415 AD

I'm lucky that there's a boutique literally across the street from where I live that still had this in stock. I had tested a few of their scents a few years ago and remember that 415 AD was the surprise hit for me. I got a GC card for their shop and knew I was going to buy this. I got the last bottle. This is really HTF in the US because it's from a small perfumerie in New Zealand where the international shipping is restrictive and expensive. If you can get your hands on their perfumes, they're devine! So, onwards. 415AD is like nothing I have in my very vast perfume collection. This is a pure perfume concentration and it lasts on my skin/hair/clothes/sheets for an impressively long time. Totally worth every penny. The scent is an initial blast of tangy grapefruit and earthy tomato vine. This combination makes my mouth literally water. This a tangle of notes that are zesty, grassy, citrusy, herbal, with dashes of spice, incense and wood masterfully threaded in. Normally, this would not be a scent category I'd care for, but this particular formulation is mastery on my skin. I love every single stage this scent evolves on my skin. It's addictively delightful, and I have to restrain myself to not wear it everyday. If I were to define it by season I'd say Spring/Summer. This makes me feel more connected to nature just by smelling this. Transportative, this makes me want feel like a person in a Mediterranean field, napping against a tree near a garden with all the wafting scents of the day tickling my senses. Instant love.

Smells how you want to believe the #vanlife #cozytravels instagrammer with the man bun smells. Aromatic, fresh, outdoorsy, woodsy with the undernote of resins. The opening was a bit overtly resin-heavy mall-hippie for my taste but that faded in five minutes. The dry down is very attractive and I keep bringing my wrist up to sniff. Unisex in a gender fluid way rather than the "this lemon fragrance can be worn by a man or a woman!" way of many modern unisex scents. Moderate scent bubble based on a two pump skin test in a cool room. Seems very heat responsive and is definitely a stronger scent when I'm more active and warmer.

An aromatic green fragrance, naturalistic and surprisingly easy to wear even in the warmest of weather. There’s a slightly musky base note present in the drydown, not sure which of the listed ingredients is the culprit — maybe the Oud mixed with resins? — but I like it. Performance is above average. Lastly, I believe there’s quality ingredients here but it’s in the high retail range of $265 for 50 ml for an extrait. Not a crazy amount but I have to be head over heels to pay retail (and 415 is not something easy to find on the gray market). My review comes after wearing 415 twice.

There's a lot of tomato leaf up front - very green and fresh. After a few minutes there's bright citrus and some spicy herbal greens that come forward. Totally unisex. It's staying pretty close to the skin but I can smell it just around me.
