Vanilla Fields

"Spicy warm vanilla 'pistachio'" ...Am I trying the same thing that these other reviewers are trying?? The ones that are not so complimentary?? Because I LOVE this. I actually just purchased a set of "Classic" Coty frags in a gift set from Walgreens (included Vanilla Fields, Jovan Musk, Sand & Sable, and Ex'clam'ation) and I'm really very impressed by all of them. None of them smell particularly "cheap" or synthetic to me. But the only one I've wear-tested so far is Vanilla Fields and I have to say, I really love it. Over on the Hanae Mori page, reviewers are going on and on about how it smells just like Vanilla Fields, and I'll give them that it IS very reminiscent...but they are not exact dupes by any stretch. Because I'm a dork, I decided to do some side by side comparisons.... Both of them are described in Fragrantica as "sweet, balsamic, woody" so there's that. VF is described additionally as "powdery, vanilla, aromatic" whereas HM is "fruity, yellow floral" with NO notes of vanilla (although there is a very strong vanilla impression). I would argue that HM is also powdery even though it's not listed as such. The notes that both frags share are jasmine, Virginia cedar and sandalwood, so that basic DNA must hold some big sway here. Then, even though the top notes are different, you get a "green/nutty/woody" sense from the almond tree note in HM which, along with the ylang ylang, must be what is giving the strong vanilla-like impression. Combined with all the berries (blueberry, blackberry, strawberry & black current), I get a strong strawberry cheesecake vibe (love this). But over on the VF side, the coconut and peach are giving off the same sweet juiciness that HM's berries have. Then of course you've got the floral heart, which for VF are very "green" herbaceous flowers of geranium and lily-of-the-valley (HM's herbaceous feeling is probably from the nutty almond tree note, although I would say it's not as "green" as VF is), and HM has the peony and rose, which compliment the strawberries beautifully. So all in all I would say, if you love one, you will definitely appreciate, if not also love, the other. Of course VF's price point is so low, and this is so readily available at drugstores (in the U.S. at least), you can't go wrong to at least try it out. I'm very glad that I did, because I'm truly digging it. It's lasted a very, VERY long time on me. Like I can smell it clearly the next day type of longevity. Depending on your sweet tooth, I guess I could see this turning some people off with it's sweetness...but I am wearing this at the beginning of December...in Texas. Cold one day, warm the next. And I'm totally fine. Excited to try out the other Coty scents I have!

Having acquired two vintage bottles of Vanilla Fields I've had two completely different reactions to a perfume I've never used before. The first bottle was a horrible smell that eventually morphed into a semi-respectable version of a synthetic vanilla. I wondered what all the fuss was about. And then I happened upon my second bottle, tested it, and found out. No wonder people speak so highly of this little gem! These are vanilla fields, hot with a charred log on the fire smell, when the fire needs to be tended because it's gone too low, only embers are showing with the darkness of the burnt logs. Sure you have a few moments of alcohol whizz to wait through, but once you get through that, then Vanilla Fields begins its journey. The fire needs to be resumed and you're in dire need of replenishment leaves and twigs. It's dark and late, you're foraging and all you find are leaves on the damper side, leaves that have been rotting for awhile, but they'll do with the twigs to spark the dead fire. It comes to life with smoke, the smoke of the fire yet you still have the smell of the wet decayed leaves on your gloves. This is primitive camping at night, late fall, a crisp 40 something degrees and you sit back, a job well done, inhaling the woods around you, the fire in front of you and the forests smell on you. For a very inexpensive perfume, it's worth the try. It has never given me a true vanilla flavor, whether back in the day or now with these two bottles and that's what chemistry is all about. Vanilla Fields seems more about a patchouli woods experience, a very light synthetic vanilla base. A cold weather scent that works very differently for me, and that's what perfume is all about, too. There is a world of difference between "smoke" and "burnt" and both can be equally appreciated in perfumes, especially in the cooler or cold weather months. "Smoke" evokes images of fires and fireplaces, hearths with cinders and smoke curling up chimneys. "Burnt" brings to mind the aftermath of the fire, the logs burnt and charred, blackened with dense smoke. Equally pleasurable, both distinct. No florals for me here, but there are some slightly musky undertones mixed in with the woods. Winds down after roughly five to six hours at the minimum and projection is quite good for an inexpensive drugstore classic. I really do enjoy that charred smell, it's quite different. I could mix in some vanilla with it, but I'm not one to mix my perfumes. I like to let them stand on their own.

So, day four of my nostalgia trip, how did my teenage favorite hold up? After the let downs of Sand & Sable and Jovan Musk (for women) I'll admit, I was worried...and...I didn't need to be. From spray #1 Vanilla Fields brought back all the memories I had hope it would. Friends at church...middle school dance...my first baby date at the AMC...🥰 So first spray: like the first three it's a bit weaker than it used to be. That's par for the course though, and in no way was this one a let down. Immediately the wave of light florals, toasted coconut and warm vanilla hit. Then after about 30 minutes I picked up a refreshing woody + patchouli scent. It marries to the lighter florals and heady vanilla. It lasted until about hours 3-4 and I reapplied at hour 5, not necessarily because I needed to but because I very much wanted to. I got a few compliments while I was out and my husband told me how nice he found it too. I always enjoy a good, "Ooohh, what're you wearing today?" I reapplied a bit heavily before bed and it's a really nice sleeping scent. It's still in my sleeping shirt a bit. Very comforting to me. 💖 So the run down of this Coty 4 pack: Worth it entirely for Exclamation and Vanilla Fields. The set and the perfumes on their own are so affordable you can't really go wrong. I also spoke to my sister and she mentioned she bought an individual bottle of Sand & Sable and she actually found it to be too strong. So, did I just get a couple of duds in my set? Honestly they're so affordable I may purchase them separately in the future to retest. Vanilla Fields is certainly getting repurchased in the future. I may even spring for an old bottle since they're still pretty plentiful. It's nice when things live up to your memories of them. 💕💃🏻🤸🏻

I've been having a hard time thinking of a way to review Vanilla Fields because of bittersweet associations. I could write a book about it but I'll keep it short. Here it goes! This was my absolute favorite in high school and it represents some of the most tumultuous times of my life. As with most teen fragrance in my life I smelled this on a friend and thought it heavenly! I said "you smell like vanilla! and she in her special "I resent you" way just raised one eyebrow and smiled. We were serious frenemies. We always had a fantastic time together and competed mercilessly. I think she loved me as much as I loved her despite the time I scratched her contact lens out. I won't say all the things she did to me incase she's reading this! I made a mental intention to get a bottle for myself because I loved it so much. She thought I did it to bug her. For the first time that wasn't true. I was crushed when I realized it would never smell as good on me as it did on her! That's okay I started dating her boyfriend the moment they broke up. No! not really! yes,no,ya. What?! I really kind of looked up to her but she would be forever breaking my heart. The beginning notes have changed a little and it went less rich but the dry down is still close enough to the origanal to evoke sour sweet memories. Not all vanilla but also a wonderful warm oriental for Fall. Since high school I have never been without Vanilla Fields in my entire life. I think it may be gone now but when I run out I will lift every stone on eBay to find a vintage bottle and if I fail I'll buy the newer version. I can't imagine ever being without it.

SOLAR VANILLA, bergamot and cashmere woods come together in this timeless classic. Opening burst of vanilla-coconut fruity florals deepens to a balsam shampoo vibe that settles out onto a slightly soapy, tonka-amber base. Takes a few weeks after first sprays to blossom. In the air there is a slight beachy vanilla vibe, and on the skin I get the bergamot-tonka (which reminds me just a little of Shalimar EDT) and lily of the valley. Overall: with average or above average performance, this affordable and versatile classic makes a great 'dumb reach' for the beach. Although the beach is where I could see myself wearing this it really could be worn by anyone for any occasion. Enjoy! Comparison to Hanae Mori Hanae Mori: Although these have been compared I find them very different. They both may be woody vanillas, but Hanae Mori is more vanilla forward and a heavier, smooth and sweet blend of vanilla woods & creamy yellow florals and doesn't have the solar or sharp qualities from bergamot and Lily of the Valley present here. Update 07/17/24: It's been quite awhile since I sniffed this, so I sprayed it twice on my forearm today. Coconut is more forward now than I remember, with a hint of bergamot, and the musky-woody vanilla-tonka base swelling through. This definitely reminds me of summer in the 90s. In addition to it being a very solar/summery vanilla, it really shines in warm weather and needs the skin imo, to be at its best.

The opening here smells like Pez candies! Kind of a dusty, verging on chalky texture. The fruitiness is primarily citrus to my nose, the way it combines with the fuzz of the clean white musk probably is what creates this sensation. I do enjoy this stage, but I'm thankful when it develops away from it...because... the drydown! The drydown is where this is at! There's more LOTV to my nose than other florals, it's graceful, classic and...yes, a little grandma-chic. It's a vase of LOTV arranged next to a warm, steamy bowl of cream-of-rice. Vanillic, slightly lactonic, lightly spiced. A window is open, allowing the scent of vegetation and woods to freshen the air. Somewhere nearby hangs laundry to dry, the clean musk is a familiar and soothing background aroma. It's homey, evocative, welcoming and pretty. It's a little "country"", a little down-home. It certainly doesn't smell modern, which is a positive in my mind, the ingredients have a vintage feel to them. The entire time testing this I kept getting the feeling that I've smelled this before, though I'm almost certain nobody in my circle ever wore it. It's *quaint* in every sense of the word, and elicits an acute sense of nostalgia. I didn't expect loving this even half as much.

This is a wonderfully done non-edible floral vanilla/tonka braced with green notes. As it dries down, a chewy tonka comes to the fore on my skin, reminding me strongly of Dior Addict (2014). It is NOT a dupe for Addict but close enough that I am putting off buying a bottle. The jasmine is there and noticeable but it is so well-blended. There is nothing discordant about this fragrance, no jarring notes. Everything is exactly where it needs to be. I do not get amber on me. As it dries down, I get more jasmine/Tonka. Wow! This is good stuff. I see where many reviewers refer to this as a warm fragrance, which just shows how different the same scent can smell or be interpreted by different people. On me, this is a very cool vanilla. This does not smell gourmand, at all. This is a no-nonsense vanilla that is more about being in charge than being cute and sweet. I never thought I would say this about a $13 WalMart bargain perfume (not that I'm a snob, I like many of them) but I LOVE this! UPDATE 20170713 I just ordered a bottle of eau de perfume to compare to the cologne spray I have. I'm very interested to see if I will be able to tell a difference. Will add a second review if there is any difference worth noting.

This perfume was a gift from my mother. I don't wear it often, because the patchouli makes me itch and sneeze, and also because I wore it in a casino once in Reno for a few hours and smelling it too long makes me feel vaguely nauseous. Even so, I can't get rid of it. And for some strange reason, I can't stop wearing it. Every so often, I pull this fragrance out again. The scent has a nostalgic quality that I can't quite put my finger on, but is nonetheless cozy and comforting. It's a warm vanilla scent, slightly creamy and slightly spicy. The patchouli gives it a little herbal oomph. It's sweet and a bit powdery, but this isn't an edible vanilla. If you love vanilla, but hate the gourmand trend, definitely give this gem a try. It smells very distinct, and unlike many other vanillas on the shelves. Edit to add: I read a review that said this perfume smells exactly like an aged paperback book, and that is so correct! That's the perfect way to describe this fragrance. If you have ever smelled the pages of a cheap pulp paperback book from the 70s or 80s, that's exactly what this perfume smells like! (And explains the comforting, nostalgic quality I mentioned above.)

I have never read less helpful notes listing. Ignore them. To ME, this isn’t a sweet vanilla at all. It’s a dry, candle or room spray type of vanilla, not gourmand. I can’t perceive any coconut, sandalwood, or patchouli. I get vanilla, musk, and vague green notes that might be grassy or floral, depending on how recently you’ve sprayed it. There’s a slight woody scent, probably cedar, but it’s very well-blended. The vanilla is like the vanilla in MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver. The wet-smelling green/floral is like the green notes in Aura by Mugler. The musk is a soft musk like DK Cashmere Mist. I agree with the folks who say this smells much more expensive than it is. I think the name is perfect. It smells like a soft, cuddly, vanilla musk and a dewy field at the same time. I don’t think it smells modern or dated— just unique. I love it. It would be great for a school, office, or customer service job because it’s strong enough to be smelled without overwhelming those around you. I think Vanilla Fields might be great for people who get bored with the run-of-the-mill perfumes and tend to seek out more adventurous niche fragrances.

This is one of my drugstore favorites. Vanilla Fields is Coty's warm season vanilla in contrast to Vanilla Musk being for the cold seasons. Vanilla Fields makes me think of the transition from the dog days of summer to the autumn. It is like walking through of field of hay and sweetgrass that has been baked golden by the sun, and there are a few lingering flowers scenting the air. It is not a pretentious fragrance -- think more of a woman in a flowing flower printed dress, well-denim jacket, and old cowboy boots walking down a dirt road in the country. Please be aware that, like many fragrances of the 80s and 90s, the first spray is a scary mess, but transitions to sweet flowers with a hint of coconut. The dry down is a powdery, woody vanilla. Spray this before you go out and avoid touch up sprays in public if you can. This is an intimate fragrance, so do not expect a cloud of scent. The fragrance does not last long, but that can be helped by layering it with a dry vanilla or matching florals.

I was reminded of this fragrance a few days ago, and could remember how much I loved getting a VF sample in my YM magazine. I rebbed that scratchy add all over my arm and absolutely loved the scent. I also recalled my freshman year when a boy on the bus went on and on about how much guys love vanilla scents. I felt then like I COULDN'T buy it because he'd think I was wearing it for him. Well, many, many years have passed, and I'm very happy to finally be the oner of this retro classic. It smells the same as I remember it, and I'm wondering if it could because my new go‐to. I absolutely love this scent, and not just for the nostalgia. To me, it smells soft and powdery, with lovely Tonka bean woody notes. Vanilla isn't the first note that comes through, as others have mentioned, but it is present and blends so well with the floral. This is so affordable that there's really no reason not to give it a try. Hope you love it too

I don’t know if have this one or the vanilla fields winter, this was my great grandmothers so the version I have is very vintage. It has the amber colour to it, has no spray (You put it directly on), it has no writing except for the little sticker at the bottom which says vanilla fields and it is decorated in what looks like wheatgrass. It doesn’t smell the same from the bottle, a bit potent but when u put it on the skin, it is incredible. I think this is what an elegant amber vanilla fragrance should smell like. It’s certainly a classic fragrance, you would think it would be from a high end brand like Dior or Chanel. It’s definitely a head turner and I think cause it’s not from a well known brand it should be gatekeeped. I think it’s special because it’s not something you would usually smell and not many people wear it. It will stand out and that’s what makes it great. 10/10

Smell as old as I am! I did not know that smell, or so I thought. Recently, I have mania for buying interesting perfume. I found on the vanilla fields Allegro accidentally, as I like the small capacity tempted to capacity 11 ml. The smell completely stunned me, even though I got it the first time invoked memories of my childhood, I think anyone around me must have used this perfume, maybe aunt or cousin, I have no idea, but I smell so 90's. On the first day of use all day admiring the wrist smelled the aroma. The same composition in terms of fragrance notes is at least interesting and rich. In addition to the vanilla we have my beloved musk, which gives depth and sensuality + many more notes that create an interesting composition. Some people may think it is a little heavy and overpowering. Persistence is good, although my version vf is cologne.

This was my secret signature for years. I could not go anywhere without getting complimented and asked about what I was wearing. 25 plus years later, I grabbed a bottle and sprayed it.... STILL HOLDS UP! Beautiful and perfectly blended. 5 people complimented me the first day. Do the test, spray on skin and shirt, do not tell anyone what it is.. and I promise you everyone will love it. Smells great on anyone. Sidenote I have Vanilla scents ranging from $400 to in this case $13 and this is the most loved. Small scent bubble and you will need to reapply but for $13 that's no big deal. Anyone with an old bottle that has oxygenated is not going to experience the true smell, so grab a new bottle to enjoy.

My mom had a perfume that smelled very close to this, when I was a child (it was Casmir Chopard). This perfume brings back so many comforting memories of watching my mom get ready for a night out. I see comments saying this isn't truly vanilla smelling, but to me, it smells like you took some pure, real vanilla extract and poured a few drops of it onto some freshly chopped cedar wood. This is what makes it almost a unisex smell. It smells very rich and warm, woody and vanilla-y. It definitely isn't a 'girly' gourmand vanilla, its much more complex. It smells like a very interesting mysterious person would wear this. My boyfriend says it smells like incense, I definitely see that too.

I like this a lot more than I thought I would. It's a floral, earthy and almost carbonated-feeling vanilla, probably the most summery vanilla I've smelled. Kind of like Lush's Lust if the jasmine was toned way, way, WAY down and the vanilla was toned way up. May lean mature depending on who you ask but I personally don't care in the slightest. On me the "carbonated" (mimosa?) note fades rather quickly and the vanilla calms down about an hour later leaving this really nice subtly sweet incense smell. I don't know if my skin has a tendency to turn everything into incense or if those are just the kinds of scents I gravitate towards lol. Either way this was a very successful blind buy!

Never judge a scent by the year or price$,trust me this is a true hidden masterpiece,it's beautiful, this proves this isn't outdated, all ages ageless,I got so many compliments this should be like my $300 &up perfumes,now way! I'm pretty shocked&lasts a good amount of time&performs perfect,not too much or little, it's a really good floral for me that's unique, it's not vanilla a shocking twist, it's fields of flowers in the warm sun&this sweetness,but not a sweet note I can describe,it's very unique, I like this alot and turning into a love,it's a real lady 🌸 timeless,I love trying new things&this is a great ride!¡!♡ humming bird to cute♡

A very nostalgic vanilla. When I was about 12 years old I used to have a drugstore perfume called 'Vanilla Sky', and loved it. Coty Vanilla Fields resembled this perfectly. And I wore bottles of it. Super cozy, warm and fresh at the same time. Easy to wear, never cloying in any way. Best in autumn, I would dare to wear her in hot summer too. There is not a lot more to say about this. She is kind of boring, but that is maybe her power even. She's nothing special, vulgar, dominant or spectacular in any way. She is just soft, creamy and comforting. Vanilla Fields proves to be special without being special.

Wow! Ok I was a perfume snob even as a teen! I wouldn’t wear drugstore scents ha now I’ve grown up! And I’m revisiting some that I missed! I’m a new vanilla lover (mostly a spice lover) so o wanted to try this classic after hearing some reviewers rave. I was a bit overwhelmed looking at all the ingredients and thought it would be a mess but it’s not! When you first spray it’s a bit all over. Yet once it settles, it’s just a lovely sweet but not too sweet scent. It’s fun to layer! I layered today with crystal Noir Edp..and oddly enough the coconut and gardenia of that made this vanilla pop even more!

The opening is coconut and jasmine, with geranium and vanilla softly sitting in between. It's sweet, clean, and very sophisticated. There was a Lancome perfume in the 90s that smells very very similar. The dry down is still that gorgeous opening but softens into a floral wood. The scent sits close to the skin for hours, better on clothes. To me, it resembles a surf wax scent (if you grew up in Florida you know what I'm talking about), which makes it a summer scent to me. But It also is vanilla and sweet enough to sit really nicely under your winter layers, or for lounging at home.

I didn't like this in the 90's during junior high; stole a spritz from my mom's dresser once or twice and was confused--it smelled like flowers, not vanilla. I was looking for that "Body Fantasies" pure sugar vanilla, the flowers smelled "old lady" to me back then. Now that my nose is all grown up, my opinion is very positive. I'm the old lady that has grown into those flowers, combined with a nice non-gourmand vanilla. There's also slight hints of amber and incense. Reminds me of Rochas Tocade. Really good for the price! (My review is for 90's vintage and Y2K era bottles)

Vanilla Fields, in its original incarnation, is one of the best oriental fragrances of its genre. Despite the votes here, which I expect to be a result of the name, this is not a cheap, cloying vanilla fragrance. It is the richest, most sensual oriental perfume with a woody vanilla, incense, spices, woolen musk, and a very erotic peach. It's not too powdery, not chalky (in its original formula), nor is it too sweet. It's pure sensuality. In my opinion, this is a great fragrance to explore if you enjoy things like Theorema and Histoires de Parfums 1969. Pure luxury.

This was the first perfume I ever bought and it’ll always have a place in my heart! What I loved about it was that it was more than just vanilla. It had an almost sherbet edge to it that lasted all day. It was cheap but great longevity! Nowadays it’s hard to get hold of in the uk so can be very expensive when you add shipping. But recently I discovered Casmir thanks to this wonderful site and it’s nearly identical! At £25 for 100ml edp it’s cheap and easy to get hold of and absolutely lovely! It has replaced my beloved Vanilla Fields... grudgingly.

Oddly, the predominant note I smell is cedar, with vanilla, jasmine, and light spices in the background. I like it! Pretty linear on me as I don't see much of a change after the initial spray, but that's okay. At the very end just soft sweet pure vanilla. I wish the silage were better, but the longevity is good. It becomes a skin scent about 6 hours after putting it on. Still, it's cheap enough to respray to perk the scent up when needed. I have an old bottle. Don't know what time period but it doesn't smell cheap or synthetic. A plus!

Where to begin: 1. Classic, timeless & classy 2. Mature without feeling "old" 3. A perfect perfume for ages 17-60+ 4. A very personal favorite and a very signature scent I started wearing this scent as a teenager and it has always made me feel mature and a little magical, sexy without feeling overly sexual. The scent is what you would imagine; warm, vanilla, spicy, soft, sweet without being overly so. I love to wear this to bed. I would recommend this to any woman. It should be in every woman's perfume collection.

I had this in my high school years and loved it but was discontinued in my country but one can still find the body spray from a chemists off the beaten road! Avon's Faraway is the modern version of this, both aromatic and powdery with sweet vanilla throughout all the stages of its development, very cozy indeed with a soft spicy undertone. Being that's a 90's creation both projection and lasting power are outstanding thus best for fall and winter and cooler evenings as it will too cloying in warmer weather.

I've always liked Vanilla Musk very much, so I decided to try this one. I really like it further into the dry down stage when the vanilla and musk shine through, not as much at first due to the white flowers most likely because I have problems with those depending on the mix. But, all in all, I think this is a lovely one to put on after a shower to snuggle with my hubby and to smell as I drift off to sleep. EDIT: I fell in love with this as I wore it several times. Love the white flowers after all.

Vanilla, cereal milk, grass, and the pages of a newly bound book. Hear me out - this smells great on MEN! To me this is a unisex scent and even the bottle is gender neutral. Available on Amazon, it has become fairly rare to find in the wild but sometimes I still see it for sale at the pharmacies around Christmas time. Between batches and age of the product it varies in what notes stand out more. It is so unique, the only thing I can compare it to is Shalimar.

I think it was meant to be a cheaper follower of Casmir, but both of them are prescious, each one in its own special way. Most girls in my highschool wore that when it was on top. I got sick when I first used my classmate's VF deo spray, but I liked it at the same time, maybe I just had a bad day. It took me a few years to get a myself a bottle, but when I evetually did, I never regretted and never ever got sick of it again:-D

Oldie but goodie! This is what Kayali 28 is trying to copy but VF is the OG bomb. I'm glad I can still find it at Walmart. K28 gives me a nauseating headache but VF is smooth and lighter, much more enjoyable. We live in a time where perfumes are mostly a copy of something that already exists but they fail beating the OGs. There's a reason these oldies are still available for sale, because they are unbeatable!

I ordered it online and at first it smells with alcohol but you have to let it rest for a few weeks. With every week it was getting more and more scent and after around 3 weeks it developed into what I remembered from the 90s - a yummy powdery comforting vanilla, as if sitting on custard. This is one of my 'me' scents for winter, something I like using just for myself to smell on my wrist.

This perfume has the exact smell of a perfectly aged paperback book. Not sure how I didn't notice it before today, but this revelation only makes me love Vanilla Fields more. This scent isn't for the Kayali or Sol Janiero lovers--it's for those with an old soul! It's a classic of the 90's and doesn't try to be anything else. I'll always love it!

A powdery vanilla that smells like home! I personally LOVE this perfume as it has become my signature scent. This perfume is definitely not for everyone, but if you like grandma-y perfumes or vintage smelling perfumes that are not super strong / migraine inducing then this is definitely for you! Smells elegant and classy.

To me this feels like a fresh, perfumed, vanilla scented dusting powder that you might put on right after a soothing soak in the tub. Applied lightly, Vanilla Fields is a light, airy vanilla-floral that is nicest in cool weather. Sweet but not too sweet. Feminine, huggable, a compliment getter. Amazingly affordable, too.

i don't remember having this the first time around. my sister did and i always would complamented her when she wore it and always being surprised what it was . so this year feeling like bringing back some old school smells , i found vanilla fields .. so glad i did what a nice everyday scent just very pleasant !

Reminds me of my mother when I was growing up. My dad would always buy her this for her birthday, Valentines day, Anniversaries, or just to be buying her stuff. She would always wear this and it smelled so good on her. The vanilla and the musk work so well on her, it sould be a crime. <3

Discontinued but I see bottles in Walmart all the time. You can get it for now until the last stock dwindles. In the UK it's made under a different brand already (& it's costly to get in the US) so buy your backups now.

To me it is a coconutty sunscreen with a hint of fresh green breeze and it still definitely carries that overall musky 90s vibe. It is stunning. Well worth the price!

its a more calm scent compared to my vanilla potion perfume definitely for cooler days very strong scent and the amber is so strong in this one of my favs 10/10

This was a staple of mine during my University days - Vanilla Fields for day, Aromatics Elixir for evening - and it has many carefree "hippy-chic studenty girl" memories for me. I recently purchased a small bottle out of sheer nostalgia and was expecting something very sugary-sweet, playdough vanilla (the other vanilla I wore at the time was Body Shop Vanilla, aka "eau de play-doh 100%" ) but as the familiar aroma wafts around me, I am pleasantly surprised - this is familiar, but is lighter and fresher than I remembered it - green notes, light white florals, citrus and a very 90s white musk note mix in with the vanilla to give a light and sunny vibe. It's not listed, but I definitely get grassiness here, like the scent of a freshly mowed lawn - perhaps the "Fields" part of the title alongside the Vanilla? Whatever it is, I like it in the mix as the vanilla is very sweet, and benefits from the contrast. Definitely NOT a modern gourmand sugarbomb or play-doh vanilla; has more in common with more classic oriental vanilla mixes, like Coty Emeraude, or Casimir by Chopard (which if you already have, you probably don't need a bottle of Vanilla Fields in addition.... Casimir to VF is like a slightly more refined, grown-up big sister). Wearable and likable and summery to me. It makes me want to dance giddily across fields of wild flowers in a beautiful cloud of light, youthful springtime vanilla, giggling at the thought of a new crush. Turns out I love this just as much as I did back then, and this was a nice trip back down memory lane for a waaaaay more cynical and mature lady than I was when I first wore Vanilla Fields, but definitely a fragrance that I feel till has a place in the 21st for anyone with a young, carefree spirit and a taste for something lighthearted, fun and sweet, without being sugary candy.

I refused to wear Vanilla Fields for years, mostly because I associated it with a college classmate who was known as "the boyfriend stealer", and also because, at the time, I simply was not into vanilla scents as much as I am now. Then I tried it a couple of years ago and it seemed "generic". However, I just received a gift set of two cologne spray bottles, for Christmas, and have changed my opinion. Vanilla Fields is not a particularly sweet perfume. It has a strong herbaceous/grassy/woodsy floral tone combined with the same kind of vanilla that is in Coty Vanilla Musk, but for some reason the vanilla smells much "dryer" in Vanilla Fields. I also get a fairly powerful jasmine, almost indolic and not at all what I was expecting. There is almost too much patchouli. I was hoping Vanilla Fields would be sweeter, which is why I put it as a "like" rather than a "love", but it does have good sillage and longevity and is much more interesting than I remembered! I will wear this when I want a vanilla scent that does not smell that much like food.

This was a perfume that I bought unplanned, strolling around a drugstore during my vacations in Ireland. The scent and the price were OK, so I thought "Why not?". Well, it ended up being one of my favorite fragrances for a long time, not only for the scent, but also for the memories of one of my most dear places in the world! I'm not into sweet or candy-vanilla fragrances, so this one surprised me because it is not overly sweet nor gourmand. It has a distinct note of jasmin and a very woody-patchouli base, which prevents the scent from being "edible". It goes well either in winter or in summer, because the vanilla here is "light" (but it still has the main role in this perfume, of course!) but at the same time is warm and comforting. It is essentially a day-time frangrance. Vanilla Fields is a perfume that I miss, because I can't find it in my country. I tried to find something similar to it, but didn't succeed. So I used it carefully to the last drop, enjoying every moment I had in its company.

I always seemed to like it even though it was vanilla which I am not fond of. I bought it for one of my relatives about 15 years ago.....always wondering " gee, maybe I should have kept that for myself" but nah, because everyone and their uncle is wearing vanilla, and I didn't want to blend in. Well, I think the vanilla craze is starting to taper off, so I revisited this vintage frag. The musk is strong , actually trailing vanilla, but the vanilla is absolutely detectable. A sweet, soft vanilla, but certainly not a gourmand. Initially: musky, green, grapefruit~y, incense~y ....... and then the vanilla, .....you can't miss it. Absolutely no animalic smell. I would say it reminds me a little of the popular frags they have today, especially when the sweet , soft vanilla is left over.....but there is something vintage~y about it . ( how do you like my adjective~y descriptions? Lol) Going to give it a proper review a little later. I just KNOW this smells like something they have out already.

What do they mean "Not as good as high-end fragrances like Shalimar"... IT'S 13 DOLLARS. Anyways this is doctor's office bathroom air freshener and spray-on sunscreen to me. At first I didn't like that but after wearing it for a couple hours it grew on me. This is the kind of perfume I would wear to run errands or keep in my car to put on when I rush out the door and forget to put on something at home. It's a nice, powdery coco-vanilla with just enough woodiness so that it has a bit of depth while staying clean. I also like the jasmine in it. However it's a bit too sweet for me to say I like it. Edit.. After letting it sit for about a month, she's definitely a bit better. I think the similarities to my doctor's office scared me off at first, but now that I'm wearing it again I think I like it. It still has a powdery, doll head sort of smell to it, but it's not so jarring.. Maybe the vanilla came out a bit more.. Anyways it's quite good for a cheapy if you let it sit for a little while.

Updated review 10/19/21: This smells harsh to me, like a vanilla cologne. There is a masculine note in here that I'm not into. It surprised me the first time I smelled this, and I don't enjoy it. This also smells vintage/classic but in a sort of cheap way. I gave away my large bottle and kept the 1 oz to see how I felt, but that will also likely be leaving my collection soon. _______ I never wore VF in the 90s, mostly because I was a child who didn't wear perfume...but I do love the "retro" vibe I get when I wear this. It's heady jasmine and a fresh, non foodie vanilla that seems versatile enough to wear home and in sweats, or to the office. It's special because not everyone is going to have it, since you can't really find it in stores, and only us perfume nerds know how good it is. I like to wear this one while I curl up on the couch when my boyfriend is out of town and watch British procedurals on Netflix. For the price you cannot go wrong. It smells good guys, get some.
