Amber 7

Amber, a hugely popular ingredient is extensively used in perfumery. To understand amber better I bought pure Amber malliki oil from a very reputed firm. Though I like Amber based fragrances a lot, this pure oil was too strong and unwearable. But people who stood fifteen feet away liked the wafts of this amber oil. Just as you can love/like some people only from a distance so it was with this Amber Malliki oil (whatever that word Malliki means) But Amber 7 is on a different level altogether. It opens with bergamot/lime and the ambery accord of high quality benzoin with labdamun join later with eucalyptus. Ginger works very well throughout. Other notes are little difficult to identify as they are all well blended and come together as one scent. Its spicy amber in the beginning but then myrtle emerges making the scent slightly sweeter and it truly shines then along with mild animalic aspect of an ethereal, smooth styrax with a thin woody base. This doesn't share similarities with Ambre Sultan, Grand Soir or other amber scents. Better so. Amber 7 is unique unto itself and a bold, beautiful and a spicy take on the beastly amber that has been made perfectly wearable with the help of spices and various other ingredients. All C&S fragrances scream quality and uniqueness. Amber 7 is among the best amber fragrances I have tried. Try it.

To me it is a refreshing/crisp/aromatic almost old school fougere style fragrance. I know oakmoss isn’t listed, but I get eucalyptus/rosemary/oakmoss smells most of all. There is a bit of well dosed sweetness but if you are expecting Grand Soir or Ambre Sultan style amber this isn’t like that at all. I like it though. 8.1/10

Great new release from Czech and Speake! Starts out citrusy, spicy and herbal. During the dry down it turns into a very nice amber with base notes of super creamy benzoin, vanilla and labdanum. Moderate to more intimate projection, but lasts extremely long on skin. Somewhat subtle but complex, mature and sophisticated scent. Bottle looks amazing as well. Base notes remain quite strong on skin for 8-9 hours with mostly the vanilla type scent. 1 spray on clothes will preserve more of the amber and spicy/ woody notes longer vs benzoin/ vanilla. I can’t speak about sillage as I haven’t done a test of 3-5 sprays with a full size bottle. Not my favorite note profile in the world with the herbal opening, but if you want a sophisticated amber and vanilla heavy fragrance this is a great one! I prefer a bit more of warm spicy side for cold months. 7.5/10

Had a sample. Never having experienced their perfumes before but always been interested via adverts on fb. Well... The plastic sample viles are awful (directly from them) barely spray and end up making your finger drenched instead of spraying out. The fragrance. Dry and old. Dusty.... I love amber... And oddly this doesn't have a touch of amber in it. On their notes or on here. And that is present. This is one of the first fragrances I've had to scrub off in a very long time. I could smell it up my nose all day. I had to take my top off and wash it. If you're wanting an oldy smelling amber then I'd highly recommend ambre 114 by histories de parfums.

This is a stand out fragrance , the initial hit is warm and sensual and very distinctive. The dry down is clean and fresh whilst somehow still retaining the warm and sensual . I absolutely love it , I’m familiar with all Czech & Speaks fragrances and have some preferences but this is definitely my favourite . It’s a day / night any season fragrance because is its complexity and the skilfull blend of ingredients . Infinitely versatile , it’s a very evocative scent , people will ask you what you’re wearing often .
