From Hell

Given that most (if not all) of Cursed's fragrances are essentially dupes (albeit very well executed ones), I spent a long time pondering what this huge patchouli bomb could be inspired by. My best guess up to now is that it is a take on Psychadelique by Jovoy - but somehow even more potent! Two little sprays from a sample vial this morning and I'm still absolutely awash with resinous patchouli and amber six hours later. The performance is insane. Clones or not, these fragrances are BIG and last all day (and beyond).

This scent grew on me, a powdery/patchouli/burnt incense smell that I didn't enjoy to begin with but couldn't stop enjoying throughout the day. One of the stronger fragrances I've tried too so longevity isn't an issue. I would say though for the fragrance that Cursed push as their most masculine I think its closer to a masculine leaning unisex fragrance.

well, I'm a woman if I am still allowed to say that and I just love this! I sent for 3 samples (all masculine scents) and love them all but From Hell is something I've been hoping for for years. If the 'Goth' bit scares you off then get over yourselves and try some. Going to try the feminine ones next .

This could easily be unisex. It reminds me a little of Mugler Angel. It's the only perfume that matches the whole Cursed theme is going for. It's dark and heavy. Strong patchuli and sandalwood. I Would wear it even if it's supposed to be for men, it's definitely unisex.

As an aging goth, I love the whole schtick of this house and admittedly, it smells amazing. For an hour and then it’s gone. Completely. No skin scent, nothing. And I’m not known for under applying fragrances.

As much as I dislike the name and Jack the Ripper reference, I was really excited to try out this scent, which I saw mentioned as the best and most complex from this brand. I was prepared for some quite shocking, hellish (but sexy) experience Yet what I got seems a lot like a dupe of Lord of Misrule by Lush (which I love and already own - and which, in my experience, lasts longer). Also brings Thierry Mugler's Angel to mind (but this one is less sweet). It is indeed a goth scent as the main note is classic, strong (and beloved by goths) pachouli, with a sweet vanilla note and some amber notes just after spraying. As time passes, only dark pachouli note remains. The scent is unisex at first, then a the lighter notes disappear it leans more masculine and dark. Good for nights out but I wouldn't wear it in the daytime, to work etc as it's just too much pachouli.

Hmmmm, I'd hoped I'd been given the bottled equivalent of a slashed throat, but sprayed on something like a bitten lip. It might look interesting but it's not particularly painful, challenging, long lasting or life changing. A fragrance called From Hell should be something that grabs your nostrils and imagination like Salvador Dali Pour Homme (which is full of blood and amimalic sophistication), but this is ... pleasant, safe and polite. In practice, it has a mellow heart of patchouli and amber, like a weaker sibling of Ard Al Zaafaran's Oud 24 Hours Majestic Gold, plus a buttery top of cacao and benzoin.

Bit crap. Smells dark and intense, yes, but in a similar way to Deep Heat cream. Doesnt smell like deep heat just reminds me of something medicinal. And not in a cool way. If I smelled someone wearing this I’d assume it was some sort of bug repellant.

Opening: patchouli quite dominant and threatens to overwhelm the sandalwood, cacao and the amber accord. Mid-game: after the patchouli settles the cacao and amber comes to the fore and enhance the sandalwood. Dry-down: clary sage courtesy of the ambroxan gives a herbal note to broaden the amber accord. Overall: an engaging ambery/patchouli scent that leans masculine.
