Chantilly Eau de Vie

Juicy Pear, Tropical Frangipani & Madagascar Vanilla... I just have a small travel spray, but this isn't similar to the original Chantilly by Dana. Juicy pear opening with just a hint of cassis, that transitions to a creamy, tropical & white-floral heart, all resting on a sandalwood & Madagascar-vanilla base blended with some warm amber. During the long drydown, it takes on an almost caramel aspect from the pear blended with vanilla. This isn't an original scent profile, and it's along the lines of Viva La Juicy Juicy Couture & Meow Katy Perry, but it's really well done with good performance. This could be worn year round and would cut through cooler weather, but the scent profile leans more spring-summer due to the tropical facets. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I bought this scent as part of a Dana gift set which I purchased for myself on clearance sale. Chantilly Eau de Vie has good longevity and sillage, better than I was expecting. The very realistic pear opens this fragrance, then I get the wonderful white flowers, which are light but sensual.The drydown is powdery and spicy, with a hint of the actual Chantilly perfume scent. This is a sexy fragrance, but also rather elegant.

If only this got the marketing that the popular brands get, this would be very popular. It's made during the right time, it's just no one knows about it. It is sweet and floral. Smells like Burberry her Blossom or tease flower. I love love love this!!!!

This fragrance favors cooler spring weather, like in the 50's fahrenheit. It's singing it's true beauty now in this cool weather and I am delighted! Ooh this is a beauty now!

I am very happy right now. I was so worried that this would end up air freshener since I bought a bottle of the original Chantilly and was so disappointed that it didn't smell the same as it did when I wore it in high school. The original Chantilly was very much like Shalimar, except a bit softer and more powdery, the new formulation smells like 7-up w/ baby powder. I gave it to my niece to play dress up with. Anyway on to Chantilly Eau de vie..... This is a gourmand pear scent to my nose. The florals are more like flower petals that give this perfume a creamy texture. The vanilla is very sweet combined w/ the pear note. The sandalwood smells a bit spicy to my nose, I'm sure it is synthetic but that doesn't matter, what matters is does it smell good and believable and this is a very pretty believable perfume. The pear here has a dessert like quality, it is not green at all but stewed w/ sweet vanilla cream and a hint of spice. White florals are there and very sweet and tropical as the perfume progresses but that delicious stewed pear never leaves. So pretty. Why did they discontinue this one? It smells 1000 times better than God is a Woman by AG. That perfume has no strength at all and doesn't last. This one is strong, lasts and projects. I have it on my hand (put it on an hour ago) and I can smell it w/ my hand away from my face. I think I have to buy a back up of this and one for my younger sister, she would love this because it is fruity, sweet, has white florals and vanilla. This is a great value and a very pretty perfume for the money. I smell perfumes all the time in ULTA and Sephora that cost 10 times as much that do not smell as nice as this one. Wow, now I am getting a lot of gardenia coming through. Gardenia and pear go great together! I ended up giving this to my sister. She really enjoyed it.

Chantilly eau de vie is worth a try, even if you dislike the original Chantilly. This isn't really a flanker but rather an entirely different fragrance. Fruity and sweet, but not sugary, soft without musk. It's a Chantilly for a consumer who prefers lighter scents, with lots of fruits and a bit of florals and spice. A very feminine scent, good for work and play. Eau de vie may not cost much but it doesn't smell cheap in any way. Don't let the lightness fool you, though. This fragrance has lasting power! Eau de vie made it through a nice hot shower with lots of soap. Applied lightly, the frag will last for hours and hours. Try to snag a gift set of Dana's favorites, which are often available around the holidays. Cheap for the price you'll get the original Chantilly, its flanker, original Tabu and its flanker, Tabu Rose - which is also delicious. Plus a bottle of the ever dependable Navy. What's not to like?

Full disclosure: I'm not an OG Chantilly fan and I haven't the foggiest idea what OG Chantilly smells like IRL. This, however, is familiar--VS frag familiar. Floral Fresh and sweet. Nothing ground breaking but cheap as chips. I don't get much (if any) discernible depth but this is a great grab and go for errands; especially for spring/summer wear. It's pretty loud so even though it smells like a body spray, it behaves like an EDP. Happy to have it but I doubt I'll miss it when it's gone. Edit: I've revisited this a year later with new "eyes," as it were, and the pear in this is VERY juicy. It actually pulls similar to JPG La Belle on a lovely ~65F morning. This is a wonderful cheapie (I recall I picked up a 50mL bottle for $7 USD) and I am just tickled at this epiphany. I'm telling you if you like La Belle, definitely try it.

For the price, this is a nice inoffensive scent. As others have mentioned, dryer sheets, shampoo, etc...that type of fragrance, but also as others have said, that's not a bad thing. It can also smell a little bit on the soapy clean side. It's a fruity floral. Bright and happy in my opinion. As long as you don't overspray, this would be a fine fragrance to wear to work or other casual settings. I think that this one doesn't smell as inexpensive as it is. I (accidentally) ordered a 12 pack of 1 oz bottles of this for $14.00! I thought I was ordering 1 bottle, not one set of 12, but you can't beat that price, for sure!

This is a lovely spring time fragrance that’s bursting with soothing, powdery florals that convey a sense of purity and cleanliness. The notes don’t show any lavender in this but my nose believes there is. It’s the first thing that pops into my mind, and not because the bottle is purple. It’s a little bit soapy and has an almost perfumed detergent feel, but certainly not in a negative way. It’s almost like sinking your face into freshly laundered sheets that have cooled down and are ready to be slept in. I imagine having this on right after a shower would be amazing, so I’ll definitely play around with that.

Dana needs to advertise this perfume. No one knows about it. It's not in shops anywhere. I only learned about from a sampler bought in 2016. Hunted it down on the dana website and bought it for christmas 2017. So new, light, fresh. pretty packaging, pretty bottle. Dana really put some thought into chantilly eau de vie. Work and church safe.

Smells like shampoo but that's not an insult. I paid around $9 for this and have no regrets. Tried it first as a pillow spray and kept thinking "BOY that smells nice!" every time I caught a whiff. I'll probably give it another try in springtime, it's not really a scent for December.

Chantilly Eau de Vie should be more popular, but it's never advertised, or at least I had never heard of it before stumbling upon it here while looking for versions of my beloved Chantilly. 1. This has zero resemblance to Houbigant's or Dana's Chantilly. None at all. 2. Eau de Vie seems vaguely aquatic, which is a mystery when you look at the notes. There's amber and pear for the most part, blended with some white florals. It's not like anything else. How does it feel so aquatic? Must be the pear. 3. It's also soapy. Sandalwood can turn soapy. But that is a positive thing in my book. 4. The opening is offputting. Notes fly around in a disorganized, unfocused way. Give it ten minutes to settle. Then it develops that amber and pear blend which makes it so pretty. 5. Careful, it's stronger than you'd expect given the price. The packaging and bottle are terribly cheap, I must sadly say. However, if you overlook them you may find that Eau de Vie makes a lovely summer daytime scent when you want to project cleanliness and a ladylike air. The scent is not cheap. Glad they put the money into the fragrance, not the marketing. Somewhere in the scent trajectory there is a grapefruit-like phase that puts me in mind of something from the early 2000s. That's my favorite part. I keep respraying to get that part again. Really a fascinating fragrance.

I am in love with this. It's a velvety, cozy, lighthearted fruity floral. There’s something pure and fresh about it, but I can feel the amber underneath too. It’s just plain pretty and innocent yet womanly at the same time. It works well in both hot and cold weather. Don’t let the Frangipani fool you either, it doesn’t have a beachy/sunblock feel whatsoever. It lasts a very long on me, literally all day, morning til night, but it’s pretty soft. Nothing that would offend. If I had never received a lovely sample, I’d never have tried this...ever. Of course I’ve since purchased a full bottle, and it has become my ultimate bedtime scent. I’ve worn it to work a few times too, but I’ve worn it to bed every day for the past couple of weeks.

I don’t think this is for me. I’m waiting for it to morph into something less headache inducing. I’ve only had it on for about twenty minutes. So far, it’s loud and pretty cheap smelling but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because it IS cheap. Based on the reviews here, I should have liked it more. I hope it softens. My advice - put it on an hour before you go out and less is more.

A pleasant fruity/floral that smells like pear shampoo. I like it a lot, as I like sweet, fresh scents and I think it smells very pretty. An easy reach to run out the house, feminine and clean. I tend to lean more vanilla/gourmand when the weather cools down, and even though this is casual and good year-round, I would wear this more in the spring/summer.

I can’t get this off of my hands where I tested it! Thought it was going to be a logical product of its composition notes but NOPE. I’ve tried all my scrubbing techniques and still it lingers. So it lasts, there’s that. Original Chantilly has a loud little sister!

A creamy "pink" floral for young women or teens. Kind of like Justin Bieber's Collector's Edition. If you are a fan of Halle Berry Pure Orchid, you'll probably appreciate this one.
