Paperplane

I treated myself to this very latest release from one of my favorite brands. It finally arrived yesterday, so these are my very first thoughts on Paperplane. Paperplane is one of those quiet, personal scent that is almost not there yet floats about you very quietly. In that, the name makes sense. Applied to the top of my hand, the vetiver, cypriol/nagarmotha and pepper are more prominent and, with a very light incense note, they bring to mind a softer Encre Noire feel. Applied to the inside of my wrist, a soft musk and cotton flower take over and the vetiver combo is very quiet. For me, the musk-cotton-vetiver combo, brings to mind the smell of old dollar bills with a high cotton/linen content: a little musty and inky smell. Paperplane is not a fragrance that you wear to impress. This is a quiet personal fragrance that you wear for yourself. Like all of the CoSTUME NATIONAL fragrances it feels classy and self-confident... in an understated way.

Smooth pepper with incense. Clean, fresh. I'd say it's like take black pepper from CdG and cut the intensity in half and add paper

It smells clean and classy, I like it but longevity is very bad on my skin. After 1 hour, it completely disappeared.

Like a previous poster pointed out, this bottle reminded me of Escentric 01. That is mostly what I picked up.

Skin scent with weirdness built in. Paperplane is cotton flower and incense on a peppered paper trail.

Paperplane is a simple fragrance, perhaps a bit unusual but definitely not complex. The opening, I feel, is what Hermès was doing with Eau des Merveilles — a black pepper fragrance, but softer, drier, and totally inoffensive as it’s a skin scent. But just like with Eau des Merveilles, it does not work. Spices as skin scents feel and smell wrong, at least to me. The unusualness comes from a component that shows up at full force 50 minutes later: glossy magazine paper. I don’t like the combination, and cannot appreciate the “weird” note. Despite being a skin scent, Paperplane was holding strong even 9 hours in, at which point I had to take a shower so I can’t comment on ultimate longevity, but you’ll get at least 10 hours out of it if a black pepper and magazine paper skin scent sounds just up your alley.

To me personally this scent makes me feel depression. It smells like chopped up paper, very dust-like, chalky and bitter. It resembles some dusty 90s office, where you work in greyish enviroment and had to stand by printer copying documents all day. And your life is so damn grey and boring, you are depressed about how flat everything is. For most people who enjoy fragrances that smell like nothing, this might be right up your street. But imo there are other waaay better alternatives to fall into this paper-chalk-like scent category than Paperplane. Those superiors are: "Raku" by les Bain Guerbois and Diptyque "Eau Papier". So about the Paperplane... i dont like it. I have never smelled a fragrance that makes me feel as sad... 5/10

after smelling it then reading the description... i just have to roll my eyes. it goes absolutely nowhere and the sillage/longevity is so dismal

a very peppery musk, which with a light woody base does indeed bring to mind the smell of paper....and is as exciting as a blank sheet of paper.

Super nice incense intro that lasts for about 10-15 minutes. Like adding incense to Escentric 01, if it makes sense. After the initial 15 minutes, the main stage belongs to the sour and very earthy vetiver. The drydown is very, very close to Molecule 03. Not a groundbreaking scent but not bad either. For vetiver fans probably a must have, at least a couple of wearings worthy.

Hmm it has very cleaning product like smell.. like a hospital grade floor sanitiser!
