Green Valley

I finally got my hands on a decant of this after years of hearing about the hype. My initial reaction was that it was a subdued and less bold take on GIT. It shares a strong violet leaf accord with my vintage bottle of GIT (late 90s), and has that same Gasoline-like quality that I can taste in the air for about 30 minutes after spraying on my neck and shirt lapel. I found the initial presence of GV to be a bit underwhelming. I found it to be pleasant, but hardly stupendous, and I was wondering why people spend thousands on a bottle. Then the dry down rolled in like a sultry and sumptuous vixen. The ambergris base took over, and I was transported directly to the heavens above. It is a very subtle and subdued drydown, but every now and then I will catch a whiff of it and think that perhaps I've just died and ascended. It is sublime, and I can understand the value in owning a bottle of this. The scent has something so familiar to it, which I can only compare to that of the most classic and exquisite five star hotels. Think Hotel Bel Air or the Montreal Ritz Carlton, enjoying a drink in the lounge, hand in hand and in the throes of love, with some Nat King Cole playing. There is something both fleeting and reassuring about GV starting at about 90 minutes after spraying it. Is it worth the obscene markup for a full bottle? No, not unless I had unlimited money. But it is worth the rather extravagant price of $25 per ml for a decant. I'm glad I became acquainted with this peculiar and enchanting fragrance. I will be saving it for special occasions with special someones.

I'm very excited about this one, because I view it as the Creed that out-Creeds their star player, Green Irish Tweed, in spite of (or thanks to?) their similarities. I think that they've captured some of the points I liked about my long lost Gendarme Green, and combined them favorably with GIT. The opening is a crisp, sharp, sweet blue-green, which turns very astringent very quickly with a short-lived lemon and a longer-lived spearmint. This all sounds very familiar I'm sure, but GV is dustier and grassier than GIT is at this stage. The mint and herbs give it a more mountain-meadow vibe, whereas GIT is down on the plains where it's warmer but the AC is on via the cooling influence of the violet. GV even brings in just a trace of those strong, pithy herbs that seemed so over the top in Chevrefeuille Original. All this time it's been a bit shifty and uncertain, but once it finally settles down, the base is one of the cleanest, brightest, truest grass scents I've encountered. It has less fruit and more sunshine than Greenergy or Bobby Jones, and not as much violet as GIT, as if sweet herbs from Burberry original or D+G original had been introduced. The biggest advantage GV has over GIT, though, is its strength and longevity. I can smell the full grass experience pretty strongly after many hours, under circumstances where GIT would have faded to a mere violet memory. Being forever in the shadow of GIT, GV doesn't get talked about as much, but is very worthwhile to seek out as a substitute or on its own.

This one is magic in a bottle. I picked this up as a tester back in 2010 and wore it to work for a short time. I recall regularly while going up the stairs at the workplace, groups of women would say... somebody smells really good. I had numerous female coworkers ask me what this was, and where they could get it for their man. I told them that it was hard to get, and was discontinued. I will agree with the GIT reference, but this is a better take on GIT IMO. I had GIT and it never gave the same reaction. GIT had the best lemon top of all time maybe, but maybe because that scent profile was watered down by Cool Water, it never stood out. But this one... yes. People speak to a mythical panty dropper scent. If one exists, if I ever had one that was maybe a major contributor, it is this one. It has a cut green grass feel at the top, but it fades, and the dry down is pure magic. I won't get into the details but there's something about this one. Maybe it's the natural ambergris, which this one does have. Not sure. If it was ever brought back, it surely wouldn't have real ambergris in it. I still have a quarter bottle of this and no matter how much it sells for on Ebay, someone would have to pry it from my cold dead hands to have it. Even though I rarely wear it, as I am saving it... I would miss this one in particular if I did sell it.

Same as I posted on the Dunhill Icon Racing page, I cannot see the similarity in these two. Green Valley is maybe the most verdantly Green fragrance I've ever smelled. Icon Racing is not. And when I wear Green Valley the first thing that hits my nose is green, and the last thing that hits my nose is....you guessed it, green. So the accord stack listed on this Fragrantica page is ridiculous. Instead of being at the very bottom of the accord stack, "green" should be at the very top. This is as bad as the Fragrantica accord stack listing for Creed EROLFA, which ridiculously doesn't even have the accords of "marine" or "aquatic" listed. But man o man I wish this frag weren't vaulted. It's just about impossible to find any longer. Passed into history. But there are clones. I'm wearing a Dua hybrid of Green Valley and Green Irish Tweed right now, and it is really good. Update: I'm currently wearing the ScentualObsessions clone of Green Valley and it is fantastic. Really close to the real thing in scent profile. Update 4/11/25: Wearing the Phoenix Shaving clone of Green Valley now. Plus their deodorant stick of Green Valley 😂. Its pretty good.

The excruciating regret of having sold my giant bottle of Green Valley because I thought I was "over" my perfume collection in 2014-2015. It was a dazzling, vivacious green mandarin and sparkling bergamot with a minty-buchu cassis heart and mastic resin. Its dry down was heavenly, with this fine-milled soap bubble and Creed's signature ambergris base dry down. It smelled like optimism to me even as the world seemed to be collapsing in 2008 when I purchased it. I was wearing it the day it was announced my whole department was laid off during the financial meltdown, but I recall continuing to apply it while returning to school to finish my undergrad, recalling accomplishment and ambition. As I write this, I'd love to smell it again, even if from a small vial—to wear it again and relive some of that time of my life could possibly revive me.

One of the vaulted Creed scents that really should make a come back. A lovely scent, perfect for spring and summer yet can be worn all year round. It really does live up to its namesake ‘green’; the ambergris, blackcurrant, musk....balanced perfectly. I detected mint from memory. A lot of folk will come here wanting to know whatbit smelt like - I would have worn this over a period of 10 years or so along with my signature, Green Irish Tweed. First GIT and GV are indeed two very different scents. Green Valley holds more similarities to the following: - Fahrenheit - Paul Smith (original green) - 1869 Acca Kappa - Dsquared Wood Etc etc....if you have smelt any of the above, you will know the style it resembles. Over the years I believe 1869 and Paul Smith hold the closest resemblance (albeit not the same quality).

I don’t know if my sample was watered down, but it evaporated almost instantly. I get the idea. Just buy an expensive vintage bottle and dilute it with alcohol until you have 10 bottles. Then sell 1ml decants for $20 each. This is how a ton of BS hype over a decent fragrance can drive money into the pockets of crooks. I don’t trust most reviews anymore for this reason. The other scam I’m noticing is how a bunch of retailers with review channels collude to hype up a particular fragrance (at the moment, Tauer MDA). Don’t fall for it. When you see any hype, wait 2 years and try it out. Up theirs. The scent itself is quite beautiful, actually. They need to bring it back in some form.

Green Valley is highly enjoyable in my opinion. I find the comparisons of a mix between Green Irish Tweed and Silver Mountain Water interesting. GIT has quite a violet note to my nose which by itself takes it in a much different direction that GV to me. I love GIT, but it's just much different that GV to me. SMW has such a strong green tea note that overpowers everything else in my opinion and over time I have to scrub it off. Green Valley is very pleasing to me and I really enjoy it. I'd love to get my hands on a full bottle of Green Valley but it's difficult to find. If anyone is looking to sell a FB of Green Valley, I'd be interested.

This fragrance is so good! You get a minty grassy vanilla with hints of blueberry. Sounds good? It is, belive me. Dont be shocked from the opening it can be a little harsh, but after 5- 10 minutes its one of the best smells you can get from a fragrance. Only issue would be the longavity like with all creeds. Projection is beastly for the first 2 hours *you will fill rooms with this stuff*.. but after that it sits pretty close to the skin. If you like GIT you will adore this. Its such a shame that Green Valley does not get the attention it desirves :- ( Easily one of my top 5 in my collection out of like 40 fragrances

If you like Green Valley, try Lentisque by Phaedon. They’re remarkably similar. The Creed is richer and lasts longer, and has more of a vanilla and ambergris base. What gives Green Valley its peculiar dry piney bite is mastique or lentisque. The aptly named Phaedon scent is slightly sharper and more of a cologne than a parfum. What’s missing from the Phaedon “poor man’s” version is the characteristic creaminess of Green Valley.

Masterpiece - in terms of craftsmanship, this is the pinnacle of Creed. Aventus is beautiful in its own right, and very creative, but I feel like nothing has ever surpassed this as the finest made fragrance from Creed. Every note so well placed, with such effortless perfection and carefree intentionality, truly showing the world how French perfumery is done, and answering why at the same time. Please bring this back Creed.

I have a 99% full 120ml bottle of this beauty. They don't make them like this anymore. At least in newer Creeds sprayers are not leaky like this one. Aquatic that lasts a long time. This is a unique green which stays fresh, minty and clean. Others are comparing to a very wide range of different fragrances (from Irish Spring to CKOne), but I really don't have anything else like it in my collection. I am not a big fan of grassy fragrances, except for this.

Best Creed. Full stop. I think this was just ahead of its time. Basically a refined green fragrance that absolutely works awesome today. Incredible stuff but super rare. Should be brought back into production.

A very naturally green scent, very clean and crisp, not unlike Irish Spring soap but due to the quality of the ingredients this smell much, much better... I would have thought this would be an aromatic green, because the definition of chypre (flowers in the top and/or heart and a dry down of woods, mosses and/or musk) does not really fit here. There are actually no floral notes in this and it begins as a warm and woody green that becomes sweeter in the heart with light fruity notes touched with vanilla and the green is added to by the mint. The ultimate drydown is musky with a slight spicy warmth. I love GREEN scents and this is a nice one, but the sillage is weak(on me) and the longevity, though decent could be better for the asking price. I enjoyed my sample and applied it after showering with a 'green' shower gel and a palm leaf based lotion and applied it lightly (fearing an attack of Irish Spring!)and then again, before dressing and still strained to smell it. I can't see buying this in a large bottle although I would consider a 1 ounce cologne if the price was right, because it is a very beautiful natural aroma. I was using a vial sample and not a spray and maybe that is why it seemed more a skinscent on me. I have half the 3 ml sample left and will try it again when the days draw colder and see if August's heat diminished it's power... Sillage: very close Longevity: average to good Overall: 3.5/5 If Homme Nature by YR was the color of grass, GV would be a pale spring green. This is a very fresh and clear soapy smelling scent so IrishSpring soap is a very good comparison, though in my opinion it is 1000 times better and infinitely more luxurious. It does remind me of some of the green meadows and forest glens I played in as a child. I would love to own a FB, but there are better Creed scents I wish to acquire first and since it is relatively new, compared to how long some Creeds have been around, I am hoping it is not discontinued any time soon...

A very hyped and elusive discontinued Creed fragrance, Green Valley is, as it is generally described, a fresh green fragrance with elements of mint and juniper. I don't really get much as far as the listed ginger note, as I'd usually find it cloying enough to ruin the fragrance if used in any great quantity. The drydown has the signature Creed ambergris/musk combination and is pleasant as usual. As expected for a Creed warm-weather-friendly fragrance, Green Valley is not especially powerful with respect to projection or longevity, but it certainly has enough of both, on par with their other entries in this broad category. Certainly an interesting try and nice freshie, but not worth the exorbitant cost one would expect in order to acquire a full bottle, Green Valley is a solid entry in the Creed empire and I can see how some might love it enough to need it. A basic search shows only one offer on eBay for $250 for 30ml, so pricing is pretty steep nowadays. 7 out of 10

Beautiful fresh clean and soapy fragrance. I really enjoy this. The note list for the opening and mid have me perplexed. This is like smelling a stream rolling through a beautiful field of grass. Seeing bergamot, ginger and currant has me perplexed. Must mean that this is so well blended that all of that combined gives off this glorious fresh field DNA. The base is noticeable...as I do get a clean soapy musk as well as the ambergris. For clean fragrances to wear to work in spring/summer, or to spray on when wearing a white t-shirt...not much can top this. Longevity is around 6 hour mark...projection is moderate. Could be unisex. For clean fresh soapy DNAs, I haven’t come across much that tops this. I highly recommend you get a sample to check this out.

Soo I've had my eyes on this for years but wasn't prepared to pay the ridiculous prices floating around. Finally got one for a fair price.. 120ml for the same price as a new MI or VIW. After spraying I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. The blackcurrant and ambergris are very prominent and tbh this smells a lot like either a MI or SMW flanker. I enjoy both of them fragrances a lot, so I'm not complaining. Would have been nice for it to be a lot more original or daring though.. but it is what it is. I'll probably keep it until the Spring, give it a full wearing, and then sell it on. In summary it's worth trying just to see what all the hype is about, but imo isn't worth paying silly money for.

While other Creed perfumes are very soft, this one is strong and loud. Starts out almost exactly like Vetiver 1948, very spicy and masculine. About a minute later gets a soapy overtone followed by the green Irish spring soap with spicy note. I enjoy the mint, which cools as it evaporates! The herbal and spicy notes balance the green aspect of the fragrance very well. Very good surprise!

This stuff is nice, The opening smells similar to Bowling Green Imo or just imagine the smell of fresh cut grass in the summer morning. Then the middle notes of vanilla and mint ; which stand out to me most among the others. Lastly, you get the ginger and musk with the mint still making itself known in the background. Very Nice.

I haven't found anything quite like it and is also one of my favorite Creed's! Refreshing, clean and sweet. What you will experience once taking a whiff is wild mint, violet leaves and blackcurrant over a base of oak moss, sandalwood, patchouli and musk. Unique and very nice!!

Please note that I have written the following review based on my experience with a rather small decant of Green Valley. As such, I haven’t had as much time with this fragrance as I would normally like before posting a review, but I felt compelled to give my 2 cents on this particular scent, as it seems to be ranked as a holy grail for many Creed collectors. Further, it’s worth mentioning that green fragrances are far from my favourites, so I may critique this more harshly than an avid lover of all things green. Green Valley is a charming fragrance. The comparisons to a hybrid Green Irish Tweed/Silver Mountain Water are apt, but that’s only part of the story. To my nose, contrary to all the reviews mentioning how sharp Green Valley is, I find it to be far smoother than GIT. In comparison to the lemon verbena present in GIT, the bergamot and mandarin top notes here are far more subdued. The signature Creed ambergris is certainly present, and compliments the fragrance well. I don’t get as much blackcurrant as I’d like, which is certainly a shame. All in all, Green Valley is a lovely, albeit somewhat linear fragrance. This doesn’t work against it, mind you. Ever since the release of Aventus in 2010, Creed seems to be deadset on over complicating every subsequent fragrance release. A relatively simplistic fragrance that aims to do one job and do it well is, comparatively, a breath of fresh air. With that said, Green Valley fails to excite. I don’t know that I would necessarily call it boring, but to me, it doesn’t cover any ground that the house of Creed hasn’t trod before. While GIT is by no means a perfect replacement for Green Valley, it comes close enough to the point where the several hundred dollar difference becomes, in my opinion, insurmountable. For the hardcore green fragrance lovers, this may be worth a pickup; but certainly not at the $1.5-2k price ranges we’re seeing. And to everyone, I heartily recommend trying before buying. Even decant prices are ridiculous, but it’s better to be out $30 than $600+. Despite how pleasant and well made this fragrance is, it is FAR from blind buy safe.

Creed IRISH SPRING, er, GREEN VALLEY opened with such promise: a lively aromatic vetiver with a lemon verbena vibe. Unfortunately, things went downhill fast shortly thereafter. To be precise: down deep into a valley replete with Irish springs connected by Irish streams, in which bars of Irish Spring soap are floating by, jostling one another, bobbing up and down with the ebb and flow of the Creed water frothy slosh. I have nothing personally against Irish Spring soap--although I do prefer white Dial--and this fragrance may well work for gents who harbor latent (or manifest!) fears of smelling too "perfumed". But this is not a soapy drydown that I can recommend, and anyone who wants to wear this scent needs to apply it as perfume, for it just keeps growing bigger and bigger. And greener and greener, like a big green blob seeping into and filling every available volume of space. Yes, it is certainly safe to say that a little goes a long way: I applied but a tiny fraction of my vial (perhaps .3ml?), and I simply cannot get away from the monster sillage. While attempting to eat dinner, I felt as though my mouth was being washed out with a bar of Irish Spring soap. Now I see before my eyes bars of green marble-streaked Irish Spring soap everywhere around me, closing in on me. Will I succumb finally, crushed to nothing by the ever-approaching and multiplying bars as they continue to proliferate, filling the volume of space I currently occupy until all that remains is my limp body and oxygen-evacuated lungs? Nope, this soap's not for me. Nor, for the record, is it a chypre!

Saw it online for what some would consider a steal, $185 from a reputable vendor. With only one left in stock, I pulled the trigger. I have yet to smell a Creed that I didn't really like. But when I sprayed it on a tester, it didn't impress me. When I gave it a full wearing to work, I didn't really like it. I reminded me very much of Dior Fahrenheit with mint on the side. Not what I was expecting. 6/10

This smells almost similar to Carrillon pour un ange by Tauer but less harsher and less oily, the opening sharp and greenish but dries smooth with a unusual sweetness a fruity drydown with a glossy leather basenote effect which i find a bit cloying and uncomfortable to my senses and it has a minty edge when the harsh fruit and leather are ceasing. this is just an average scent to me nothing exciting.

The story is lovely. The box is lovely. The bottle is lovely. The scent is equal parts fruit, green plants, and headache.

Creamy pastel green overlacing bitter vetiver and fruit-tinged clovery freshness - this is exactly how Green Valley smells. The top is an explosion of cut grass, shaded by mint stems and ginger. Gradually the mint recedes and the ginger steps forward, accented by blackcurrant and vanilla. There are some who compare this to Fahrenheit by Dior - the blackcurrent somewhat replicates the hawthorne sweetness of Fahrenheit, and one could say they're similar, but I find the resemblance fleeting at best. Green Valley has none of the dark tarriness of Fahrenheit. It remains a bittersweet green chypre to the end. Comparisons to Green Irish Tweed are also commonly made. Green Valley shares GIT's violet leaf note, but that's it. Everything else about GV is different, and GIT never comes close to replicating the cool bitterness that fuels GV's opening. You'd never get a Cool Water vibe from Green Valley. (I suppose you might get a very, very vague Fahrenheit vibe, however.) The vetiver in this is under-appreciated - it is rendered in a moderate dose at the scent's core, enough to keep it from slipping into generic fruity-floraldom. Update 2024 (after years of pining for it): This is the true Lost Creed. If anyone at Kering has any sense, they'll bring this back. Frankly, after wearing many Creeds over the years, I think Green Valley was the best of them. There was something special about the bitter green top followed by a creamy, slightly vanillic ambergris base. More of a "green" fragrance than anything else I've ever smelled. Probably the best fragrance I've ever smelled, and I've smelled a lot.

An interesting hybrid of GIT and MI, with mint added. Less serious than GIT, but very likable and definitely worth a sample. More attractive packaging, with the clear cap, but that isnt saying much as Creed's packaging is pretty crap. I think this was vaulted because it sits between the old-school powerhouses like BdP and the new school kings of GIT / Aventus. It is very juicy and wet, and the millesime base sings more in this fragrance than probably any other Creed. To be honest, Im not entirely sure its worth the elevated prices a vaulted Creed demands (I doubt any of them are, really), but if you are sick of GIT / Cool Water and Aventus, but you want something in that vein with Creed's signature, I recommend you give this a try. You certainly wont run into anyone else wearing it, and it shines in the heat.

I like the mild, smooth mint but that doesn't last long with any strength. After that it's like a slightly smoother and more natural version of Bobby Jones Cologne, being quite "grassy." I like it but since I have a bottle of BJC, I don't feel the need to go on a hunt for this one. UPDATE: Over time, the grassy aspect dissipates quite a bit and I get the dry woody quality and the black currant (there's a touch of spice too). I don't find it that interesting now, as I've got some dry/woody scents that I hardly ever wear, including Rush for Men and Tam Dao.

I am lucky to been able to have perchased Green Valley, I have not warn it out yet to give a proper opinion yet but it smells like cut grass on a cold day with a little sweetness to it in the opening. In the dry down I can smell citrus and mint. I don’t think it should take the name of green Irish tweed because I actually think GIT is more greener or at least a different type of green. I honestly think GiT is better but I am happy to have Green Valley because of its rarity..... Question does anyone know why and when they stopped producing Green Valley?

This is lovely. I can see why it’s loved by a selected few. It’s basically a mashup of Green Irish Tweed and Silver Mountain Water. There’s something about the opening thats just so elegant and refreshing. Definitely picking up on petitgrain and spearmint, which makes it even more invigorating. With that being said, this is still a Creed fragrance, which means it’s overall safe, linear and inoffensive. Worth hunting down and paying a ridiculous vaulted price? IMO, no. You could easily just layer GIT and SMW and call it day, or try the DUA Clone.

Ahhh! Creed's Green Valley, what can I say about this. This is probably the closest to that Green Grass some where in the Valley that you have always dreamed about. This has to be one of my favorite all time fragrances ever and that's saying a lot. Everything put in this fragrance you can tell is so top notch and no one finds ingredients like creed. From the Mint to the bergamont to the ginger, it truly stands out. It seems like they could be bringing this out of retirement which is good for me. 2/3/13

Creeds delicate 90's mandarin in this formula has not held up to time in this fragrance well. It used to be a vibrant blast of ultra-complexity but today, the juice no longer does this justice if stored improperly and goes into twiggy black current or dull paper the more it ages improperly. Our grey market is on its knees with this one. Needs to be remade by Creed to todays formulaic standards, I. Believe they can ONLY do it.

I appreciate Rich's sentiment. GV is the greatest perfume I've ever smelled, but these ebay prices are totally absurd and anyone who pays them is equally so. Green Valley turns rancid after a few years, and winds up smelling like worn shoe leather. Here's to hoping (almost certainly in vain) that L'Oréal reformulates it back into existence and that it smells at least 80% like its former self, minus the volatility.

Beautiful and sadly vaulted fragrance :( I agree with other comments that this should have been the GIT! This smells exactly like what it says GREEN VALLEY: citrusy in the opening, berries and ginger-greenness will lead you to ambergris and musk dry down. I have the DUA clone of it, Vert Instinct, so get your nose on that if you want to have an idea: DUA is pretty close to the original, IMO.

This is a really nice unimposing fragrance. When it started it had a smell I just could not place. I think it may have been musk. Maybe genuine musk and not synthetic? Not sure. As time goes on I agree with others that it smells similar to Fahrenheit, but better. Seems to be dissipating quickly after 3 hours. I could see this being worn anytime by women or men. Sad to know it is vaulted.

I gifted this to my father and he loved it. He used to wear it daily, and sometimes, he would spray it on me too. I would love and enjoy its citrusy musk scent but sadly it's been discontinued. My father has asked me to look for a scent like this or a well-balanced inspiration of this one. Does any one know a similar scent or a perfect dupe for this scent?

Love this calm and harmonic scent. It smells like violet leaves. Imagine a citrusy vintage fahrenheit without gasoline. Invasion Barbare also has similarities to Green Valley. Spring in a bottle

sometimes I find it green, citrusy,masculine, then,suddenly,changes to opulent feminine jasmin....strange scent this one, not beetwen my most favourites but love to have in my collection

-Opens rather mild. Almost nondescript. -This is a rather 'dry' scent that a punch once it dries down. -Light scent that fades to nothingness within hours. -Leans masculine. (-)

green opening but the drydown will remind u about Silver Mountain Water or Milessime Imperiale. I guess their basenotes are more or less same.

Looking at the “this perfume reminds me of” area (Fahrenheit AND Mugler Cologne) now I want to try it.
