Silver Water & Birch

I don't know what it is about Silver Water and Birch but this is the first Cremo fragrance to get a genuine positive reaction. Today I wore it to work and sprayed it four times on skin, twice on my tank-top. Two girls that I work with (I am currently doing a summer camp) loved the smell twice though the first it smelt like their grandparents. I can't say I disagree that it smells good and perhaps if they got the oakmoss, it can smell like grandparents Cremo Silver Water and Birch is exactly what you'd think it is, it is a Silver Mountain Water. Silver Water opens with the most balanced open of the Silver clones I've smelt, the most balanced. Al-Rehab Silver is too metallic and has a very BO smelling oud like wood, Sun Java White Men is awesome but can be too inky at times. Silver Water opens with water of course, maybe a few citruses too. The mid is very much oakmoss. I tend to think it is synthetic rather than organic due to IFRA. The base is pretty much birch, but it is the least smokiest. Silver Water and Birch performs no better or worse than the other two Cremo fragrances I own, Bourbon and Oak and Spice and Black Vanilla. It is a moderate projecting fragrance that lasts for about six hours. I originally got the solid cologne which works great but it is a little on the slight side and later got the EDT after loving the scent at first smell (I had the bodywash but it lasts minutes.) Silver Water and Birch is a great spring, summer and fall casual scent. It works for occasions that you'd wear a polo. Casual meals, work or kicking it. If you want to go lighter and more subtle, use the solid cologne. Cremo Silver Water and Birch is EASILY my favorite of the three Cremo fragrances I've gotten my nose on. I think it is because it is the most dumb reach of the three. Bourbon and Oak is more bar ready while Spice and Black Vanilla is more date ready. Silver Water and Birch works in most situations. For this and the smell and positive reactions, I say Silver Water and Birch is an 8.2 out of 10.

To answer raymachengray's question: I have a box dated to 2018 (I keep all my fragrance boxes... Don't look at me like that...), batch code B90319/9093-3. The notes listed on the side are "iced spring water accord", oakmoss, and "sunwashed woods". Also, the blurb on the front of the box reads "A sparkling, aquatic dive into a mountain lake surrounded by cool moss and clean woods". It does sound from some reviews here that SW&B was reformulated at some point and the listed notes were changed to reflect that. I think I have the older formulation, though I've never tried a newer bottle so I can't say for sure. What I can say is this is a very pleasant fragrance, cool but more of a sweet cool rather than a sharp cool. It probably leans unisex. It gets compared to Creed Silver Mountain Water, and Cremo does seem to be inviting the comparison with the name and description. I've never tried SMW so I can't speak directly to the comparison. But if it's similar to a popular niche fragrance, with decent performance, for $20/100 ml it's a fantastic deal. Or at least, the old formulation was a great deal. Not sure if the newer formulation smells as good.

My local Rite Aid had 2 bottles of this stuff on the shelf for 6 months! I never bought one because I really enjoyed the barbershop vibe of Blue Cedar & Cypress which got me through Fall and Winter perfectly. Plus I wasn’t impressed initially by the Silver Water & Birch body wash i was able to sniff. However today,for Spring, I decided to switch up the vibe and take a chance. I bought one of the SWB bottles “blind” and wow was I blown away. At. home, I went back and bought the other bottle because there’s no way you can get this kind of quality for that price. And it probably won’t be around much longer. It has an amazingly calming and masculine vibe. Very similar to BCC that it feels mature and young at the same time. Sillage was big for first couple hours on my skin (3 sprays around my neck) 6 hours later, there’s a very pleasant wood/musk happening that promises a gentleman is in the room. I bought this blind and must say if you like the notes listed on the box (Lavender as the middle note not Oakmoss...) you’ll be satisfied with the scent. The wear is up to the wearer. For me, no disappointments.

For $22 full retail? It's really good. Fresh, clean scent. Nothing ground breaking or earth shattering but this is good enough to be an everyday wear during hot weather for most people. The "fragrance should at a minimum have the urine from a Algonquin pygmy monkey that has been drinking nothing but 12 year speyside single malt scotch for 40 days and nights, and the feces of a north bound Scandinavian albino hippopotamus; or else it is for peasants" crowd will likely hate it.

This scent is not meant for me, being female, but I used to use the shaving cream of this smell so I ended up buying the cologne just to have it on hand to smell whenever I wanted because it smells so nice. So it is in my 'perfume' collection just because the smells so good. I will get whiffs of it just to do it on occasion. It's such a nice clean smell that isn't overpowering. I wouldn't mind smelling this on a guy! It smells so good and is priced so reasonably!

This is my all time favorite from the Cremo line! i would even say that i like it more than Silver Mountain Water. To me this takes SMW and make it a little more mass appealing by removing that inky Body oder note. The Quality is still less than SMW but not at all like comparing the quality difference Between say CDNIM and Aventus. Smells like something Parfums Vintage would clone and sell for $100

I will say...this is working great on my skin..but it could be because I washed with the corresponding body wash, shampoo and conditioner, and deodorant. So all things considered...it's a slightly less inky very well done clone of creed's SMW and I am already getting better longevity. I wonder what would happen if I now try the creed with this body wash and deo combo

This is just fantastic and would make a perfect spring/summer office scent. It’s airy and light, smells like a designer level quality version of silver mountain water by creed, but maybe a bit more mass-appealing. To me it smells like minty ink with woods and fresh aquatics. I love it. Great value here.

It ́s not better than a designer fragrance, but for the price is one of the best fragrances I have bought. Fresh, woody, a little sweet. I suggest wearing it during the day or on a casual evening, do not use it in the office it has a good sillage.

Well, I love(d) this scent... Until I let my coworker whiff it, and she said it smells like her grandparent's socks. Well, now that scent won't leave my head.

I have had this fragrance for years. The notes correspond to the pyramid above. This fragrance opens with a rather sweet...something. Something synthetic that reminds me of nothing I have smelled in nature. I should make clear that the "something" doesn't smell unpleasant, just unnatural. The sweetness dims over the first half hour or so and is joined by an oak moss stand-in which tames the sweetness even more. By an hour or so after the initial spray this scent has a watery slightly sweet, slightly metallic tone that is quite nice. Finally, a slightly smokey birch note joins the earlier notes and they all swirl around one another for a while before the scent fades to a genetic woody deep dry down. It is OK right the way through. More so after the opening sweet smell fades. I tend to use this fragrance in specific situations: when I need to take care of errands or tasks around the property before I can shower. Thus, I will only wear the scent for up to 2 1/2 hours. In these circumstances, I don't want to waste sprays of a more expensive fragrance. Silver Water & Birch is just fine for such limited use. Which brings me to the key point about this fragrance. It is very, very cheap. I got the bottle I own just after Xmas a few years back when I had gone to a big box store with instructions to buy, among other things, some body wash for my youngest son. If memory serves, the Silver Water & Birch set with body wash, shampoo and the 100 ML EdT was on clearance for under $15. At that price, this fragrance is a truly great bargain. I can't comment on longevity because I always shower it off before it fades out on its own. Projection is moderate. The bottle and atomizer are generic, but not of poor quality. This fragrance smells vaguely like Silver Mountain Water by Creed, or rather, like a pared down, simplified version of SMW. This scent is not really a SMW alternative, it is too synthetic, cheap-smelling and linear for that purpose. If you are looking for a less expensive SMW alternative, consider Armaf Sillage, which is also much better than Silver Water & Birch. But if you cannot justify spending more than the bare minimum, and you can find a bottle with the notes listed in the pyramid above (because there are definitely reports that Cremo has changed this fragrance for the worse, at least in some production--if the fragrance description mentions lavender, my understanding is that the scent is very different from the one I have), then this unisex scent is better than most of what you can get for similar prices.

I was intrigued by this cologne because of its great price and availability. After the first spray, there's definitely a sharp hand-sanitizer smell that goes away pretty quickly. The initial spray strangely kind of smells like a grandmother, which isn't bad smelling but could generate that kind of feeling. Honestly, the beginning did kind of disappoint, but I do somewhat get their advertised feeling of "aquatic mountain woods", if the scenery also included an old woman's house. Once the fragrance settles, the dry-down is very nice. The lavender note definitely kicks in, and it becomes sweeter. The projection isn't that strong, but it did last for longer than some other reviews I've read. Overall, if you can buy this fragrance for $20 or less, then it very well could be worth it. But definitely don't come with high expectations, and maybe try to smell the soap first.

I’m personally a HUGE fan of MOST Cremo scents. They have amazing longevity and the scents are amazing! I have some of the best expensive colognes on the market and Cremo’s colognes are stronger and last longer than most of them and are half the price. I haven’t personally tried Creeds silver mountain water so I can’t compare it but this one definitely reminds you of being in the mountains next to a beautiful stream. It’s aquatic, woody and musky! It clearly has a smoky leathery vibe due to the birch Needless to say it’s very manly. Highly recommend this cologne, if you want your money’s worth and an amazing expensive smelling cologne at a fraction of the price.

I have smelled Creed Silver Mountain Water but it has been a while. From what I remember this does smell similar to the Creed cologne. It is in the same vein of fresh, watery, woody cologne. The smell has is very light and watery with a musky woody base. There is no real citrus smell to this cologne but there is probably some citrus like bergamot up top. The performance is on the weak side so this is more of a cologne spray for summer that you can refresh with but not an all day performer.

i’ve never smelt silver mountain water but this smells good. smells like how i imagine an expensive resort lobby smelling if that makes sense. 9/10, amazing fragrance the only thing holding it back is it’s mediocre performance but for $20 there’s no reason not to own this (unless you already have SMW or other SMW inspired fragrances)

I own Cremo's Spice & Black Vanilla and Blue Cedar & Cypress--this is easily my least favorite. And it's still good! Not complex, only note I really got was birch with the slightest hint of that water note, nice and fresh. I'd go for this in warm weather, but you could easily pull this off year-round.

Spotted the body wash at Target today. Saw the name and thought "now wouldn't it be funny if this smelled like silver mountain water?" Turns out it does. Awesome. SMW is of course far superior.

It is an overall good fragrance for $20 it reminds me every time of a nice clean hotel lobby and gives me memories of going to MGM Grand Hotel as a kid.

Smells like another Creed Fragrance...don't know if its M.I. or S.M.W...I have M.I. but not sure. I think its SMW clone.

Woah...I am not sure if I should believe what I read or what I smell. I've had this box stashed away for a while because I have so many fragrances. I feel the need to open the new ones very sparingly. There seems to be a lot of controversy surrounding this fragrance. I have batch code 012024018. The notes listed on the side of my box are Top: Iced Spring Water Accord, Middle: Lavender, Base: White Musk. My first question is...where is the Birch?? The crazier thing is, on Cremo's website, when zoomed in, the side of the box shows the (I'm guessing) old notes with Oakmoss in the mid and Sunwashed Woods as the base. Yet the picture of the bottle...has lavender in it! Crazy! I'd say this reformulation moves it further away from Silver Mountain Water and more into a less-green Cool Water area. It's fresh and clean smelling, but it's honestly not what I was hoping for. I wanted the "sparkling, aquatic dive into a mountain lake surrounded by cool moss and clean woods" rather than the "light, refreshing scent with notes of spring water, lavender, and musk". I have reached out to Cremo to see if they can provide some clarity on this and will update you when I hear back. **UPDATE** I contacted Cremo via e-mail and they replied with a highly generic response...as predicted: "Thank you for taking the time to contact us, it brings us great Joy that you are interested in Cremo Products. One for $22 towards a new bottle of Cremo cologne, the other for $2 off any other Cremo product. If anyone else is having an issue with this specific bottle and the discrepancy in the notes, I'd suggest calling Cremo instead of e-mailing for a better resolution. 6/10

I acquired this frag a few months ago from my local Target store. I spent $18 on this and I have mixed feelings about this fragrance. This is not the first Cremo fragrance I have in my collection. They are a really affordable product with designer fragrance quality. I never smelled Creed's Silver Mountain Water, so I will describe my experience to the best of my ability. I have worn this fragrance several times, last night being the heaviest spray downs (10 sprays). The presentation is nothing to scoff at, quality heavy rectangular clear glass bottles with Cremo etched on the sides. White square label with the name of the house and fragrance. The cap however is a cheap pseudo plastic/aluminum cylinder that weighs next to nothing. Atomizer is decent, can somewhat control how heavy the spray is. The opening has a sharp freshness to it that confuses me because there are no citruses or pepper in the notes, has a metallic tinge to it. That fresh metallic tinge is probably the only masculine piece to this fragrance from what I experience. On the dry down I describe two things what the smell resembles, one being a florist shop and the 2nd is that scent after tripping and falling into a giant bush. I get a lot of sticky vine scent, a hint of rose bush and patchouli. Lots of florals and somewhat earthy. Neither Rose or Patchouli are listed notes but that's what I'm picking up on. The birch note comes in after 2 hours of the opening and sort of sits in the background, not strong or prominent. I think the opening is the best part about this fragrance. It's fresh and metallic and I wish that opening was on a more masculine fresh scent. I find the floral dry down to be somewhat off putting. This fragrance is unisex for sure and I don't believe it's a bad scent, I can definitely see a lot of people enjoying this fragrance. It's just not for me. I do wear this often only for work until the bottle runs dry, which will be soon. The fragrance last on my skin for about 4 hours but it stays on my clothes until I wash them. This is mostly a skin scent, but the first hour it does project a bit. I did receive compliments in the workplace shortly after applying the fragrance. It is work safe, not offensive at all.

I have the shaving cream version of this, and having smelled the real Silver Mountain Water, I get what they were trying to do with this fragrance.... they just missed the mark with it. I would say it's 75 to 80% of the way there, but what's missing is the bracing freshness of the real SMW. What they replaced it with is the bizarre chemical smell that more reminds me of a hair salon. Still something fruity and fresh, slightly aquatic for some reason, but not as good as it could be. A friend who has the real thing tells me that this fragrance isn't bad, but he doesn't get the chemical smell off of it, so it might just be my post-covid nose messing with me. If you want to try it but you aren't sure (like I was), trying the shave cream is probably the best route to go with.

Edit: I’ve just realized I have Cremo’s “Spring Water and Fir”... not “Silver Water and Birch”. So disregard. I do really have the SW&B body wash though and it’s awesome. *** [Original review]: The body wash version of this is fantastic, and actually smells like Creed’s Silver Mountain Water. “Sparkling & crisp”, as is advertised on the bottle. Unfortunately, the edt version smells quite different and really misses the mark. It loses that crisp, aromatic brightness, and is just kinda off. Almost syrup-y, like another comment said, oddly though it’s not sweet, so whatever a non-sweet syrup smells like, it’s a bit like that.

#65 in my "Tour de Fragrance of 250 scents in 250 days. You really can't go wrong with this one, especially at the price. This is another in my "30 under $30" category that is utterly likeable and a completely safe blind buy. Everything about this works for me. Refreshing without being sharp. Smooth without being dull. Lots to like here, nothing to hate. If you like the shave cream, and I do, you'll like this too.

Very Fresh and Clean, woody and higher almost metallic notes that evaporate off leaving NOT sweet but very "just jumped out of the shower" but much more sophisticated than an "Irish Spring" kind of freshness. High energy and not Sensuous or sexy, very surface level unassuming, decently clean and quite fresh.

I have a love hate relationship with this fragrance. It smells amazing but it performs like dog shit. 1 hour max then it just disappears but for 20 bucks what do you expect. 7.09/10

BombshellBanshee, I'm a male who owns and likes it. It's absolutely unisex. Edit: My 17 year old daughter likes it and I thought about just giving it to her.

My least favorite of Cremo's cheapies. Big Aunt energy here. I've never smelled Silver Mountain Water so I can't compare, but I find it difficult to imagine Creed releasing something as off-putting as this. I had the batch with the middle note listed as Lavender. If they are indeed different, perhaps the original batch is the one that drew the SMW comparisons. This is so floral it doesn't even smell masculine. Maybe I would enjoy it more if I had different scent memories? Even for a budget fragrance, you can do better.

@otteromkram .. I get a similar scent, just a sort of, grandparents home. Not it a bad way, but I might need to give it time, but as of now I’ve had it for about a month and it’s really not great at all, it’s ok if I mix it with my tyrant odyssey, for a musky citrus smell. Might be a batch thing? Skin scent thing? I’m not sure.

This is a very pleasant smelling scent. Initial spray has a strong blast of the Birch and aquatic notes, then settles within 30 mintutes. It does not last long at all, unfortunately. Update: With the poor performance and the "inky" smell, it isn't what I gravitate to anymore. Actually got rid of it.

I've tried 7 of Cremo's colognes. This is by far the worst. Very synthetic and cloying.

Like others have mentioned, I can’t quite figure out this scent. No desirable notes ever seem to jump out at me. Unfortunately, it smells like a rather indiscernible, mossy type scent that I find rather unpleasant. I believe others have commented on how it smells like grandparents or something rotting by a lake. Lol, I wouldn’t go so far as to say it smells that bad but I was definitely disappointed by this one. I do really enjoy “Iced Citron & Driftwood” from the Cremo line. That fragrance literally has the most mouth-watering “iced lemonade” opening, the dry-down features this super cuddly sweet musk and driftwood combo. It smells like you are out in the park on a summer day, laying and holding your significant other on a picnic blanket under the shade of some lemon trees. It truly is the most “cuddly” scent ever, the only thing is that the fragrance (as you may have guessed by the description) is completely unisex. I have enjoyed others from the Cremo line, SW&B is the only one that hasn’t worked for me.

DO NOT BUY based off these reviews. New formula is all lavender and should never have been named the same as the last one, 100% different and very feminine and not wearable. Was very impressed with Cremo up until this lavender overdose scent. Going in the bathroom for poo spray !!

Do not get it. It smells like syrup and is definitely the worst out of all the Cremo colognes do not buy.

I just picked up a bottle at my local Rite aid. So there was an open box that was a tester and I sprayed it on. I'm not kidding within less than 2 minutes I got a compliment from a lady and she said" ohhh you smell good, what you got on"? I simply told her it was Cremo and she commented again that it smelled really good. Anyway there was one sealed bottle left and I decided to buy. When I got home I was disappointed to find out the newer one smelled completely different. My wife said "why didn't you buy the other one"? I said I did, it's the same scent. I thought I was tripping at first until she said that. So I asked my son to take a whiff of the newer bottle and to smell wrist as well. He also thought they were different scents.The one I bought smelled like Pledge, very lemony, synthetic and lackluster. Long story short I exchanged the newer bottle for the tester. Tester smells kinda aquatic, with oakmoss,woods and lavender. Honestly, this was the best $19 I have ever spent on a scent. It smells very high quality and it reminds me alot of CK one summer 2004, but Cremo is not as floral smelling. Lastly I would have never thought a reformulation on a Cremo fragrance would be this relevant to ME. Lol I give this a 4/5. Try to find an older batch of you can though.

I have quite a few Cremo colognes, and they're awesome. This one smells good initially.....but..... #1 - Weak AF (as the young folks say). I mean I did 12+ sprays all over my hideously disfigured pasty-white body. Could barely smell it. It does smell like Silver Mountain Water in the initial phase though! So when I could smell it, it was very good. #2 - Deal-breaker alert. In the dry-down (~2 hours later), I get an unpleasant skin scent. I've smelled something similar while walking in the park near the creek. It's a mixture of dead animal wafting in the distance and muddy water. I can't go for that (no can do). Now my good friend @SupZero in his review mentioned that the two bottles he tried smelled completely different. Maybe I got a shit bottle. Damnit Cremo! You were batting a thousand before this! EDIT: The body wash smells amazing though.

I picked up a bottle of Cremo's Silver Water & Birch shampoo at the drug store the other day and immediately noticed that it smelled just like Silver Mountain Water. Then I saw the name and realized it must have been some attempt at cloning the famous Creed release. I have no idea how the Cremo Silver Water EDT itself smells, but I have to admit, the shampoo is spot on in terms of its basic smell. If you own the Creed and are looking for a shampoo that could match it, Cremo Silver Water & Birch shampoo is a good choice. It wasn't too expensive either, just $8.99. Anyway, this isn't really a review for the fragrance or anything, but I know that real Silver Mountain Water shampoo doesn't exist, so it can't hurt to know that this is out there as something you could use if SMW happens to be your signature scent.

I have not smelled this cologne, ...but the note pyramid? ...and the main accords? How can this possibly be perceived as being similar to Silver Mountain Water by so many people?? ...besides having the words 'silver' and 'water' in the name. Yes, fragrance perception is very subjective, but situations like this just boggle the mind.

Honestly confused about some of the other reviews, but this gets great performance on my skin. Reminds me a lot of silver mountain water, except cremo brand is very affordable but smells high quality. Would recommend “spice & Black vanilla” from the house of cremo as well.

Question for the fellas here... I haven't whiffed this one, but I've gotten Blue Cedar and Cypress for my husband. Could this one, or any of the other Cremo's be unisex? How do you think this would wear on a woman? Opinion?

First Cremo Cologne and I’m pretty impressed. It’s got a pretty good sillage. Only down side for this cologne would be a 5 hour longevity; Lasts longer on clothes. All in all I’d give it a 7.5/10

Very very similar to Al Rehab Silver, but with additional bit of skin scent smoothness. I somewhat regret buying this; for the money, just go with AR Silver.
