Pineapple Musk

Sampling Dame Perfumery – Pineapple Musk, a 2022 release from this Arizona-based house, a well-named freshie that indeed smells like a fresh, pineapple-rich, musky blend that captures both the sweet and tart aspects of the fruit. The more complete note breakdown includes jasmine, apple, rose, lemon, patchouli, amber, and musk, and in a very general sense, that the fragrance is well-rounded and sophisticated lends credence the notion that there are other supporting notes, particularly in its restrained tartness and sweetness in the opening. It smells a bit more naturally calm in the dry down, quite beautifully. I’m really quite impressed by this. Though the overall performance is not as robust as Pinyon Pine Man Cologne that I recently tried, but it’s still quite good, especially considering the unusual pricing in the current market. Pineapple Musk is EDT concentration, priced very reasonably at $75 for 100ml, and sold in the US via the house website and the boutique Olfactif. I think it’s a great deal, as is pretty much everything from this house. 8 out of 10

A freshly cut sweet, juicy golden pineapple lying on a bed of bright white musk with a faint citrus sparkle. Like a very fruity pineapple fluff. The apple and plum are prominent supporting notes as the opening settles down, along with light floral accents, and underpinning everything is a very green vegetal patchouli. Moderate projection fades over 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr. Yes, the pineapple scent I've always wanted without being an Aventus clone and/or cloying synthetic mess! Fresh, clean, and the pineapple is exceptionally natural. So lively and invigorating, but not blow-your-nose-out bright like heavily camphorous fragrances or Dame's own Minty Man cologne. Fantastic scent profile, though the longevity is a bit lacking. Not exactly like Dame's New Musk with added pineapple, since the apple is pretty noticeable and the patchouli adds a bit of a twist. You could say they've a similar base with different fruity veneers.

Wonderful realistic pineapple from the start, then quickly the muskiness comes out too. Beautiful and sadly discontinued, but you can still get samples from Olfactif.

Truly realistic pineapple ! It just smells like fresh pineapple to me. The musk is just noticeable in the background... after a while. The fresh fruit accord is not really long lasting. You need to reapply. I guess this is quite difficult to produce long lasting such realistic pineapple scents. I'm coping with longevity by spraying it in my hair. Then it smells delicious all day long. I just notice that the hair oil is available for sale at the moment. I need it.

When I sprayed a sample of this on paper, I got a fairly lovely if not mildly overripe pineapple with just a touch of artificial sweetness. After this little test I deemed it safe to spritz on my skin as I am rather picky about scents and end up having to scrub most things off. That all being said... something must’ve happened with this perfume and my skin chemistry because I have zero clue how this turned into something like an expensive hotel massage oil. On me it smells very much like some sort of essential oil blend, primarily lavender, along with eucalyptus, tea tree, rosemary, and whatever else they mix in at spas. Then maybe a drop of pineapple juice that spilled into the mixture but was deemed to negligible to have any real affect on things. It’s not bad if you like that kind of thing, but it’s certainly not pineapple. Out of the bottle it certainly smelled like pineapple, but just be warned that it can have quite the confusing reaction to skin in at least one rare case. Even so, if you do get this same reaction, I’m sure you can spritz onto fabrics or clothings and not get this full transformation of scent.

Firstly thanks to Avian for passing the sample onto me. This is an enjoyable scent. The pineapple doesn't smell too candy or too tart. Sweet and tropical. There is a general musky floral accord that is soft and prevents the scent from feeling too sticky or unsophisticated. This perfume is for the Jo Malone girlies, has a similar feel to those type perfumes. Realistic, simple, pretty, light, and unfortunately a bit too ephemeral. However, might be worth trying if you're looking for pineapple scent without smelling cloying.

I bought this blind, without sampling, as soon as it was released, and it's amazing stuff. It's fresh, zingy pineapple with a bit of sweetness and citrus from other fruits, on a bed of floral musk. This is what I had wanted L'Artisan Ananas Fizz to be like, as that one hits me with a very sharp grapefruit/pineapple and a heavy, lingering pencil-shavings woodiness. I've found my perfect pineapple scent in this. Outstanding creation.

If you're interested in a bottle, they're currently 50% off on his site from the original retail price you mentioned. Really enjoying my sample, and definitely think it would be a bargain at that price to add to my collection.

Is this safe for people who struggle with patchouli? Sometimes the note isn't too strong...
