08. Cinnamon Punch

I think I’m trying this in the wrong season (it’s summer and this is definitely a fall/winter scent). I normally steer clear of fig notes, but I don’t notice them here. The cinnamon here is a very dry stick cinnamon instead of something you’d find in a punch. The spices are beautifully done, it smells like a simmer pot you’d put on the stove in the winter. A slight citrus note and some beautiful woods and vanilla to round it out. I’m definitely going to put this away and try it again in the colder months but this is really well blended and smells so nice.

warm cinnamon with creamy fig wrapped in incense with soft violet petals, woody vanilla, and vintage musks. This is cocooning and warmly spiced, autumnal in a really chic way, and has a really good balance of sweetness, woodiness, and spice here. Cinnamon can be really one dimensional when it’s the main attraction but this give it something interesting, different stages of floral leaning, sweet leaning, woody leaning. This gives cinnamon a purpose. Really gorgeous

This is the much younger memory of Serge Lutens’ Chergui. Beautiful, addicting dry incensed spice over woods, sweetened by cinnamon. It’s very well blended, and performs sell. A fantastic price point for anyone looking for a modernized version of Chergui, though you can pick up the SL for about $70 at discounters.
