was looking for in a paper scent! Odd, woody, slightly off putting, inky. This smells like an old catalogue. It’s so strange.

Impressively transportive, like flipping through a big old dictionary with those thin brown pages.

THIS is Paper +? Plus what? AIR?! Why does Paper- have better projection? Man...

This one is, by far, the best out of the 3 paper scents.

I picked this sample up and it unfortunately does not resonate with me. While understanding that this is the most “expressive”/strong rendition of this scent, it still just ended up being too much on my skin. The scent itself is not bad, I could see myself complimenting someone else on this. It is a generally unisex fragrance that I would argue leans slightly masculine. Simply not for me, will be donating to my local shelter.

on the tester strip this was way softer, but the vetiver just like completely disappeared on my skin. as time went on this became a little sawdusty. i was expecting this to be comforting, but it’s just not and it’s too sharp. this is also too masculine for me personally. overall it’s just meh, not repulsive, but not pleasant. it’s only slightly better on skin.
