Rain

I’ve been obsessed with this fragrance since its first launch years ago. It is so unique, I really haven’t ever smelled anything like it. It smells like a warm spring meadow on a rainy afternoon. Green, fresh, floral, and aquatic. Definitely some green earthy notes but enough florals to lighten it up and keep it from smelling too musky. After it settles on my skin for 5-10 minutes I get sweet, dewy lotus and subtle but warm and spicy vetiver. To me its a bit on the sweet/floral side to be unisex, but the woody and vetiver notes anchor the scent and keep it from being a strictly female scent. Overall, one of my all time favorite scents. I was thrilled to get my hands on it again after the recent return of Commodity. The formula seems only to have improved, however it seems perhaps a tad less sweet than the original.

A magical, idealised summer shower in a garden in absolute full flower. I like the citrus accord in the opening, it gives the “rain” a fresh and cool aspect. The florals are lovely but at first a little too strong for my tastes. I don’t initially detect as much of the aquatic element as I’d hoped for, because for me it’s slightly overpowered by the florals. Further into the dry down the flowers start to back off and the aquatic accord has the space to come through more clearly, this is where the fragrance really shines. I love this stage, it’s quite beautiful and uplifting, this is rain made more fantasy than reality. Projection is good, longevity is moderate. My initial gripes about the opening aside, it’s a delightfully dreamy composition, one of my favourites from the line.

This is amazing! I tried it through the Archives Collection discovery set, and now I need a full bottle ASAP. It’s fresh, aquatic, aromatic, and so incredibly refreshing. I love anything with lotus and bergamot, and this hits all the right notes for me. It brings to mind that old saying: “April showers bring May flowers.” That’s exactly the vibe here. Think raindrops delicately resting on flower petals not a damp, earthy petrichor scent, but a floral aquatic one. It actually reminds me a bit of Paradise Garden by JPG, with that same breezy, serene beauty.

This was a blind buy, but it ended up being absolutely beautiful. I probably wouldn't have purchased this after an initial sniff at the store - the initial scent it slightly floral, slightly lemony. I didn't get any connection to Rain. But after an hour or two of wear the fragrance transformed into something evocative and gorgeous. Its not rain on a grass lawn - its rain over a pond, with waterlilies blooming. I've never tried a scent that lingers and develops as nicely as this one does. Highly recommend

Fresh, watery and woodsy, with vetiver undertones. Just like leaves after rain and pethrichor. You get a lemon blast the first 10 seconds, then it gets jasmine and lotus with woods and green notes. Sillage is close to the skin, but is very long lasting even after a shower. Is more of a personal fragrance rather than a crowd pleaser. Smells a liiiittle like Chancel Chance eau Fraiche, but softer.

Enchanting notes fall onto the nose as the scent develops throughout the day. Think of doing laundry during a rainstorm, using a fragrant but dried-down floral soap. Very smooth, without the intense petrichor grasp of dirty soil in the air. One of my favorite from commodity, I highly recommend if you like Moss. Very personal, holds close to the skin but in the best way.

It smells like salt water and wet sand, the beach. It doesn't smell at all like rain. Even if it did it smell more like rain it is a bit heavy for a refreshing rain shower. After a few minutes the sweetness starts to take over. It also layers well. At first I hated it but as it dried I changed my mind. I would purchase a bottle.

This is my second favorite in the Commodity cocktail kit. I love it. It is very fresh and clean without smelling soapy. It does not remind me of rain because I do not get an earthy smell that I associate with rain. I love to mix this with Moss. I feel like it is the perfect morning combination.

I love Rainnnn. Good for a rainy day and a beautiful sunny morning. Makes me smell like a freshly showered man and I LOVE IT. Smells like freshly washed sexy skin. Pair with a gourmand lotion (EOS Vanilla cashmere or Pistachio) and prepare yourself for an immersive experience. <3

I get whifs of cucumber and clean cotton. There is a prominent watery jasmine that fades to a crisp yellow floral and musk scent. Last about 6 hours on me. Fresh and upplifting happy smell. I rate this allong with Tea as the best in the Commodity White collection. ⛤⛤⛤⛤

All i can say is this is EXACTLY what i needed on this gloomy snowy day! It smells like the air in Florida, fresh flowers and the ocean. I need the full size bottle of this so I can spray it on like a maniac! Seriously one of the best things I've ever smelled!

Rocked this as my daytime signature for a year or so. It’s like waking through a botanic garden on a crisp spring morning, where the flowers have just bloomed. It’s light floral, very fresh, and has somewhat of a “green” candle smell.

AMAZING SCENT!!! Clean, fresh, not overpowered but very long lasting on my skin. Finally something what isn't for the "sweet, candy trends". I love it!!! Unique and classy

Aquatic floral. Not fruity or sweet, but aromatic, aquatic, musk, and light florals. I haven’t smelled Rain by Clean, but it reminds me of an aquatic Skin.

Rain is my absolute favourite! So beautiful and light with a hint of citrus! I'm happy that Commodity is up and running again!

Sexy secure gentle beautiful lemon and flowers. So happy I found you Commodity where have you been all my life.

ETA: I think I've decided I like this. The delicious whiffs I got all night couldn't have been coming from anywhere but my arm. I don't like it so much up-close for the opening and middle (as in, my nose buried in the inside of my arm), but to my nose the aura is much sweeter. I loooove the soft drydown with no spicy notes. I was really surprised at how long-lasting it was given what a fresh clean scent it is. Definitely leaning toward adding it to my wardrobe :) I came to this because I have been on a search for years to recreate the scent of my all-time sentimental favorite, L'Occitane's Fleur de Lotus perfume oil (1996) that came in a darling little bottle. I am wild to find a nice lotus-based fragrance since then and while this doesn't remind me of it, it does have some watery and sharp clean notes to it that my beloved Precious had. Hoping I will come to love it :) ---- I don't know if I like this or not. I have this on one arm and Ouai hair spray on my hair; I keep getting these delicious whiffs and I can't tell which is which! I'm gonna give this a chance. The opening definitely has the smell of wet leaves after a rain. After that the sharp citrus takes over, but it is definitely clean through and through. I'm waiting to see how it progresses.

I second the air freshener smell. I like it but it isn't anything super unique. Smells like something that should be in a body lotion. Definately not a true petrichor scent since petrichor smells more like dirt and geosmin. I am a big realistic petrichor lover and this definitely isn't petrichor? It gives me the vibe of buying an air freshener labeled "fresh rain." It's more like a romanticized version of rain. Great scent! It smells GREAT. Likable, a safe blind buy. If you want to smell like laundry washed with Tide laundry detergent that lingers on your clothes after they're washed, this is perfect for you. To me it just isn't realistic and I am very picky about my petrichor scents haha. If you love fresh scents and want to smell like you were just doused in laundry detergent, this is for you.

Rain by Commodity ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very clean simple scent. Love to wear it. Great fresh unisex fragrance that brings a scent of Zen in your life. The top notes of bergamot and lemon verbena give a crisp aquatic feel which I love in a fragrance. The middle give some bright floral notes that make this fragrance so refreshing and calm. Lotus flowers and Freesia are a little more powerful than the light scent of Jasmine in the background. The base dries down to a musky vetvier with some woods reminding me of a meditation in the woods by a pond. Very clean and simple scent. Missing the petrochore element I want from a perfume called rain... but I like this one. Looking for some nice rain like fragrances. Nosferatu is my next try.

A clean, breezy, fresh floral. Cool and aquatic lotus is front and center, supported by soapy-fresh musk, and slightly tangy top notes, like honey-sweetened green tea. There's a bit of an ozonic element, which is possibly meant to evoke petrichor, though to me it smells more cool and mineral, like pebbles tumbled clean in a brook. If this is rain, it's a fresh countryside spring rain that comes down in a sudden cloudburst, resoaking the clean laundry you hung on the line, and making you dash in from the field where you were picking wildflowers for the table. It's certainly not statement making, but it has a pleasantly wistful quality that's nice enough.

I really like this fragrance! It's light and fresh. It does remind me of rain a bit, but I'm still searching for that perfect petrichor scent, this is definitely not that. My sample opened up with lemon verbena and zingy bergamot. I really enjoyed the initial notes, I also got a bit of the musk and woody notes. Surprisingly this didn't turn too floral on me and still hasn't, after 4 hours. I really like this scent! I have two samples I'll happily use up. I don't know yet if I'd buy a bottle, maybe if I saw one at TJ Maxx.

A fresh, aquatic, spring meadow, after the rain. There's a slight floral note under the clean rain scent, almost like you're smelling a reminder of some laundry detergent on clean clothes. It conjures up an image in my mind of clothes lines in a green garden, washing hung out just after a rain. Definitely a springtime smell. Not very strong, and very inoffensive, so would be perfect for wearing in the office or running errands during the day. Definitely a happy smell, yet relaxing.

This is a pretty, very floral-forward fragrance on me. Starts off with a blast of lemon verbena which I LOVE, but yes, does give bathroom cleaner/air freshener vibes. The citrus disappears in minutes and from there itʻs just lotus and jasmine on me. Dries down to a skin scent. Projection is nil, with moderate longevity. Lovely and easy to wear, but not a petrichor, which is what I personally prefer.

it smells so delicious idk why. it smells aquatic, sweet, floral, fruity. as a whole just reminds me of walking under blossomed trees on a rainy day. on a piece of paper i thought it smelled strong floral but on my skin it seems to have become more green, rain-like and aquatic. i definitely think this smells a bit tacky but layered with smt green smells pretty nice

Unfortunately I have a eucalyptus, rain and freesia air-freshener for the bathroom that smells quite similar to this haha (Airwick - green bottle if anyone wants to know). It really does smell like rain on fresh greenery, smell of a tropical rainforest, vague citrus hints. Gets petrichor better than MMM Replica When the rain stops but its more of a green rain smell

Kind of fell flat of what I was expecting; after trying milk and paper from commodity I was hoping for a more photorealistic rain than what I got. Still very green and refreshing, and if you go into it ignoring the name you'll probably be able to appreciate it as its own fragrance.

More floral than aquatic - a springtime garden in full bloom, the sun peeking out after a quick shower. Lemon verbena gives this a bright, citrusy floral open. Not really aquatic or green but this floral does an excellent job invoking those ideas.

Smells like a freshly washed body with some lightly applied face cream. Smelling this is quite calming, its no more than a skin scent but it makes you feel so clean and relaxed.

I don't usually go for aquatics, so I was surprised to like this! It's fresh, watery and floral and not too strong or overwhelming. Seems like a causal summer scent to me.

Definitely aquatic. Reminds me of Suaves Ocean Breeze scent and that makes me happy. I've been looking for a perfume that is reminiscent of that (nostalgic for me)

the citrus note is like lysol. after an hour or so of wear it settles nicely on my skin!!! not super unique, but would be nice to put on right after a shower

A fresh rain, not a gloomy rain. Light watery florals I can't identify. Like L'Eau Par Kenzo with less calone.

Truly uplifting almost reminds my of long walks on the South Downs in 🇬🇧 beautiful/clean /precious and calming

so this does smell a lot like air freshener. or when you walk into someone's house for the first time... i was hoping it would have a sense of freshly fallen or currently falling rain, but it just smells more like a cleaner mixed with smelling some flowers to me. there is some present orange/citrus. i can't smell any of the woody notes, and i feel like more of that would've sold the rain bit more. its soft, a mix of floral and again, air freshener/cotton/soft like. of course, its not awful, but its definitely not my type of scent. its not anything that jumps out at you and you will need to spray often and more sincw it has pretty low sillage. i feel like it could only make someone more plain, which sucks.

Lemon verbena and possibly lotus code so strongly as body wash to me that this reads way more as “I like your shampoo” than “I like your perfume”. Directly against the skin, it’s more nuanced, but what is projected out is just a nice, feminine, bath and body works type smell. There’s a note I can’t place that smells *exactly* like the old Suave rain shampoo, but it fades in less than a minute and I have no idea what it is.

SO FRESH!! The top notes smells AMAZING! one of the best openings EVER! but it quickly dries down to a soapy generic scent which i'm not a big fan of. If only it stayed like the opening the whole time, this would be the PERFECT fresh scent. Also, no sillage whatsoever, unless you put your nose right next to your skin and sniff it, you won't smell it. Very light and faint scent. More like a toilette than a perfume.

I'm not really into aquatic smells but due to the reviews and that I LOVE Commodity figured I'd give it a sample on me. It does do an AMAZING job at capturing the smell of rain and I agree it is nice on gloomy rainy days in spring. But outside of those days it isn't for me. Personally, it is not feminine enough. I don't get floral notes on my skin more citrus and airy smelling.

The green and aquatic florals are most prominent in the opening. It does give off a freshly rained vibe. The florals are the most prevalent to my nose and overall it stays pretty crisp/sharp. The drydown is more of a woody musk which I like better than the aquatic notes but it's more of a skin scent by then. This could be unisex but not really my preference.

This only smells like 'air freshener' because air fresheners come in these rainfall/rainwater scents. It's light and floral, a little soapy. Certainly a beginner perfume, nothing advanced or complex about it. But make no mistake--no one would think you smell bad for wearing this. Just clean and fresh. You won't smell like a bathroom, I promise.

Blind buy from TJMaxx a few years ago and I forgot to write a review. I get masculine lemon verbena then it settles into an aquatic & powdery finish. I feel like I've smelled it before at Bath & Body Works or something.

This is booooring to me. It gives suave body wash. So its not bad or anything, but I have several other clean scents that are more interesting or that I'm more prone to grabbing. Its just whelming is all

Purchased a sample off ebay - very dissapointed. Smells like a generic sweet, candle, boring teen scent. Definetly the least impressive commodity.

It really does feel like the rain. Not a like or a dislike. It's just an okay for me, not for me. I also just got this as a sample.

Not a bad scent, but as others have mentioned, it's not the most unique either. Soft with gentle aquatic and floral notes.

If only it lasted more than 15 minutes on my skin.... I agree that it’s reminiscent of Shi.

Smells like Germ-X hand sanitizer.

This is fine. At the end of the day it smells like every other rain scented air freshner, bathroom spray, candle, scent beads in the world. The verbena note at the beginning reads sour on me. Normally, I love verbena, but this was stinky. It very quickly dries down into the standard rain smelling product close to the skin. Like all Commodity scents this does not last long. I could smell it for about 1/2 an hour. Then I really had to stick my nose up against my wrist to find it. Overall, I am glad I got this as a sample and not a blind buy. I will use this as a room freshner.

This is a very nice scent, quite pleasant. Light, airy and sweet. Definitely more feminine than masculine despite the unisex description. I would not purchase this again though because it departs significantly from what I would consider a perfume or cologne. It smells much more like the scent you would have in a candle or room freshener.

I was not a fan of this, but I also generally dislike aquatics and tend to shy away from anything with calone notes in general with very few exceptions. Given this, I think it it's more me than the fragrance. People who like this style, seem to really enjoy this one.
