Le Messager

This is everything. This is so nostalgic. The smell reminds me of my mom’s Mac cosmetics makeup, specifically the lipstick palettes she had that I would always steal when I was literally like two years old. I had no idea I was missing that smell, until I smelled this. As soon as I put my nose to my skin my heart lights up as I’m reminded of those days and being a child. The instant that I tried this, I knew I had to have a bottle. I nearly blind bought a fb of Hyper musc by courreges, but instead I sensibly chose to sample that and le messager. I ended up loving le messager a lot more. Le messager has a lot more presence, for me, than hyper musc (not that they smell super similar or anything.) If you love ambroxan you’ll love this line. Edit: This also smells a lot like the Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark spot toner!!

I love it ! It's very unusual, the ink is very strong almost animalic oud, but then it blend to the Vanilla soft Musk combo and become cuddly and conforting. There is also some distinctive smoke in it, it's like a cuddle by the fireplace. Very niche to me. Can't really tell about the performance, I need to get a sample. Quiet unisex but lean little more male. Narrative : he wrotes her passionnate letters after arguing, and they finally find each other in Winter by the fireplace on a nice chalet.

I first sprayed Le Messager without looking at the notes. My first impression; masculine, a smoky, leather scent. That profile burned off and 15 minutes later I smell a soft, eternal vanilla musk. This is a winning combo, and very different for the musk genre. I understand the masculine note I was smelling was ink, but it feels dry, smoke-like to me. I love how Le Messager started off masculine and tough, then softening into a more wearable scent.

Beautiful basic musk. The ink notes are to die for - the exact scent of those bulk bic pens that have that really chewable cap?! Dry down is very very long lasting and comforting. Warm laundry from the dry cleaners. Almost a little warm leather car seat with a vanilla air freshener. I would vouch for a waaaay more unisex of dry down than masculine. Overall so obsessed, herdreamjournal and I are both itching for a 30ml now!

one of my favorite genres of fragrance is when there is a warm, inviting base of vanilla, musk, and/or amber that is interpolated with something... weird. it is in the case of le messager that vanilla musk and writing ink engage in a dance for dominance. the opening is fuzzy yet bright, eventually drying down to a smoky skin scent. itching for a 30 ml bottle but this dabber vial will suffice.

This is amazing. I adore it. Yes, it does have an ink/pencil lead smell. But not only that. It the drydown you'll get some smell of burnt oil from cars, maybe some rubber, basically an auto service. Reminds me of Encre Noire, Hommage a l'Homme Voyageur (both Laliques smelling 'inky') Dsquared He Wood Rocky Mountain., Armaf Sillage. Great for rainy days or just for yourself.

Ink fades very quick on skin and clothes for me, but then the powdery unisex vanilla sticks around forever. I don't smell the bergamot at all but it doesn't need it. I like the transformation & it ends up very wearable, I might have to get a bottle soon. Not that this matters but the sample vial is very cute by the way

Such a nice softly musky and sweet perfume, reminds me of old drawings, pretty nostalgic, the ink really fits with the combination of the bergamot. 8.5/10

Smells like looking at car tires at an auto dealer while eating vanilla ice cream.

Cheap milk chocolate and doll-heads. I don't get ink from this at all.

Without looking at the notes, this just reads like a soft leather + vanilla fragrance to my nose. Pleasant and really quite nice, but not at all weird and wild as some of the reviews make this sound. The dry down is a musky, aromatic vanilla. Super wearable and appealing imo, I don’t see anyone around the wearer clocking ink or anything animalic at all in this. Just a nice suede-y vanilla.

I really loved the ink smell in it but it is not worth the price as it really fades away quickly. That is why I will not purchase again :(

After that sharpie pen quickly fades, I get Eau Duelle.

I accidentally purchased this perfume, but I still gave it a try to see if I liked it. On my skin, the initial scent is very metallic. I disliked it from the very first spray. Five hours later, the metallic smell fades and becomes something more floral. I didn’t detect any bergamot or musk. The 30ml bottle costs €80 on the official website, which I think is overpriced. I don’t believe it’s worth even €20.

The ink is way too harsh for the soft background. It might have worked had it been mixed with similar scents such as leather or oud, or been propped up in a more complex composition, but this is in no way evocative of soft love. It smells as if he used the ink pen to stab his dear lover rather than write her words of affection.

Le Messager is a nostalgic blend of Vanilla/musk and Ink with a sprinkle of Bergamot. To me this smells a bit like memories of grandmas basement. I must say there's some sharpness and I also must agree with other reviews stating the Ink feels a bit out of place. But I love that! The opening smells like juicy vanilla- then quickly drying down to a comforting inked musk with smokey elements.

Initial spray smells like a BIC ballpoint pen tastes - which I loved - then it softens and you get a vanillic undercurrent. Unfortunately a couple of hours in the smell becomes burnt rubber and fades away. Still a fan of the opening so I'll experiment with layering and top-up options and work through my 30ml

Haaaaaate the initial spray, but it quickly dries down into an amazing earthy vanilla with bergamot that last pretty long on my skin. I generally don’t buy fragrances if I hate the first spray, but I really love the dry down & found a bottle of it for a good price on Mercari

I like the inky opening and the pencil shavings cedar you smell up close. But the base is such strong white vanilla musk that my husband and his friend asked “Did you just put on American Girl Doll perfume?” as I walked by them. 2 out of 5.
