Tobacognac

So I got a bit of a polarizing review for this one. Its rare but every now and then you get a fragrance where it performs noticeably different on skin than it does on paper. And this is one of them for me. So when I first read the notes I was a little worried I saw people voting oak, and hay as the main notes to most. Which worried me as im not a big fan of heavy oak fragrances as it just smells to dry and pencil shavingish to me a lot of times.. Well on paper this sorta goes from different extremes. It starts off like the name might lead you to believe, very vibeish, very manly, tobacco and cognac a power sorta smelling fragrance. But as it dries down, not only was this not dry. This is EXTREMELY syrupy, thick and fruity. Like shockingly so. As a matter of fact I even got a sorta ambre narguile or or du serail kinda vibe. Now I know a lot of people in fragcom love the former quite a bit, but its meh~ to me. Its also very powerful on paper as well. On (my)skin however, this kinda was a mix for me, I can smell the more dry aspects like the hay, its not as powerful, its more put together and the contrasts were not as extreme, now that might not be as interesting to some people, but for me, it makes it more snuggly and cozy. So not having a as extreme syurpy fruity factor was good for me. So ya strange review I guess because well I got at least a remarkable contrast/difference on skin than paper so take this for what you will. Guess ill have to test it more to see its performance in other types of weather perhaps as well.

Having had the opportunity to try Tobacognac for a few weeks now, I can say with a great degree of comfort and confidence that this has quickly climbed the ladder to becoming one of my most favorite tobacco fragrances ever! Daniel is all too well read up on everything perfume related, and his knowledge and experience is evident through his creations. In a world where transparency is often compromised when it comes to note breakdowns, this fragrance in particular is as genuine as they come. The tobacco and boozy nuances are noticeable from the very start. You get a tobacco fermenting in the richest spices all the while being complemented by a woodsy base supporting the sophisticated weight of the opening. As the fragrance progresses, the floral components add a sensual yet sensitive nuance to the composition while never compromising it's sophisticated and bold integrity. This fragrance is for the tobacco lover, the booze lover, and the lover of all things daring and different. Tobacognac is a gem and staple for the fall and winter! Highly recommended!
