Centaurus

SOTD This arrived yesterday to add to the Creed Collection. It was a blind purchase without trying a decant as the price was very good. I tested a spray on skin yesterday and did a full wear oversprayed. I'll just do my own thoughts on what I feel wearing Centaurus Centaurus smells like an Atas (High class & Posh), High Quality, classy CK One Shock, add a little spice in (cinnamon) and remove the freshness from CK one Shock. The sweetness from that airy yet elegant tobaaco is there but it's definitely not overbearing or overly pronounced... But it smells more quality and complex than a simple One Shock Dna... That's for the opening...and does smells good. To me Centaurus is a rather polarizing scent... Some 2-3 hours after, you'll get a different drydown, the scent development, it gets darker, kinda more Amouage like in that sense where you'll get the resinous incensey smokiness with the tobacco supporting now, not sweet though, more baslam and I don't get much vanilla, just nice smokey incensey. I really like this dry down but on skin it's a skin scent drydown, on t-shirt it performs slightly better giving some silage. Creed has gone more adventurous with these darker and slightly gourmand scents to cater to the growing market on such dna, not that bad. They named it after a constellation. Centaurus is a large, bright constellation located in the southern sky. It is named after a centaur, a mythical creature that is half human and half horse. The constellation honors the centaur Chiron, who was tutor to many of the earlier Greek heroes including Heracles (Hercules), Theseus, and Jason, the leader of the Argonauts. It is not to be confused with the more warlike centaur represented by the zodiacal constellation Sagittarius. The legend associated with Chiron says that he was accidentally poisoned with an arrow shot by Hercules, and was subsequently placed in the heavens. Such a mythical creature, given it's status and name, seemingly fits Creed's creation of this Scent, Centuarus and it's scent main accords and it's development, giving association to how the scent is like with the history. "Centaurus, a fragrance inspired by the Centaurus constellation, known for its vastness. It features a blend of smoky tobacco, spicy pink pepper, cinnamon, and cardamom, with a base of sandalwood, jasmine, heliotrope, patchouli, tonka bean, and Bourbon vanilla. The scent is described as fiery, wild, and luminous, capturing the magnitude of the constellation."

There are some unfair ratings and questionable comparisons floating around for this fragrance, which I think do it a disservice. This is Creed pushing beyond their comfort zone, delivering a spicy tobacco composition that will absolutely appeal to those who enjoy cardamom, tobacco, cinnamon, and warm spice accords. It’s a bold direction for the house and, in my opinion, a successful one. Performance-wise, this is no slouch. Projection and sillage are comfortably above average, and longevity is solid—areas where some previous Creed releases have (rightly) drawn criticism. That criticism doesn’t apply here. So... is it full bottle worthy? Yes—sort of. And here’s where my dilemma comes in. Before sampling Centaurus, I had already blind bought Taureau De Combat from Lattafa, without even knowing it was intended as an alternative to Centaurus. (At the time of writing—15/01/26—Taureau De Combat still isn’t listed on Fragrantica.) I loved Taureau De Combat immediately, and straight away I noticed similarities to Vintage Radio. Remove the plum from Vintage Radio, reduce the powderiness, then add tobacco, smooth cardamom, and a touch of cinnamon—and you’re very much in Taureau De Combat territory. What surprised me most was just how close it is to Centaurus. I’d honestly put it at around 90% accurate, which is impressive by any standard. That said, Centaurus is clearly the superior fragrance: higher-quality materials, more presence, greater spice intensity, more noticeable tobacco, and a more refined, masterful blend overall. But here’s the sticking point—it’s also almost ten times the price. So the real question becomes: Is that extra 10%—the refinement, depth, and quality—worth paying ten times more? That’s something only you can decide. Personally, I know I’ll eventually add a full bottle of Centaurus to my collection. It just isn’t an immediate necessity, because Taureau De Combat scratches much of the same itch. Still, I do believe that final 10%—the polish and sophistication—is ultimately worth owning. Just not in a rush. As always, sample if you can and decide for yourself. EDIT: 31/01/25 - Bought the full bottle in the end. Love it and those extra spicy nuances are definitely worth it, but I still stand by my comments re: Taureau De Combat. Hope it helps others 🙂

Its cinnamon nuance may bring to mind Oajan by Parfums de Marly, yet the comparison only highlights Centaurus’s restraint where Oajan is bold and assertive, Centaurus is smoother, more measured, more elegant. In quality, it stands confidently beside Absolu Aventus, though the two travel different olfactory paths. And with its poised balance of spice and warmth, Centaurus feels destined to become a staple in any cold-weather rotation. Choosing the 100ml bottle was a wise decision. This is the kind of fragrance that invites return after return, a quiet luxury that lingers long after the day has ended. Centaurus is the Winter constellation of spice and elegance. 10/10

First proper sampling of Centaurus, one of Creed’s most recent releases, released seemingly as a pair with Delphinus. Whereas Delphinus is centered on orris, to my nose, Centaurus is centered on tobacco, anchored by similar supporting notes of pepper, vanilla, patchouli, and tonka, a sort of sweet, spicy, sharp tobacco that’s smoothly and sophisticatedly put together, with restraint shown in all three areas, making it somewhat year-round-friendly despite being clearly more apt (to me) for colder weather, with good performance. None of the supporting notes shine through as much as the vanilla, I’d argue, the tobacco first, vanilla second pairing being the most central, despite the fragrance as a whole not really resembling other tobacco/vanilla pairings. It definitely leans sharp and powdery and sweet vs. spicy, so it’s not, say, on the spiciness level of Atelier Cologne Tobacco Nuit or even the milder Aramis Tobacco Reserve. This rather has its own balance which even includes some earthiness via geranium and patchouli, albeit exceeded slightly by the powdery sweet vibe fostered by the vanilla/tonka/benzoin blend. As with Delphinus, the quality is very high, the performance is very good, but the retail pricing is astounding(ly bad), at $545/400 for 100/50ml, but discounters seem to have the fragrances in stock in the grey market, since they were originally released a few months ago. Overall, though, I think it’s outstanding even if not quite the achievement that Delphinus is, and I’m really pleased with the release. I could certainly wear this most days in cool weather and be very happy with it. 8 out of 10

/// Never before smelled this one, blind bought it. Got it today,.. sprayed it on my arm and purposely did everything possible to avoid smelling it for about the first 3 minutes, sprayed it, ran outside kept my arm as far away from my nose as possible with the wind at my back, literally trying everything possible to avoid catching a wiff for a few minutes and casually went back inside to resume my honey-do’s whilst avoiding going in for a sniff test, just patiently waiting for it to do its thing,.... And baM-O, 30 seconds later there it was swirling and dancing around my nose,.. and CUT,... wait a Fuhki’N minute ,... what is this , I’ve smelled something very similar before ,.. in Fact ,.. I’m pretty dang sure I’ve got something similar to this 🤔 hmm , could not instantly figure it out and then saw something shiny and forgotten what I was even trying to remember. The moral of that story is if you can’t remember,.. just try to forget that you’re trying to remember and it’ll come to you about 15/20 minutes later as it did me ,. And there I was when it hit me . PDM LAYTON . except ... only in a way that Creed could pull off, no one else . And if you know Creed then you know what I know. But to me this is creed’s version of Layton. !!!! And it’s WELL DONE . Can’t speak on performances , but it smells well crafted . Still over priced but... whatever & just like with any fragrance, .. adjust sprays and spray techniques for different climates and situations, this just like any fragrance in my opinion can be worn year round mmmmmK! !!!!!!!!!...THE END..!!!!!!!!

I received my decants and could not wait to try them. I sampled Silver Mountain Water and Viking first, but this small vial quickly stole the show. I had previously tried it on skin at Neiman Marcus, and it left a lasting impression. This time confirmed it. What struck me most was the dry down and how it evolved. Right now it reminds me of when I was young. I can picture my grandfather’s pipe collection. The tobacco here feels unburnt and refined. It dominates the opening with a mature sweetness that reminds me of a cigar humidor. This smells like an expensive cigar, not a swisher. There is depth here. As it settles, I detect vanilla and resin woven through the tobacco. I also sense a faint liqueur or bourbon nuance that gives it warmth without turning it sugary. It feels textured and composed, not loud or flashy. This fragrance feels nostalgic, but not dated. It carries a sense of lineage and quiet confidence. I am still deciding whether I prefer this or Bois du Portugal, but Centaurus has quickly moved to the front of the line for a future Creed purchase. It is enjoyable to wear, and that matters as much as any emotional attachment. This is not hype. This is recognition.

Recieved my samples of Creed's recent fragcom meltdown releases. Sprayed two shots of this on and was prepared to curse my usual Creed's going downhill speech. But wait, finally something different and unexpected from the machine. It's evolution from the stuffy old boardroom pencil pushers, it has good sillage, it has good longevity. Complete suprise attack from Creed. It's hefty and it followed me around reminding with every waft that in the world of flankers, elixirs and repetition that I was for once suprised and excited to find it. It reminded me of Triumph of Baccus except the colors were blurred and ouside the lines. Strong, sweet spicy tobacco and vanilla that announces you as you strut through the room. Would I pay full price? No but I don't really pay full price for anything these days. But I will purchase a bottle to keep my Royal Oud company.

A delightful nighttime Fall scent that reminds me of a slightly more refined/sophisticated version of my Fall go-to Burberry London; Centaurus is slightly sweeter and without the more obvious tobacco note as London. The cinnamon and the amber come through so nicely and help to give you that nice warm, cozy feeling that we all enjoy as the weather cools down and those nights start to get chilly. Longevity is healthy and the moderate sillage I think actually serves this scent well. I'm a bit surprised that Creed bills this as unisex, as it reads quite masculine to me. I'm sure a woman can get away wearing it, but I'm not sure why she would bother when there are surely more overtly feminine fragrances available with similar DNA. This is a Fall/Winter compliment getter for a gentleman over 30 seeking a sophisticated, inviting, and warm nighttime fragrance.

As a cinnamon lover and a true fan of Oajan and Spicebomb infrared EDT. Its like a mix of them. This is solid. Not versatile sadly. But this is an amazing scent. Just smelling the scent, I wouldnt be able to tell that this a Creed. But to me thats a positive thing. Brands are allowed to adapt imho. It doesnt feel like its losing anything by smelling a bit different. Forget about those die hard fans as they will always be disappointed. They will just find a new house to rave about and complain about the same thing as the house would need to adapt to a newer market. Circle of life. Back to the scent. This is amazing stuff. I think if you have PDM Oajan or Spicebomb infrared edt. You can skip this. If you are looking for a cinnamon forward night out scent for the cold or cool weather and have money to burn. This is a solid option! Its truly special.

Distinctive, unique, and (in my humble opinion) very under-rated. Yes, Creed gets a lot of irrational hate. Batch variations? Welcome to the world of natural ingredients. Expensive? Absolutely. But guess what? No one's forcing you to buy it. And isn’t it ironic that the biggest critics are often the first hunting desperately for dupes? Maybe the fact that Creed is so relentlessly copied says everything you need to know about its desirability and quality. And speaking of quality, this juice is undeniably top-notch. Lasts for DAYS on clothing, projects nicely without smacking people in the face, and those resinous, spiced amber notes? Absolute perfection for autumn and festive vibes. I grabbed a 100ml bottle and am practically begging the leaves to start falling so I can spray liberally and live my best autumnal life.

I love drinking the ROOIBOS SPICY PASSION tea from Palais Des Thes. It is made up of Rooibos with chai spices, such as cardamom, ginger and cinnamon. It smells and tastes exactly like this perfume! This is dark, manly and sweet. There is a manly body odor in the background, making this sexy. It sort of makes me think of L'eau d'Hiver, but amped up to the extreme and done in a more manly way. It stays forever as a skin scent, which at this point becomes very similar to Grand Soir. Hmmm so good. Its two main layers are a manly, deep, animalic background, and on top sizzling freshness, sweetness and spiciness. I think that combination makes it pretty sexy. It is long lasting, but smooth, and it smells expensive and regal. It took me a few tests to truly appreciate it, and to realize that it's pretty great.

At the first sample, it gave me a headache, maybe because I was spraying a lot of perfumes that day in the mall. Then I gave it another shot and tried a few sprays in the Creed shop, and now I started to like and understand the smells. It has a vibe similar to French Leather by Memo. It's very Creed quality, not overpowering, but has pleasant and addictive smells. Very unique I'd never smell any similar scent. Fall and winter will be better. The price is too much at the shop, but I got a good deal with my seller. Updated: after 2 weeks of using it...it projects well in a couple of minutes maybe 30-45mins...then it becomes skin scent after an hour. The disappointing part is it only lasts for 4 hours. What happens to Creed's quality? I started to love this scent but I'm sad with the longevity.

Creed on beast mode fellas. I applied 3 sprays and smelled this all day long. I wish I could say that about my other frags from the house. When I first smelled it, I honestly didn’t like it at first. After a third use it was more approachable. Not sure if some of the ingredients had to mix or what but anyways.... It’s like a warm and spicy cinnamon tobacco that hangs around your neck all damn day. I get the comparisons to a candle. Today I’m wearing to a thanksgiving family dinner, and that feels like a great time for it. Is it worth the price tag?? Only if you’re a Creed fanboy like me...otherwise I know you can find something a little easier to wear for the season. I do like it for what it is though. 7/10 for me.

This is definitely one of the better spicy-Tobacco fragrances I've smelt, however the tobacco itself is quite dark, but not dark enough to be completely off putting, the spices in the opening are very high quality and all quite nice to me as someone who enjoys Spicy notes, but after it dry down it becomes a Tobacco-Vanailla fragrance with a big helping or benzoin and florals to balance it out, definitely a nice fragrance which I can see people really liking. It's good for the cooler weather, and I get medium projection with pretty good longevity, this fragrance albeit not for me, is both well made artistically and definitely one of the better tobacco scents one should try. Final Verdict is a 7/10 for me

Sweet, warm & spicy. The cardamom certainly comes through in the opening. This is probably just a little too sweet for me though, and the main issue I have with this (that is not really a problem for most people and is a + for some) is that it doesn't have any really sharp edges. It's just a really well blended, round, mass-appealing fragrance that is of very high quality and of good taste. A lot of people say this lacks complexity but I certainly disagree, I think it's just because it's a very well blended fragrance & sometimes that can give the impression of it being simple or linear, when in reality that's just not true. 8.5/10

Imo creed is the most overpriced and overhyped house there is, not 1 scent is worth the money. I think they should start investing in the performance and longevity of their scents because they last like EDT's, only this and aventus absolu lasts more than 3 hours. In fact this is their only good fragrance is you exclude aventus and aventus absolu which im sure everyone is sick of from thousands of dupes and twists. Centaurus is such a cozy sweet tobacco fragrance thats not in your face awful like red tobacco mancera, but more refined and grounded. Definetly classy, winter and fall for night only. Overall: 8/10 tbh

Absolutely intoxicating. It's one of those scent profiles that you try and it's just good at first but for some reason you can't stop smelling yourself for hours on end. Gives off a luxurious and effervescent apple cherry like spiced cinnamon and peppered musky woods scent profile Longevity is about 6.5-8 hours on my skin and projection is great for the first hour before tapering off from hour 2 onwards. One thing I have noticed is those around me say it's nice but that I've worn better scents which I agree it's not groundbreaking but it is a very nice scent profile to the wearer if you're into its syrupy DNA!

This is a very nice fragrance and totally different in style than one would expect from Creed. Very masculine and not something anyone under 40 would likely enjoy. I get cherry cough syrup and eucalyptus initially and it dries down to vanilla, tonka bean and a touch of cinnamon. Very long lasting with medium projection. About as “beast mode” as it gets from Creed. I really like Centaurus and respect the different direction they went in for this and Delphinus, but Delphinus is better.

This fragrance made me believe in maturation/oxidation/whatever you want to call it. In a brand new bottle, the opening is quite harsh and synthetic. But after a few wears and a month later, the harshness is gone, and it's super smooth. Centaurus is surprisingly complex when the spices, florals, sandalwood, and resins mix and fluctuate in strength throughout the wear experience. The dry down is where the magic is (and where clones can't compare).

What a bunch of losers all of you who are talking shit bro. I guarantee you guys haven't even smelled this, let alone actually let it develop on you. The scent is a pretty good smell, nothing too crazy, which creed is known for its intimacy, but overall it's a pretty good scent. I guarantee all the ones commenting talking shit are the ones who buy Club de Nuit and swear up and down that its smells just like avenues, fyi it doesn't.

I feel sad for the people who rated this fragrance as bad one This fragrances the strongest one from the house seductive af I got 6 compliments no joke I didn't get close to anyone so much like 3-4 meters away projects for hours I think the opening is a little bit medicinal but goes away after 10-15 minutes becomes unique masculine tabac vanille fragrance but not like tobacco vanille I rate this fragrance 9/10

If you’re a woman who enjoys wearing unisex fragrances like Parfums de Marly Althaïr or Tom Ford Ombre Leather, you might really enjoy this one. It’s long-lasting with great projection. I often catch myself pausing in the middle of something just to appreciate how amazing it smells on me, and I can’t help but smile whenever I wear this fragrance. Highly recommend but try before you buy...

I smelled it and immediately thought, “ this is the one “. This is a stunning spicy tobacco fragrance that screams elegance and class. It’s one that you smell and you can NOT get it out of your mind. Finally a Creed fragrance that smelled like it’s worth the money. This stuff is so special I honestly don’t think it could ever be duped 1:1. Kind of like LV Imagination.

Absolutely phenomenal fragrance and so underrated. This is creeds 2nd best fragrance imo behind absolu aventus. The pink pepper note in this just puts the icing on the cake. Its a warm and cosy scent that opens quite harsh but the drydown is just amazing. This is one of creeds longest lasting fragrances i get about 8-10 hours longevity and 2 hours good projection

One of the best Creeds. Sweet, spicy, creamy, tobacco and cinnamon. Very nice vanilla, floral, patchouli bases. Light and playful. Sometimes I miss a minimal oud, which would give it more depth. I solve this "problem" with a hint of Oud Zarian layering ;) Or if you like mixing perfumes: the 9:1 ratio works best for me (9 units centaurus and 1 unit Oud Zarian).

I received a decant of this recently and as soon as I smelled it, I knew I had smelled this before. I wracked my brain for days trying to figure out what it was and I finally have. One of my favorite vintage frags, MCM (Mode Creation Munich) Obelisk. This smells like it could be a dupe of that fragrance!! Since I love that one, I now love this one too!!

I am surprised that this doesnt get more love. Everyone complains about Creed's performance and this one is beast mode. Its not thay ground breaking, but it smells fantastic! Its very masculine as well. I love when expensive fragrances arent popular because you can pick them up dirt cheap. I paid $15 for a 10ml. 8.25/10 for this 3 seasons frag.

Absolutely beautiful scent! One my all time favourites... from Dior!! Note for note, on my skin, the same as Tobacolor by Dior. If you own that, this is totally redundant in my opinion. Both excessively expensive, but Creed knocks it out the park in price. That said, I’ll always have a bottle of Diors offering, well until they discontinue it.

Reminiscent of Morton & Bassett Cinnamon French Toast, dense whipped cream, Bookers Rare Cut Bourbon, Barrel Aged Black Tobacco, and syrupy A&W Cream Soda. Centaurus is rich, deep, and hazy. An unabashedly mass-appeal fragrance with just the right amount of Creed DNA. It’s manufactured addiction in a bottle. Hypnotic and wildly addictive.

To me this was one of the best releases in 2024! I truly love the dry down , it's ambery and warm but also has a dry woody base with a vintage 90's feel to it. A must have for winter. I normally don't care about compliments wearing fragrances but I have to admit the compliments I got with this fragrance were unreal! Love it!

Being a Creed lover i recently went to get another bottle of Absolu Aventus, picked up Royal Mayfair while I was at it....SMH. smelled this for the first time while I was there....WOW blew me away. They gave me a 30ml decanter for buying the others. After it goes this definitely will be my next Creed.

First off.....WOW. Yes its pricey BUT....the projection and longevity its incredible. I am wearing a tester of Aventus, Original Vetiver, and Centaurus. All I can smell is Centaurus. Its sweet, spicy, amber with pitted caramelised dark red berries. Deep, warm, and very seductive. Absolutely 10/10

I love this fragrance. When I first smelled it I found it overpowering. But I got samples and have been wearing it for a week. It grew on me and now I love it. It is an old school masculine scent. My signature scent is Aventus but will be complementing it with this. Great fragrance from Creed.

Sampled this today. Ooooh now this is my speed, I feel stupid overlooking it everytime I passed by a Creed stand in favor of their other, fresher fragrances. This is super sexy, super classy, spicy but still very wearable? I would definitely wear that on a date or on special occasions.

This is not something new or spectacular, but it's too good! ❤️ Very strong, long lasting. Perfectly blended sweet, creamy, spicy tobacco. There's something addictive about it. It reminds me of my forever #1 discontinued Tom Ford Noir pour femme.

What a performance. This perfume gets 14-16 hours longevity on my skin. Absolutely beast mode. I love tobacco, cardamon, cinnamon and vanilla notes in the cold weather and Centaurus has all in one. Holy underrated

This is incredible! Smells nothing like tobacco red and those that everyone else seems to suggest. To me it smells super unique although it vaguely resembles Antidote by V&R, at least in the opening.

I have received my sample yesterday: for now I prefer this way over layton. Its not that loud, but longer lasting: I could still smell it 12h after application. Scent itself is just beautiful!

Just a quick note to say that this does actually work incredibly well in the summer! It lightens up, becomes slightly more fresh with more zing. This truly is an all year round fragrance....

Opens big cherry syrupy to my nose - instantly reminded of naxos and pure havane Definitely get the comparison to Triumph Of Bacchus as well Its ok - not really my thing as its too sweet imo

I tried it on my skin it smelled phenomenal on me it was it was created for me there's something about it (you need to try it on skin not on paper strips It smells different )

All year rounder! It's a light, sweet scent. People who are in niche world won't be as amazed when this could remind them of Acqua di Gio or some light affordable scent.

Man this is addictive, nothing groundbreaking but still makes you come back to it. Performance is also great, radiates off of my sleeve for the 3rd day now.

This one is incredibly cozy and festive. It has a similar vibe to Grand Soir, and it’s easily my top pick from the entire batch I’ve tried.

It's a sweeter grand soir and more beautiful and sophisticated also it reminds of amouage outlands, as if both had a baby that will be it

Beast mode boozy-cherry-tobacco with hints of Jo Malone's Myrrh & Tonka. Absolutely insane. Quality is outstanding. Love it.
