Vigour

I use lavender essential oil to reset my occasionally overstimulated olfactory senses. It soothes, it heals wounds (nothing better for burns) and it makes my heart sing. Vigour is lavender dominant; a soft, almost creamy lavender without any harshness or camphorous notes. Everything else in this fragrance supports the lavender and it feels like real essential oils, giving the composition an alive quality I like. The opening is a blast of grapefruit and bergamot (another two favourite essential oils) which are wildly invigorating until the lavender steps in and calms everything down. That's a good thing, not a criticism; and it makes Vigour more unisex than masculine. I will wear this when I'm wanting a strong, calming, beautiful fragrance. It almost moves into aromatherapy territory. It's not powerful on me but it projects well and can easily be worn by any gender. I could still smell this on my skin 12 hours after only one spray. Very lavender forward but pleasant. It's Clean, fresh, antiseptic, non. To me, it's giving Imperial Leather Soap and Dettol.

There's a lavender bush that blooms in my backyard, one that's been allowed to grow somewhat wild. Recently, during the course of a working-bee, it was hacked back to a more manageable size. I walked into the garden shortly after the offcuts had been stacked together and thought someone should bottle that smell , and, well, here we are. This starts with citrus but that only lasts a moment before the lavender takes center stage. It is a little one-note from this point, but when I mean one-note I mean it smells of lavender as a whole , stem and all. Probably the closest I've smelt to the actual plant in fragrance (though, granted, I really haven't gone looking, so take that statement with a grain of salt). Doesn't shout, just hums along. Could probably lean unisex even if it's not my personal vibe. The brand states that this is "non-pretentious" and "minimalistic" and I'd say both of those things are true - this isn't a multi-layered thing, it's just aiming for one note (and hits it). Can see the comparisons to essential oils, but they tend to be quite overpowering to my nose and thankfully this is somewhat toned down in comparison. If you like lavender, worth a try.

Unpretentious lavender centric fougère. Wears very easily and is a fresh and uplifting. Very nicely done
