Love's Rainforest

This is refreshing, clean, effortless, so easy to wear! It smells like a very simple cologne that is more grassy than usual. The lasting power is quite good for a cologne, and I feel confident wearing this fragrance anywhere because it's just clean and nice, totally not offensive. It is not very shampooy to me or soapy to me which is good, but still very fresh. The only note I want to add that might stick this review out from others is that I was surprised that this is much more floral smelling that what the note vote pyramid originally had it in. Not that it is totally run by florals, but I think the watery notes are just as strong as the floral notes and the citrus is probably the weakest by only a hair. Overall, it's pretty balanced but green notes dominate! I have the 20 mL cologne mist bottle, not the same as the body mist!

Yup, me too! Found it at Big Lots for $3 USD and to me it's inspired by the original women's Aqua di Gio. For a cologne this has surprisingly good longevity : ) A happy find!

Another one I had in the 80's!!!! I loved the fresh rainforest aquatic scent!!! I can still remember it like it was yesterday,this one was a huge favorite of mine!

This is definitely my favorite scent in the Love's collection. It smells fresh, green, a bit citrusy, and wet, if that makes since.

I've tried a decant of Kiehl's Rain Forest many years ago, fell in love with it, only to find that it was discontinued. Never managed to get my hands on one. So now I heard that this modest little guy reminds some people of Kiehl's, and I just had to try it. While I no longer remember the Kiehl's smell and cannot make a comparison, the vibe is similar, and I'm happy about it. This one is pretty nice, well worth the $10 I've paid for it. It's soft, minty, green, fresh, clean, with just a little sweetness. It's NOT a dry, mossy green; it's more of a wet, sweet green. This is my first time wearing it, but I imagine I'll be reaching for it on hot summer days, or whenever I need a minty pick-me-up. (I call it minty in the best way possible.) At first I felt it was too light, but the more I smell my wrist, the more I enjoy it. Not that it's similar (it isn't), but it has the same vibe as Guerlain Limón Verde and Guerlain Herba Fresca.

This is not the same as the old Love's Rain scent. This is entirely newer than that and quite different. I have the body mist and I find it very easy to wear. It is an aquatic that stays very close to the skin and just smells clean, green and a little generic. I think of it as a watery transparent green fragrance. It is unoffensive and would be difficult to overdo because the strength of the body mist is not like a edp or anything. If overdone, it would probably make people sick as aquatics sometimes do. It might be a good gift for someone who oversprays!

This one is really great -- green, unsweetened florals in humid air. Quite synthetic, but not unpleasantly so, this is a lovely cheapie perfect for the dog days of summer. I personally prefer Demeter's Holy Water and Wet Garden because of the slight earthy note in those two, but if Love's Rainforest intrigues you, you should definitely pick up a bottle.

I was checking the smelly selection at Big Lots today and voila! Love's Rainforest. It's fresh, green and flowery and very nice. I will most definitely wear it. I smiled all the way to the checkout. $3.00! A steal and the box is cute too.

It’s slightly tart and somewhat powdery, but not as much as the original. It’s also somewhat weaker, both in longevity and sillage. It’s still not a bad choice for a casual scent, although it needs heat to really shine.

I discovered the Love's brand when it was it's own company, Menley and James, back when I was in high school back in the late 60's. The brand also sold cool frosted lipsticks and eye shadows in white plastic containers shaped like eyeballs--(groovy, baby!!) It was cheap and hip and focused on kids my age. I fell HARD for their first fragrance Eau De Love--which I bought in a vaguely phallic splash bottle and still wish to God that someone would bring that scent back!! I continued my brand loyalty through college, wearing their Daisy L, Love's Fresh Lemon, Love's Rain Scent, and their awesome Love's Musky Jasmin Flower--(which smelled EXACTLY like Gucci Bloom does now, for pennies on the dollar back in 1973!!) I found this one back in about 2014--and instantly fell hard for it--fresh, sweet--GREEN!!! And--a little wet! The comparisons to other favorites of mine--Aqua De Gio--and Demeter's Wet Garden --are very apt!! I haven't seen this any where for years now but will continue to hoard the 2 bottles I have left--thanks, Dana for making it!!

I just bought this for $3.00, also, at Big Lots this afternoon. I had had some earlier and some body lotion that went with it; but, I think it is packed away in boxes at my Mother's house that she has yet to unpack. We moved last autumn. Anyway, I got in my little car and spritzed some on me. I love it! It smells so watery, so clean. I am not sure what is in it; and your description does not list them as it does about other fragrances. However, I do believe strongly that it has lily of the valley in it; which, is one of my favorite scents. Unfortunately, unlike the other reviewer, I think this was the only bottle of Love's Rainforest they had at Big Lots. Maybe, they will get more. I also have Love's Baby Soft which I love. My goal is to collect as many of these Love's Fragrances as I can. They are very precious!

Remember wearing this and reading Green Mansions as a retro paperback. I had an earlier version; was not sophisticated about luxury perfumes, and chose or was gifted easygoing, subtle, and crisp springlike scents women tended to like more at that time, noncommittal and easy to switch between many of these types. If I’d known more, I’d have chosen to ask for White Linen, and push the envelope a bit. The scent was very herbal and botanical, crushed ferns and other greens, a fleetingly fresh pick me up, very sporty and casual. Not something I’d reach for these days, but a nice time enough time capsule.

This is one of my all time loves. I’ve never gotten more compliments than when I wear this, even over far more sophisticated perfumes. I’ve been chased down the street and asked what I’m wearing when I’ve had this on. It’s very herbal and green, very fresh. For a cheapie it is surprisingly delicious even if fairly synthetic. No sweetness at all, just very clean, bright green herbs. If you like very green scents this one is up there. Sadly doesn’t last long - maybe two hours or so, but at a bargain price you can spray it all day. Price Rite Mart in Australia stocks it for a very low cost.

This is a dupe for Versace Pour Femme Versace. I found this bottle of Rainforest at Big Lots for $3.00 and one whiff of it I knew it was a dead ringer for the Versace one that I have at home. Needless to say I cleared the shelf of the 12 bottles they had in stock! Now I can spritz away all day if I like without having to worry about using up my high priced perfume.

I can't really say anything new about the scent that hasn't been said here.. it is just a nice green scent. BUT.. just for clarification, the two reviews below are not accurate. This is NOT to be confused with Love's Rain Scent, which is much older. This is something entirely different. I know, I have both of them.

I LOVE this scent!!! And it is MUCH older than 2010 - I have no clue where that bit of misinformation came from. Dana Loves' scents have been around since the 1970's at least. I do like knowing that part of the purchase cost will go to some kind of rainforest conservancy project!

This is similar in name but not a replica of the original green Love's Rain Scent. Wish there would be a listing for the old one too, because I would love to see your reviews and hear a comparison of old and new. Yup, got a serious nostalgia bent going, don't know why.
