Sky Father

Sad that I didn’t review this yet, considering I’ve had it for a year! Slacking. So, it’s no secret (if you’ve seen any of my other dame reviews) - he does it right. If you’ve purchased anything from him in the past, expect samples when new releases come out. I think that’s awesome. I hope he always runs his business that way. Skyfather: So I think I understand the name. Sky being airy, transparent, bright. Father being strong, pronounced, dominant. Sky notes: zesty citrus, lime, neroli, vanilla. Father notes: cinnamon, lavender, musk, anise You can see the contrast at play here. It’s fresh but dominant. Airy but dense. Zesty but spicy. Right but what does it smell like? Well it smells really nice. The most prominent notes I detect are zesty citrus, cinnamon and white musk. It’s almost effervescent. The overall composition reminds me (though does not smell like) Chanel egoiste. I don’t think younger guys will like this. Although it’s not a “mature” scent in the traditional sense, it is something that has to be appreciated and may not produce instant gratification. Dame does it right. I hope this house continues to gain popularity. 7/10

I know we all have different perceptions of smell so we all have to understand that when it comes to these reviews. With that said you might consider me nuts... So what I get is a little soapy vibe especially at first then after an hour or so I get a little Eau des Baux by L`Occitane. While this is enjoyable it's not my favorite from this house, New Musk Man is. 3rd Day update: OK, I judged this unfairly on day one and two, at first I was a little disappointed in performance but on the 3rd day I used 4 dabs on each arm instead of two and it changed my opinion big time! It lasted ALL DAY and was even a little too strong at first. This way out performs my favorite New Musk Man by a mile. Now if they can amp up New Musk I would never need another fragrance again - I love it that much. I still get a soapy Eau des Baux 'feel' to it.

imagine my surprise when one of the bonus samples included in my sample order turns out to be one of my faves - and i didn't even order any masculine scents! the opening of Sky Father on me is spicy citrus - sparkling lemon without any hint of a cleaning-product note, backed up by a hit of fresh air touched with cinnamon-clove. That sounds like a candle, but instead it's sophisticated and well-balanced... spicy with no hint of a bakery. as it dries down, the lavender, musk and herbs step forth. this is a refreshing and somehow clear scent. on me, it's not as soapy as others describe, but it is definitely clean, herbaceous, and musky. i may buy a bottle of this for my husband that i steal sprays from every once in a while... i really love it.

This is outstanding! For those of us who love the heavier scents, this is a fantastic summer scent. I was given a little 2ml sample of the alcohol based scent. So this is based on daubing it on the skin. I'm wearing this on a hot, humid, but slightly breezy, overcast day in the tropics (Haiti), and it's like it was made for this weather. Absolutely unisex, but because of it's vibe similar to Spicebomb (though I think this is better), it might be thought of as masculine. Personally, I love it for myself, but might just get a bottle for hubs because I know he'll love it too!

Really really good. I think this is the best Dame. There are some really good reviews below me, espec. pickenders so I'll leave it to him but would just say don't let the high vote count for clove and cinnamon scare you off. This is a complex and gentle scent that doesn't let the spices trounce the more delicate notes.

Opens smelling like a roll of Necco wafers - with extra clove and cinnamon wafers and missing the chocolate ones - and evolves into a clove infused Egoiste/Egoiste Concentree. Every one of those smell sublime, and the combo is like the chocolate and peanut butter of Reese's peanut butter cups - perfect synergy.

Let me preface my review by stating that I am huge Dame Perfumery fan: love some, like some and find others not to be my taste...but all their fragrances are interesting (Indie/Niche/Whatever), offer a great value, and their customer service is superior. What's not to like or at least respect about their offerings? Besides, don't ya get tired of arrogant bastards and bastardesses trying to convince you their two dollars of essential oils, aroma chemicals and perfumers alcohols is somehow worth one to two hundred times more after they've tinkered with it...just because it's Indie or Niche? Give me a break!!! Your penis will not grown larger nor your boobs get more perky after taking out a second mortgage to help pay for some of these shysters vacation homes and sports cars just because you felt compelled to be bilked out of your hard-earned money for an above-average scent. Okay, perhaps your nose DID get a bit more snoooty...so be it. Anyway, the folks at Dame mailed me yet another free sample (again without asking nor pestering me in any fashion) along with a poster of their latest advertising campaign. Needless to say, I was eager to try this latest release. Initially, I get one-third Dame fragrance DNA (don't know what it is but it's in most of their scents), one-third warmly-spiced and masculine aromatic tones (think cinnamon, lavender and clove) and one-third of a musky-aquatic (Aquava Velva) type vibe. I like! With a few minutes the blend comes together and I am left with with that Dame DNA as a more woody-creamy sandalwood and soapy (very soapy) vibe pushes forward. Although I find it to be really nice polished gentleman's aromatic-spicy scent for the Spring and Fall, there are some lightly playful vanilla, fruity and musky tones that could be rocked by confident woman. Moreover, there are some elements in Sky Father that will remind you of their Dark Horse and Black Flower Mexican Vanilla offerings...but I like this one much better since those didn't quite fit my style. Performance is solid in that it projects moderately and it lasts 7+ hours on my skin. On a side note, I did not like the advertising campaign...wanted to smack the stickly, unshaven model and rip-out his hideous locks. Seriously, put a manly type like me on your poster (i.e., hardened and slightly weather, 18" arms of steel, wearing jeans and v-neck t-shirt, a Colt .45 and K-Bar affixed to his side and who lumbers while exuding a trail of testosterone laden pheromones while in a Western backdrop. Now that's the kind of man who should buy a bottle of [Whose Your] Sky Daddy cologne. I'll be ordering a bottle later this week. LOL! But seriously, Sky Father is very nice and just behind Leather Man and New Musk Man in my list of favorites.

Received my sample via mail today along the lovely poster art, thanks Mr. Dame! Well no doubt Dame has quickly became one of my fav.Perfume Houses. Sky Father, which I read as (sky feather) at first.. lol like all other Dame creations easily enjoyable! Akawanis hit the nail on the head with his review. So quick take SF is like in taking fresh cool crisp air that's been entwined with wafts of sparking citrus and dancing spices of cinnamon & clove.. what I'm picking up the strongest on my skin is the spice..and deff agree it's the brighter counterpart to Dark Horse, deff picking up some similar vibes. Not yet to comment on Sillage and longevity but will do a further test and update. The subtle pick up when I'm move my hand is quite nice.

A blast of hot spices with a fresh veneer of cooling lemon-lime and aromatics that create an interesting hot-n-cold dynamic. Like someone dropped a bag of citruses in the spice closet and they splattered everywhere, while eating a plum. Beneath it all is a dense woody base tinted with a green, fougere-like shaving cream. Moderately strong projection for 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr. The plum and tons of cinnamon read quite sweet, which along with the "red" feeling from cinnamon + pimento bring to mind V&R Spicebomb Infrared. The big hit of allspice (which is actually what pimento berries are) also reminds me of Xerjoff Ivory Route. However, the barbershop undertones take this in a very unique direction.

One of the pair of Dame's latest releases, Sky Father is a pleasant fresh spicy mix that expectedly is geared toward men, a year-round blend of spices with sweet, floral, and woody undertones. The cinnamon and clove are the most predominant notes to my nose, giving it a comforting, wintery vibe not unlike the more fortuitous Dark Horse from the house that, unlike Sky Father, need be reserved only for cold weather wearing. Performance is solid for an EDP, and price is pretty reasonable at $85 for 100ml. I could certainly envision as being a man's signature scent, but it's pleasant enough to me 7 out of 10

158 I liked this more initially, but in the end it’s just an okay spiced tart citrus barber shop type scent, well blended, for men mostly. Dark horse shares its dna but is sweeter. There is a metallic dustiness when it dries down that I’m not a fan of. If bottles were 50-ml, I’d probably get a variety of scents from this line like Mexican vanilla. 100-ml is just too much juice to deal with. Scents notes this size fade before they can be used up unless this is the only thing you use. Also, the huge clunky awkward ugly square bottle is not impressive. I have dark horse and it’s between like/okay for me. I feel like this was better in the past, as well as Dark Horse and Mexican vanilla. 7/10-okay as men’s cologne best in warm weather. Would not repurchase.

Sky Father is an amazing artistic gem. I love it when there is synergy between creative disciplines, and this scent makes fusion easy. This is the perfume to wear listening to Native American flute, Carlos Nikai and his "Canyon Trilogy" classic. Together they are euphoria! It smells like spicy wind cutting through carved arroyos . . . a zephyr carrying the sanctifying scent of desert plants used in vision quests. More synergy. Expanding the feeling that you have been transported to the midst of an artist colony. V. Dave Dame's pen and ink drawing for the bottle label captures the spirit of the vision quest that this fragrance evokes. Adds to the creative aesthetic of the overall experience. And heightens the sense that you are wearing artwork. Although clove is the most identifiable note, it, like all other notes, has gone through a transformation. The accord combines the clove so that it seems refashioned into something new. This treatment is one of Dame's specialties - their Dark Horse features a similar fantastic clove in its drydown. Sillage and longevity are both good, and all day people tracked me down to find out what perfume I was wearing.

This is a very well executed fragrance. Dry, airy, evocative, smooth to dry down. The florals in the middle are my favorite part, though, sadly, they do not carry into the dry down. I found the cinnamon to be light, though present. Not a heavy gourmand cinnamon, but an airy cinnamon lighted by clove, which I would have not picked out as a specific note. This is very wearable day or night when you don't want your fragrance to announce you. Respectful and intimate. Please see the reviews from Picknenders and GodKing below: they capture the full essence of this fragrance better that I can. I am very sensitive to cinnamon in fragrances, and would not have not chosen this based on the presence of that note. Jeffrey Dame is very generous with samples, this being one I received. Guy with the citronella candle review needs to get his nose checked. Yes, it blasts you with citrus but there are a ton of spices and even anise up front. The drydown is where it is at and it begins around 20 minutes, so be patient. This becomes like Spicebomb fresh on steroids and as it gets later in the drydown some coffee bean and tonka join the party to add depth and richness. My favorite from the house. Fresh, spicy, masculine...modern. Could be a Penhaligons Endymion killer, though this one less barbershop and less floral. 4-6 hour moderate projection. 6-8 hour overall longevity.

I seldom, if ever, wear a masculine scent. But today I tried Sky Father and I fell in love with it. How can I not since it has two of my beloved notes, cinnamon and clove. On my skin, the most predominant notes are cloves, cinnamon, and plum. In that order. This is a delightful alternative from the usual summer scents and one I most certainly will get. Heck, I'm going to get this even before I get Earth Mother. Jeff, you're a real genius. Time you exported your beautiful creations to Europe and show the unimaginative designer brands over there "how it's done." ;)

High quality. Individual notes can readily be identified, but it is also blended quite seamlessly. Citrus, cloves, cinnamon, anise, florals are all obvious and glorious in this one. The name Sky Father, the evocative artwork on the bottle, and the dry, spiced scent bring to mind wintertime in the desert Southwest: wide open landscapes, scented cool air, sweet mesquite burning somewhere in the distance. This perfume is transportative. Comforting, but also tinged with remoteness, perhaps even melancholy. Different from the herd.

I've seen a few people mention this as a spring or summer scent, but on me it's pretty dense cinnamon and clove scent, and I would be more inclined to wear it in the winter. It reminds me of the holidays and mulled cider, or something. I'm not usually a fan of scents with cinnamon as a predominant note though. I tried New Musk Man as well and I'm really enjoying that one.

I am going to second the recommendation that one take the time to scroll down and read GodKing's review. Effective, for sure. That being said, I thought that a kind of man this was well-suited for, based on a sample that was passed around, is the man that might be mistaken for Willie Nelson. Or Jerry Garcia's twin.

Just received my sample. Classiv Vintage Chanel Egoiste Vibe, modernized. Absolutely fantastic. My goodness. A must have! Jeffrey Dame, you have done it again my Man! High Five!

This reminds me of a citronella candle to ward off mosquitoes. Why anyone would want to smell like this beats the hell out of me.
