Quetzaly

I am trying this perfume right now and It is a very nice scent. The most noticeable note os the incense but It appears un a very original and different way. The mixture with the Chile is very nice and the Woody basement of cedar, sandakwood and musk is present all the time. It shares some vibe with zefiro by xerjoff but in zefiro the incense is more tradicional. I can feel Aldo some aimilarities with dahlia by Jesús del Pozo, i Guess fue to the Dalia note though i have never smelt a Dalia (i have smelt them but i have never found any scent on them). The longevity of this perfume is very good, more than 8 hours on my skin, but most of the time just close of the skin. The sillage is therefore only moderate. The perfume is totally unisex and very versatile weareable un any swason and at any time. Scent: 8 Longevity: 8.5 Sillage: 6 Quality/price: 5 Versatility: 8.5 Originality: 8 Global: 8.5

Magnificent Incense! QUETZALY Inspired by Mexico 🇲🇽. The fragrance opens with spicy notes, rarely used in perfumery. A touch of lime and chili (chili) as the main note, quickly emerges the mixture of smoked resins (copal and incense) always spicy, but also somewhat fresh, green with sweet nuances, due to the beautiful Dalhia that provides warmth and soft tones floral in a beautifully conjugated chord. The drydown is a delicate combination of woody, balsamic and ambery accords, always with incense nuances, leaving an elegant wake. It smells mysterious and sensual. It is versatile and timeless, the substantivity can vary according to each skin, on me, it lasts about 12 hours. Quetzaly is a beautiful creation that treasures an entire culture of a wonderful country like Mexico, inside a bottle.

#1594 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant from scentsplit.com for $3.99. I generally order enough decants at a time that there's no shipping charge. My fourth go around with Daniel Jossier scents. "Ambre Tabac", "Green Leather" and "Kaleidoscope" all very nice scents. But I was a bit skeptical of this one. The notes read more like something a professional chef friend of mine would put on a burrito. My first scent with avocado, my first scent with dahlia (a flower that I grew on the West fence of my house in Tacoma for the colors, not the scent), my second scent with copal (Mancera "Eternal Wood), and off the top of my head, I can only think of two scents I have with a chili pepper note, Spicebomb "Night Vision", which I love, and Guerlain "L'Homme Ideal L'Intense", which has so much chili that I don't wear it (capsaicin is not my freind). The scent goes for $100+, so, getting a bottle of this without trying a decant first wasn't a wise option. This is a unique scent. At first it smelled like the men's room at "Mi Cancun." A mix of citrus soap, deodorizer and carne asada. It improved a lot in the dry down, but the chili remained dominant in the same way as the pimento in Tom Ford "Grey Vetiver" (excessive to the point of ruining that scent for me, though the person I gave it to loves it). Like the other Jossiers I've tried this is good quality stuff that's long lasting with good projection. But while I don't think it's offensive, it's a weird and unattractive fragrance. Had I blind bought this I'd be giving it away. I strongly recommend getting a decant before you buy this.

Today I'm wearing four sprays of Quetzaly by Daniel Josier. A fragrance inspired by Mexico, in which formula we find notes and ingredients that are an emblem of this nation, but the olfactory tale that Quetzaly tells trascends the notes in its composition. I wont talk about the notes (which by now, surely, most have heard about) lest you be subject and biased by them and create an expectation that may hinder your enjoyment of this beautiful scent. Quetzaly is a warm, mysterious and sensual fragrance. It is in general, a sweet, spiced, ambery and woodsy scent with bright and citusy semi-floral contrasts. Contrary to most comments on this fragrance, I would not label this piece as a "green scent". And, to my suprise (because I expected this to come across as a challenging and very conceptual fragrance) I find it to be very versatile and wearable, although I consider this to be outstanding for the evenings in any weather. In the opening, Quetzaly emerges very gracefully yet bold, enveloped in a cloud of incense and copal, not overwhelming, but with an adamant presence. In its heart we find a floral and almost fruity sweetness that harmonizes to perfection with the mystic incense and brings you down to its musky and creamy sandalwood base and cedarwood that turn it sensual and captivating. Once the scent has settled, that is where the magic of the show begins. Here, we can catch glimpses of a sparkling, slightly green, citrusy and "spicy" accord that play with your nose and increase the pleasure of the dark base, and continue to randomly appear throught the life of the fragrance in my skin captivating my attention. (Those times you catch a pleasent whiff and wonder where its coming from only to realize its you). Its projection, although discreet, is very good! Its not very common to find an incense prominent scent that is not invasive and often times obliterating. Its rather delicate and inviting. Its longevity on me, trascends the 8 hour mark. You may ask, does Quetzaly smell like Mexico? Well, it certainly makes me think of a prehispanic Mexico, with its mystical pyramids and the immaculate beauty of its nature offering olfactive and visual spectacles with its vibrant colors. Without a doubt a gem to my nose and collection.

After falling in love with Kisses Rain, which Daniel Josier created for Renier, and listening to several of his instructive interviews on YouTube, I decided that I wanted to get one of his fragrances. One that would be really different from anything I owned in my collection, which would be special. I chose Quetzaly and I was not wrong. Quetzaly is a perfume with evolution, something that is very much missed in other fragrances, which, no matter how much we love the smell, become monotonous. It is also very original, the first time I sprayed it, it left me stunned because I had never smelled an outlet that looked like it. On the start what I notice the most is the chili in a citrus sea. After a few minutes the resinous and incense mix unfolds. Once the spicy touch of the chili has been lost, this scent will stay with us for many hours. Gradually a woody and creamy background develops in which I smell mostly sandalwood. The sillage of this perfume is moderate-high and its duration on my skin is very good, over 12 hours. In short, it is a not sweet fragrance based on incense but different from any other with this note that I have tried, it is a fresh, bearable incense, not ecclesiastical, but smoky and mysterious at the same time, somewhat addictive. This description may make it seem complex and heavy, but it is nevertheless perfect for everyday use. I agree with other opinions that it is totally unisex and quite versatile in terms of seasons. Perhaps in my case I see it less versatile in terms of occasions since I do not feel it a fragrance to seduce or in very formal settings. It feels elegant but perhaps more for a man. Excuse me for this bias towards using myself sweet or floral fragances in those scenarios... I look forward to traveling to Mexico one day to take this aroma with me so that it brings me through its lands, its people, its customs and its natural and historical heritage. How curious to discover if Daniel has achieved to portray this country through his perfume!
