Rosewater

I was lucky enough to score some Crabtree and Evelyn Rainwater Rose bubble bath and lotion at T.J Max yesterday. I bought everything they had in stock. The cashier looked at me and said Wow you are stocking up. I told her this is the best fresh rose smell ever made and I wish that they had some bottle of the perfume as well. I used to own a bottle of this perfume as well, but it is sadly gone now, and I can't get another since it was discontinued. We had a store in our local town that stocked Crabtree and Evelyn products and I bought them there. Now that store sells general crap that I have no interest in. I walk in the store and the merchandise is lacking in quality. But that is becoming the norm now. Times have changed and not for the better. Anyway...Rainwater Rose is one of the best rose perfumes I have ever used. I can't find anything else that matches this very pretty realistic rose w/ a soft violet tonality. The green notes here are softly done and pitch perfect to how greenery smells in nature when you are out walking in nature. What I also love about this perfume is that there are no woody notes or patchouli in the base! I wish more companies would Give us perfumes w/out all the heavy base notes. Cedar and patchouli are in everything! Yes, woody notes and patchouli make a perfume last longer, but a perfume lover isn't always concerned w/ longevity, at times we will sacrifice that for a smell that we want. Personally, I always thought this perfume performed quite well even though it was mostly a floral composition w/ a slight musk. Rainwater Rose was the prettiest fresh rose I have ever worn, nothing like Tea Rose by Perfume Workshop. I owned a small bottle of that and while not bad it could become quite obnoxious when wearing it. I used part of my bottle then stopped wearing it when I discovered Rainwater Rose. Tea Rose got shoved to the dustbin. I wish Crabtree and Evelyn would put this and many others back into production. Their old stuff was far superior to what they sell now.

I bought the lotion from my local TJ maxx and I love it!! The lotion itself is great but this is a review of the fragrance so I won’t get into it. The lotion also does not change over time in the way a perfume might, but I would say I sense the sweet rose and green at first and over time it becomes less green and more sweet and even more rosey. It’s really nice, a pretty and elegant scent that makes me feel especially feminine. For a lotion it’s got crazy silliage and lasting power. I put it in and my brother smelled it from multiple feet away as if it were a perfume. The next day I put it on before church and my sister smelled it from the backseat. It’s almost too powerful... But so good! It truly smells like Rosewater, and it smells exactly the way a turkish delight tastes. When I first smelled it I thought of Turkish delights, and my sister said the same thing later without me saying anything. Needless to say, I think it’s a very pretty and nice scent and I’m glad that the lotion has silliage so I can smell pretty too!

I actually really like this one, but as someone else mentioned the staying power is nil. Part of that is because it's a Rosewater, which isn't supposed to be very potent. However, I've found I can increase it's lasting power by layering the shower gel, lotion, and eau fraiche and the putting a drop of the environmental oil behind my ear and on my wrist. That really helps it "stick"...I get compliments on this and yes, Rose can be "old lady" (I HATE that expression - as if all ladies suddenly reach an age where they begin to smell a certain way!) but it also has a refined, Victorian feel to it when worn correctly. I enjoy wearing this one, as I do many Crabtree and Evelyn fragrances. If you like a harder hitting rose scent, then perhaps try their Evelyn Rose fragrance which is more potent.

Another favorite. It has a very light, clean , fresh scent of roses with clean green notes; very very pretty without being at all overly sweet or cloying. And my favorite part is that it's not the least bit powdery or heavy; it's very clean, fresh and bright. A wonderful fragrance, and a less expensive alternative to my much loved signature fragrance, Jo Malone's Red Roses. I love the entire Crabtree&Evelyn Rosewater line; the Rosewater Bath Gel is a fabulous product , and I buy 4 to 6 bottles at a time for my nightly bubble baths . And it's all very reasonably priced given the quality of the products. I love the whole line.

I'm kind of confused by the different bottles. Mine is the more smooth, "classical" style? one I guess. It says rosewater on it, though, so I don't think it's the old version of "Evelyn." Are they the same thing, anyone know? O.o I went to buy a new bottle since mine is sitting at about 1/2 an inch from the bottom and holy crap! Wtf, people are wanting like, upwards of $90 for this?!? I paid $5.99 at TJ Maxx. Also got a giant bottle of shower gel, lotion, and a smallish bottle of rose&argan oil for the same. Holy crap, guess I should go back and stock up!

A very unattractive bottle. It does detract. I have the Eau Fraiche, whose packaging is much nicer, if even then not evocative of expensive opulence. I took it to be a light everyday thing, to be used in the same way as pot pourri or a bar of scented soap in the bureau, if one does, which actually one doesn't. I really love the Eau Fraiche even though as has been observed, its longevity is nil. I think I'll wear it tonight for a choral thing. It's perfect for classical music performed in a church. An entrancingly clear soprano note of rose purity.

Run into thousands of little, delicate rose petals in full bloom. Delight yourself in the little heaven you've found. That's what rosewater smells like to me. It's sweet, innocent little rose smell that makes me feel chaste. It's a linear scent but who needs complex scents all the time anyway? I'm not a floral person and when I am, it's always rose that I go for :) The staying power of this is just ...bad. It lasts no more than an hour or two on my skin and reapplication can be hassling.

I have this, and the body wash. I love the smell, but even used together, it doesn't last at all. Don't waste your money on anything from this company. Their products may smell wonderful, but the quality is quite poor. Try White Rose by Floris if you are looking for a similar-type rose scent.

I first had this when I was in junior high/high school. I absolutely love this fragrance. I still have the older version and not the new updated version. I hope the scent hasn't changed too much. This reminds me of spring/summer and is light and comforting. A true rose scent.

Rosewater is so clean, crisp and fresh! I always get compliments each time I wear it. I purchased this fragrance to be worn mainly for work, and I love rose fragrances! Rosewater just smells so summery, fresh and cheerful. Like a summer garden wedding in the country.

This is a gorgeous rose that I've worn for years. I like it better than Roses de Chloe, Bvlgari Rose Essentialle, Jo Malone Red Roses, Creed Fleure de Rose Bulgare, Malle Lipstick Rose, and Annick Goutal Rose Absolue.

I really love this scent; it is fresh and yet absolutely rose in a wildrose way. Doesn ́t stay long on my skin though, but I guess that that ́s the story of all fresh scents!

Rosewater opens with a very sweet rose, very reminiscent of Turkish Delight. It has a powerful sillage. The peony is there, adding a sharp, almost piercing touch, and there are some green notes underneath in the opening. The perfume is broadly linear. The rose is always the dominant note, the green notes are always a quiet supporting cast, and the musk becomes more detectable as time goes by. The violet is there but its powdery touch doesn't come through until later along with the musk. I get about twelve hours or so on my skin. It's unquestionably a more feminine rose rather than a masculine rose but it has its own charm. I wouldn't go hunting for it now that it's discontinued but I would have considered getting a small bottle of it for my mother. Like most sweet rose perfumes, I feel it is better suited for the day and for warmer weather.

Although the rose-scent is weaker than my other two favorite rose perfumes (Jo Malone "Red Roses" & C&E's "Evelyn Rose"), I find it more suited to the hot, humid summer days here in the South. The sillage is weaker, which is preferable for closed-door meetings, and I find its scent doesn't tend to increase with body temperature like the other two. That said, it also doesn't last as long. (A good reason to carry a tube of the hand crème. It's a very good product in & of itself.) So my Rose scent preferences are: Date nights & cooler days: Jo Malone "Red Roses" Warm Spring and Fall days: C&E's "Evelyn Rose" (when I actually HAVE some - it seems to always be out of stock) Hot, muggy southern days: C&E's "Rosewater"

Rosewater delivers on it's promise: it's Rose-water. I don't get much else other than rose from this (none of the green or woody-ness per se), and it lacks longevity and sillage power. But while it is there it is very nice! I didn't buy the accompanying toiletries as I wanted the EDT to stand alone, but it is very light. I wouldn't buy again, but it is nice if you're looking for a very light rose scent.

I got to sample this today. It's very pretty and inoffensive. I do respectfully but strongly disagree with the poster below who compared this to Red Roses by Jo Malone. In my opinion this is 100 times better. The top notes of red roses is very nice but the dry down is horrendous. On my skin and on paper- with time Red Roses turns very Barnyard. If you love roses this is very nice.

As you can see from my other reviews, I love florals, and this is the quintessential floral fragrance. It's very rosy without being overpowering - much like an old-fashioned rose. Simply gorgeous! They do lots of matching products - my favourites are the hand scrub and hand cream... smells like I've been handling roses all day!

I have the older version in the round-shouldered bottle called "Rosewater Eau Fraiche." It is a nice rose soliflore with pretty good longevity and projection. I don't detect any of the supporting notes. The rose has a slight (but inoffensive) soapiness that disappears as it settles.

A scent from my childhood! I would always get a hand cream or shower gel in Rosewater from my father at Christmas time and I loved it. The EDT is light in staying power but it is a true, fresh rose. Simple and to the point! The soaps are to die for in this fragrance too!

Like what another reviewer said, this is a pure rose scent. However, it does smell very luxurious. I wear rose perfumes almost everyday, but I wear this when I want rose and only rose. :) I would recommend this to any rose lover.

I remember I tested it in a Crabtree store and it wasn't the kind of rose I like. It was more an oldfashioned and - like the name says- watery rose. I like rose scents but this one is not for me.

At first spray, I get a very powdery floral note, which is the Violet. The citrusy facet of the Rose shines through. I don’t get any green notes but there is the sharp scent of Peony’s present. The musk is a sweet and slightly amber one, sitting quietly in the background of the composition. It’s not my favourite scent because it’s just too old formulation wise for me. I like deeper Rose scents, so perhaps layering this with single component fragrances like Sandalwood, Patchouli and Frankincense to give it an oriental twist would work better for me.

A pleasant enough classic rosewater with violet. Smells like a rose handcream I had. Not my usual kind of rose scent. Not bad, just not my style.

Solid perfume formulation: I'm not impressed. It smells exactly like the rose water toner I use on my face. Perhaps the spray formulation would be more impressive. No sillage or projection which was expected for a solid. Not long lasting either, unexpected for a solid perfume. A sorry excuse for a solid perfume; I am underwhelmed.

It's like every single rose in the world exploded and ended up in this bottle! If you looove rose perfume then this is right up your alley very rosy and simply lovely!!!

Rosewater is a winner in everyone's book because it's the perfect rose perfume. It has nothing but rose in it and it smells like the sweetest dewiest petals of roses as they are poured on scented waters into your skin. The peony in a fragrance is very similar to the smell of rose so I see why they included a peony note. The violet is there to provide an additional flowery smell but it's not the key player. This is rose from beginning to end. The green notes are there to recreate the stems of roses and are quite realistic but not sharp or too strong, just wet cold and green. Despite the fact that this is purely a floral and really more of a soliflore, it's subtle and soft, not the least bit heavy nor offensive in any way shape or form. The only way you can't like this fragrance is if you're not into roses and you can't stand the scent of roses. I've never met a person who didn't like roses but this world is big and there are bound to be rose haters out there. As others have already mentioned, this perfume is lovely but it has a better function not as a day-to-day perfume for yourself on your skin but more of a bath product. This is straight up rosewater so you need to scent your bath tub with this. It's a bath oil. It makes me feel so good when I pour the rose water into my bathtub while I luxuriate in a long bath. I tried to get a boyfriend of mine into this scent but he said "this is for girls" and he was afraid to even enter the bath tub because he thought the fragrance would turn him into a girl. If you're that unbelievably sexist, closed-minded, difficult and ignorant, don't buy this fragrance and stick to your Brut or Invicturs or whatever. This fragrance is for anyone male or female child or adult young or old who loves the smell of roses and doesn't mind surrounding themselves in the scent. For me this is a unisex fragrance meant for the enjoyment of all of us. This is a tradition that goes back to the ancient world when the ancient Romans and Egyptians scented their baths with rose water and immersed themselves in it's theraupetic aroma. It's aroma therapy. And we all need that kind of therapy in our stress-filled world filled with financial problems, personal problems, relationship problems, family dramas and on a bigger scale this year's election turning into a reality show drama starring Donald Trump, the terrorist attacks on Belgium and other parts of the world. This is a fragrance that takes you away from all that. It's a dreamy rose that invites you to a world of peace and gentilitiy. PS the boyfriend who was afraid he'd turn into a girl is history. I was smart enough to get out of that relationship because he was revealing himself to be more ignorant and more typical than I dared suspected. It's been more than 3 years since I saw him. I have no idea where he went. Now everytime I smell Rose Water I think o my God he really did turn into a girl and he must have been so embarrassed he must have moved out of the US LOL

A Fragrance For The Home Rosewater is a dime a dozen but this is really quite lovely. Crabtree & Evelyn has some very well made floral scents. As the biggest flower child - all grown up- I adore flowers and would be miserable without my therapeutic fragrances at home. Rosewater is a soliflore with just the right amount of additional flowers thrown into it - violet peony and something green almost like a lily of the valley scent. It's definitely an herbal aroma, and smells like a rose bush that has been soaked by rain. This comes in many editions including hand creams body lotions and of course bath water. This is a sweet pink rose petal scent, watery, green, fresh, floral, and aromatic. The violet note emerges or rather sneaks in very quickly. The peony is a rose like scent on it's own so it matches up with the rose scent. To my nose there's no musk though it is something akin to a clean musk. This is good for the skin and clearly made to splash all over your body. This is an affordable fragrance and is selling big time on eBay. For those of us who love roses and want to bathe and luxuriate in the pleasant and very comforting scent of roses roses roses. I love this. Smells so good after a long bath. Simple. Not a perfume but actual Rosewater which I use to scent my bath. I love to spray this inside the bathroom and I put it on after I've had a bath. It's such a soothing, relaxing, therapeutic fragrance. Of course it's big on rose and smells just like real rose petals. I have been around gardens long enough to know which floral scent is which and I was able to detect the peonies and violets. But they're soft. Actually much too soft for anyone to smell it on me. I normally love stronger violets. Green notes are clearly there but I don't detect any musk. This is mainly a rose scent with peonies and violets helping to bring out a sweetness. This is sweet and makes me feel clean and so good. I can only wear this just after a shower or a bath. It doesn't last very long so it's something to put on when you don't have anything else to put on. Totally floral. Totally beautiful.

I used to use the Crabtree and Evelyn bath products. Of course with any product such as these, the scent is something you enjoy in the bath, because it's gone by the time you reach for the towel. Still I liked the old fashion look of the containers, especially the tin talc powder, and used them as decor in my bath. Well I guess some jack-leg came along and told Crabtree and Evelyn they needed to change the containers in an effort to keep up with those horrible, smell them from a mile away, pre-teen, bath and body shops in the mall. Crabtree and Evelyn has done just that. Their containers look like every other product out there. If you were looking to fit in C&E you succeeded, and there you will stay, fitting in with all the others on the shelf, because you won't be coming home with me.

A million times better than Tea Rose which while not a bad smell can become the rose from hell, just too much rose. This is the scent of rose petals dipped into water. And that's what rose water is anyways. Notice the bottle. It's just the rose- scented water you put into your bath. Smells purely of rose very realistic with green leaves and pink petals. The peony note is perfect and since it already smells like a rose it matches up with the rose note. The violet is not coming to me. This is mostly rose and peony. The musk wears like the warm base but it's oily and not super musky. A beautiful fragrance. You have to add this to your collection if you can truly call yourself a rose lover.

It's annoying but my perception of smell changes daily. Sometimes even within hours. In the morning it may smell like the best thing that has ever met my nose, and in the afternoon it may make me want to double over and gag. Unfortunately this was one of them! I was looking for a scent that smells like Benetint. This one was quite close, but by the afternoon I figured it was too sweet for a rose fragrance. Lucky thing is, it lasted forever on me. 6 hours later and still almost as strong as when I first sprayed it on. Silage was moderate, which is perfect.

This is one of the best rose fragrances I have ever smelled. Considering I have a lot of rose perfumes. This perfume lasts over 9 hours on my skin. It lasts for days on clothes. This rose is natural, powerful and sweet-smelling. This perfume leaves a soft trail. I understand it is discontinued. I have had this for over 10 years, and it still smells amazing. This perfume has quality ingredients. This perfume is one of my favourites, considering I have over 300 perfumes. This perfume is definitely for rose lovers. It brings me joy.

I don't have the EDT, but the dusting powder in the cardboard canister. It's wonderful layered under rose-centered fragrances. I love it with both rose-incense and rose-oud perfumes. Also great layered under perfumes containing some rose as a note that tend toward masculine on their own (Chanel 19, Coromandel). It has also served very well all by itself on warm days. The scent lasts all day.

Rosewater Crabtree & Evelyn is a lovely and unobtrusive fragrance. The top notes of red roses are lovely, but the dry down is atrocious. This is quite pleasant if you like roses. It has a really nice scent. It is a mild, clean, fresh rose aroma with clean green overtones; extremely lovely without being excessively sweet or overwhelming. I absolutely adore this smell!

Even though I enjoy this a lot, it is strightly my bed time scent. I don't wear this out during the day because of it's lack of silage. This is a light, fresh, roses in full bloom scent, delicate and not overwhelming. Too bad the staying power is poor on me or I'd live in it.

Rosewater EDT by Crabtree & Evelyn is a delightful, fresh fragrance. It's the perfect light, feminine, natural rose for summer. Wish longevity was better, but it is one of my favorite fragrances. I even apply it before bedtime :)

I have the Rosewater eau fraiche. It's light but smells beautiful, much lighter than Evelyn Rose. The eau fraiche doesn't last very long but it's ok, I really enjoyed it.

its just like the name "rose water" like you in the bathtub with full of roses.. its very vintage and classy but the power is poor.. just for 2-3 hours in my skin.

It was smell like a oldlady. I really dont like this one. I love rose but not this one..
