Feuille Verte

Creed Feuille Verte, originally released in 2006 and then re-released in 2011 (both times as a limited edition), has been talked up as one of the best Creeds and I’m really quite taken with it, myself. It’s a citrus floral bouquet that’s densely arranged, feeling a bit more robust and less transparent than most offerings (many of which I love), and has a savory and soapy quality that makes it feel so well-though-out and refined. The note breakdown is a relatively simple list of mandarin, lime, oakmoss, vanilla, rose, and jasmine. I suspect the oakmoss/rose combination is what gives the fragrance more heft than some of its freshie counterparts, and renders it an instant classic in my book. I’m very impressed with this and would love to try and find an atomizer / 75ml of it at some point. It’s no slouch of a performer, either, giving fairly robust projection for several hours. 8 out of 10

Just acquired one of the limited edition flacons, and I must say this is truly astounding! This isn't a fragrance you would wear every day, but one I'd save for worthwhile occasions. You won't smell like everyone else, and it's a total winner for anyone who enjoys green fragrances -- this is a very elegantly stated green with the right amounts of jasmine, citrus and a dash of vanilla to balance it all out. Very classically Creed, finished well, definite Creed signature notes. I'd dare suggest that if you like Green Irish Tweed, you'll adore Feuille Verte. Classic in all senses of the word -- this is one they got absolutely right. Bravo!

Just received yesterday.reminds me of a walk in the leaves with your loved one on an overcast day. A little blast when you apply.longevity poor but what creed isnt. Don't buy it for longevity buy it because it puts you like most creeds the captain of the ship. Enjoy it's the real deal.

Powdery, green, citrus, rose, jasmine. Definitely feels a little fussy and staid, but it does manage to be pleasant and not overly heavy despite the aforementioned descriptors. "Feuille Verte" strikes me as a funny name, as there are quite a few aromachemicals that smell "leafy" and "green," and this smells like none of those. Definitely more citrus/moss/floral than anything. Definitely smells nice ON an outdoorsy walk, but this wouldn't be confused for anything except for perfume/a scent vs some photorealistic impression of nature. I feel as if lovers of Vintage Tabarome might enjoy this more floral, less overtly "masc" scent in a similar genre. Caron's Eau de Caron and Alpona give similar vibes--they're not exactly accessible per se, but decants of Eau de Caron can be found for decent prices!

I consider this a unique take on a modern chypre, with a bright citrus and floral opening. Bulgarian rose and lime accord create a stunning balance, offering a delicate masculinity. This soon gives way to a creamy vanilla and earthy oakmoss in the dry down. Subtle hints of fragrant jasmine pierce through, imparting the fragrance with a sweet and exotic scent. Obviously this is not for every man, as most will find the floral notes too feminine. Respectively, this is perfect for the modern, refined gentleman who can appreciate the finer things in life. Olivier Creed has created something very special here. (69)

When the best thing you can say about a fragrance is that it fades within an hour, you know you have a problem. The current trend of saying that every fragrance is "for men and women", in order to double your sales with the same fragrance, has really got to stop. Sweet, sharp, vegetal and with a dusty feminine rose and cloying jasmine, I can't imagine anyone actually liking this. Perhaps if they have Creed FOMO?

This smells like incense and old man

I am quite a fan of Creed and that's why it's with a heavy heart that I have to write a not so excited verdict for one of their perfumes. I find almost all other Creed fragrances to be very nuanced, with multiple notes that dance around, and create a symphony that changes over time. Most other Creeds remind me of exotic places or suggest a mood. Sadly, I feel that this perfume is like "Original Vetiver" on steroids. They are both dominated by a strong "green" note. The one in Vetiver is milder, sweeter, and more pleasant, while the one in Feuilles Vertes is more dry and disagreeable. This "green" is in my opinion most likely synthetic and does produce a disagreeable "bugspray" note as mentioned on basenotes which I also experienced when applied to test paper-so I recommend testing on your skin instead. Another reviewer on basenotes compared this to a paper towel smell. Perhaps it is dihydromercenol. I believe there is a component that is also included in Chevrefeuille but it's much better executed in that perfume. The best description I have seen is a green Acier Aluminum. The drydown about three hours later becomes pleasing. It might be my particular nose-I may be less sensitive to florals once this green fragrance hits me, but another explanation might be batch variations and the fact that I bought this as a leather wrapped atomizer at Bergdorf. If the very limited re-release in 2013 was from the 2011 batch, it's possible that the floral notes evaporated out of the atomizer by this point. I am not sure if I will gamble on a flacon.

There's some dusty citrus in the opening, nothing too zesty, and some floral whispers later on, but oakmoss is an indisputable hero of this story from start to finish. The scent is pretty linear on me. It may seem monotonous, even boring, but I never perceive it as such, because I like shifting my focus between its superficially similar facets - the earthy and grounded, the green and intellectual and the woody and calming one. It does start leaning masculine eventually, but it's perfect this way and I really like it on myself. I recognise jasmine amongst the floral undertones once the short-lived citrus opening has waned, rose is much harder for me to detect, but the result is a discreet and elegant floral undercurrent that smoothens the fragrance. I'm a big fan of the perfume's earthy facet. It reminds me a little of the smell of a dusty dirt road in the summer, the bit where open grass fields change into dark green woods. It's a handsome, unfussy perfume, one that would rather complement the look, like a tailored cotton shirt, or a neat dress, instead of calling attention to itself. Very well-crafted but short-lived: I get only three or four hours from it.
