Love in Black 2024

At first spray, I was taken aback, but after about ten minutes later, I couldn’t stop smelling myself. It smells so good, but I don’t think it’s much different from the OG. I would have to revisit it later tonight, but if you like leather and raspberry, you would love this one! Good luck and happy blind buying.

Received this as a gift yesterday. I’ve never had the chance to smell the old version, so I can’t compare the two but oh wow. This was definitely not what I anticipated it to be. I expected a feminine, powdery, floral fragrance, at least that’s how a lot of people described the old version to be. This one starts off a bit fruity and green. I get that the notes are raspberry, cranberry, and violet leaves.. but to me, I get the violet leaves and for some reason, juniper berries?? I actually don’t detect florals at all, but just juniper berries, violet leaves, leather, and a lot of musk. If you’re into herringbone jackets, cashmere coats, black-rimmed glasses, navy/black/burgundy, this fragrance will definitely suit you! It reminds me of someone quiet and sophisticated, very calm and gentle. The new version is definitely not a 100% feminine fragrance. I can see men wearing this as well. I also LOVE the new packaging! Personally, I don’t prefer opaque/matte bottles. The new packaging is chic, sleek, and definitely unisex.

Love in black - aptly named. This is dark sensual violet. Was surprised by notes as I detect a boozy note ( rum) . If you like Guerlaine Insolence then this is it's older sister who loves going clubbing . Longevity is pretty solid - 4-6 hours Projection is strong Note: if you are not a fan of Parma violet sweets then this is not for you. This is a strong violet fragrance . If the cost is putting you off I highly suggest buying Guerlaine insolence ( same notes just not as long lasting )

I was talking with someone about perfume and violets and they mentioned Love in Black. I researched it and although there were mixed reviews, it was also described as violet, sweet, fruity even...so I ordered it and it arrived today. The first huge disappointment was the newly shaped bottle...on the Creed website, they show the old bottle so I thought that is what I was buying... that was not a good start. Anyhow, I sprayed this on my hand only once, one tiny spray and straight away I was delighted to smell a super realistic violet...but then...the leather came out...strong, bitter, all encompassing and prevailing...the violet was still there but it was being suffocated by the leather...the leather is not soft or delicate, it is strong and harsh...not impressed. I couldn't pick up any fruit whatsoever either... So, for now, I dislike it. I am going to see if I can return it, if not, I will leave it for a while and try again, see if my view of it changes... Review updated to say that Creed were incredibly gracious, they let me send it back and refunded me in full 🖤

This perfume has a lot of notes I usually reach for; raspberry, violet, jasmine etc. The opening was great, fruity and floral, and then within a minute or two a really gross damp wood smell completely took over. Not sure if it just doesn’t sit right on my skin but I was absolutely repulsed. Smelled like going into the garden shed and finding some old rotting kindle wood, could barely focus on anything else. It wasn’t just me that thought so, I had others smell it on me and they agreed it had turned damp and sour. Would not recommend a blind buy.
