Desperate Housewives Forbidden Fruit

I wear this off and on (see my review below), especially during the summer. Today I was at a thrift store and there were several bottles of perfume for sale, one being, Sun Moon & Stars by K.Lagerfeld, which I have also previously owned. I was taken aback by the vintage bottle & smell that was coming from the dark blue bottle. It smelled so similar to DHFF! I think it may be a different formulation than I owned (of the SMS), because I never noticed the similarity before. It may be due to the similar notes making up both, including the sweet, powdery woody notes. They are both beautiful, and to me are perfect perfumes to wear in June. Unfortunately, there was only what appeared to be a few drops left in this bottle of SMS & the cap was broken, so I'll be trying to track down a vintage bottle of Sun Moon Stars, & always keep 1-2 bottles of DH in my stash. DH is very long lasting, sweet & has amazing full bodied silage. Give them both a shot...you may find your new summer muse in a fragrance. :)

I had read information/other reviews about this perfume and thought it sounded intriguing w/ notes that would be appealing to my taste in scent. I looked for it and found box after box on clearance at the store. I tried the sample and it is SO YUMMY! I don't usually go for super duper fruity scents, but this is not like candy fruits or a smoothie scent! Picture perfectly ripe green apples and some berries that are heady and rich...more like a delicious fruity Pinot gris wine. I bought two boxes and have brought decants to Mexico with me to use on our vacation's the past two summers. It has been the perfect scent to use and later has called up wonderful olfactory memories of our time as a family. Give it a try...it is different than any thing I have used so I can't really compare it to any other perfumes I am familiar with. I own Charlie Red & I guess I can smell that they are in the same genre (?) but CR has pineapple & tuberose which makes them part ways. Cheers!

This smells good in summer but is a little off. So I tried it now in winter and it is in it's full glory! This is a perfume! Like those of the 90's! It is loud and live! I love it, it's thick, it lingers, it's a puff cloud of red apple spicy with a shimmer of peach rounding it out. It is sexy and old lady and I love it! Too bad the new age likes the scents that don't develop or have any oomph to them. This is a late 80s early 90s type creation. And it lasts and lt sings a full song as it develops for hours! This is a real perfume! If I had to match this to the correct character on the show, I'd definitely say this is an "Edie" scent. I know someone in the comments below said "Brie" but only if this smelled the way it smells in the summer, cuz it's not in full bloom in the summer. It reveals it's true nature in the winter time and it is a scandal and is so Edie!

This really is delicious. A floral fruity for women of any age. I'm in my forties and I feel quite comfortable wearing this. A few years have passed since Desperate Housewives aired on our screens and I'll be honest, I was a regular watcher. I happened upon a lonely, battered box of Forbidden Fruit in a chemist and as I love a blind buy bargain, into my basket it went. I've worn it often, although not on the hottest summer days as it could be a bit too much, and it will take me through into autumn. It is similar to Charlie Red, however Forbidden Fruit features lily instead of tuberose. The apple is quite prominent and reminds me of the light freshness of Tommy Girl. I smell peach and sandalwood with a touch of vanilla, anchoring the lighter notes and giving a warm, fuzzy feeling. Overall a nice quality fragrance (just ignore the name if you're not a fan).

Oh, my! Gorgeous sister of Kenzo Flower, i swear it smells nearly identical! Creamy floral, not really fruity, unless we count the first 5 minutes. Very warm and most suitable for winter and cool evenings, it may be a bit too much for summer hot days :-) For such an inexpensive perfume it really does smell lovely - the staying power is slightly better than Kenzo Flower and the sillage is gentle but noticeable! If Ghost Serenity and Kenzo Flower rocks your boat, you have to try DH! For that low price you would be crazy not to :-) The bottle is very simple, practical and does look nice on my dresser table. Aside Shania by Stetson, it is one of my most wonderful ridiculously cheap buys! Definitely worth trying! P.S. It lasts forever on my clothes :-)

At first spray, I thought this smelled a bit cheap and harsh. But then it settled into something pleasant and even compelling. There is something about this fragrance that makes me continually sniff my wrists, perhaps because I'm trying to figure out what I'm smelling. After a few days of this, I've determined that I smell a combination of apple and potpourri. I think it has an 80's vibe to it, but not entirely. If you took those strong heady florals from the 80's and removed the sweet powder, you'd be left with something like this. I think this is unusual and I like it.

I could have sworn I reviewed this already. I purchased this last year. Reviews seemed positive and I paid something like £8.75 for a set of 3 mini 15ml sprays. It isn't at all what I expected. It certainly lasts much longer and smells more expensive than the price led me to believe it would. I thought I would get a cheap weak apple scent and got something much more mature. Opens with a blast of lily and apple pie. Wisteria and vanilla are hiding behind. It doesn't change much. For the price and even for more it wears very well and I like the small bottles. A cheap gem!

Love this! Tart fruit mixed with the floral element in that 90's drugstore perfume called Bistro. The lily I smell is Arum lily, not the peppery Stargazer. At the very end of its progression the fruity-floral balance somehow dries down to a very soft marshmallow floral nutty creaminess(but at this stage the perfume is very faint so don't buy it for the drydown as the perfume is only strong during the fruity-floral hours). Edit: I pulled this out after about a year and today it smells more synthetic than I remember and the drydown smells plasticky.

I Love this!!!! It's so beautiful. A friend gave it to me as a birthday present. I really enjoyed it. The aroma of apples is definitively within the scent. It's fresh but, at the same time a bit sensual. After I used that one up I bought another 2 more bottles! They are used up now so I need to get some more. Although I own quite a few perfumes I found that it was my go to perfume. I received so many compliments when wearing it all the time. Unfortunately, you have to go online to buy it now.

Update/ My sweet DIL wears the original (2013) SI by Giorgio Armani as her signature. The dry down of that on her smells identical to the dry down of Desp. Housewives on me. Same category & quality? No, of course not. But if you like a good vanilla-woodsy dash-o-musk (cedar, ambroxin) base and like Armani but are on a Quarantine budget, maybe try CDH & see what you think. I just bought 2 more bottles off of eBay because it stores & ages like a dream & also, I have a problem. 😭💕🤟 xo

Huge Surprise. I really love this scent. It's fruity, floral & woodsy with really nice creamy powdery vanilla. The floral makes me think of springtime when the wisteria is out. Must be a homage to Wisteria Lane ;) . I kept coming across this and kept passing it by. I don't know what I was thinking... I also have Charlie Red, but it doesn't remind me of it (on me) . To me it's if 5th Avenue met Hanae Mori with a hint of Mambo.

I enjoyed this perfume so much! It was perfect for fall days with mellow sunlight, bright leaves, and cozy sweaters. I only wish I had discovered it earlier; I caught this one in a Target clearance bin years ago, and soon afterwards, it was not to be found anywhere! And yes, I am a recovering perfume snob, but this was the one perfume that changed it all for me. I miss it!!! :'(

Sweet and fruity with a hint of old school. Reminds me a little of Revlon's CHERISH from 1996. Maybe a little bit like Yves Rocher perfumes, which I enjoy as well. Does not smell dated. I catch a whiff of lilac in the dry-down, even though none is mentioned in the notes.

This is definitely a nice floral fruity fragrance. It does not smell cheap at all. I've paid more for less as well. Especially with Rumba and Society Yachting, what a waste. This is worth a try. I give Desperate Housewives Forbidden Fruit a thumbs up!

I was given this perfume as a gift, and thought "thanks, but I'll put that in my cupboard and never use it". I mean, it was called Desperate Housewives! How good could it be? However out of politeness I sprayed some on, and was pleasantly surprised. It's not something I'd wear everyday, but it's not bad for a cheaper perfume. To me, it smells like lollies at first.... pink musk sticks and milk bottles. (sorry if you don't get the reference, it might just be an Aussie thing) Like kay_li13, I don't get any fruit notes except for maybe a fleeting glimpse of apple, that quickly disappears. What remains on me is the vanilla notes and the ylang-ylang/jasmine florals. It isn't heavy and cloying, and doesn't smell of chemicals like some cheaper perfumes. It's a bit like the many vanilla perfumes that came and went in the eighties, but not as strong. I wear it shopping, on placement, to classes... and of course when I visit the person who gave it to me ;-) It's nothing special, it's similar to others out there, but well worth the money for a day perfume. And I have to agree with Tala; the branding did it no favours. In fact, it put me off so much I wouldn't have tried it if the gift giver hadn't insisted I try it then and there. If you want a light, floral/vanilla scent that's not too expensive and will last your working day, go for it. You too might be pleasantly surprised!

This is a lovely scent that is perfect if you are wanting something light and fruity. It is a much more complex scent for a budget than you would think. Be sure to keep your scents nice and cool so that they last longer. Do not put these in the bathroom. When my husband got me the box set of Desperate Housewives I had balked. I didn't want to watch drivel like that. Well, I turns out that it was a great show. Inside was a sample of this fragrance. I instantly fell in love with it, and love to wear it around this time of year. I tend to mix/blend my scents around throughout the year. So in the Spring, I wear Jadore, this eventually blends with Jean Patou Joy into Summer. Once it is Full Summer I wear Joy by itself. Once the middle of Autumn hits, I add a spritz of Forbidden Fruit till the end of the month, then it is just Forbidden Fruit till the 22nd of September, then I add a spritz of Opium for Autumn. Eventually, the Forbidden fruit fades out, then it is just Opium till after Thanksgiving, then it is Poison. (Except for my birthday. I wear the Original Phantom of the Opera by Parlux. It is a whole affair, I have the lotions, and creams, and am down to my very last bottle of the shower gel.) I have had to buy several bottles of Joy (So sad that this is no longer made), and several bottles of Forbidden Fruit. I keep them in a small fridge so that they keep.

I struck lucky with this scent - found it cheap, cheap, cheap in the bargain bin in TK Maxx - and I just love this - it's so pretty - having said that, you need to take care not to overwhelm yourself in it - a tiny tiny spray is quite enough, but I cannot tell you how many people who have come closer for a better sniff! It is perfectly possible that the association with the show relegated this to the bargain bin- so many people liked Desperate Housewives, but how many of us wanted to smell like one of those loopy mares? This is one to decant into something pretty and act all coy and shy about where that scent came from - something expensive and exclusive - absolutely! I'm not usually a friend of fruity scents, but used in the right quantities, so pretty, so feminine, and this always makes me smile.

Simple, linear, office/church/crowd safe. Excellent choice as a young lady’s first fragrance. If you’re looking for depth and an unfolding story, this one is not it. But if you’re looking for fragrance to grab when you’re running late and in a hurry, this is as safe as you can get, and it still really enjoyable to wear. Longevity is fair: plan on reapplying after two hours. But for the price I paid, I don’t mind carrying it around and reapplying. A pleasant experience for me, and on some days, that’s satisfying enough. Excellent choice to spritz on your bed linens too as you relax and wind down.

After I heard about this scent and then read the favorable reviews online I decided I had to have it! The notes were right up my alley. I have to say it is one of the best blind buys I've ever made. I Love It! The peach, apple and orange really are the stars here, the vanilla & sandalwood is there to stop it from being too sweet. And then there's the wisteria flower thrown in.. which I think is whimsical ..we all know why it's there. And very importantly it lasts for hours! Excellent longevity.

On first sniff, you get some of the fruit, particularly apple. However, within a few minutes, this has dried down to a purely floral fragrance. It starts out promisingly, but eventually turns into a mature floral fragrance, fitting of the middle-aged women on the eponymous television show. If you are into "mature" florals, this is a great bang for your buck. If you have a more youthful sense of smell, something like the Jeanne Arthes Amore Mio line might be a better fit.

I didn ́t know that a commercial TV serial could have such a great perfume. Maby my expectations were low therefore my optimism. This perfume fills a small room but in a positive discreet way. It smells very feminine and clean. Like laundry and lipstick or a bunch of flowers and makeup. It has a really good longevity too. Last for at least 10 h on clothes. I dont like puting all these chemicals on my skin and therefore spray most perfumes on clothes.

A beautiful floral with excellent base (vanilla and sandalwood makes it mesmerizing). Do not go by the price of this beauty. The fruits in opening stay for few minutes and flowers blossom throughout the perfume even in the drydown. I am so glad I received this (a special thanks to Katoy4). I layered this with angel and it mellowed the sweetness of angel and brought best out of vanilla and tonka bean...

I used to wear forbidden fruit and received many compliments which really surprised me. But what put me off was not the perfume because I liked it how it smelled on me but that I was asked what I was wearing and I had to say "Forbidden fruit". Great perfume, great price nice bottle and packaging but shame about the name.

My ex gave me this in college and after we broke up I gave it away to a girl in my dormitory. Its not difficult for me to part ways with a fragrance if it is associated with a bad memory or someone/something I don't like. It was very unremarkable and loud.

This did NOT smell good on me. Not sure what note turned me off, but if I had to guess I would say it was the tonka among all of the fruits. Wish it could have just been sweet and floral. This was immediately gifted.

I got the 3.4 at a Mom and Pop store for only!!!$2.00 Dirt Cheap! I like the smell it last quite a while it goes on fruity but dries to a light Floral quite Nice!

Floral on me,I like the dry down to sandalwood and vanilla. I've paid more for less. Mad-Lainey's review persuaded me to invest and enjoy.

Dewy and juicy realistic jasmine with a cozy sandalwood drydown.This is a very garden fresh and nectary, almost menthol-cooling iteration of jasmine, with a lightly sweet and tangy feel thanks to the very '00s sweet and watery fruits. Manages not to smell like funeral flowers like most white floral fragrances do to me, but it's also pretty linear and generic. It's a safe blind buy but it's definitely not interesting. Absolutely nothing forbidden about it.

I'm on the fence with this one. This was a blind buy (was a cheapie and the Fragrantica reviews were good!)I'd tried it about three times before today, and to be honest, it had repulsed me! This was during the summer. Too sickly sweet! Strong, sugary vanilla AND synthetic apple AND overly syrupy jasmine! However... today is a bit cooler and I must admit, it has actually moved up in the ranks a bit. I found it too sweet once again during the opening, but remedied that by spraying a tarter floral on one of my wrists. This seemed to balance it. Then, after about 30 minutes, it developed into a softer, closer fragrance, with most of the sugariness flying the coup. I think this perfume is best suited to a more mature woman who enjoys sweeter, fruitier notes. And while it hasn't moved into the "love" category, I look forward to trying it again as the weather cools.

I bought this perfume because of its nice price, nice bottle and good revews. I can say that it's not exactly the type of perfume I like to wear. It smells like a medium qualit, usual and for every day use perfume. It reminds me of a perfume we used to wear with my mother, when I was a teenager, called 'Joie' (by Clochard). I am sure that my mother is going to adore it, so I will give it to her in a week or so, when I'll go and visit her. It will evoce memories. :)

I bought this fragrance yesterday and have been testing it since. It's really good, more akin to a designer than a budget fragrance. I especially love the subtle, almost musky dry-down (despite it not containing musk). The green apple opening is not my favorite part, but after that it turns into a warm, floral, feminine fragrance. It stays close to the skin, but lasts for a decent time. Would recommend.

Fragrance Review For Desperate Housewives Forbidden Fruit Top notes orange blossom, peach apple Middle notes lily wisteria, jasmine ylang-ylang Base notes sandalwood, tonka bean, vanilla cedar Cheap as hell but very delicious and lovely fruity floral fragrance. It does seem hastily done, like the nose wanted to commercialize this scent while the popular TV soap was still on the air. I watched Season 1 and stopped watching it after that. I also enjoyed a similar show Devious Maids by the same creator. Desperate Housewives opens with what smells like fruit shampoo. Straight up fruit shampoo. It's got a big green apple scent. It's delicious and smells just like green apple. There is also a sweet peach. The fruit introduction is what makes this scent so cheap. I found the rest of the fragrance's performance to be much better. It becomes floral with wisteria (ha they throw that note in there because Wisteria Lane is the location of the show) white lilies jasmine and ylang-ylang. I found it to be more of a white floral scent and the lily was dominant. Wisteria is not commonly found as a note in floral fragrances. It's a synthetic recreated scent that smells like lilac. I do like lilac and any purple flower really so this was enjoyable. Everything in the head and heart notes are chemically formulated recreated synthetic scents. The base appears to have more of the real stuff. It's got vanilla and woods. But these are very good base notes. Vanilla gives it a powder and longevity and creaminess. The sandalwood my favorite basenote ever is also releasing a very good aroma. But the base notes are not really that hefty either. The longevity is an issue. I thought it was too short lived at about 3-4 hours. But its a sweet fruity floral. Not complaining. It is a very nice perfume. Feminine, not unisex, easy to wear, inoffensive and light, you can wear this to work, you can wear this anywhere. PS Teri Hatcher wouldn't be caught dead wearing this but if she did I'm sure it would smell beautiful on her. I've smelled this on other women before (that's how I found about it's existence) and always smells great on women. This receives compliments. It's perfect to wear after a shower and to get you through your day.

Im a huge fan of the show Desperate Housewives and im a perfume lover so because of that i really have wanted to try this for quite a while. I finally found a seller on ebay that shipped to Sweden so i bought the super tiny 15ml bottle for about $8. Usually when fruits and gormand accords are mixed with florals i don't percieve them as smelling edible as so many comment here about,i do however get a extremly juicy and fruity scent in the topnotes of this that are absolutely delicous smelling but unfortunetely it only lasts for about 5 minutes. After the initial fruit burst in the opening of the fragrance the heart of it starts to show and it's all floral with a slight hint of vanilla,this is however the stage of the scent that i like the least as i think that the floral part of the fragrance almost smell a little to mature for my taste which is a little dissapointing to me since i otherwise actually really like this fragrance. Another positive thing about this is that the vanilla in here is seriously the nicest creamiest vanilla that i have ever smelled in a fragrance i absolutely love it. So all in all i think this is a decent smelling fragrance that i will only use every now and then but i actually love the fruity opening and the creamy vanilla i only wish they could've changed the floral combo in this because then it would be amazing and a absolute winner to me.

At the height of the success of the hit TV drama Desperate Housewives I bought this fragrance. Even then it was a drug store affordable fragrance and it's selling at under 20 bucks on Amazon.com. I wore it back in 2006 when it was first released but used it up very quickly. It almost became my signature scent. I bought it again out of nostalgia. Some would call this a cheap, boring fruity floral scent but I think it's lovely. It's a fragrance to wear during the day, soft, inoffensive, casual. Here in Florida where I live this fragrance is right at home in the warm weather. To me it smells like a little garden in someone's backyard, not a lush amazing garden, but a suburban simple garden which is just as pretty. Starts with orange blossom, peach and green apple. The apple is the strongest accord. I guess this is the "Forbidden Fruit" in the fragrance's moniker. The heart is floral with wisteria because of course Wisteria Lane is the location of the TV show. It's a soft wisteria though and not real wisteria extract. It's the perfumy fake version of wisteria but it's nice. There's jasmine and ylang-ylang. Vanilla at the base makes it very sweet. This is a soft sweet scent. Nothing to rave about but not bad either. Affordable price. You'll smell really nice. I'm satisfied with this little beauty and it has a place in my wardrobe with more expensive fragrances.

I am definitely not impressed with this perfume, but it is okay. I was not sure when I saw the notes, but well, I was a big fan of the show and saw the 100ML bottle at like 20$ on Fragrancebuy so I decided to give it a try along with other fragrances. Honestly, with the top notes, I expected it to be fresher and more fruity... I do not smell fruits in this juice at all. To me, it is a floral bomb, very mature that my mom or grandma could wear without a problem. I thought it'd be more of a daytime fresh scent due to the women in the program. If I'd have to name the scent with a character of the tv show, I'd name it after Bree for sure. The lasting power is awesome though, almost too strong. Definitely not a scent to wear during summer days, but it is alright in a party where everybody wears perfume and you want to be noticed! ;)

I agree that this is an excellent "cheapo," and again it reaffirms my sense that the generic designers are terribly overpriced (I often prefer the cheapos to them!). Also, this is nearly unisex, so long as you don't mind "fresh" florals (I don't perceive these as "feminine" florals, such as tuberose). If you can wear Insense, I don't see why you would find this too "feminine," for example. The listed notes are spot on as well, so if you like those, I would be very surprised if this one disappointed you! Over time, it dries out, presumably due to the wood notes, and a tobacco-like quality emerges, with some similarities to Diesel Green Feminine.

This is actually a very nice perfume. Too bad for the name. It is not a kind of perfume you want to leave behind in the powder room. The dry down is very similar to burberry and the initial spray smells a little like delicious by Donna Karen. I wear it sometimes and enjoy it. But I seriously think the name and association with the show was what made did wonderful perfume not to sell. I have found some bargain prices on this one and really love mine. I just wont leave it around when my mother in law is visiting.

... Someone misnamed this perfume because the floral scent was so overbearing that I could not understand why the word "fruit" was anywhere in the title. I was very disappointed by this because I thought a perfume titled "forbidden fruit" would smell delicious, irresistible, and unique. However, I didn't smell peach or apple in the top notes, instead I got this really strong bouquet of flowers, like dried popouri flowers that you can get from the drugstore. Would not purchase this. :(

Lightweight wearable ultra inoffensive fruity floral jasmine/lily scent that opens with tart apple which blends quite nicely into a creamy almost vanilla/sandalwood/peach combo backing up the florals. This isn't bad at all, especially not given the price. The opening is short lived, and the dry down is subtle, nice... like the smell of baking pie wafting into a spring garden. It's neither cool nor warm, a little of both. Something about the vanilla reminds me of Casmir by Chopard.

I love the tv show and I love this perfume it is sensual fruity and quite refeshing it's a great summertime fragrance if you mixed together Susan, Bree,Lynette,Gabrielle and Edie this is what you get sweet,ladylike,strong,sensual & saucy just like all the desperate housewives in one fragrance I think they capture their essence perfectly and Forbidden Fruit is the perfect name for it all in all I really like it myself but I am a friuty floral girl.

gave this to my mum as a gift last year as she was very sad when the show was over.it is almost full-100ml bottle.this year when i came on holiday i started using it at home-delicious.i wear it around the house and it is just yummy.i use it along with my parisienne by ysl body lotion.brings out the fruitiness in both.just love it.a v cheap but worthy buy.

I tried this fragrance in a perfume oil first, and I was very pleasantly surprised! I love that I can wear it to the office, and for a night out. Everytime I wear it men stop me to ask what my fragrance is. The pricetag was astounding for such a nice fragrance. Low price, but not low quality. One of my signatures!

Okay disclaimer **I love this show** Also it does not cloud my judgement on scent. This is Boozy fruity and dare I say better than most in this area , I am not kidding. Think a grown up less boozy Vera Wang Rock princess. I am glad I let my snootiness go to spend $10 on a bottle

I grabbed this out of a bargain bucket with the intention of giving it to my daughter.....but I tried it and its really rather nice!! (so I`m having it lol) good for a day when you are not too sure.Give it time though-smells really odd when you first spray it.

Was expecting something a little more 'naughty and mischievious'. This doesnt live up to its name, nothing forbidden or remotly cheeky about it. They should have named it "Baked Delights by Martha Stewart" instead.

Very nice perfume but not one of my signature scents either. This is very pretty though. Fruity and floral.
