Cuir Vert

Cuir Vert was launched in 2017 and aims to offer refinement, through a fragrance whose central theme is the leather. Its name means Green Leather and its composition brings notes of lemon, guava, and yuzu, at the output, making way for a green body of cypress, sweet birch, frankincense, and oud, resting on a base of moss, saffron, leather, and hardwood. Honestly, few fragrances leave me so perplexed that I do not know where to begin the analysis. I decided then to start with a compliment: incredible! Cuir Vert is for lovers of perfumes with leather, a lot of leather. But not that scent of warm leather, which usually comes with labdanum, amber or some other oriental note, resembling the touch of a jacket. It is for lovers of dry leather and green scents, like those of the classics of yesteryear, with a touch of modernity that only the independent perfumery can bring, since it totally goes against the standard explored by the market in the last decade. Cuir Vert surprises in all the aspects and reveals, once again, the classic side of the perfumer Fabio Condé in his creations. From the moment it touches the skin, it is of a relentless beauty, with monstrous projection and duration above all expectations. When I try to draw comparative reasoning, I think Cuir Vert was made for those who, in the past, fell in love with the fragrance of Habit Rouge (Guerlain) and always wanted to know a more intense version, a stronger evolution, but with less powdery content. On the skin, Cuir Vert frightens the ones with a sensitive sense of smell. No wonder negative comments and adjectives that may arise over time and with increased sales. I even thought of describing the evolution, explaining the nuances of some notes, but I can only think of a way to describe this perfume: a dense forest, full of shrubs, cypresses, and humidity. Some houses, with smoke coming out of the chimneys. That white and isolated landscape of winter, giving way to green fields, icy lakes and trees being cut by lumberjacks. One of them goes into the woods and returns home carrying a large swath of branches wrapped in a piece of leather. There are lemon, cypress and birch branches. From the firewood, which burns on the stove and the fireplace, a smell of noble wood. From the house, a strong dry, minty and green scent spreads, as the smoke reaches the skies. This is Cuir Vert, which could have been called Condé Pour Monsieur easily, but received the perfect name to describe such a peculiar fragrance. I do not know what came first: the fragrance, the concept or the name, but they were made for each other. So far, I do not know anything within the Brazilian perfumery (or made by Brazilian perfumers) that smells like this. My only criticism would be the extremely masculine style of the fragrance, which lessens the range of options for women, at a time when the collection is being launched. Beautiful creation!

I was surprised by the quality of this juice. Unlike the other leather frangrances I knew, it has a green, resinous touch that I really loved. It is a well balanced fragrance and will undoubtedly please many people. I can not imagine anyone who can not like that perfume. The sillage and the longevity are amazing. This is a masterpiece. One think that I can say, is that some people here voted as a poor longevity and soft sillage. I am totaly sure they are envious people who do not even know the fragrance and want to demoralize the beautiful work of Fabio Condé. Believe me, this fragrance surpassed my expectations.

Great perfume, unique ... the perfumer managed to give a green and menthol tone in a scent of leather. At certain times the base resembles the Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, but the resinous green auburn with the mint, makes it have its own personality. Excellent fixation and projection, worthy of a niche scent crafted with great zeal. Differentiated, that's the word. Sorry the review, google translator. =)

Leather jacket, pine cleaner, and a hint of weed... perfect. My first encounter was a bit scary. I bought a bunch of decants from the brand with some friends to explore the house, and we had zero experience with niche fragrances. As soon as I sprayed it, I immediately associated that bitter green smell with bug spray, pine cleaner, and even motor oil. My nose felt attacked, and in the end my friend liked it more and kept it. Some time later, with a more mature nose and a growing appreciation for leather fragrances, I decided to give it another shot. And I’ll say just one thing... test it on skin and let it evolve. Right from the opening, it hits you with a blast of leather and cypriol, which are the backbone of the fragrance from start to finish. To me, it smells like that piney oil you get on your hands when you rub a pine tree. But it changes a lot as it develops. This opening is also supported by a mix of fruits with green, citrusy, rough, and very dry facets. There’s a clear focus on a juicy green guava, but with zero sweetness. Together, these notes round out the composition, creating a green freshness that even leans slightly mentholated. As it dries down, around an hour in, the oud and base notes finally show up, bringing smoky, animalic, and incense-like accords. Combined with those intense green notes, it reminded me a lot of the smell of weed, not fresh cannabis, but actually burned. I don’t know if that was Fábio’s intention, but in the drydown this incense-heavy green leather strongly evokes that vibe. I don’t see it as a negative though, I actually enjoy fragrances in this direction. It reminded me of Smoke by Awake and slightly of the herbal leather in Bad Boy Le Parfum. Performance here is beast mode. Easily 12 hours of longevity with strong projection for several hours. Three sprays and you’ll still be smelling it the next day. This is yet another masterpiece from Condé, a unique green leather fragrance whose quality and performance easily rival many overpriced international niche scents. Cuir Vert is one of the most challenging and distinctive fragrances from the house. If you’re new to perfumery or not into this kind of profile, don’t go in blind. And no matter the occasion or weather, you need personality to pull this one off. I can’t give it a 10 for two reasons: it’s not very crowd-pleasing, and the presentation should be updated to match the brand’s newer bottles. 8.5/10

I wouldn't pretend to be knowledgeable as to the different notes and their interplay, so will just attempt to express some of what I've imagined while wearing this. There are those who wear fragrances in order to "ask" for something. A possible recognition, an acceptance, to make a connection, general allure, etc. For me, this is more of an "identity" scent, not possessing any sort of gilded request to be noticed with some form of overt, extending plea for attention. It is a "landed" article of territory, without announcing the necessity for something other than the presentation of its' own fulfillment of accomplishment (something many would certainly hope to one day present). Whole, powerful, yet relaxed; the stance of an embodiment of confident and abiding choices. There's little else like it. p.s. there's an "unhappy" face seemingly attached to my review. Assuredly, it was NOT my intention to have expressed this sentiment (must have hit a wrong button at some point, or something).

What a wonderful perfume! If Black Orchid is a gothic garden, this one is a gothic forest... It opens with a citrus punch composed of lemon, yuzu (which gives it a very sour touch), and guava, which presents itself here as greener, more with the scent of the peel, producing a mentholated accord that resembles the smell of menthol ointment. After a few minutes, cypress emerges (bringing a dry and sharp herbal aspect), a marvelous leather (nothing animalic, but with a somewhat antique touch, like a Victorian Chesterfield armchair), and birch, whose smokiness reminds me of the older batch of Aventus (they're not similar, it's just that smoky tone). In the background, I perceive a very subtle resinous sweetness, resulting from frankincense (which appears here more as resin than incense) and saffron bringing a smoky sweetness that combines with the leather and birch, combined with a very subtle drier oud, which helps to enrich the perfume's base, appearing very little. This ensemble formed by cypress, leather, birch, frankincense, and a slight woody oud joins the opening, making the scent of the perfume reminiscent of absinthe, producing an herbal, sharp, acidic, bitter, and slightly sweet accord. In short, it's a smoky, herbal, and leathery perfume, with a resinous background, all very well balanced. The leather, although quite apparent, doesn't behave as the main note on me, taking second place behind the smoky herbal accord. In the drydown, the smoky accord becomes more and more evident, blending with the dry and bitter herbal aspect. It's a wonderful perfume, truly evoking a dark forest, reminiscent of Memoir Man, especially the older batch, where the leather note is more prominent than in the current batches (more herbal). Although it's heavy, I don't consider it challenging or difficult, but it does require a certain personality and attitude to wear, it won't please everyone. I find it quite versatile, as long as you control the sprays, as it's very strong. One or two sprays do the job, and it's even possible to use it as a signature scent, but as it's a very refined perfume, I don't think it goes well with casual clothing, requiring at least a shirt with tailored trousers. It's not shareable at all, it's very masculine, I can't imagine a woman wearing it. Its performance is excellent: it projects strongly for about 2.5-3 hours and lasts over 12 hours easily. It's a dense, smoky, herbal, dark, and even somewhat gothic perfume. It brings to mind the famous passage from the opening of the 7 seals in the Apocalypse (8, 10-11) of St. John: "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell

Não tenho dúvida de que esse perfume será o carro chefe da marca. Se não quiser ler o resto, leia apenas o que achei dele: ótimo perfume! Como não sou especialista, tendo a buscar na memória outros perfumes que me lembram a fragrância, e isso também ajuda quem não sentiu a ter uma ideia do perfume. Pois bem, esse perfume me fez lembrar ao mesmo tempo o Memoir e o l'air du desert Marocain. O primeiro é pela nota clara e forte de couro, ela domina o perfume do começo ao fim, é um cheiro agudo bem forte. O segundo é pelas notas de fundo, as notas misturadas de cipreste que tem bastante no LDDM. A notoriedade do couro aqui é absoluta, e o perfume agarra na pele a fixação é monstruosa. A projeção também é incrível, o cheiro pulsa na pele, não precisa ir até o pulso pra sentir, o cheiro vem até você, isso que se espera de um EDP. É bastante linear, a fragrância que começa não sofre muitas alterações durante o dia. Sobre as percepções alheias posso dizer que minha esposa amou o perfume, ainda mais porque o rastro dele é bem agudo, vai direto às narinas. É perfume pra 3 borrifadas e nada mais, também acho perfume para ocasiões especiais. Eu adorei, pra mim é 10!

Cuir Vert is a great achievement by a major nose. Stunningly modern, it stands alongside some of the giants of 80's masculine perfumery while remaining totally unique and focused. Mr. Condé's mastery of every stage of the evolution of this fragrance is incredible. The opening breathes the slightest sweetness of guava and lime. Quickly yuzu appears, and this glint of light leads the nose to the menthol and tarry notes of cypress and birch in the heart. Frankincense and leather grow through the long evolution but remarkably, the texture of the top notes and especially the camphorous aspect remain throughout. A massive, tightly wrought fragrance full of complexity and imagination, it is still very wearable and very adaptable. Cuir Vert drips quality and naturalness - the sheen of the oil on the skin and the longevity and stability point to high concentration. Presentation is tasteful and simple. International customers, do not hesitate: Customer service and shipping are excellent.

For 1-2 hours I mainly smell citrus and birch tar, a combination that on my skin reminds me a bit of cumin (not the dirty kind). It mellows later on but never loses the birch tar note. I think I will have to give it a few more wearings to see if I will be able to smell all the notes the other reviewers smelled or if I will remain anosmic or ignorant to them.
