Les Garconnes Jeanne Voyage

Les garçonnes JEANNE VOYAGE is another perfume solid featuring iris from the Crazylibellule and the Poppies house. This composition is quite a bit sweeter than TOUT OUBLIER and also has a stronger, benzoin-like musk note, in addition to nutmeg, which is light enough to add a touch of spice without seeming nutmeggy. I have no problems with this fragrance whatsoever and in fact rather like it. Yes, the sillage is low, but the composition is pleasing and I could easily wear this over and over again—-or until my 5 gram stick is gone. One change from the other “crazy sticks” I’ve tried to date is that the ingredients in the Les garçonnes series begin with petrolatum rather than paraffin. I think that this texture is somewhat more in line with the idea of a perfume solid as it is usually conceived and presented—-although it is still quite a bit more waxy than most of my other solid perfumes (by Jean Patou, Bond no 9, and Diptyque) and I have no doubt that the Chapstick-y texture of many of these sticks (the ones made primarily of paraffin-—that would be candle wax, right?) makes them less appealing than they might otherwise be. The cardboard casing probably does not help matters either, especially since so many houses enshrine their solid perfumes in gorgeous, jewelry-like vessels which are a joy to fondle. The ultimate test, however, lies in the scent, and these really do smell swell. They are cute, portable, come in disposable packaging and are all natural, in addition to not posing problems for airport security. Plus there are enough different varieties and they are so inexpensive that one could travel with several perfumes quite easily. (No, I am not a shill!) In any case, all of this advice may in the end be for naught: the several times I’ve tried to visit this house’s website to find out more-—do they offer liquid perfumes? for example—-I have a found sign reading: “Closed for repairs.” So perhaps this concept did not fly, perhaps it seemed too juvenile to be taken seriously by most perfume consumers. This was my first purchase and introduction to the crazysticks and Crazylibellule line. I got so obsessed, that I purchased the whole line of the Les Garconnes Series. They are easy to use, portable, great for traveling because of the solid stick, and come in unique and lovely scents. I think they are fabulous. This one in particular was my favorite of the line. I love the bergamot, musky, flowery, part...I don't detect the rose, that would probably turn me off to it. It lasts a long time on my skin. I even pet my dog hours later after application and accidentally added some to her fur. She came by me later in the day and smelled fabulous too! So sad that the company went out of biz, google and you can still find stock many places as well as evilbay.

I mostly get the slightly powdery iris with musk notes and none of the other listed notes, but there is definitely a touch of sandalwood in here because that's all I end up with in the end. Sandalwood is an iffy fragrance on me and in this case it ruins my appreciation of a nicely blended iris fragrance. If this company did go out of business that is a tragedy: Their fragrances are fun and affordable and yes, still available online in a bunch of place, luckily.
