Cuba Brown

Cuba Red reminded me of my early and mid eighties childhood in one way. This does in another. It also reminds me of my late teens and early twenties, outfitting myself at Goodwill and Salvation Army almost exclusively. Cuba Red makes me think of manufactured wood paneling walls and my uncle's car. Cuba brown makes me think of the colorful, lava-like shag carpet clamped under the baseboards pinned to that wood paneling in my grandparents' finished basement. It makes me think of the smell of my grandfathers' favorite chairs and their winter Carharts. It's dusty but not musty. Old in terms of nostalgia, but not so distinctly dated that it's alarming. The tobacco isn't listed, but it feels like it's there. Very, very ashy, blonde cigarette tobacco. Paper and all. The bergamot is surprisingly bright in the opening, with a much more diversely citric character. I think those talking about lime are totally correct.. The oakmoss really pops in the dry down. The tobaccania of it gives the likely synthetic jasmine a very tobacco blossom flavor. A wonderful men's chypre that fits in your pocket, if you get the 30 ml cigar tube, for the inevitable reapplication the weak performance will eventually require. Nothing to complain about. Love it in fact.

Yeah this one is great. I do get the lime note and alot of wood notes and moss. Sprayed 2 times on the wrist and got one complement that its good but as it dried down after 1 hour i got a nice complement and got asked is it a dior frag because it smells like a high end parfume.... Also i saw some comments about how bad it lasts but for me it lasts about 5-7 hours its ok. Projection isnt that bad too, its not a skin scent because it does project quite ok for 1hour. I rate this frag a 7,5 its a good price.

I know it is a men's fragrance but I just love wearing it. Sometimes I need to get away from the florals and orientals and just have to have that fabulous earthy scent that is rare in women's fragrances. Lots of fun. My husband said he liked it on me until I told him what it was!

Very similar to Armani Aqua di Gio! It has a softer sillage. BUT for that money it is excellent!

I believe this is the Cuba I tested today... Surprisingly good! The opening has a sweet lime or citrus feel, with a touch of spice and men's cologne smell to it. Just 10 minutes later and the aroma on my hand is gorgeous tonka bean with clean powder! Not Talc itself, so much as the perfect powder evocative of childhood, clean sheets, and bath time. In seeing the notes here, that gentle sweetness I'm enjoying is most definitely jasmine. Interestingly, except for the first few minutes of masculine territory, Cuba Brown comes across as very unisex. I've very much enjoyed smelling it on myself today, but would also find it quite attractive on a man. A moderately sweet, clean scent good for wearing in the summer heat. Traditional but not too familiar - very nicely balanced. Cologne strength with relatively good longevity and moderately soft sillage. To sum up: Well done. Fresh and yet comfy is hard to find!

I am a fan of this scent that opens up with a robust burst of the bergamot, then settles in as what I imagine is a pretty characteristic chypre with maybe more sweetness than traditional chypres, very nice scent for such a low price - but the longevity on this one, even among just it's Cuba Paris family of bargain scents - is shockingly brief. I find the longevity for the others better than their price would suggest - at 4-6 hours for all of them - but this one I only get 90 minutes tops before I can barely even smell it at all, even with my nose pressed right to my skin. Perhaps this one is heavily prone to olfactory fatigue? This doesn't make it useless, but for me it limits it to household use for easy re-application, or utilitarian functions like spraying a pillow before bed.

I have eight Cubas now and, I have to say, that this is my least favourite so far. Cubas are normally so good, with loads of character. Brown is a woody scent with a synthetic floral/bergamot background. Longevity and sillage are not good. It was a blind buy so you can't always be too pleased I suppose. The dry down is a fairly pleasant and close-to-the-skin bergamot/woody smell. Cuba Brown is not bad but I won't replace when (or if) I've used this up. I am so disappointed with this Cuba, it's just too ordinary.

This was given to me as a gift from a friend I used to smoke cigars with; the gesture was much appreciated. I don't really take this fragrance seriously; but it is a descent smell. It is earth and deep. Perfect if you like to smoke, or like the smell of a sweet flavored cigar. I wouldn't personally buy it; but all in all....it's not bad!

I just got this in and testing the scent. Soft simple smooth sweet wood smell... I'm not an expert but nothing harsh here.

This one was disappointing. I detect cedar on the initial blast but it dies off quickly giving way to a very synthetic aldehyde that I suppose is the "musk". Stick with Cuba Royal, this one is not worth it. Luckily the projection and longevity is equally awful.

Synthetic, A fellow coworker said ( smells like off) you know as in the bug spray. 1/10 move on my friend.

I gifted my husband with a bottle of this for Christmas & we both are loving it. His chemistry just seems to work so well with the Cuba Cigar line of scents. This one is all woodsy and very much a unisex scent. I couldn't place my finger on what it reminded me so clearly of and then wham! It hit me! Shalimar! It smells so similar to my Shalimar EDT I am wigged out a bit over it, actually. This is an amazing scent at a hideous price point : $9. USD for a large bottle in a cool tin can. I love the Red version, but this "brown" edition is fantastic as well. If you do not like tobacco or citrus scents, you probably will not enjoy this. It doesn't have a lot of longevity to the scent, but that's okay...just enjoy it while Around the house or while watching a movie. It's a sexy, cozy scent. Best wishes!

I very much so agree with RobbieX and Spartan. I love Cuba Paris and own 13 in their line now. My least favorites are Brown, Black, and Prestige Black (Gold, Royal, and Winner are amazing). Brown is way to overpowering at first and there is definitely too much Cedar and Bergamot for my tastes. The weird thing is I loved the way it smelled when I sniffed the atomizer before spraying. It also definitely does smell like OFF to me. For me it's a hot mess I would never wear it again.

I found this one reminding me strongly of Bvlgari Aqva... with a pinch of tobacco and an added garnish of black pepper sprinkled on top. But while Aqva is heavy on the head and heart, Cuba Brown's base is more-prominent: here the woods dominate the water- quite richly and well-done I might add!

This smells OK and you definitely get the lime. Sort of like Pinaud Citrus Musk. It reminds me of a soft drink. Maybe coke and sprite mixed together. Possibly mountain dew. I can't place it exactly.

I think this fragance is very close to Herrera Men, it is very cheap here in Chile. It last 3-4 hours.

Cuba paris "brown edition" smells good just doesnt last for nothing tho! Fruity,spicey,green..

Smells too sweet and like cigar with sandal wood and sugar sort of like plastic

I get lots of compliments from women when i wear this. Women love it!
