Soliflore Tuberose

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a dude and tuberose scares the crap out of me! In fact, I still have nightmares of smelling like Carnal Flower, and radiating waves of tuberose like the core of a nuclear power plant, for days and days and days. So it was great trepidation that I tried a sample of Jeffrey Dame's Soliflore Tuberose included with a recent purchase. The verdict is that I like it and wouldn't mind smelling this one on the ladies. To me, this fragrance is a tame tuberose (with tame being the operative word in this sentence) that has a slight medicinal/plasticy vibe to it. I realize that the terms medicinal and plasticy may not sound so great, but it really adds a very pleasant touch to this tuberose with a volume control. Performance is okay for this kind of fragrance; it lasts about 7-8 hours on my skin and projects moderately. As others have mentioned, it's a tame tuberose that is pleasant and plays well with others. Since I am not a tuberose fanatic, my review may not provide you with much insight. However, as a dude who cannot tolerate tuberose scents that are excessively loud, obnoxious and scream at me...well, I kinda like this one because it's pleasant, sexy, interesting and quite kind to my olfactory senses. If Soliflore Tuberose were a women, I would date it. :) Dame Perfumery Soliflore Tuberose is a solid like for me...which is a rarity for me when it comes to tuberose!!!

Beautiful soliflore. Quiet for a tuberose but personally, that's part of its charm for me - as I'm not always in the mood for a scent with a reach of five city blocks. It opens green and slightly mentholated but quickly segues into the main event: a creamy, smooth and gently spiced tuberose. No more than a tiny bit sweet (not the candy sweetness of Fracas, thankfully). It's very realistic and well done. Wearing it is a treat...it seems to meld with your skin in such a way that you're not sure where the perfume ends and where your skin begins. It is the rare fragrance that I enjoy equally from the moment I put it on, until its last breath on my skin. I can easily see this becoming a signature scent for me. Dame Perfumery is proof positive that independent perfumery doesn't have to be exorbitantly priced. This amazing gem will get a lot of wear this summer. Edit: Wearing for a few days straight now....*sigh*....this stuff is gorgeous. Must. Acquire. Second. Bottle.

This is an olafactory ride in bliss! It is so camphorous/mentholated in the opening, as soon as its on. I know I must wait paitiently, as within minutes it starts to change,.. pulsating, it begins bloom and to resemble plush Tuberose flowers as we know it. This soliflore is true to the flower, photorealistic, it is buttery and green, I Absolutely Love it! Another masterpiece. It has moderate longevity and stays close.

This is yummy, mentholated goodness. It's one of my favorite tuberose perfumes.

Smells like a true mentholated tuberose not the bubblegum overripe stuff (which I also love). Less criminal than Tubereuse Criminelle Serge Lutens. Solid LIKE. -

If this is what the epitome of tuberose smells like (besides soft minthols), then certain fragrances really do smell like tuberose. Nishane Tuberoza and Armani Prive Vert Malachite smell like intense sweet versions of this type of tuberose instead of fragrances like Amouage Love Tuberose. The initial menthol is light and tolerable. Then it become softly sweet and the light version of Armani Prive Very Malachite. It’s now easy to tell that some perfumers use too much tuberose when trying to make the gardenia accord. This is why I unknowingly avoided most gardenia perfumes because of this particular scent. This sweet smell of tuberose I have never smelled in a living flower personally. I also have never smelled a tuberose flower in person. There is a particular smell in Tuberose fragrances in general that smell like something I remember smelling at my great aunt’s house when I was little. I have always associated this scent with old lady, but never actually smelled an older lady wear this. Mind you, I have succumbed to my nose’s desire to smell like old lady. 😆 I think I prefer Dame’s gardenia and ginger lily more than this one. Smelling Soliflore Tuberose helps me understand what I do and do not like in fragrances. So I value the experience. It is nice but is not a favorite.

WARNING: Very challenging. Try before you buy. Not your department store silky flower, this sharp and vegetal tuberose is in the same vein as Tubereuse Criminelle by Serge Lutens, perhaps slightly less harsh or dramatic, but equally challenging. Like Tubereuse Criminelle, this one starts with loads of Methyl Salicylate ("vics-vapo") and more. I also get a variety of medicinal hints, from medical bandage to some Chinese herbal ointment. Then comes the green vegetal stage. Unlike Tubereuse Criminelle, this one doesn't have that outspoken “fish mint” note, just a regular harsh raw vegetal scent, the "fish mint" is hidden somewhere underneath. At this time, I feel the perfume has already entered the skin scent stage, and the floral part finally slide into the scent. I got a raw vegetal orange flower feel, and a little bit old tea leaves hints like in Tuberose CO2 extract, but that's all about it. That’s pretty much the whole “floral” chapter. In fact, Not very "floral" at all, I'd say. Since this perfume is more vegetal than floral, nothing creamy or sweet, this is a tuberose safe for men to wear. Or, to put in a more precise way: it's equally challenging on both men and women

The cap smells amazing and so does this fragrance at first. Unfortunately, it nosedives from realistic, sumptuous tuberose into cheap, plastic bubblegum in no time at all.

I have to agree with most of the reviews that state the mentholated opening: VEEEERY EXTREME Vicks Vaporub, astringent smell of the way the severe alcohol burn of Listerine mouthwash tastes! Aye! It dries down to the beautiful lightly sweet (less sweet than Diptyque's Do Son), creamy and meaty tuberose smell. I have no idea how to feel about the SUPER MEDICINAL opening... It seems an awful compromise to make to smell like the kind of Vicks Vapor Rub/Listerine blast that tears the hairs out of your nose for half an hour just to wait for the beautiful mellow complex creaminess of the tuberose dry down. Don't know if I could deal with it. Edit: A year later and I have come to realize what a value such well done, INTENSELY indolic fragrances are! You begin to crave that sensory experience of being jolted through your senses and experiencing a form of sensory ART. Indoles grab a hold of you and before you know it... you are, once again, catapulted through a narcotic rush of disgust and infatuation craving that sensation again and again.

Dame's Soliflore line seems to be a great concept, especially form women, in exploring fresh florals. Tuberose is a not I sometimes like but sometimes don't, and in Dame's creation, I'm roughly on the fence here as well. To Jeffrey's credit, it does make me think (and I don't claim to be a tuberose or floral expert) of a natural tuberose, neither as sweet nor as sharp as some creations I've tried. Overall quite fresh, without any other detectable accords, it's a predictably feminine-leaning but still pleasant floral, and decent-performing considering its composition, but not one I'd reach for. 6 out of 10

Very beautiful and realistic pure tuberose. Smells like a fresh lei, from Hawaii. Opening has a weensy bit of similarity to Tubereuse Criminelle... Dries down to a clean fleshy tuberose flower. It reminds me a bit of TF Orchid Soleil, minus the rice/corn note. It also smells much more expensive than it is! Longevity seems good so far, and sillage is pretty good, I definitely keep getting beautiful whiffs... I've read it's gorgeous layered with Dame Gardenia. I hope to own both! FB worthy, at only 35$! (For a roller ball) If you love tuberose, don't think twice!:)

This one smell almost identical to Tubereuse Criminelle by Serge Lutens. A little lighter and less aggressive but all the things that one can experience from Tubereuse Criminelle are featured here. As this scent slowly dries down it takes a 180 degree turn and becomes softer, more comforting and more coconuty/milky while TC doesn't really change its challeging smell through time, that's when the difference between the two scents become really apparent.

My husband ordered me some tuberose bulbs. After planting, watching, and waiting they have bloomed! I reached over the pretty white flower, and took a whiff. Oh my goodness, that beautiful smell emerged. I just can’t get over it. Then I told my husband that I have a tuberose soliflore oil that smells JUST LIKE THIS FLOWER. I am so excited. I can go out and smell the real thing, or just smell my wrists. Same scent. Thank you Dame!

Get the oil.. The spray can run a little camphorous, but that is a facet of true tuberose. It was already throwing out its fragrance as I opened the box. This is a straight unadulterated Tuberose. This collection is for a modern minimalistic chic or simplicity without artifice. Its wonderful to layer with Gardenia and Orange blossom from the line. Beautiful.

Just received this in the mail, and I LOVE IT! It smells so good, very true to its name, and it lasts. I bought the oil, put it on at 7:20am, and I'm writing this at 2:14ctz, and I can still smell it. Also smells good with a little RP Fracas over it, but last on its own. If you have any doubts, I highly recommend this. You wont be let down.

Soft and spicy almost a buttery component and then the wild tuberose intoxicating to say the least. Glorious!
