Orange Spice

Orange Spice is one of the few staples in my collection. I would say that Orange Spice is more about ambergris (a very organic representation of it), moss and spices than the Orange that goes in the front row of the perfume's name, ironically. I have a twenty to thirty years old flacon, and needless to say that my closet smells like Orange Spice - the lid, the leather cover over the lid, the little thread around the leather cover over the lid, the box and all its surroundings smell like Orange Spice. It's "nuclear" indeed. And I can't say that this version is THAT soapy. About the popular comparison, it is VERY similar to Kouros (edit: not that much, but in the very same range). Obviously, if you try them side by side, it's possible to discern the differences. But if one tries them separately, it's very likely to find them the exact same or almost that. This one is rough, "hairy chest" unapologetic and it gives me a pictorial memory of an old green rug (I can't say why, though). Uber masculine and a product of its time (1970s to 1980s?), that meaning that some noses could find it "anachronistic". The pyramid shown here is certainly incomplete. Orange Spice strolls amongst citric, aromatic animalic, herbal, lavender-ish, spicy, mossy (yes, the oakmoss is very perceivable), chypre and fougère. Almost impossible to label or classify. My opinion: perfection! The benchmark of my masculine scents, even more than Antaeus. Pierre Bourdon is a genius! (yes, we all know that he is the nose behind this masterpiece, by now). 11/10

I am an avid collector of grey cap era Creed fragrances, and Orange Spice is by far my favorite. It is a wild ride, and I love every minute of it. The opening is savory and rich. It has a lovely detergent like quality to it that is thick and potent. It's wonderfully vintage in its comportment, and smells like nothing on the market today. The longevity is totally ridiculous, especially for a Creed fragrance. It lasts forever. I can still smell that rich and luscious ambergris dry down on my skin 24 hours after application. There is something simultaneously dirty and clean about this fragrance that I absolutely love. It is both fresh and animalic. People love to compare this to Kouros, but it's far superior. The immediate opening of Kouros is reminiscent of Orange Spice, but OS is a much nice fragrance the rest of the way. After about an hour, Kouros takes on a fairly mainstream drydown scent that reminds me of Polo Green, whereas there's nothing mainstream or cheap about Orange Spice. This is a wonderful fragrance, but I can see why it was discontinued. It is too complex and self possessed for today's mainstream buyer. In a world where people want Wild Vetiver and Oud Zarian, this is not something that would sell well. And that's exactly why I love it. It costs a fortune now, and nobody else will be wearing it. You can't beat that.

Smells exactly like the orange pumpkin soap sold as a Xmas special edition by Lush. This one does have that winter festival feeling in it. Nevertheless it's lovely. It's aromatic, almost delicious. Good to find a orangey scent not sour or sweet. I especially enjoy the amber and bit hint of musk in the base note, though I have to press my wrist harder against my nose to catch it. That's what makes this scent different from being soapy-the depth. Oh, and it lasts for ages, even as a EDT. To me it's definitely unisex, very easy to wear. It's a scent that would warm your heart.

I changed my mind. This stuff is actually good - and better than Kouros. As another gentleman here described, this is Kouros with Creed's budget. If you are sensitive enough you can pick up the neroli and bergamot which makes it gorgeous. The nasty part goes away fairly quick, leaving you with a barbershop kind of scent. I usually go for this or Invasion Barbare on days I feel very manly!

This is great stuff. If you're a fan of Kouros, then check this one out, it's discontinued/'vaulted' but still out there (I'm set, I have multiple bottles). It's probably a polarizing type of scent such as Kouros. I think this might be Creed's take on Kouros, such as.. Original Santal might be their take on MB's Individuel, and Himalaya might be their take on PR's XS. :).

Ok Creed, you win. I finally found a Creed scent that I find unwearable, even for my standards - I consider myself a very open person that can wear almost anything... except this! This is like Kouros and Paco Rabanne pour homme in a single potion and hell it stinks! Paco I like, but not Kouros, and this smells like public bathroom.

I love this smoky and spicy orange combination. The components balance each other very well. I tested it once and instantly fell for it. It's more old school. It's quite strong for Creed and lasts the longest out of the Creeds that I have experienced. Another good scent that was vaulted.

For men? I wear this in the winter--I love it, it is warm, rich, spicy/orange, not overpowering but lasts a long time. I would call this a unisex fragrance.

A discontinued gem of the Creed line, Orange Spice is, as its name suggests, an orange-dominant scent with slightly spicy elements. It's far more orange than spicy, and there are woody elements as well--some cedar, if I had to guess, since it's relatively soft in the dry down. I wouldn't argue that Orange Spice is an overly complicated scent, but it's a great mix---the correct proportion of orange, which I can find overwhelming in orange-intensive fragrances (i.e. Millesime Imperial, Arancia di Capri). I could see this working year-round and dressed up or down, as well. In short, its advertisement is fair, as the scent is essentially a longer-lasting citrus scent. Medium projection for an EDP (or EDT, as this is an older Creed scent), but very good longevity. Not one of Creed's absolute best but it's a fun orange versatile scent. 7 out of 10

Greetings I thought it would be a completely orange scent but it's not. It's name should be spice and ambergris. Opens with powerful spicy notes, most of which is black pepper and star aniseed. It has mid accords which feel like a fungus ridden leather jacket. I don't know but couldn't find a better example. It's may be due to the oak moss present in the original formulation or its herbal notes getting amalgamated with the spices. But doesn't feel ill or awful to nose. Citrus notes only stay in the background. The neroli note makes accords with spices and amplify them. It's a strong vintage masculine scent, clearly not suited for anyone under 30 or some enthusiast. Also Not a date scent. Performs well like many Creed models. Longevity is around 8 hours but can be felt on clothes even days after. Kind Regards

I almost did this side-by-side with Kouros since people make that comparison, but now I'm glad I didn't. It's maybe a bit akin to Kouros Fraicheur: soapy, and domineeringly so, with some legitimate neroli in the top notes but that gets buried under the slick, slimy, alkaline notes of a bar of cheap motel soap that someone peed on a little bit. It out-Muglers Mugler Cologne in that sense, but at least for now it's not as bad as I had dreaded from before. It's also a very dated, almost antique scent, which ought to be emanating from an old-fashioned low-end barber shop, not from a specific fragranced product, but just from the combination of all the soaps, lotions, tonics and creams being used inside all day. Another good scent for the dapper, well-groomed gentlemen aboard the Titanic in 1912. Still, because it passes so easily for heavy soap, it would fare much better than a lot of other antiquated scents, coming in right under the radar even today, when nobody would expect a man to smell this way. The base notes also smell a bit more like a deliberate personal fragrance, woodier and grassier, with even some leather I think, so it wins back some credibility there too. Overall, not a failure by any means, but I'm not exactly sure what to do with it and how to approach it.

if you want something similar to this, I would recommend orange star by tauer. It's not the same however, as orange spice is a lot sharper with the pepper and a more intense ambergris note. Orange star is a lot smoother and more of a casual feeling orange. It also doesn't have an animalic vibe to it

awful...the first creed i ever returned back to the store....where is the orange....was more like a cheap soap with ammonia type of scent.....worst fragrance up to now that i have encountered...some may like this however

Gorgeous stuff. Orange Spice opens with a civet-laden drop kick to the face, much like the original Kouros, but more civet-intensive. In fact, Orange Spice is YSL's famous scent on Creed's lab budget, and here you're smelling the real deal. The orange accompanies the civet, but it's interspersed with a dense bergamot and clove accord that ratchets the "clean" waaaay, way up to contrast in higher fidelity with the "dirty." Very gradually the civet slips behind the clove and orange notes, which have an astonishingly crystalline feel, and guides the trajectory from a highly-concentrated intro to a looser and softly soapy ambiance. Hints of neroli enhance this stage of the drydown. I'm not entirely certain where this fragrance came from, but I'm damn sure that it's one of the finest works of meticulous olfactory craftsmanship that I've ever been lucky enough to own. One added note: OS has ridiculous longevity. I get 15 hours out of it, no exaggeration. With relatively light application. Not sure what it means, but Creed's EDTs are better performers in the projection and longevity department than their EDPs for me.

Very much an old school scent,possibly a reason why Creed decided to vault it,with a smooth yet soapy orange/bergamot combo.You can imagine this being a time warp back to the 1950's prior to powerhouse,macho scents became popular and available. For mine the orange note dominates.Spices,what spices ? Neroli has gone into hiding too. I don't get the spicy note whatsoever.Agree that it is reminiscent of Kouros but not as harsh and unforgiving in my opinion.Longevity is quite admirable,in fact better than average,for a Creed from the EDT era and would easily outlast Neroli Sauvage,its modern day citrus equivalent.Sillage is closer to the skin however. Not for me however as its ultimately more soapy than I can handle.If I want to wear a spicy orange my choice would be Frederic Malle Noir Epices which has much more character and complexity. Unfortunately its extremely dated but glad I got a glimpse of a quality fragrance from yesteryear.It's a black and white perfume in a 3D coloured world.I guess thats the thing about time travel.

Ever since I began using Orange Spice eau de toilette from the House of Creed, these faint-hearted beasts have preferred to avoid my company, even in windy weather...” Needless to say, most guests found the atmosphere of that evening particularly languid, but deemed it wise to take their leave earlier than usual...

it does smell a little old school, but a school I would have wanted to go to ..very aromatic and a wonderful fragrance, as soon as I sprayed this on my wife commented , hey that is nice which one is this? I was very impressed with just the scent trail that this one gives off, I am checking for longevity but so far it seems to be lasting a fair amount of time, I sprayed some on my forearm last night and this morning I could still pick it up well. I could see my self purchasing this one, I enjoy the bright opening and I am really enjoying the breakdown..this could be an excellent signature scent for someone that is a confident guy that just wants to smell good and non offensive..very nice..two thumbs up, reminds me of something more of a musky type of scent a little like the old original jovan musk in a way..very appealing.

Having Orange Spice on my wish list without even testing it makes me think that we MUST test fragrances before ending up spending 122 Euro.I had very high expectations and now that I am sniffing it on my wrist I feel devastated.It starts a bit synthetic,orange-bergamote combo which gets fresher as time passes,I do detect mint although it is not listed.The first minutes I thought it resembled to Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte,because of mint!The drydown is plain,synthetic orange and some subtle spices.I needed a warm,original,full bodied orange-spice scent.This one is a bit watery for my taste.Lasting power is good for a citrus perfume.Overall,another citrus scent on the market..By the way,I do smell like toilet cleanser.Yuck!

The best Creed perfume ever, it’s not even a debate, hands down better in every way than anything the house have ever put out. Would it sell today? Not a chance, as the juxtaposition of dirty and clean just isn’t in vogue. Anyhoo, it is not like Kouros per se, the citrus and ambergris take it in a totally different direction to that of YSL’s musk fest, but I do get why folk say they are put in mind of it when they smell it. However, Side by side they are like comparing a 2013 Aventus with Scent of Peace, a couple of shared facets but no more than a fleeting resemblance

Orange Spice is indeed a good fragrance. It starts out with a extremely dated aroma (which doesn't mean it is awful!) as expected, with a corpulent and synthetic orange note which makes me remember of Kouros Fraicheur, specially because after this strong opening that persists for about 5 minutes, spices kicks in with a pungent clove note taking the whole fragrance, but here the clove isn't a pure one, instead it is combined with that citric chord from the beginning giving another depth to this Creed. Anyway, a long lasting fragrance that smells refined!

This is Kouros + Orange, made by I suspect, the same perfumer who made kouros, since the creed family stole all their perfume formulas and called them their own creations. No one requested kouros with orange, and quite predictably, this is not good. No wonder they didn't make this one for very long! Doesnt have the same great animalis base as original kouros. Mmm nice fake ambergis accord! fully synthetic from the musk to the fruit to the plastic firmenich gris replacer, stop living in denial you creed fans :)

Tons of aldehydes and orange skin juice. A little powdery because of neroli and opoponax, however not listed as an ingredient. Spices are very similar to these present in Orange Verte by Hermes. For sure it can be perfect scent for spring or for daily use as refreshing sport fragrance. Nevertheless I have impression that OS is very noble in the same time ... kind of old fashion gentlemen fragrance. Together with Acier Aluminium the OS is my favorite perfume from Creed house.

I fell in love with the dirty orange I got when I first sprayed OS. The warm spiciness, reminiscent of man-sweat, played off the fresh citrus very well. But I was immensely disappointed when it became soapy in it's dry-down. Glad I tested this before purchasing. Call me odd, but I don't like it when my fragrance decides to take a bath half way through my day. Some might be intrigued by this transformation, but it wasn't for me.

WHOAH! This is a BEAST it's so strong. I didn't think a creed could be so pungent. Smell wise it's like gaultier fleur du male combined with mugler cologne and the drydown goes like habit rouge with kouros. Very clean with a Christmassy edge which seems to smell warmer the longer it lasts. I'm wearing this a lot in the recent sunny weather.

If anyone believes James Henry Creed created this fragrance I have a bridge to sell you. Kouros did it first and did it better. I mean look at the date for Fleurs De Bulgarie. Pierre Bourdon created that as well. So unless he had a DeLorean we are left to believe that Creed's marketing was just that, marketing.

Creed has a reputation of frags not lasting too long and projection....not this one by a long shot. This is a beast and I don't mean by Creeds standards but overall a beast. I wish all of the others performed like this one. On that note, its very much dated :-(...not bad but too old school. Try before buy.

@simriser1 Don't mislead people with your speculations. Kouros was created by Pierre Bourdon & we know most of the Creed perfumes were created by him. But see the date when this Orange Spice was created, that time Bourdon wasn't even born. So do some research & then you can criticize.

A slightly lighter version of vintage Kouros, though this may have been marketed first (go ahead and try to find a bottle of it from the 1950s). I sampled it quite a while back and didn't think much of it because old Kouros bottles were selling for so much less at the time.

Samples of this used to be easy to find even 2-3 years ago. not anymore. creed is getting harder to find in general. you want this? get khiels original musk. boom. thats it.
