Palo Santo

Opening is a slight smokey and woody scent. It then quickly gives off aromatic nuances, reminiscent of dill (not pickles). In the dry down, you get a pleasing, clean and creamy sandalwood with slightest hint of cardamom. The opening is masculine smelling to my nose, but the dry down is unisex. Very versatile fragrance that can be worn all year round in all manner of occasions. What I love about the fragrance is the quality, as it does not give off any unpleasant or synthetic smells. Very smooth and refined. Longevity is decent (~6 hours on my skin), but the projection is moderate at best. I think a fragrance like this, that smells clean, comforting, and musky, should not be a loud projecting monster anyway. Subtlety actually works in it's favor. I also want to mention that I am not a fan of the creamy kind of sandalwood note, but for some reason I really like it here! Now to discuss the elephant in the room, the pickle thing. Not sure why everyone is so hung up on that. Pickles (specifically dill pickles) are placed in a brine with salts, spices, dill, garlic and chili, and then aged for a period of about a month. If you've ever gotten pickle juice on anything, you'd know that the smell is unpleasant and putrid, as that is a result of fermentation. You probably wouldn't pure pickle juice on your clothes and expect to smell pleasing. Well guess what? This Cremo does not smell like that! It has a slight herbal note that is similar to dill. Dill or dill weed is an herb. It's not a pickle! Many people probably have not cooked with dill or have seen it used elsewhere outside of a pickle jar, hence the association with pickles. So if you're worried you're going to smell like a pickle for wearing this, don't. If you don't like the smell of dill weed however, then that's a different story. Another note, this not a good dupe of Santal 33. I don't like Santal 33, but I like Cremo's Palo Santo, both of which are sandalwood type fragrances, contrary to the title. But don't get this fragrance expecting a cheap alternative of the Le Labo fragrance; Palo Santo is a great fragrance in it's own right. As for palo santo (the wood that you burn), it is herbal and woody smelling and of course smokey when you burn it. Palo Santo (the fragrance) seems to be an interpretation of the experience of lighting palo santo in your home, but ultimately it's a sandalwood fragrance that does not smell like actual palo santo.

I’m loving this one which is not a shock as I generally love scents that are in the outdoorsy,woody category! To get this out of the way yes it does smell very similar to Santal 33 but I’d say this is fresher,lighter more masculine and less of that pickle vibe (although it’s still there slightly in the opening) On its own it opens up very woody,fresh and slightly peppery making me also think that cedar is in here as well but that note is not listed. This scents stays pretty linear but as it dries down it gets more creamy,smooth,airy and even slightly soapy ! The drydown to me is the best part of this fragrance and I find this to be intoxicating as well as relaxing ! I love wearing this to bed for that reason !! Performance on this is great as it lasts 8-12 hours !! Projection is fairly strong for 30 minutes but quickly dies down however the sillage is amazing with this scent!! I think this is definitely for the more masculine men out there as it’s very outdoorsy so if your into aquatics or the sweet scents then I dont think this will suit your tastes but I LOVE this stuff and for the price you can’t go wrong !! Overall rating -8 out of 10 !! I love this scent but its not in my top favorites but this could easily be a favorite for some (After wearing this for some time I DID receive some positive feedback on this which was shocking as I didn’t think this would be as much as a people pleaser as Santal 33 was never a big compliment getter. Also the sillage on this is amazing)

I've had this for about a year now. It's quite sophisticated and simple at the same time. The scent profile is woody, fresh, soft spicy, and green. It's such a simple grab whenever you want to smell good, but also something quite approachable and masculine. It's versatile and suitable for use all year round as well. The best part is that this lasts a very long time on me, especially on my clothes (12+ hrs). However, on the skin, you can give it about 8 to 10 hrs. I found out about this through the body wash. As soon as I took a whiff of the body wash, I took it home and then wondered if this brand has a cologne version of this body wash, and to my surprise, unlike other lame male barber/hygiene brands, this DOES have a cologne of their body wash. I was so excited to get it, and when the bottle arrived, I was not disappointed. Over time I did notice that the body wash and the cologne slightly differ, but not as much. Edit: I see why people compare this to Santal 33. I understand their similarities but they got differences that makes them very easy to distinct. 1:1 comparison aftermath: Santal 33 has this raw/ dense material energy/ feel where the sandalwood is dry and crisp, in its almost natural form possible, with a more woody forward approach, Palo santo is more of a fresh and has some green facets that makes it more approachable, bright and lightweight. And a quick fun fact is that this smells more expensive than santal 33 for a quarter of the price.

Whew, what an opening! It’s so synthetic and somehow waxy to my nose... wild-ass start. It does make way for a lovely dry down though. The base reminds me of a nice barbershop-y aftershave, but not nearly as “wet” or, perhaps “succulent”. The dry, airy palo santo is really quite nice. I’ve smelled that note before and it was sharp and citrus forward. This, however is smoother and leaning into the realm of how sandalwood can be a bit creamy. It isn’t quite there, but it’s peeking in that direction just a little. I don’t suppose there’s a real age bracket for this one. Moreover, there’s a price point that everyone can get involved with too. I found it on Amazon instead of trying to chance my luck at any of the retailers near me. Twenty-two doll hairs later, and I’m happy to report that, to me, this is a safe blind buy. If you already know you enjoy palo santo as a fragrance note (or maybe in home smudging), go for it. Value: 10/10 Opening: 3/10 Mid: N/A (i.m.o.) Dry down: 9/10 Overall, I’m glad I picked this one up. I’ll wear it the next time I have an excuse to put on my felt cowboy hat.

Didn't like this right away when I got it. I gave it some more time and now I love it. Dry Woods are in the forefront of this. Pretty unisex. I get excellent performance out of this on skin and even better on clothes, upwards of 7-8 hours on skin and I could smell in on clothes the next day. I don't know if I could wear this everyday, but I definitely wear this when I'm in the mood. Probably one of my favorite cheapies that I own. Hope they don't discontinue this one. I get lots of compliments when I wear this. For $20.......this is definitely a cheapie banger. Considering getting a backup bottle, since Cremo is notorious for discontinuing their scents. This would be a pretty good layer with Iso E Super. I hear that its a pretty decent dupe of Le Labo Santal 33, but i haven't smelled it for comparison. Will leave an update after i do. UPDATE : got my nose on Santal 33 and it does smell very similar. Of course Santal 33 smells more natural and of better quality. Does it smell 10+ times better as a price comparison? Definitely not. $23 vs $290. I'll take Cremo Palo Santo all day long.

I really enjoy this fragrance.. and it is absolutely astounding to me that you can get it for 20 bucks. For an eau de toilette, the performance is good. The best part about it is the fragrance itself, though. Holy moly. To me, Palo Santo smells like a five star resort. It is very smooth and blends of creaminess and woodiness, a fine sweetness from cardamom, and the dryness of papyrus and palo santo work fantastically together. This fragrance will pretty much get you through any season, but it is bright and pops out more during the daytime. It can still easily work at night, though, particularly in warmer weather. Some people have said that it smells "picklish". In over one year of owning this one, I have never perceived this fragrance to have that particular quality. I 'understand' where they might pull that from in the fragrance, but no. It doesn't smell "picklish" but it does have a vibe that some might find unattractive. This is definitely a buy. Women might enjoy wearing this one as well, so long as they don't mind leaning over towards a more masculine fragrance.

The first blast of this one is pure Palo Santo, which is fantastic! Probably the best Palo Santo scent I've come across so far, after trying quite a few. Piney citrus with a strong hit of menthol. I love it! It's fairly linear and dries down to a very approachable, fresh, unisex scent. Clean, out-of-the-shower vibe. This would be a fantastic white t-shirt go-to. Santal 33 was a signature scent of mine back in the day. Is this a 1:1 of that? To my nose--no. It's a 2nd cousin. Same family, but not the same parents. If you're looking for the "vibe" of Santal 33, this might satisfy your craving. If you're looking for a straight dupe, I'm not sure this is what you're looking for. Ladies--don't be afraid of this one. My partner perked up immediately after I sprayed it on skin and said "Oooh, that smells good!" (Which, bless him, he doesn't do very often. I torture him constantly with a flood of scents just like any dedicated fraghead. If he shows interest in a scent, I take note.) It also smells fantastic on him, so a very his/her scent. Fantastic price point too!

This fragrance is incredible for the price. Yet another banger from Cremo. Yes, it'll remind you of Le Labo's Santal 33 and it does have a bit of that dill pickle vibe in the opening but that fades relatively quickly and you're left with a smooth and spicy sandalwood fragrance. If you don't like the way that sandalwood, papyrus and cardamom smell together, then you won't enjoy this but if that's a scent profile that appeals to you then you're in for a treat. This stuff lasts forever, so if you like the scent profile and don't want to spend $400 on the Le Labo, grab this for $22 and be happy knowing that the performance and longevity of this fragrance gets you really really close to the much much more expensive niche fragrance that inspired it. I'm not really into clones but I own many of the Cremo line because I get them as gifts from friends and every single one I have seem to be much higher quality than the price of them would suggest they should.

This, Santal 33, and Montblanc Explorer Platinum are very close cousins. Believe it or not, I was doing errands on this Saturday morning, and I stopped at three different clothing stores, each time I got an unsolicited nice and persistent compliment from three different women who are total strangers. If you're dressed in a neat way, these fragrances (the three I mention above which I have btw) make you come across as a well put together clean man, yes they are manly frags despite what the marketing says. I don't smell the dill pickle, it's like you smell a rose and call it jasmine, yes they are flowers but they don't smell alike. I am a good cook and I use fresh and dried dill in some of the dishes I make, and there is nothing that can convince me this fragrance has even a hint of dill in it. Sorry, clean your nostrils and smell the pickles and any of the three above side by side and you'll also have the same impression.

This is more akin to "Book"+ × Commodity than it is to Santal 33. Side by side comparisons reveal that Santal 33 opens much more green and watery (definitely the violet leaf), which both Palo Santo and Book are lacking. Palo Santo is drier, a bit smoky, and a bit spicy with a lot of cardamom in the opening; ultimately drying into something more barbershop, and more masculine, than Santal 33 could ever be. The sandalwood in all three is of course very similar, but there are marked differences. I love each, but on my skin Santal 33 plays the best. For a male, I prefer Palo Santo. It's a sexy, rugged but clean, manly fragrance I can't stop smelling. The sandalwood scent profile is irresistible to me, I'm glad we have so many options. 🤍

This is a superb Cremo fragrance . Palo Santo has an extremely distinctive, sage-like fragrance. Perfect for any circumstance. An initial hint of brightness gives way to a lovely, faintly smoky, woodsy aroma. Love the clear, fresh aroma of sage and wood in the dry down. absolutely lovely and high-quality. Silage, projection, and longevity are also advantageous. pretty genderless I got up to 7-8 hours of wear time from this on my skin, and it works even better on clothes. The next day, I could still smell it on my clothes. It's probably one of my favorite bargains. I frequently receive compliments when wearing this. This has the odor of a premium designer. Aromatic, woody ,and very nice. Love it!

Solid choice if you want a woody niche fragrance for $20. I personally don't get the pickle smell in sandalwood / palo santo fragrances and enjoy them a lot. It does open up a bit sharp. Not a blast of alcohol or anything but more like freshly cut wood. As it dries down you get a warm, creamy blend of palo santo, papyrus, and cardamom. Smells so much more expensive than it is. My dad has Santal 33 so I've smelled these side by side. This one is fairly similar but just isn't as complex. Less florals, heavier focus on the woods. Struggles a bit in terms of longevity and projection compared to Santal 33 but you can reapply as many times as you'd like since it's so cheap. For $20 this is a steal.

In general, it's pretty good. For the price, it's actually spectacular. Lasted on my skin longer than a lot of designer stuff (Luna Rossa Carbon, Burberry Brit, Montblanc Explorer), I could still smell it very clearly at the end of a work day. Seriously, if you're at target and you see it just scoop it, it's $20 or less most of the time for the 100mL. Edit: I think this stuff has some ISO-E Super in it or something. Because it's so one-note I thought I would layer it under some of my aquatic-ish scents to add a little more depth and, to my surprise, this extended the longevity of the other scent by maybe two to three hours. Pretty rad, and smelled great!

Almost exactly like Moncler Pour Homme at a fraction of the price. Also Papyrus and the spice "Dill" (Doesn't have to be on a pickle) do sort of hit a similar green note. Papyrus has been around in fragrances since ancient times. Papyrus is native to Africa but was exported to Egypt and India. Cleopatra wore it although in those cultures it was more commonly found on men. It brings my nose in more the direction of a mountain pine than dill but I do not dislike the smell of dill especially in Greek and Turkish cooking. This fragrance just needs to perform a bit better for me and I wouldn't need the Moncler /Santa 33 in my collection.

Took fragrantica long enough to add this to the database..sheesh! This is another fantastic scent from Cremo. Very underated brand. Palo Santo makes for a really unique and sage wood scent. Perfect for all occasions. Manly and I do not know why Fragrantica calls it unisex... This is a mens scent.. part of the beard collection. Barbershop off the top and the dry down a fresh and clean sage and wood kind of scent. A+ for the price. Cremo frags are really very nice and good in quality. Longevity 7.5/10 Projection 7/10 for a few hours then decreases a point each hour after Sillage 6/10 Overall 7.3/10

This scent is one of my faves from Cremo, such a rich very well-blended scent. It makes me feel confident and does well in both the hot Jamaican heat and the cooler months (December only). I think this can be worn anywhere, any time. It surprisingly reminds me of Kilian - Sacred Wood. Projection is great for the first 3 hours or so, but it doesn't go away, you get a 1ft scent bubble that still projects for hours and hours. The longevity is also amazing if sprayed on your clothes, you will smell this on your garments the next day. Wow! Easily a $100 scent yet again from Cremo for about $22.

Testing this out in comparison to my Zara S4nd4lw00d which supposed to be a Le Labo Santal 33 dupe. No pickle scent to report. Just an airy, woody fragrance with a slight touch of sweetness from the papyrus and cardamom. If you're not one to use cardamom often in tea or cooking, as it blends with skin chemistry, it could give way to ideas of pickling spice blends. I get just a very pleasant woody fragrance reminiscent of S4ND4LW00D which I own, but have been sparingly using due to its lack of availability on Zara's website. If Cremo keeps making this, it will be a nice substitute.

Camphorous top, over a cardamom-y cream-y cedar, navigating in between Santal 33 and Wonderwood. Decent projection, and great longevity on my skin. Every full eclipse, there might be a grocery/mass market store that issued a great cheapie. It's rare, but already happened a couple of times in the past with Zara, and Banana Republic for example. Well, this is one of those rare cases! This scent profile is quite simple, but surprisingly satisfying. Nothing new or grounbreaking, but at just $20 a pop this one is a total hit, kudos to Target!

This stuff actually smells fantastic. Hilariously good for the price. Probably the best value propositions in fragrance. A completely legitimate alternative to S33 to be had for $23... What more can you say? At the very least, just be aware that if Delta ever loses your luggage and you can’t get back to duty free... if you find yourself 1000 miles from home, without your 200+ bottle collection: a fine fragrance awaits you for just $20 at the nearest CVS, Walgreens, or Target down the block. I got this for an everyday version of Santal 33. They are very similar, and PS is delicious for the cheap pricetag. Everyone else has already covered the comparison exceptionally well. Thanks guys, you steered me onto a winner here 😘 My 2 cents is with S33, you’re paying for the complexity, depth, and phenomenal drydown. It is niche and pricey for a reason! PS is spicier, a bit harsher, with a sharper and less “full bodied” drydown. Incredible for the price, and definitely unisex 😊

This holds a special place in my heart as it was the first "real cologne" I owned. It's santal 33 if they made it more masculine and more pleasant. And it's $25. I don't have much to say about this one because it speaks for itself. It's very woody and popular with everyone I know who's smelled it on me. Absolutely blind buy safe since it's so cheap, unless you're a vanilla/tonka fiend who likes smelling like a woman

This fragrance really surprised me. It’s extremely close to Santal 33 at a fraction of the price. At only $20, I could even use this as a room spray guilt-free. Performance is a bit short, which comes as no surprise. One alternative is Jo Milano GoS Bid, which is stronger and lasts much longer than Palo Santo. However, to my nose, the scent is heavier and isn’t as pleasant as it strays further from Santal 33.

I smelled this on a male coworker and fellow fraghead and immediately purchased it for $20 on Amazon. This is what I expected from Santal 33 and Tam Dao. Total jackpot for me personally and highlight of 2022 so far fragrance wise. Will update on performance and reactions to my perfume eating female skin. This is the first review I’ve made here by the way and I’m a long time lurker/daily visitor to this site.

This is an amazing scent that's priced well. You don't get the dill pickle note that Santal 33 can have, and it smells very similar - if not better. The issue is longevity - this dries down quick and only lasts 4 hours or so. Not a problem in general, but I'd like a little more, especially throughout the work day. One of the best, most versatile scents I own. I really enjoy this and it's mass appealing.

Well worth the price. Great longevity and projection, and the notes each stand out. Cozy and pillowy sillage that doesn't choke anyone out. Up close the cardamom is a nice interesting addition. A slightly more masculine take on Santal 33. I love these bottles too. Interesting and modern without any sweetness. A great addition to any man’s collection 16-50 years old. 10/10

I love this smell so much, I want this to be my everyday smell, I have the body wash and this so it can more likely be enhanced, I don’t get the smell other ppl are talking about maybe because this smells so good that ppl just want to keep other ppl away from their signature scent I guess lol but this smells manly, fresh and inviting, this is perfect for cuddling

This was my first ever real fragrance. I wore it all the time, and absolutely loved how it smelled. Floral, tart, woody, and just a hint of pickle. I have since gone far beyond this one in my fragrance journey, but I still do enjoy it. And for $20, you cannot beat that. I'd love to get a sample of the real Santal 33 just to see how Palo Santo stands up.

Smells amazing. Santal 33 DNA but has its own vibe. Very smooth and smells MUCH more expensive than its price tag. I fragrance my home with it as well. Lasts for days. The pickles nonsense is from juvenile reviewers with dysfunctional noses. Yes, it smells like Palo santo. I burn it sometimes and this captures a nice blend with PS at its base.

Superb fragrance for the price. I find the notes in the dry down immensely comforting. I actually think this is versatile enough for all seasons + times of day. Agree that it is a more masculine fragrance. It smelled completely different on my (M) skin as opposed to my partner's (F). Neither of us got pickles from it, as some report.

underrated for layering with other fruity scents, on its own is ok but shines with others. I tried it with Eros EDP for fun, and wow, Spicy, woody, mint, apple, fresh, but still mature. Increased projection. The mix smelled much better that each on its own.

Really nice, special smell. Pairs amazingly well with Spice and Black Vanilla (also cremo) for a great date scent. I don't know if the main smell is sandalwood or Palo Santo tho. Great smell for middle-eastern/far-eastern people I'd say

Both my wife and I love this one. Some people apparently smell pickles on this one, but neither my wife or I have smelled that. Great for the price. IMO the 2nd best Cremo cologne.

Smells like a slightly smokier, airier version of Abercrombie Fierce. I may be going anosmic to it, but I feel the need for a top up every 4 hours or so. Love the scent.

Le Labo Santal 33 but deeper and darker and a fraction of the cost. This smells like if a car mechanic wore Santal 33. A must and a fraction of the cost.

I just Smelled this on a man in Chipotle. This smells so rich and expensive. It's a yes I'm a woman smd I'm going to buy and wear this.

I don’t do “cheap”. This is my favorite “cheapie”. Don’t let the drama llamas spook you. You can at least use the soap.

Finally, they noted this scent.....Beautiful manly scent, Palo Santo indeed. Cremo needs more love than this.

I'm one of those that only get pleasure from Santal 33 so this is a cheapie banger.

I continued my morbid habit of trying one or two of the men's fragrance samples at my local Target when I'm there and tried this one today. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I tried this one. This is the first one from that shelf that I genuinely like. This is a simple but smooth woody fragrance. There was a very light hint of something camphorous in the opening, but overall it was a smooth and pleasant woody scent with a traditional masculine feel. It reminds me of a note in an unidentified aftershave my grandfather used to use. And I mean that in the best way I can under IFRA guidelines. It's like someone had taken that old fashioned masculine scent and turned it into a simpler, smoother, more modern, semi transparent fragrance. It's not a powerful or long lasting scent It's just pleasant and a bit nostalgic for me. I sampled it about 5 hours ago and it's down to about skin-scent level. I've only worn it once, but I could see this being quite a versatile fragrance. Sampling conditions: - 1 spray on the wrist/forearm - Dried down to noticeable pleasant skin scent after 5 hours - 68 *F Indoor, 55 *F outdoor, 45% humidity - My skin seems to hold onto scents a little longer than average. This is the first fragrance from that rack in Target that I really want to smell again, and it's cheap enough that it's an easy decision to pick it up next time I'm there.

My first foray into the Cremo line of products. I'm impressed with Palo Santo. I have a back story with this one. I first smelled Santal 33 on my girlfriend and was somewhat taken aback by the earthy, veggie scent of it. I was wondering why it was so popular with women; I found it to be more masculine. I also noticed how nuclear-strong it was. Was catching whiffs of it well over eight hours after she sprayed it only once on her neck. Eventually, I caught the florals and all the other notes and grew to enjoy it. We even joked about the pickle smell. Then I saw a YT review of this Palo Santo saying it was not a bad dupe of Santal 33. I wanted to have it in my collection. I was curious, pulled the trigger, and hoped for the best. I did find the scent to be similar, but I wasn't pleased overall. I was let down by the performance. After a few weeks of wearing this around, I started to like it more. Now I spray it twice on each spot to give it more longevity. I can still smell it on my skin after the eight-hour work day is done. I'm really happy with Palo Santo, especially for $20. It lacks the florals and that strong earthy pickle vibe of Santal 33 (there's a trace of it), but the scent is definitely in the same ballpark. I wouldn't blind buy this unless you already know Santal 33 and are looking for that type of scent.

This smells really nice actually, though I do affirm that there is a slight pickle-y nuance to the woody notes here (papyrus?). It's not exactly like Santal 33 however, but it's slightly more similar to Pacifica's Neon Moon, which I firmly assert is absolutely unisex and men could wear it well, if they could get past the girlish bottle. As it stands, I also think this could be worn by women as well (which...who cares really, everyone should wear what they like). The pickle thing has actually grown on me and I really do enjoy dill as a note, and an herb, though I don't like to smell of it in any strong fashion, S33 is too far for me. However, this and Neon Moon are more subtle. NM is about 66% femme, whilst this is about 66% masculine. Both are sort of spanning the neutral territory, but this is a little less sweet and has a mild...I dunno, grittiness to it. It isn't heavy though, not by a long shot. This is fresh, and the wood is very "blonde". It's uplifting and it's a fragrance that makes one go - "Ooooh! Ok, nice!" in upbeat tones; not - "Mmmm...nice..." in a low hum. It's a good fragrance for waking up, and less so bedtime (at least, this is how I smelled while sniffing it). I think this is a great fragrance for the price, and I can see why these Cremo options are catching on 😊

From the top I do smell the cardamom but its drowned by the woody palo santo sweetness and dry papyrus. Think of it like a tea latte almost. Woody, green but sweet/creamy. In the dry down I think its the papyrus that really sits with you. Its almost like new wooden house, fresh paper, new book type-smell. Very comfortable and nostalgic to us who grew up going to libraries or reading. I think the palo santo might be the off-putting (pickle) smell that people are picking up. It's a caramel/vanilla sweet wood scent and I can see how it might smell sour to others when mixed with something like cardamom. The sillage is great on this one, easily 6+ plus hours for me. If you like it you'll probably love it. It's a unique woody and also layers really well as a base for fruitier scents or body sprays!

Something about this Reminds me of my obsession night for men from 2005. Sweet Woody cardamom sage, kind of a sweet creamy velvety feel. Don’t get vinegary dill pickle at all. Maybe more of a sweet, medicinal green. It has a sweet green vibe going on, then with a little bit of a camphor smell. Camphor is woody and herbal with the slightest peppery medicinal twang like moth balls. Sounds strange, but comes together nicely for 20 bucks, I like this and glad I blind bought it. Update: in the dry down, After two or three hours, I started to find the moth ball twang a little annoying and overwhelming. I could still smell this clearly at the seven or eight hour point, but didn’t want to. I may have sprayed on too much for the first trial and will try it again with maybe just a spray or two. Great performance though. For anyone interested, one of my favorite sweet green fragrances (that happens to be super cheap also) is Calvin Klein Truth for men. Surprisingly nice and unique for an early 2000s designer mall scent, a mildly sweet ozonic green that has a lovely woody resinous dry down. Big bottle for only around $25 these days

Cremo Palo Santo I got out of loving the smell of palo santo wood in the Zaharoff Business Over Pleasure. I wanted to try it and so I picked it up. The problem with it is not a scent kids like. I work in a school and have worn this twice now at work and when I wear it, kids around me wonder what smells like smoke. Yep, that is the palo santo wood. Notewise, I really only notice the palo santo wood. There really is some cardamom, but it is largely swallowed up with the smoky palo santo wood. I really don't recall Business Over Pleasure being this smoky. I don't mind it, but really know you audience. This isn't socially acceptable as much as the typical Cremo fragrance is. Luckily, Palo Santo is another Cremo. As I mentioned in my recent review for Distiller's Blend, Cremo's last at most 6 hours tops on my skin. Palo Santo last 5. It works in winter and fall for day and even night. So yeah, this isn't mass appealing. Cremo Palo Santo does smell good, but know you will not get great reactions from it. For this I rate Palo Santo a 6.5 out of 10. Still a like, but a tentative one.

#60 and #61 on my "Tour de Fragrance" of 250 fragrances in 250 days. These are two more of the "30 under $30" I'm trying out. Both are failures. I have no idea who designed Palo Santo or what they were going for with this scent and I don't think you will either. It's kinda this and kinda that and not really anything in the end. It smells inoffensive, so I don't hate it, but I have no idea why anyone would wear this feeble and uninteresting scent. I'll also mention here Cremo "Iced Citron and Driftwood" as it isn't in the database, so I can't review it separately. The only thing you get with that is the lingering waxy smell of the citronella candle you burned on the patio last night to keep the bugs away. This citron isn't strong enough to drive away mosquitoes, but I'm confident it will repel women. If I could review that scent separately it would get a "hate" rating. I've enjoyed and am keeping three Cremo scents so far and have now tried three that I consider worthless and disappointing. I have three more on the way.

I have this and I'm getting through the bottle quite quickly. I don't think it's a true Santal 33 "clone", it's more like a good fragrance in the style of Santal 33, but simplified and more wearable. As other people have said, the wood is more like lumber or cedar - I think this gives it a more utilitarian feel, instead of the luxurious, silky feel of sandalwood. The squeaky, ozonic violet note of S33 is there, but it's closer to "clean herbal wood" than "pickle". In this sense Palo Santo is 100% successful in merging the woody with the clean, and it's a lovely, appealing and rather inviting scent. In the downside, it is very linear - after the initial burst it's almost monotone, other than a gradual transition from more herbal to more woody. There is something kind of functional and "useful" about it! Projection is low, longevity is quite high.

This is a very masculine woody fragrance that leans classic in all the best ways. It gives me a very “cologne” type of vibe — the kind you might associate with fresh-out-the-shower confidence or a clean button-up shirt. It’s gentlemanly, masculine, and built for someone who wants to smell put together without doing too much. It’s marketed as “deep and smoky,” but whatever smokiness is in here is light and approachable. The woodiness overall feels clean and modern, without veering into rough or overly spicy territory. This is the kind of scent that fits right into a guy’s everyday rotation — great price, mass-appealing, and especially suited for cooler weather, where the slight smoke and spice elements can warm up on the skin. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s solid, reliable, and just feels right.

I blind bought this a couple years back simply because I love the smell of Palo Santo. However, I found that this doesn't do a great job at capturing that particular woodiness even though there is some essence of it. As other reviews have stated, this does give off an initial pickle scent that dies down a bit after an hour or so. As far as performance and sillage......THIS SHIT IS STRONG. In the rare occasions where I feel like wearing this, anything more than 2 sprays is overkill. I'm still trying to find another fragrance to tame/compliment it because this by itself can be overwhelming to the senses of you and everyone around you.

truly the only discernible differences between this and santal 33 are (a) the le labo frag is ever so slightly sweeter and (b) i detect far less pickle here than in the designer scent it imitates. if santal 33 is a sharp bread-and-butter gherk (read: aromatic and heavily sugared), this fragrance is a mild dill. a spectacularly cheap option for those disturbed by santal's brininess but enticed by its woodsiness and ubiquity; unfortunately, i rather like the bread-and-butter pickle thing i pick up with santal. however, as a low-cost stand-in for a favorite fragrance i have not been able to afford more than once, this goes miles.
