Mystic Sugar

As someone who has shied away from gourmands having been a little scarred by the sweet sugary juvenile vibes of gourmand designer perfumes (prior to getting into niche), I was hesitant to try this. But owning and loving 3 others from Coreterno, my curiosity and my itch to buy something new resulted in a blind buy of Mystic Sugar. I am not disappointed! This is such a grown up but delicious fragrance. There is subtle sweetness but only coming from a combination of the purity of the notes, a distinct absence of straight up “sugary” notes. The opening is, as others have mentioned, a delicious grilled pineapple with the tiniest hint of almond blossom (zero marzipan here!). Then the warmth of the cacao and tonka begin emerging. The spiciness is only a mere accent, I wouldn’t consider this a “spicy” perfume compared to others I own which are heavier on the spices like cardamom and pepper. My only gripe with this is that on me it is so darn close to skin, or maybe there’s something about it I am anosmic to. Today I sprayed about 15-20 times on my skin and another 6-10 sprays on my clothes (I am aware of this expensive overkill haha) and although I could detect the tiny cosy cocoon I am wearing, I am just not satisfied and want MORE! I don’t want to be caressed with this, I want to drown in it. Call me a gourmand convert.

Burnt sugar on my skin. Reminds me a lot of What About Pop from thoo. But I am less impressed with this one, probably because warm vanilla gourmands are so in style right now. But, I think this one is still a good one, it's not overly sticky sweet, it's mature yet still very cozy and the hints of spicy notes gives it something special. Unfortunately, on my skin, it is not as loud as some other people have stated (I sprayed it once from a tester bottle, maybe I have to try it again), so I don't get to research the undertones as mush as I hoped. I like this kind of scents, it's just really hard to decide which one to actually purchase in full bottle size. I think this one could suit me in travel size. In my opinion, launching travel sizes is a good move from this house, because their perfumes are quite interesting, but when you test the whole line it's like.. Something is almost always missing, so it's not fb worthy, but travel sizes come handy in these situations. For layering or only for playing around.

The opening pineapple is really smooth and sweet. Nothing Aventus-like if you’re wondering. More like smelling a pineapple drink sans the sourness. The sugary note, however, can be rather taxing on some noses and might induce fatigue, and thus some nose blindness may occur on and off, rendering a certain period where the scent maybe undetectable intermittently, quite like BCR540. But the overall scent is not the same as BCR540. This is like a vanilla cream Frappuccino with extra syrup and a slice of pineapple.

Well, this was a beautiful surprise 😍 Managed to get my hands on a partial bottle and I’m so glad I did. Opens with what initially smelt like a boozy accord but looking at the notes, I think it must be the pineapple and orange mixing with the cardamom. The cacao comes through quickly after that and leaves a gorgeous, spicy, vanilla drydown with a sprinkling of ginger. Very, very moreish. It’s been a minute since I’ve truly loved a new scent!

I love this scent. Tho I don't really smell pineapple in it. It's really addicting, powdery, sweet smell. It's kind of husky, which I like about it. It doesn't stay for long on the skin, works wonders on the clothes tho. I'd say that is more of a female scent than male, I have seen some comments saying otherwise, but I really don't associate this smell with male fragrance.

This smells heavenly. Perhaps a more masculine-leaning gourmand (I'm a male) as other people have stated. Smells like spicy and ambery vanilla cookies. Doesn't smell sweet. The longevity is not the best on skin, but works wonders on clothes. Very happy with this scent and the performance overall, and looking forward to wearing this come Fall and Winter.

Mystic Sugar grew on me. What I love most about this fragrance are the deliciously sweet wafts of a fruity vanilla note that I get all day, without having to reapply. The opening is a bit too sharp for me, but once the ambery notes start to unfold, the fragrance has a delicious warmth to it that can even withstand a walk in snowy weather.

It definitely has a Black Phantom vibe that gives it kind of a dirty splash. I am very surprised it is not tiring, because the sugary sweetness is prominent. Stays forever on clothing, seats quite close however. I can't get enough, but wouldn't recommend blind buying.

Smells like BR540 and sugar that is in the process of being caramelised with a smoky note on the drydown. Grows on you. Not a projector so I don't know if it's full bottle worthy..

Mystic Sugar is the bomb! It's got this killer combo of vanilla, pineapple and cocoa that will have you sniffing your wrist like a manica! I love it.

still trying to decide if this is bottle worthy or I was just so underwhelmed by the whole line and im holding on to the one i loved.

THIS is cardamom done right. It's a note I've been struggling with but I really like how it's balanced in this. On initial spray the pineapple is pretty strong and feels sort of discordant. I wish it was a different fruit, maybe if they had gone down the mango or maybe a blackcurrant type of vibe instead, I think that might've been nice? Not sure. Thankfully the pineapple does fade quickly, giving way to more of the "spiced cookie" gourmand elements. Very mature, yet still very sweet. Nicely balanced and soft from end to end. Interestingly it's not a particularly warm scent profile to my nose, despite being very autumn-y, the fruits in the opening bring it down a few degrees for me. I could definitely see this working in early spring. Conjures images of being in the room with an elegant, slightly older woman, and she's baking warm spiced sugar cookies in the autumn. For those that have watched The Expanse, I feel like this is a perfume that Chrisjen Avasarala would wear.

SPUN SUGAR. Warming spices... Fruit. In that order and magnitude. The pieces all play together so nicely, but I agree with the below review that the sugar can definitely be Too Much, and I wish it was toned down to mix more smoothly with the citrus/pineapple and rich spices. I wore this to a work event and had literally 6 compliments in the space of an hour... so it’s definitely a literal crowd-pleaser. If you want something similar, this smells like Saint Julep from Imaginary Authors, but neither have great longevity. It also smells like a more refined Cloud Pink by Ariana Grande - cotton candy + pineapple. As much as I’d love a bottle of this for my gothic heart... I have 2 frags that do basically the same thing and I’m not sure I can justify a 3rd... but this is much richer than the other two.

Fragrance that evokes magical oriental atmospheres: a carefree walk in the crowded souk of the Medina of Marrakech, where industrious humanity immerses itself in exotic essences, spices blend with the scent of amber, cocoa, cardamom, macerated fruit, vanilla, sandalwood and lively ginger, clearly perceptible in an inebriating cloud of deep gourmand sweetness. A sensorial journey worth knowing for lovers of the genre.

got a sample for this in a full-bottle scentsplit order. it reminds me of almond cookies, with the almond blossom and vanilla, and some sugary pineapple. the citrus make it really smooth and palatable. don't really care that much for super sweet gourmands otherwise, but this one is quite nice!

This is a sugary spicy unisex fragrance. I think the pineapple and ginger makes it smell a tiny bit cologne-y which isn't a bad thing. Its not super strong and kind of disappears quickly. I do like this though! 7.5/10

This is a nice scent, but it sits so close to the skin on me that I don't think it's worth the price of a full bottle. I like the bits of cacao and pineapple that I get peeking through the sugar.

Fresh OJ, later comes vanilla powdered sugar, gourmet Tootsie Rolls & cozy amber. On me, the longevity and sillage is poor.

Mystic Sugar is kind of disappointing. It smells good, kind of a carmalized sugar, but in the background it has a men’s cologne kind of thing going on. There’s just something about this that makes me feel like it would be better suited on a man, rather than myself. It’s not super strong, sitting much closer to the skin than I was expecting. I do think that this would make a good layering scent. Longevity is okay, around 4 hours, probably more if I would have sprayed clothes. While I can see how this scent could be likable for others, there’s just something off for me. It’s sweet, but it’s not a gourmand.

This was an impulse buy, so I just expected an exotic gourmand based on the name. What I received is very different. I guess it's on point if "mystic" refers to "mysterious" cause I'm confused by this fragrance. It's subdued, slightly sweet, very powdery, and something is combining to produce a faint mothball scent. It was likely the beautiful bottle and the fact that I was in the midst of my gourmand haze that appealed to me most.

This is such a generic sweet vanilla-tonka with some rich chocolate and spice scent The typical "perfect for date night" that every other person out there is wearing and obsessing over

I’m trying a decant and the opening gives a very strong SPICY ginger. A few minutes in, the spiciness isn’t screaming at me any longer, but I’m still getting a lot of ginger with possibly a bit of cocoa and wood. I’m not sure how much I enjoy that combination. I feel like these notes SOUND like a good idea but the execution leaves much to be desired. I feel like I never want to wear this again. The ginger is very unappealing in this. I’ll give it a few more minutes before I go scrub this off... the ginger is fading but I just can’t find anything appealing about this one. 2/10

Be careful not to overspray with this one. Goes to your head quick. It’s an earthy spiced sweet vanilla. I can see the appeal. It’s giving bohemian sweet. A well-traveled vanilla but one of the spice notes, I can’t tell which, is doing too much for me. Earthy sweet smells like Bianco Latte can be nice but this one falls short and is just a little too eccentric for me.

I totally agree with @cgaleb. This smells very masculine in the drydown. I was expecting something sweet and girly, but that is not what this fragrance is at all. It's way too cologne-y for me to enjoy. :-(

I tried several times to get past the opening of this. I can't. Had several people try and nobody wants it. Off to ebay it goes!

This was a blind buy and I was a bit disappointed. I heard a lot about this from some YouTubers and as someone who loves gourmands I had really high hopes. I was expecting the fruit notes to be strong here, I thought this would be a tropical gourmand for an adult. It smells nice but I wasn’t blown away and won’t repurchase it. This is very cacao heavy on me. All I can really smell on my skin is chocolate with a hint of orange, I wish the fruit notes were stronger in this one. I do occasionally pick up a sugar type of scent but I’m not sure what that note is. If you’re not a fan of Jasmine dont worry, I don’t smell any Jasmine and it’s one of my most disliked notes. I will also say that this is definitely skin scent and it doesn’t last very long. I’d give this a 4/10.

mystic sugar is everything i didn't know i wanted, and more! sumptuously mouth-watering with a spicy ambery vanilla. orange and pineapple make the opening juicy and slightly tart, but the sweet and sugary notes of tonka, vanilla and cacao take over quite quickly. they are perfectly balanced by the spicy addition of ginger and cardamom, a blend which is then transformed into a deliciously smooth gourmand with a creamy and sensual sandalwood. trust me, it’s incredible! this perfume lasts over 24 hours on me. in the last 12 hours or so, it becomes more of a sweet musky thing, and it's just fantastic! i usually don't advocate blind buys, but if this sounds like it's for you, it probably is. read more of my reviews on instagram: @scentrified

A gourmand Grand Soir. I usually despise when there’s pineapple in a fragrance but this isn’t pineapple forward at all, on me. It’s a golden amber with hints of slightly bitter dark cocoa and perfectly sweetened almonds. I think the “bitter” part is the light citrus touch. I think they did a good job with this one. Unisex, all season fragrance and extremely long lasting on me. If you like By The Fireplace, Jazz Club, Babycat, Pardon, Estrella De La Mañana, Chemin D’Amande, you will enjoy this... except this fragrance can also be worn during summer, unlike some of the aforementioned ones.

Thanks to a bottle split I was able to get a decant of this , a type of fragrance that I usually don't enjoy . Mystic Sugar opens with a tart juicy accord not particularly pineapple but delicious . This is accompanied by a sweet powdery and spicy heart , truly finely milled and harmonious . The ginger is ticklish and I love it here .Amber glides in on glowing embers of warmth , Bi I gotta agree with you this is the best gourmand ever . This is only my first wearing and my impressions may broaden a little bot totally wow.

I like this but not as much as frapin 1270. There is something in this that upsets the balance and I think it’s almond. It stops it from becoming fully a syrupy amber and makes it more biscuity and almost crumbly in texture rather than smooth. I like my ambers thick and syrupy so it’s spoiled as far as I’m concerned. Having said that, it is still a good fragrance but there are better out there. Unisex. Sillage moderate.

My first foray into Gourmand. Bought this on a whim in NYC. Thought I loved it in the store. Brought it home and wore once. This is such a soft, beautiful, non cloying, sweet Gourmand. Literal spun sugar. But it just doesn't feel like me. I keep. looking around for the person wearing it ;) Willing to re-home my 3.4 oz bottle (less 4 spritzes) at a good price if interested! DM if interested.

My bottle has been aging for over a year and it still maintains the Big Red gum scent on me. It’s now a fully macerated mature amplified Big Red gum that is astonishingly overpowering. One spray is enough. Sadly I don’t get the other notes much. Not blind but safe please get a decant. I can’t part with it though because the bottle is so cute!

Lovely smell but definitely more of a skin scent. It projects for the first 15 mins then it’s a skin scent. Not worth it to me for that reason which is a shame because I would probably purchase a FB if it had performed better because I find the smell delicious and unique. Oh well, glad I sampled first.

It's very strange but today discovering a sample of this perfume by chance, it made me go back 25 years when I was 16 years old. At that time I wore the Rochas Man perfume And I can assure you that its smell was very close to it but more powerful.Have other people had this same feeling?

I wish I got the pineapple note for me it’s absent. If you like Big Red cinnamon gum you may like this it has a warm spicy cinnamon esque quality. It will do great in the winter. Performance isn’t great. I still like it though as I love spicy wintery scents.

Soooo good... Very much a daily wear for me during the winter. To my nose, it smells like caramelizing nuts with burnt brown sugar and bitter cacao. The bitterness keeps it from being overly sweet. It's so cozy, it gives warm sweater or a hug.

I’m back to share; this is such an addictive scent. Please overspray to get the best out of this. I’m keep getting whiffs of this in my jacket and it’s sooooo good. That grilled pineapple note is everything. Especially in the dry down. 🥰🥰🍍

It's quite nice and sweet. I got some compliments. But unfortunately it doesn't linger for long time. It's not childish sweetness. Grown up scent.

Cardamon Tonka Chocolate... Accord of secret cookies eaten in the temple.... King of gourmand....Total revelation for a lovers of gourmand...

I wanted to like this but.....that dastardly *PINEAPPLE* kills it for me. It smells BLUE and typically ordinary. (((unhappy face)))

I sprayed it and 5 minutes later it was just totally and completely gone =( so sad because it smells amazing
