Wool

The fragrance itself: I am a fan. Hard agree that it's not what you think re: 'cozy' scents - it's much more masculine than that - but the sharp aromatic top notes are indeed smoothed out by the warm base. Herbal mid tones in an Aesop but sweeter kind of way. Unfortunately like most Commodity frags it lasts max 2-4hrs so even though I normally wouldn't recommend this in warm weather, you could get away with it with a lighter application. Price is eyewatering for the performance imo but I AM a sucker so this is going on my want list. Edit (12/06/23): Archive collection went on sale for 50% off so now I own this hahahahahahaha Side note: they don't make this in a travel spray anymore but I bought one when they did... The top unscrewed and leaked over my entire makeup bag. It doesn't look like they've changed their travel spray bottle design so I would not buy another travel size from Commodity.

Out of all of the commodity scents I’ve tried- I think this is my favorite. The opening is reminiscent of what I imagine a female version of Creed Aventus to be, a hint fruity, a hint woody, and the exact “unisex” line to walk. Cozy, people-pleasing. Piques interest in the opening - the tiniest hint vanillic and musky, nuanced, a dance of all of the best notes for cool weather and an effortlessly chic feel; but the dry down is a bit flat and static in comparison. Musk & vetiver overload, and longevity is mild. A hint herbal, but not the first thing you’d notice. The color of this fragrance in my mind is grey, maybe sterile is the best word for the lasting effect. Highly enjoyable, but not memorable in the slightest

I want to bathe in this fragrance in the winter. Wool smells like wearing a luxurious cashmere sweater that's been washed with lavender laundry detergent. So warm and comforting. Reminds me of the Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant (I say the deodorant just because I've never smelled the Eau de Parfum). I'm usually not a fan of lavender but it is balanced so well with the base notes. Not the best sillage but I honestly don't care because I love the scent so much. Might be boring to others but I find it so comforting and I can't wait to buy a full bottle in the winter.

I think what my significant other said perfectly fits it. "You smell like how a warm blanket feels". This fragrance is extremely cozy smelling and makes the person youre with want to get closer. This fragrance is also unisex and I dont think it leans either or. How could a warm blanket be masculine or feminine? It lasts for a moderate amount of time and doesnt project heavily but I dont see that as a negative. This is a date night fragrance that you only want your SO to smell. Highly recommend it and if it was on discounters id get a full size in a heartbeat

I don't know what it is about this fragrance, but I just love how it smells. It's warm and comforting and the feelings this scent evokes make me so happy. This scent is truly unisex in my opinion and tends to sit closer to the skin than most lavender heavy fragrances which is fine by me. This is definitely a fragrance that I would gravitate towards more in cooler weather, but I honestly don't hate it in the summer. The fruit/citrus notes are pretty prominent and I enjoy that. I'm looking forward to testing this out in the fall though!

IMO, this is a beautiful frag. Soft, cuddly, and slightly masculine. This is a reach, but to my nose this smells extremely similar to Scentsy's "My Dear Watson" wax melts. Vanilla, lavender, amber, and a sweet cinnamon are what I detect, though the last isn't a listed note. Lasts around 5 hours but becomes a skin scent after 4. Definitely worth a sample, and they're free from Sephora.

OMG this is so cozy! Perfect autumn/winter scent. It wraps around you like a freshly laundered blanket >.< Fell in love with this pretty much instantly. It's definitely more masculine leaning - so be ware. But if you like unisex scents, then there shouldn't be a problem. It smells woody and vanilla-y on the dry down. Definitely gonna add this to my "I want it" list.

I tried this scent in the Archive Discovery Set, and plan to get a full bottle if they ever release it again. It’s harsh and strongly masculine for me in the first 30 minutes and then it mellows out into something rich and fascinating on my skin. I can’t stop myself from smelling it and reveling.

This smell really similar to Armani Code EDP but smoother and more natural. Projection is not great and longevity is ok. Good for date night, stay in night, even dressing up situation. Very sexy and classy fragrance if you don’t mind the projection.

An incredibly cozy perfume, definitely a little more masculine (especially the drydown). The perfect fragrance for a movie night in on a rainy day. Very long lasting on skin, and immensely so on clothes, especially (ironically) woolly jumpers.

I have yet to come across a Commodity fragrance I didn't like. They layer so well and are in theory linear, but have so much depth even within a single scent. I'm so glad I discovered this range.

I've been testing all the Commodity black bottle range.. And so far this is my favourite. It is really cozy, warm, and thick! It's nutty and woody. I find myself sniffing for more!

Wool is great but is not for me. It's slightly too aromatic due to lavender. I do enjoy it a lot but I prefer their velvet scent more (more unique, more rosy and more feminine).

Opens with lavender and creamy vanilla-musk, along with a tickle of ozone. There's the slightest hint of greenness, then it dries down to a slightly sweet vanilla and musk accord, rapidly losing sillage as it goes.The overall experience is pleasant, if brief -- I never could get more than 4 hours of significant performance on it, even in warmer weather. Depending on when you wear it, Wool is either cozy or surprisingly fresh feeling -- it is not out of place on a sunny spring day. It does remind me of Armani Code EDP, but less thin and stale, more well-rounded. It's also not wrong to compare Wool to laundry products, but I don't think that's a bad thing -- it's quite fitting, if you think about it. But the notes here are a bit more distinct and plush. Overall, it's nice, but not blowing my mind.

A simultaneously fresh and cozy masculine-leaning fragrance. I've only smelled Armani Code once, but it is reminiscent of that cologne, especially in the opening, and more so on paper. After the 1-2 hr mark, this scent gets more musky, woody, and unique to the wearer, and this is when the fragrance leans more unisex. As a femme, I find the drydown not at all too masculine on me. That said, this definitely is a more masculine scent overall, and smelling this on a man would be very sexy, not in a sexual way, but in a comforting way. This is the fragrance I want my man to wear on cooler evenings in a relaxed environment. A cuddle fragrance that anyone could wear, sincerely, but a little more attractive on a masc person. I reeeally like the smell of this one!

Soft sweet, powdery and very accessible mainstream scent from Commodity. Think Armani Code, if there was an Armani Code eau de parfum for men. This would probably smell good on some guys. It is not the right scent for me.... edit... I have tried it a couple of times now and it is growing on me. it is good for some situations and is alright for the office as long as you don't put too much on. This does smell like Armani Code but is much more natural smelling and is made with higher quality ingredients

Great quality lavender , mandarin and wool in the beginning, the wool note reminds me of hot clothes right out the drier (love that smell). Then a little cedar a little oak moss. Not too complex, it would be better if it had better projection and better sillage, which is practically inexistent after the second hour, and a little disappointing for it being Edp concentration mind you. Nothing fancy but not too shabby either. Great scent.

after having this for a while, i'd say this has really grown on me. somewhat became of a comfort scent now. my first impression was that i was kind of boring, yet likeable and safe. I think its very cute. It's warm and freshish like freshly dried laundry. It's creamy and slightly sweet with a hint of floral (lavender) and fruit (apple), the underlying musk and stuff makes it feel more mature i think.

My favorite from my sample set, I ended up ordering a full bottle!! This is soft, cozy and comforting. Like wrapping up in your favorite sweater or blanket on a crisp night next to a fire with a cup of hot cocoa or tea. It doesn’t project far, which I like for a scent like this. The longevity is great - I used this as a nighttime scent and could still smell it in the morning just slightly.

This smells like a freshly washed shirt that was dried using those reusable laundry wool dryer balls. An observation about many of the commodity fragrances is they change drastically within the first 5 minutes of wearing them, and the openings are often very harsh. This progressively smelled better to me as I continued to smell it.

I get mostly lavender from this, rounded out with some vanilla (but I wouldn't call this a vanilla or amber-y scent). It's very pleasant but has more of a mainstream designer vibe than a niche one. It actually is quite similar to the original Prada Luna Rossa.

I just have got an Archive Collection kit, and most of those fragrances have to "age" on your skin for at least few minutes, and WOOL is one of them. As someone mentioned before, it does resemble DKNY Cashmere a LOT. Very cosey, and sweet, but not too sweet.

I see from that this has some longevity on other people. I wish it did on me. It is a very nice smell but it seriously disappears from my skin in about 20 minutes. I can't even detect it with my face right up to my skin.

I really like this scent, it is a bit masculine, though. The lavender is really nice in this one. Unfortunately it does dry down to mostly only lavender and wood, the opening is really good though.

I get what people are saying about cosy, laundered wool. Reminds me of JHAG Ode to Dullness, not necessarily in scent (though I do think they're trying to do similar things), but in vibes.

This is interesting. Lavender and vanilla. It's enjoyable, but I wouldn't buy it. I can see why they named it Wool. It's woolly.

Definitely a softer (pre reformulation) Armani Code. But stronger than the reformulated version.

To me, this smells exactly like walking into (or by, honestly) an American Eagle/Aeropostale/Hollister/Abercrombie & Fitch in the early to mid-2000s. It smells like the cologne a Hallmark movie character would be wearing during his Christmas visit to his small hometown. I was hoping for a little bit more complication on the drydown, but it doesn't last very long, and is very consistently mall-ish throughout. (Not necessarily a bad thing for me, though a friend described it as a "teenybopper" scent :/) Nostalgic and does smell good, but definitely feels like it's for a younger wearer.

Soft, cozy, and comforting — like slipping into a favorite sweater. Opens with a touch of citrus and spice, but quickly melts into creamy vanilla, amber, and woods. Projection stays close to the skin, making it intimate and versatile. Longevity is decent, but the real charm is its gentle, warm presence rather than boldness. A fragrance you wear for yourself, not the room.

This is a cosy, aromatic, modern-cologne situation that feels like a CKOne update. Musky, lightly herbal, very smooth, very blended. Not my thing, but I like it more than most department-store “men’s” colognes. I also wouldn’t silently resent sitting next to someone wearing this on a bus. It dries down to a clean soapy musk.

I really enjoy this, but the projection and longevity is pretty trash. This is good for an everyday unisex cozy scent. The lavender makes it cozy and the musk helps it stay warm. I wish it were stronger, then I'd definitely justify buying a full bottle! But I'll probably just use up my sample.

Slightly reminiscent of bathroom spray, at least initially. Does not smell warm or "alive" to me at all. I suspect I might like it somewhat better on the dry down.

Have you smelt wet wool before? Its rank, scratchy, and dirty lanolin. This is the oposite; clean, smooth, watery and warm smell. The above notes are not a great representation of this at all. Much more of a aqua smell to me -like watermelon colone or a ozonic sorta clean smell. I do get strong musk and cucumber on top, no citrus or apple. Then warm sweet musk again with woody-herbal note. Then fadeaway smells more like clean fabric with that statick electricity smell. No lavender to me. Lasts ok, linear warm musk not much developing/changing on me. ⛤⛤

I agree with ChloeRose666 that there is something in this juice that makes me nauseous. First calone, now another culprit that I have to avoid. There's something in Black Orchid that immediately gives me a headache, but the scent is gorgeous. Before that, Wool was great for the first 5 minutes.

I admit I'm not a fan of grapefruit and lavender in a fragrance. Together in one cologne? No way. I smelled this and instantly thought of Axe body spray, albeit better quality ingredients, but the same over all effect. Thumbs down for me, but this is definitely not my scene.

It's difficult to review this. I still don't know if I really like it or not. There are things I like about it at first sniff (the lavender, the comforting kinda vibe), but it dries down to a really basic, weak vanilla quite quickly. Firmly in the "ok" pile for me I think.

Very masculine. Smells like fresh cleaning products or hand soap or detergent. I get no amber and no lavender. This is a miss for me. Mercari here I come.

This makes me want to vomit rather violently. Which is honestly gutting, because I purchased the Archive Discovery set purely to smell this one! I LOVE their new range (especially the +.. literally all of them would happily FB.. It pains me almost to write a bad review for Commodity lol!) so I thought I would be safe.. how wrong I was. Take this review with a pinch of salt because plenty of other people seem to enjoy this but ewww To me, it smells like bad morning breath. Stale coffee breath mixed with that awful smell that's on plates when they come out of a dishwasher that needs salt/cleaning fluids. Like bad water. Honestly feeling queasy just describing the smell. I cant even eat off plates that smell like that! Am I a weirdo??!?! If anyone can tell me what about this fragrance specifically that smells sooooo bad to my nose please enlighten me because I cant work it out! Only a few have affected me this way and they're all quite different. Wool and Magnolia by Commodity, Born to be Unforgettable by Kilian, and The Ghost in the Shell by ELDO. Of course I've not liked the smell of many perfumes but these 4 all smell the same to me, and they don't have many notes in common! maybe its the specific musk they have in the base notes or something.. I do not know enough about perfume to be able to tell!

Smelled great for the first few minutes. Then, it started smelling like wet dog. I had to scrub it.

Commodity's Cocktail Kit is a nice way to sample many of their awesome fragrances, and I do believe many are awesome and worth trying. Wool has been a sample I've returned to and worn on a few occasions and my opinion is favorable! First spray is to my nose a LOT of lavender and vanilla, and I do notice the apple note. Very interesting and I agree with another reviewer - smells natural. This scent is interestingly warm yet cooling to my nose. Longevity for me has been up to 10 hours with 3-4 sprays - coming home from work and taking off my coat, I get whiffs of Wool. Very nice. Typically I enjoy more citrus-centered fragrances, as well as light spring/summer scents. Wool is much different than what I normally go for, but I find it to be a great scent for the office around this (winter) time of year. This does give off to my nose a vibe similar to men's department store fragrances, perhaps a bit of YSL La Nuit or Armani Code Profumo... However, I like this a whole lot better and would actually considering purchasing a full bottle. Something about it keeps me coming back. My other Commodity favorites are Moss (nice scent but very light and fades away in 1-2 hrs on my skin) and Book (VERY similar to SJP Stash, does have a bit of a "pickly" note but very complex, woody, and unisex).

Yeah, smells exactly like something else I’ve tried and it’s not unisex. It smells like a citrus lavender men’s cologne. Softish and pleasant but nothing like a warm blanket. I think it must be reminding me of Armani Code. Goes on citrus lavender cologne and fades very fast to a skin scent, but doesn’t morph much. Nothing special and certainly not my idea of a warm blanket/comfort scent, though it’s nice. This all being said, I do wear mens scents but this one is so unspectacular or different that I find it a bit ho-hum. Would be a nice easy office scent for most, but I sure don't see this as unisex remotely. Then again, Dior Homme Intense is one of my favorites and it's not remotely unisex to me either, leaning sooooo far feminine that it's a powdery iris bomb of vanilla pudding candy. So maybe my perceptions aren't marching with anyone else's these days. Wool still isn't' a warm cozy blanket scent though, no matter what way it appears to lean.

It's weirdly getting under my skin that this is called wool. Maybe I'm being too literal, but if you asked me to design a fragrance called wool, it would be powdery musks, cashmeran and Amber. Maybe some lactonic notes, maybe even a lanolin accord. I would have no problem in the world with a citrusy lavender except that I have a real thing for hairy frags and of all things, you'd think something called wool would fit the bill. Guess I was expecting something a little bit more like cashmere mist. Looking past the glaring misnomer, wool is well balanced and has good performance. I like the way it smells. I sense I would prefer it even more on another person, but it is enjoyable, fresh and punchy. Looking back on my other commodity reviews, I felt this way about book too. I also thought that book smelled like an upgraded axe body spray; an accusation I could level at wool as well I think.

The citrus and apple top notes have all their sharp edges very much smoothed out to better blend with the amber vanilla base, which is a sensible touch. I can’t say I’m terribly impressed with the opening though, it lacks distinction and excitement so comes across as quite generic. There’s nothing here suggestive of wool. It’s in the dry down where it becomes more interesting and lives up to its name; the musky vanilla and amber base conveys a creamy, sweet almost caramel accord that pushes the composition towards vaguely gourmand territory. It’s inviting, comforting and warm, like the olfactory equivalent of a friendly hug, or indeed a soft, woolly cardigan. Definitely unisex and ideally suited to cooler weather. Projection is minimal, this is mainly a skin scent albeit a charming one. Longevity isn’t very long. Highly enjoyable if you get past the opening.

At first impression, this gives me a fuzzy feeling, like being wrapped in a nice sweater in the cooler months. I immediately noticed the musk in this, which mixes very well with the slightly sweet citrus and the understated lavender. It feels like it designed to be worn close to the skin like that comfy sweater, and it definitely does that, almost as if it is a second skin. Even though it is a skin scent, for the most part, the sillage is decent. People will get a waft of this scent trail as you walk by or leave a room. It is very pleasant and has a relaxing effect to it. I wouldn't mind using this as something to wear to bed or even spray the sheets before bed. It would make for an excellent sleep session. This is my first sample from the house, and I am definitely excited to try their other offerings.

This is definitely a skin scent, but it is nevertheless beautiful. As a ferocious knitter, I fell in love with it, and I can see the connection. I live in Canada and to me, this is the perfect scent to wear in the fall, when the pavement is covered with colorful leaves. It's a frisky day. You put on your favorite chunky sweater and a velvet blazer (let's not forget handmade socks!), and you hit the farmers' market or your local bakery/coffee shop. It is honest and uncomplicated, and there is a sort of casual elegance to it. Like a merino cable scarf.

Received a sample in my seemingly never-ending search for a few newer/unique scents. Definitely catch the lavender/citrus/powdery aspects. Unfortunately not getting much (read “any”) of the vanilla/amber that would give this a nice “warm” feeling. Decent longevity (3-4 hrs) sits pretty close to the skin. Inoffensive if kinda “generic” on me. Could just be my pasty Midwestern skin or unrefined nose. Cheers!

This is definitely masculine (as are most of the scents from the black range). Wool does not bring any "wool" feeling for me, but is a decent lavender/cedar/musk scent with a hint of citrus in the background. It smells very mainstream, with a finger feeling about the "niche ingredients". I also find it very Close to Armani Code. Longevity 3h, sillage Close to skin. Try Before you buy.

Warm and cozy. An easy wearing fragrance for anywhere and anytime. The vetiver, musk, vanilla and amber toast up the citruses and lavender in an all together pleasing way. This is most definitely cozying up in your favorite cashmere turtleneck in the dead of winter on your comfy couch in front of a fire with a good book and a good mate. Let the hours pass in pure comforting pleasure.

Much more masculine than I expected. For a scent named “Wool” I thought it was going to be a lot more cozy and warm - but it smells sooo much like a “blue/aquatic” men’s cologne for the first 40 minutes - even the dry down is like a powdery men’s aftershave. I pretty much just get men’s body wash from this :( Lovely cologne though, I’ll be gifting it to one of my brothers.
