Whiskey

I found Commodity Whiskey to be a good scent; mainly a friendly aromatic with some pleasant fresh-spices, amber, musk and light-woods accords. To me it's perfectly suited for wearing at the office or formal settings in which the fragrance needs to behave and not be loud, intrusive or draw attention. Whiskey performed well in this role. That's the good news! But where's the Whiskey? While it had a somewhat interesting interplay between the aromatics, spices and amber (I really picked-up on the eucalyptus), I didn't really detect any boozy accord in this fragrance whatsoever. Okay, perhaps if I closed my eyes and told myself there was booze in this fragrance when perhaps I could convince myself it were true. But I just didn't feel the boozy tones until it because a skin-scent but, by that time, who noticed. Finally, performance was a bit disappointing in that it lasted only about 3-4 hours on my skin and sat very close to my skin after about an hour. While it didn't radiate off my skin, it did leave a detectable scent-trail for about 2-hours. Overall, there's just not enough here to warrant purchasing a full-bottle but I didn't enjoy sampling it couple times. Update: Since I am wearing this fragrance today...okay, I can see it having a malty/boozy vibe in the drydown. But it's a skin-scent at this stage so I needed to bury my face into my arm to detect it.

Reviews for this one seem to be all over the place. We all seem to get different impressions from Commodity Whiskey. So here is my take on it. The opening is a bit off putting. I get a heavy bug spray vibe from it. Luckily that does not last very lone and quickly turns to a boozy, woody, amber scent with a touch of floral and citrus. Not bad! After a few hours it becomes a very boozy scent. Reminiscent of Frapin 1697. I am not saying it smells like 1697, but I am saying that in the dry down it has the same boozy vibe that 1697 has.I don't get DH from this at all. maybe a little like Midnight in Paris. but not close enough to be considered a similar scent to my nose. Overall this is a good casual scent with moderate projection and longevity on my skin.

How have I never reviewed this? This is absolutely my favorite men's scent of the original Commodity line (I backed their launch Kickstarter and ended up sampling all 10 of their black-line masc scents). It's sweet whiskey on me (but not THAT sweet, as I tend to avoid anything sugar-y). Think more of an Old Fashioned rather than pure alcohol. There's some sugar and spice to this. Beyond the sweet boozy note, there's some amber, bergamot, cinnamon, and wood (oak?), and perhaps vanillin. This has good sillage and longevity on me, and unlike most sweet scents, doesn't get too powdery on dry-down on me. I'd say if you're going to try any from the black line of Commodity, make it Whiskey, Gin, and Book.

Spicy leather , honey sweet boozy whisky all day long, better performer than wool and paper, better projection and sillage, but not by much. Accurate whisky scent smells like single malt u spill in your shirt and smell it the next day on your shirt, just the sweetness of the spirit. Out of all the commodity goods lineup I currently own and enjoy (whisky, wool, paper) this is the only one I'd get another bottle when I'm done with my current one.

I don't get DH or MIP at all...not even close there's no powder note at all. This is a masculine boozy scent and leather but not Tuscan leather, leather jacket leather....leather coat holding a glass of whiskey and some sweet undertones but very masculine is the best picture I can paint. A must try. Commodity has a 10 pack scent for $25 shipped and if you decide to get a full Bottle of any of them, which you will you get a $15 credit. Perfect

very simple bottle with rubber cap, i made a sniff on paper and on my hands at Sephora store last month, after three hours make a try, i came back to the store and make a purchase. this one is easy to make me feel comfortable for whisky type of perfume, it was a good perfume, good longevity and good sillage, really sticky on my clothes, by far my favorite sweet woody scent in my entire collections

It's a great scent! Definitely not a whiskey smoky oak smell on me. I do get the shalimar vibe specially in the dry down. It's a great scent that stays somewhat close to the skin and does last a good 6 hours.

Great lovely smell though more like a Whiskey approximation in smell. Not typically bright like some. More like you’re smelling stale blended scotch on a dried paper coaster without the harsh bite you sometimes get. The voted note table for once seems spot on. Wood and lavender are prominent nose to skin and really this is what the smell is about. Unfortunately what I have smells quite weak and low in Sillage, so I won’t be buying a FB but I will enjoy the 10ml sample while it lasts as a personal scent. Many others simply do a better over all job like Le dandy, Speakeasy, Fumidis or Baque. Whilst I like it realistically it’s too simple and weak. Edit: Lordy, was scratching my head and finally worked it out - I thought it was familiar. It smells EXACTLY like SS Farmacia Annunziata Tobacco D’Autore except no tobacco!

This a woody oriental for men? It's a complicated scent? Goodness, No! This "Whiskey" is not whiskey, really, but the rich, resinous drydown of Shalimar, one of the most iconic, rich, unapologetic and voluptuous feminines ever produced. I love it. I'm doing a side by-side as I type this and Whiskey is good alternative to Shalimar. It's less radiant, heavier and a little less dirty. (Whiskey is sexy; Shalimar smells a little bit like sex.) Good for those days when you want to skip out on that face-powder, floral middle bit and get right to the filthy, ambery fun. (But in a clean way, because no civet...) (Ah, fragile masculinity and its resultant unnecessary gendering of objects ... How I wish you were not so delicate, and men could feel safe buying the damn Guerlain.)

L'Occitane's Eau de Cade mixed with some shaving cream.

Not my jam. Have tried all 15 of the Commodity Storybook scents and this one I rate 2/5. I find the amber and musk opening very overpowering. Dont pick up the ivy, sage or eucalyptus notes at all but cinnamon and lavender are there very faintly. Bit of a barnyard / sweaty leather opening vibe going on. I generaly love unisex, but this is too tough for the girls and too sweet for the boys - a confuser for sure. Dry down is the nicese phase, just sweet woody amber musk but nothing special for me ⛤⛤

Well, I sprayed on an entire 1 ml sample on myself and, after an hour or so, it was virtually gone. When it comes to whiskey/boozy scents, I prefer Tim McGraw Southern Blend (which has longevity about as bad but is much cheaper) and, for a more complex scent, A*Men Pure Malt. This one didn't show me anything.

Masculine, perfect for winter and fall. The lavender is what ruins it for me, though. Wonderful scent for a man or a daring woman.

A lighter version of midnight in paris , try it before you buy . I didn`t like at all .

The very first thought that came to mind after taking a whiff of "Whiskey" was gasoline, or a petrol station that had gas leaking everywhere; and I'm the sort of person who really, really, really likes the smell of gasoline. I was immediately drawn to it even though I knew it was a scent directed more towards males. I really thought "gasoline" or "petroleum" would be listed as one of the scents, but alas to my disappointment there is no such ingredient. There is absolutely no trace of lavender or any citrus traces on my skin. Instead, the amber, oak and musk take centre stage. Smoke and leather also make an appearance every whiff and again. I will have to agree with @GodKing that "Whiskey" sits very close to the skin and longevity for this scent is fairly lacking which is just sad, really. My love for this scent outweighs all the cons though, and repurchase this I will, once I have run out of it.

I just recently acquired this scent and at first I was not sure what to think. Now I have given it several wears, I have realized what a brilliant masterpiece this is. It is a cedar wood bomb with a slight booziness in the background. It projects & lasts for hours on my skin. Imagine walking into a cedar closet in an old mansion house, but something makes you not want to leave the closet because it smells so good. This is it. I shall be using this for evening wear on special occasions. I will never run out of this juice as I have purchased a 2nd backup bottle. Commodity have now gone out of business, so this juice is going to become very rare.

I love the heady sweetness of this. Doesn't remind me of whisky - maybe reminds me more of a caricature of rum. The amber notes provide a great background for a sweetness that would have otherwise been possibly a bit saccharine. For those complaining about the duration, I'd say keep this away from pulse points, as it will come on too strong at first and leave too soon. A spray on the chest, catching some of your shirt will make this last quite awhile and have a pretty good projection. Also nobody here seems to like it for summer but I'd say it works fine in hotter weather.

There is an aldehydic type quality in this one that just ruins it for me (sort of like burned metal). I did detect something boozy, however, because I have Pure Malt and other fragrances along these lines, there's no reason for me to give this a second thought. However, there do seem to be some nice things underneath this "synthetic" quality, so I can understand how some might like it (but it's not like this quality dissipates quickly, which would have been okay by me). Definitely a "try before you buy" scent, IMO.

Ilove this fragrance and I am a niche locer.I have a lot of bottles and I think this fits in nicely. I don't think that people give this one a chance. Is a beautiful fragrance in its on right. Perfect for a laid back afternoon or casual date night! It will not give you the wow factor, but I already have plenty of them. All the notes are subtle to the point where you can't detect notes like the Citrus or amber up front but somehow you feel that they are there. This is a perfect addition to my collection!

Ehhh. It's okay. It has something in it that reminds me of Nirvana Black. Close to the nose it's.... not good, but then you get away from it and you're kind of like "this reminds me of Old spice or something" in an okay, nostalgic way. Then you smell it again and it's just meh. I keep trying this one over and over again. I'm not sure what I expect to find. It's what I imagine an old, functioning-alcoholic uncle might smell like.

This perfume smells to me like a blend of exotic dry woods with leather. On me, the dry wood notes wear off after about an hour, leaving a leathery scent remarkably similar to Bottega Veneta (BV for women). The second phase of the scent lasts for at least 6 hours. I like BV and wore it for a year, but I do wish the woodsy notes would last longer in Whiskey. The combination is something special.

Oh, my god! This is heaven. I originally tried it for me but I think I'll force it on my bf as his new signature cologne. It smells exactly like a cedar closet, with all of these warm, sexy, powerful whimsical notes swirling around it. This smell is strong, sexy, and cozy. I might wear it too around the house but definately tilts masculine.

Was a big fan of it in the stores; its a fave in the line but after sampling it at home found it too sweet at first and then after an hour it was virtually gone. I do not like this extreme - going from heavy/sweet to 'gone'. The scent is great but it wears horribly so this essentially has the same lasting power of a bathroom air freshener.

I tried it on my skin. I get a warm and pleasant combination of Woody-Ambery notes with Oak. I think of this as a watered down Chambre Noire plus a little bit of Oak. This one is more masculine and less complex. To be honest, I like the smell a lot. It hardly lasts for 2 hours. Overall: 5 out of 10.

This one is actually a lot less smoky than expected. I think I was expecting it to be closer to Commodity's Vetiver. I guess I was expecting scotch. lol. I get a lot of oak wood which makes me think more of wine casks and a slight powderiness. I think this fragrance could be unisex.

So... maybe try to imagine a white floral kind of A*Men Pure Malt smell with a more dominating leather note, which then becomes more of a lotion/suntan lotion kind of smell resembling "F" by Ferragamo pour Homme Black later on.

I liked how it started but it transforms into what immediately reminded me of this lovely mature lady that worked at the hotel. I wonder if she was wearing Shalimar?

Commodity's Whiskey + Vetiver.. Hmmm.. That might make for a good mix!!!!

Id love to buy a bottle if anyone has one✌🏼
