Sugarwood

Sugarwood is interesting and quite different than "mainstream" sugary scents. Somehow "natural", little earthy (more so than woody in my opinion. I am getting more of fresh - almost "dirty" - roots and greenery rather than wood itself. I can easily envision a field of sugarcane with the lush, dark green foliage heated by strong sun and washed and refreshed by warm rain. Now, of course, the foliage is also splattered in mud). Unlike the other reviewers, I don't find it very sweet at all, but maybe that's because I have tested some REAL sweet fragrances recently. :-). The fig, lovely, lovely flowers and vanilla make it feminine, especially as the fragrance develops and it does so very prettily. The sugar here is indeed a little burned or better still - very raw, unrefined as is the whole concoction. Put on freshly showered skin is does seem to create quite unusual - for a moment perhaps almost shocking - sweetish, almost dirty rawness. It's not repulsive or unpleasant, quite the opposite, but it is not what one expects from a "sweet" fragrance or from clean skin. I like it quite a lot, but I WILL have to ask what others think when they smell me. :-)

SW is definitely not candy based fragrance. There is nothing similar to modern pop culture scents that are full of artificial sweetness. SW begins with strong citrus notes that lasts for seconds and than immediately develops into brown sugar, over- caramelized, almost burnt, with green background. This green color is created from freshly squeezed sugarcane directly cut from the fild, blended fig fruits and leafs giving us freshness same as watermelon has. But the burnt sugar is always present throughout whole life of this fragrance. In the base the beautiful cedar comes as a main wood and also something that I can't precisely describe, fresh tobacco with spicy vanilla drops? In my opinion SW is very well blended fragrance, very niche and even too niche to be understand by big audience. I can honestly recommend it to anyone who likes unusual a little sweet woody and incensy fragrances for summer weather.

I absolutely LOVE this scent. I am so excited to say that I have become a proud owner of a bottle of this gem. I ordered a bunch of samples from lucky scent a while ago, and this perfume immediately went on my "to buy" list. I thought I was going to have to order it online, but I found a little boutique in Seattle that was selling this line! To me this fragrance smells exactly like sugarcane. I do not find it too sweet at all. I immediately smell a woody fibrous scent underlying the sugar as soon as it is sprayed. I can notice the bergamot in the background just giving it the slightest bit of tartness. As the other reviewers have said this is an unusual scent, so definitely do not buy blind!

I wasn't at all certain of this scent. it seemed perhaps too sweet. I purchased a bottle after sampling though. The cedar acts as a counterpoint to the sweet. what I perceive is sugar cane the plant, not sugar the finished component. The flowers lend a surrounding quality again to remind you that you are not in bag of sugar, but a field of cane. overall it is unusual, lovely and something I have been reaching for as the weather gets warmer.

caramel and fig. yummy. if you like sweet, try Sugarwood.

This is so lovely. It's sweet, but not contemporary-designer/celebrity-scent-sweet. It has a soft tartness to it, that balances out the sweetness. Hibiscus is not listed as a note here, but to me the tartness smells a bit like hibiscus tea tastes like. It gives the scent a sour floral kind of feel. It smells of the sugar cane pulp, but also like the roots of the sugar cane plant. Something slightly green and earthy that gives the scent a little depth and substance. In the drydown the sweetness really comes out to play, the initial greenish tart freshness goes away, and I can smell something that reminds me of burnt sugar or caramel and animalic honey. It's so unique and amazing, I adore this scent!

It's just like it's name implies. Sugar and wood. Has a hint of pleasing citrus at the opening thanks to the bergamot. Flower notes come forward within minutes and the fragrance has a honey like quality from the fig. Even so, I don't find the sweetness too cloying and appreciate the cedar note which holds this fragrance back from venturing into candy territory. I think this makes a great summer fragrance and worth trying if a person appreciates sweeter fragrances.

Sweet enhanced by green notes and wood. Not quite like anything else, although it does remind me a little of TokyoMilk Honey and the Moon.

This is a big, toasted caramel type scent. It's essentially musk, vanilla, and some strong burned sugar notes that become increasingly honeyed as it settles in. The base is a standard dry, woody amber that's nothing to write home about, but serves the purpose of keeping the sugary notes elevated for a while. While this might hold some appeal for someone into the sweet gourmand genre, to me it smelled like a notched-up Bath and Body Works type scent.

Unless I received a "spoiled" decant, this smells much more sour sweet than anything smooth. There is a green vibe, but not as in fresh grass, more in the line of bulbous earthy roots that follows the sweet. I do get a woody, resinous layer coming through the dry down but I still can't get past that pungent sourness. I may have to revisit or discard which is too bad because the notes and the name sounded very enticing.

All of the reviews so far are right: this is a pleasant scent but not necessarily soemthing I would want to buy and wear. It's like sugarcane, with it's depth of sweetness mixed with some uplifting citrus at the start, then some figgy jammy-ness with a soft wood. It's nice and sort of interesting, but I won't buy it.

It reminds me fig jam after the citrus opening. Very very sweet, little bit woody. The vanilla here is well blended with other notes making a good choice for the sweet lovers. Not for my taste at all. :(

I really like this one. It's sugary and super fresh at the same time. It's like wearing a cool breeze (downwind of a sugar refinery). If you ask me, that sounds like a perfect summer.

Nothing special. Woody, sweet, light. The name actually describes it well. I wouldn't purchase it, but If I got this as a gift I would wear it.

It's pleasant but odd. On me the fig and cedar combine to yield fig newton--the juiciness just isn't there.
