Champaca

Absolutely agree with @bunnymusk and @rexarini’s beautiful reviews. The bitter-tart apricot open was off-putting at first, but now I find myself re-applying during my wear to get another hit of it~ This smells like late summer/very early fall to me. It wears close to skin like a natural, but it doesn’t have that waxy smell in the background so many of them do. I mainly get apricot and champaca, but much like bunny’s review the open is clearly a dried apricot, touched with bitter herbs, which slowly softens into a juicy ripe apricot and sweet, powdery Champaca. It’s the color of autumn leaves. All gushing aside, the MSRP on this is insane. I was able to snag a failed blind buy; and I think you can find them marked down relatively regularly.

I was immediately intrigued by this fragrance. I’m not sure that I immediately liked it. For me, the set was so unusual. It was intoxicating. I vacillate it on whether I thought that the fragrance was worth the cost. Over the course of a few days, I continue to return to the fragrance. In fact, I craved it. It was such an unusual scent. I decided after perhaps two days that I loved it. It is truly captivating. I love the stance so much that I am eager to try more. The price point is steep, but I do think that it’s worth it. While, I’ve never experienced Champaka in nature, there is a slight hint of familiar other notes .Absolutely phenomenal fragrance. Reminds me of a funky apricot schnaps. I wear the fragrance often.

At first sniff it reminds me of dried apricots and black licorice, warm and gently powdered, but ten minutes post application it transforms into something quite fresh. The apricot hydrates on the skin, no longer dried fruit but juicy nectar, the licorice notes turn woody, and the scent of velvety, humid champaca blossoms emerge. This is not nose to bud floral, it’s translucent, delicate, a breeze filtering through the flowering tree. Only mildly sweet, very calming.

Powdery floral gourmand that provides an immediate transportation to a fruit and flower market in a Southeast Asian country like Cambodia. The perfume opens with tart bitter notes of apricot, davana, and pear. The floral heart has the central champaca note surrounded by some ylang and violet. The perfume settles on a powdery semi synthetic floral musk base surrounded by opoponax resin and orris. The feminine leaning scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. It is a nice calming scent but a frightfully expensive experience for what’s offered. Enjoy!
