Vetyver Haiti

I haven't tried the original EDT (metal can, main picture), only the most recent EDP (clear glass bottle, small picture). I own 20+ vetiver frags, and have smelt 50-60+ vetiver-centered frags in my life. I'm crazy about vetiver. I can tell you that the EDP is a great nearly pure earthy/smoky with a hint of citrus. It reminds me of some of my favourite vetivers (Givenchy, Diptyque, Buxton...). The EDT is currently sold around ~$35 on eBay France, and should the EDT be similar to the EDP, is a definite go (please someone confirm - or not). At the current ~$110 retail for the EDP, I'd suggest to opt for the Diptyque Vetiveryo EDP instead, or add $30-40 and go for Buxton's or Jovoy's vetivers instead. That said, as soon as it goes around $50, I ll get a full bottle! Good job CSP! Mildly cold days, 30+

It's odd they don't list vetiver in perfume notes above, I suppose the clue's in the name though! This contains a lovely natural vetiver in all its astringent smoky, salty rootiness. It's softened by a subtle vanilla. The smokiness is slightly tarry, like Lapsang Souchong tea. It dries down quite light and dry, almost with a tobacco note It'll be unisex for the vetiver lovers - and a definite winner for men who enjoy vetiver, but it won't be sweet enough for women who prefer their perfumes to be more obviously pretty or feminine. To compare with other vetivers out there, it's more natural than Encre Noire and Creed's Original Vetiver, definitely less rich or complex than the Creed, or Miller Harris's Vetiver Insolent. Its not as elegant, light and refined as in Malle's Vetiver Extraordinare (which is also more complex though light), but it is high quality vetiver and therefore has its own simple elegance. It's not something I'd wear to feel dressed up as such (though it would probably work well in that sense for men more likely) I'd just wear it for myself during the day since I find vetiver so grounding and relaxing. Lovely stuff! Good longevity and a fairly light sillage, though not weak.

WoW!!! Very unique!!! Smells like strong fresh Celery snapped in half with sugar, earth and a bit of crushed green bell pepper (capsicum). I think the note table misleads as the combination of the listed notes blends so well to make this unique smell. Very fresh and grounding though can't imagine wearing it for any occasion other than a private treat. Not particularly long lasting though. Great buy for a left field and definitely not showing its age. Happy Smelling

Powdered vetiver root and vanilla musk on my skin. Very little citrus, maybe a hint of bitter bergamot rind in the opening. A like for summer, but only if sprayed lightly behind the knees. I purchased a full bottle of this in the mid 1990's, but haven't worn it much over the years even though I like it.. Since then I've amassed a collection of many scents both new and vintage...enough that I am able to compare them for differences and similarites. When I decided to wear Vetyver Haiti today, I noticed some things that I hadn't noticed in the past, such as the cinnamon-like note along side the stong vetiver that I think is coming from the combination of carnation and clove. As the scent dried down further, I immediately noticed how similar it is to Molinard's Habanita and this is due to the fact that the ever-present vetiver is now joined by a creamy vanilla note. I even pulled out the Habanita to smell them side by side, and sure enough, they are very similar. At the base, Vetyver Haiti is like Habanita meets Mitsouko.

This vetiver is unlike any I've tried before. It is both soft and creamy, but also somewhat dark, spicy, and earthy. It is quite strong when first applied, but not at all sharp like Route du Vetiver or Vétiver de Puig. It has a drydown that is tonka, vetiver and lots of rum. It's sort of a dirty grungy smell which reminds me of rainy weather in a tropical beach town. A very interesting take on vetyver and certainly worthy of a try.

Dietmar...You can purchase this from the Comptoir Pacifique website. That is the only place that I could find it. But, it is there!
