Stetson Black

This was one of my first fragrances from my college days, and it still puts a smile on my face. It brings back so many great memories! My girlfriend at the time LOVED it. Every time I was going to see her I put this great juice on. Wearing it now takes me back to those great times and I'll never get tired of it. Yes, it's cheap but don't let the price fool you. It smells amazing, like sweet woods. A very manly, pleasing smell that nobody could ever dislike! Longevity is above average and projection is average, which in my opinion is about perfect. 10/10

Cheap but very nice smelling fragrance. Woody and spicy, with a certain sweetness that's not overpowering but manages to maintain a masculine vibe. If you have not tried it, you should. Performance is pretty bad, it becomes a skin scent after a couple of hours, and dissipates into nothingness after 4hrs. But for the price, it's hard to find faults. You can reapply (did I say it's cheap?), or use the opportunity to switch up your game mid-day.

Absolutely LOVE this. Great summer scent for me, feels very watery/creamy fresh. Reminds me of Palo Santo products by Cremo. Cheap, and widely available. Highly recommend

One of the cheapest of the cheapies, but worth reviewing because it smells so good! BUT... the second it touches my skin, it isn’t the same. Lavender? Suede? It’s too bad that wonderful smell doesn’t translate to skin. I sprayed maybe 10 times on my shirt AND skin, and I can’t smell anything after a few minutes. Granted, this bottle is old (original from 2005), so maybe it’s just TOO old. But I honestly believe, if this fragrance recipe was re-created by Chanel or Hermes, using oils and ingredients that would last more than a few minutes, it might be in my Top 10 favorite fragrances of all time. But as a weak Coty cheapie, no. You really do get what you pay for.

I just picked up a bottle for $9 and so far it's pretty good. It's a little sweeter than I thought it would be, but not sickeningly sweet. Right now this is a soft like, but with more wearings it could woo me into the love category. I would recommend it, but I would suggest sampling first if possible. I'm getting about 6hrs off 4-5 sprays, but it is an EdC so I wasn't expecting killer longevity. Update: After more wearings I have grown to really like Black. I would say this is a hard like moving into the love category. The dry down reminds of 80's hair mousse. Call me crazy

Stetson Black is very different from the original Stetson, it's hard to believe these two scents come from the same "family". Black is quite sharp in the beginning, then it quickly calms down to a aromatic, slightly herbal note. It's a good scent, although not as unisex as the original. Black very wearable esp. considering the low price, it certainly doesn't smell cheap. It's also longer lasting than the original Stetson.

On its own, it's fine if nothing special, but I have a sandalwood/cedar deodorant and a bourbon/cedar body soap, with which this makes an excellent top layer. It's pleasantly manly and clean-smelling without being offensive or overpowering, and it's an outstanding value for its low price, too. Lacks the honey/vanilla/floral sweetness of the classic Stetson, so it comes out feeling a bit more "rugged".

This cologne has a strange fruity/berry smell in the background. Overall it is dominated by the scents of leather, suede, and synthetic woodsy notes. The smell is predominately sweet and fairly dark. Not bad for the price but nothing really too special, either. On me, this stuff stays noticeably for hours, and usually still smells pretty strong, even 5 or so hours later. I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

I was happy with this when I picked it up over a year ago. I wanted something different to wear when my usual body spray got tiresome. Doesn't last for too long, and isn't the best smell in the world, but if you had to buy something at wal-mart, it's not bad. Smell 2.5/5 Performance 2.5/5 Buy Again? No...It's just a little too weak.

As much as I adore the OG, I just might like this one a tad bit more. There are definite Fahrenheit vibes, but ultimately it’s just a solid manly cologne. Something you don’t have to think twice about. Spray it on and you’re ready to face the day. Performance is great and the price is even better.

One of my favorite cheapies... Bought this looking for something more...cowboyish. This was just what I needed! I throw this on when i'm headed out to the woods or the archery range. I wish I'd discovered this when I was in my 20s instead of my 40's...lol

First thing I thought of was Fahrenheit. Then I smelled something citrus and woodsy. It does smell inexpensive but I like it a lot. This is the only Stetson I will wear and the aftershave balm is very soothing and fragrant. Nice job on this one Coty.

I've had Stetson for a long time. It's been giving to me for Christmas and birthdays several times and I always liked it. Probably the only cheap cologne I actually like. The scent is nice and woodsy

This started me on my perfume addiction. I got a re-gifted x-mas gift. Lol. I've been through 6 bottles, it's been very hard to find in Canada for the last 6 or 7 years.

Like a rich, New York City capitalist from the 1800's, dressed in the finest suits, stays in the finest suites, samples the finest sweets.

I have the after shave, which to me is simply a weaker imitation of Dior's Fahrenheit. Not bad, not great.

The "poor" mans DIOR Fahrenheit!.........OR is Fahrenheit the "rich" mans Stetson BLACK??!!

It is what it is (cheap) and smells like it, but for $5 at Dollar General for 2.5 fl. oz. of emergency glove box-worthy "body fragrance" you could do worse. In fact, it may remind one of a leather-esque car air freshener in that it dries down so meek, passive, and utterly inoffensive that it'll be fine for year-round use. Plus it's cheaper than any of the cans of Axe sitting right next to it (I say cheaper, not necessarily better). Oh yes...for about ten seconds, right up front, it does bear a very slight resemblance to Fahrenheit. But be advised that those ten seconds are the absolute limit of it. Do not buy this expecting it to be anything close to a passable replacement for Dior. It isn't. Perhaps the non "body fragrance" version is better but original, vintage Stetson, never a favorite of mine, is still superior to Black, if only because it's got more going on.

Coty or now Scent Beauty Stetson Black is a fragrance that smells nice but fits into a wheelhouse that a good number of fragrances do as well. Stetson Black tried to do what Dior Fahrenheit does for cheap. Mind you, it isn't bad. I have smelt much much worse (Curve Black anyone?) However, there are others better in the pack. This even goes for a new Stetson flanker, Stetson Legend. Stetson Legend adds to the woody leather scent by adding smokiness to it. I would not be surprised if Stetson Black will be discontinued. I'm not saying it already is (it is still listed on Scent Beauty's website for the Stetson brand after all) but fragrance houses typically don't make fragrances that smell like an existing fragrance unless it is a limited edition. Stetson Legend has no such marketing. If you like Stetson Black, stock up and also try Stetson Legend.

This smells really good. It almost smells like Polo Black with a splash of Davidoff Cool Water. It’s piney, clean, dark, and musky all at the same time. There’s one problem. It doesn’t last. It’s more of a “shaving” fragrance. Edit--This does not smell like Fahrenheit, I don't know what I was thinking.

This used to be a cheap banger... no longer. I got this the first time in 2018 and my mother in law wanted to eat me up... fast forward .....bought this again around 2023 and it’s a dud! Whatever they did reformulated or I don’t know.. it’s over.

Not sure how this is “cowboyish”. Mostly cheap sweet and fruity musks. Nothing outdoorsy (pine, dirt, moss, etc) or leathery and very synthetic smelling.

Its like Fahrenheit if it smelt like cucumbers instead of gas.

Inexpensive drug store fragrance with middling performance like you'd expect. I kinda liked it initially, but every time I'd wear this it would turn absolutely acrid on my skin after an hour or so. Sour and unpleasant. I think it has something to do whatever chemical they use to make that faux suede note. I don't think it smells like Fahrenheit but it's in the same ballpark. Kinda peppery, kinda leathery, a little spicy. This is a case of "getting what you pay for".

I was looking for the suede notes, but all I really got was a sort of sour, pungent note on my skin right away with this one. My wife thought it smelled cheap on me. Original Stetson is much better.

I detest powdery scents on men. This one IS a lot nic er than regular stetson though.

Has an extremely modern, sickly axe style smell. I’ve never experienced any fragrance like this, but it literally makes me sick when I get a whiff. Like I start sweating, get light headed, and feel like I’m going to be nauseous. I feel like that’s likely personal and I doubt you have the same experience, though I’ve never had this happen with any other fragrance. It’s happened both times I’ve worn it. If you can handle it, it would make for a mediocre gym cologne. Smells like a 2x more powerful axe.

I haven't had this in years. I love this cologne it's one of the best cheap colognes out there. It's manly woodsy and powdery with a spicy kick. It's a simple cologne and it's a safe buy it only costs something like 12 dollars so it's not like blind buying an 80 dollar bottle of *for example* Gucci then not liking it and all that money is wasted. Basically what I'm saying is give it a shot it's a small bottle and it's cheap also I'd like to add that it lasts all day and it has great projection.

On skin and clothing I can smell this for at least 24 hours, I can spray it on in the morning and smell it on my skin the next morning. Strangely the citrus is dominant the whole time. I get anosmic to scents very quickly except for this and quorum by Puig, the latter is the only fragrance that has ever made me tap out and change my clothes from over spraying

A buddy of mine used to wear this perhaps it was due to the humid hot climate we live in but it reeked! I have never tried to change peoples minds about their preferences with perfumes but I HAD to tell hm to change it! Very Spicy-sweet and leathery! Yuck! Perhaps if you have the right chemistry and the weather is appropriate it would work.

Smells great on me. Very grassy/woody and I think I'm picking up a bit of lemon. Definitely a masculine fragrance. Longevity is pretty poor. 3-4 hours max. Sillage is moderate. Overall a great scent that, unfortunatley just doesn't last. Shinfo: this smells great when combined with Kroger brand lemongrass and basil hand soap.

The snobs hate it which is why I love it! Its always nice to wear a fragrance snobs would never wear. Especially when they're wearing some expensive oud type fragrance that smells like dog shit to most people. My $25 cheapie kicks their $400 per bottle ass.

this is really not a bad scent i have smelled worst lol it is safe, around xmas you can get a gift set for about 20 bucks i would buy this for a son going on his first date lol you can wear this just to have something to wear

I saw a 100ml bottle of Stetson Black at Macy's Backstage. It was sealed in the box/wrapper, so I decided to take a chance and just buy it @ $16. This is very pleasant! Smooth and masculine.

Sandalwood and Lavender are my two be-cautious scents, but yet I undoubtably like this. If you kind of like original Stetson but think it's a little bland, you should try this out.
